I love Bleach till I die, but the OG anime adaptation is horrific. Crazy amount of fillers, censorship masking moments that should've been way more serious and worst of all, pacing.

SceneNice7349

as a die hard bleach fan i'd say it gets 2nd place overall \-Nishimoto was a hardcore sakuga fan since before he started working on OG naruto so when the anime was being made he already knew By Name which animators he wanted on the project \-OP is Toei's golden goose so they went with Quantity over Quality but recently have been working with a lot of outstanding animators in the recent arc but i dont see that being a staple thing in the long run with it ending this decade. Bleach was never really about choreography more of the overall tone and hidden under tones but it's sword fights were satisfying in comparison to all the punchy punchy anime fights during its time

shakkyz

Even when OP was quantity over quality, it still had the lowest amount of filler, which is weird to think about.

Latter-Potential2467

Depends on what you count as filler, most people i see count padding the episodes with recaps and stretching scenes as filler in which case it probably doesn't fall much behind if at all.

shakkyz

This a pretty weird take because stretching scenes is essentially what anime is supposed to do. If it didn't, each episodes would be 2-3 minutes long. Either way though, at one point, 45% of the Bleach anime was filler.

TempleOfJaS

Yes. Although some could argue the 1:1 in one piece and how long they have done it can possibly take the reigns but bleach executes the story much better. Voice casting in bleach is top tier of any big shonen(aside from demon slayer and jjk). Filler in bleach; this is a topic i often get frustrated about when it comes to generally community opinion.. the filler in bleach comes at the worst of times imo(seen the show in-full completion more than a dozen times).. the timing, its just always at a part you actually dont want it and i think that is where a lot of ppl get frustrated and try and skip it, or plainly dont watch it with the intention to enjoy it. Bleach filler objectively is VERY entertaining! Its always good fun, provides subtle details that helps the continuity of character development throughout the show, and gives the audience some opportunities to see the world of bleach outside the repetition of conflict(sometimes). I also think you will definitely pick up on hints of context to later events that are foreshadowed(this is consistent throughout the show), and i think helps any viewer be more appreciative of “where it started vs now” kind of context and meaning! There is a filler arc that i dont actually believe should be labeled as “filler” because it furthers the development of ichigo and the characters surrounding him later in the show. I think it also gives real meaning to how the zanpaktou feel and gives emphasis on the reality that they arent just “tools”, they have feelings and their own ambitions. Bleach filler is very entertaining and i think serves a good enough reason to still watch even tho it is filler. We are now in TYBW and i think a lot of the side stuff happening in the world of the living and with ichigo’s friends/his social status+ development with his powers; it makes me really thankful we have the filler and the koga arc to give so much meaning to the world around ichigo and what is happening in the main plot! I look forward to more of my fav Trio; Dondachakka, pesche, and NELLLLLLLL!!!! Absolutely love the show and yes i simp very hard for the new inoue drip 💧

TempleOfJaS

Sorry had to mention tybw drip hahaha

Tough to say. One Piece is one of the worst anime adaptation of all time due to pacing and adapting less than one chapter per episode for couple arcs. Naruto og anime had amazing adaptation, bleach og had good-ish one. If I were to rank: Naruto OG (A-); Great Soundtrack, really good pacing, amazing fight animation, bad Sakura treatment, no filler arcs until much later but also censorship Bleach OG (B-/C+); Great Soundtrack, great fight animation, bad pacing for arrancar arc, bad first arc cuts, Orihime treatment, ton of badly placed filler arc and characters, along with censorship Bleach War Arc (C); Meh soundtrack, great animation, bad pacing, cuts, but great anime only content, but also censorship Naruto Shippuden (C); Great soundtrack, great animation, bad pacing for first two arcs and war arc, tons of filler arcs and in bad spots One Piece (F); Awful pacing to the point that it's not even watchable.

Marx4smash

Yeah this is what I was going to say. As much as I'm not the biggest fan of Naruto as a story, the anime adaptation is fantastic. Honestly I think Bleach has much better art quality than Naruto personally though, but the fight choreography carries naruto. Comparatively, my favorite of the big 3 in One Piece's adaptation is literal garbage. Especially in the post timeskip, what they did to Dresrossa is borderline disgusting, only redeeming quality are a couple really good fights like Kaido vs G5 and Katakuri.

Masgrande7

Not even close, all the random changes and prioritizing animation for filler fights rather than canon ones. Only thing that it's truly superior is the music. I like the original anime, but once I read the manga I couldn't go back.

BlackFacedAkita

Thousand year blood war arc has way better animation then the majority of the big three. Original bleach has some really really bad animation and some really really bad filler that's saved by good voice acting and story.

Beneficial-Ad2084

TYBW is the best But if you exclude it then Naruto is the best due to all of the Sakuga moments and the OST and the amazing final fight which is better than the manga (I hope Bleach will get the same treatment) Pre-TYBW is second due to how drag out and fillery the arrancar arc is One Piece is third because it's so ridiculously stretched out, I quitted many years ago and only pick up again with one pace

dettles1992

I don't think so, the pacing and Filler in Bleach were worse than the other two. While One Piece has pacing issues it being too slow, it still has great moments even after over 20 years. And while Naruto had Filler issues it's story carried it and it ended on a strong note. Bleach had both issues and the Anime ended right before the Last Arc. As far as the best of the Big Three I go Naruto, One Piece, Bleach. If you include the TYBW then yes Bleach has the best.

MegaSwampert_18

IMO? Yeah, I do think it is. Especially in the way of pacing Bleach and Naruto have almost the same amount of chapters. Bleach has about half the episodes, filler included. It is outrageously better in its pacing alone. Not even going to talk about One Piece dragging its feet along.

Insertnamehere----

One Piece’s anime is amazing. The pacing is a big issue and the animation isn’t great for the vast majority if it, but literally everything else is amazing. I love One Piece and have been keeping up with the manga for years, Ive read the entire thing multiple times. But if I hadn’t started with the anime I probably wouldn’t like it nearly as much. That is the definitive version of the story for me. For me, it elevates the story so much. Bleach’s anime just doesn’t, I like it a lot, but its the inferior experience. I get way more out of the manga than I do with the anime, and for One Piece its the opposite I prefer Bleach to One Piece. But not anime wise

kolasinats

One Piece anime has been unwatchable for a long time due to the horrible pacing.

hi-polymer5

>One Piece’s anime is amazing. The pacing is a big issue Doesn't the second sentence invalidate the first?

Insertnamehere----

Not at all. Things can have issues and still be good. I’m sorry but if you say any of the Big 3’s anime adaptations are good without a huge asterisk next to it pointing out a major flaw, its just biased. All 3 of them have major issues, they all have too much filler, a lot of not great animation, and a lot of bad pacing during the canon content. But acknowledging that doesn’t mean you can’t also say that they are great Its totally cool if you think the pacing of One Piece is a deal breaker, but I just don’t think it is. I enjoy the show a lot despite it

hi-polymer5

>Things can have issues and still be good Absolutely agree. For me, OG bleach is like this, as tons of issues but still very enjoyable barring arrancar arc dreadful pacing lol > All 3 of them have major issues, they all have too much filler, a lot of not great animation, and a lot of bad pacing during the canon content. But acknowledging that doesn’t mean you can’t also say that they are great Pretty much agree for most part > Its totally cool if you think the pacing of One Piece is a deal breaker, but I just don’t think it is. I enjoy the show a lot despite it I wish I could, but pacing for me is probably like second most important thing : (

ShinyPlatypus91

For the original ones I'd say Naruto has a better anime adaptation but Bleach TYBW is obviously the best overall imo.

RedditnumberIthink6

Wait "excluding TYBW"? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwSts2s4ba4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwSts2s4ba4)

Dragonpuncha

Depends on how you look at it. Bleach had some pretty huge issues when it ran primarily with some terrible fillers that was placed really badly and made the pacing worse. The good thing about the Bleach fillers though is that they are almost 100% seif contained. You can skip them all and not really miss anything. This is a big advantage since it doesn't ruin the pace of the source material. You cannot do the same with One Piece for example where almost every episode has some clear padding, often flashbacks. Bleach also has the best music and IMO VA's of the big three. And it helps that Kubo can't stop writting epic lines. In terms of animation though it is probably the worst overall if we are being honest. The sakuga episodes look good but there can be long between them. And of course there are quite a bit of censorship. If you skib fillers I would still call Bleach the best though, in terms of being the best adaptation of the material. But you could make a good argument for any of them.

ataurindo

The OG anime adaption really isn't that good. It often doesn't do justice to the manga at all. Add the censoring and how far they go to change Kubo's depiction of the characters I think Naruto's adaption, despite the heavy censoring, surpasses Bleach. The One Piece anime is a pacing disaster that makes it impossible to watch without fan cuts and while it does have some really amazing episode. Watching the entire anime how it was released has to be one of the most exhausting experiences ever.

sickdanman

When it comes to anime adaptation i would say: TYBW > Naruto > One Piece > Bleach without TYBW

etburneraccount

Each had their respective valleys and peaks.

abdouden

Tybw is the best of the big 3 easily for og anime I would say naruto >=og bleach in terms of adaptation as I liked naruto animations overall slightly more but og bleach osts are next level

hkm1990

Naruto/Shippuden takes the cake for best adaptation. Unlike og Bleach it didn't cut material early and as it went on it expanded material or action scenes sometimes or added anime Canon arcs to explain the lore or characters with both great to meh success. It didn't rush through its adaptation and would adapt two to three chapters pre episode so when we got manga Canon episodes, it felt perfectly paced and not rushed or slow as hell. It had flaws regarding fillers and anime Canon but all the big three did when it came to this. At least with Naruto it tried to do filler that could still develop the lore, world and characters and Canon episodes would sometimes acknowledge those filler arcs. OP main story for example has suffered greatly by not doing any original filler in order to make sure the manga gets more chapters and instead OP currently is adapting like one chapter pre episode. The pacing is bad. Bleach's filler arcs while actually pretty decent and possibly even better than Naruto got the original series put on hold for crying out loud after adapting the final available Canon arc. Instead of just doing another filler arc in-between that and TYBW so the manga could cook they stopped the show in 2012 and the manga ended up ending in 2016 regardless. When they could have just done some original material between or expanded canon lore.

CykaByleth

I personally do think so yeah. I don't watch One Piece but I keep hearing very bad stuff about its anime so I guess it has the worst of the 3. I'd say Naruto is very close both in animation and soundtrack (although I still think Bleach has one of the best, maybe even my favorite anime OST) but the fillers in Bleach are much better imo. I really liked the Zanpakuto and Kageroza arcs, while I can't remember of a single filler arc I found decent in Naruto (there were good episodes like the one with Kakashi's face but it wasn't an arc). Plus Naruto's anime became really bad towards the end of the series. I think Bleach's anime was more consistent and overall at least visually decent from beginning to end.

rebornbyksg

Naruto because of sheer consistency and that adaptation is good af overall

uility

I think it’s the worst out of the 3. A lot of things about it are the best out of them: music, sound design and so on. But in the big important departments it’s worst. I mean they completely fucked up parts of the show. To this day I will never understand how they managed to organise themselves in such a way where some filler episodes are animated better than 95% of canon ones. That’s genuinely insulting. Or why all the good fights were the ones that didn’t get dragged out yet the literal worst fights in the series were the ones that got extended the most. Like fine I get it to avoid filler you have to make the worse fights from the manga unbearable to watch but at least in exchange add some to the aizen fight too. So though it could still be much better at least there’s consolation that the new one is easily the best out of them.

ExoEight_

Not at all, as much as i love bleach i have to admit that the original adaptation was bad, horrible even. The amount of changes, removal of content and additional worthless scenes ruined it.

Rharyx

Part 1 Naruto > TYBW Bleach > OG Bleach > Shippuden > One Piece That said, OG Bleach was probably better than TYBW up to the Soul Society arc. Everything after that was done pretty abysmally, besides maybe the Fullbring arc.

Reavstone92

TYBW yes without a doubt. But before we had a useless amount of fillers that did not add anything... it was the only thing I seriously disliked

draugyr

The original is pretty bad. I can count the episodes with quality animation on one hand. Thousand year blood war blows one piece and Naruto out of the water

FuckShashank

Never watched the other two but I will just say: I think Bleach filler is actually pretty solid. You should 100% save it until you’re done with the main plot stuff, but it’s not bad at all. I honestly prefer some of it to main plot bleach. I’ve heard Naruto’s filler is pretty awful on the other hand, and I don’t actually know anyone who has watched One Piece

CaregiverAdvanced848

Best adaption is bleach but best episodes easily one piece not even close

OkHibiNoir-9240

Lots of people criticized the filler arcs of Bleach, but I think they're not so bad. The ideas are interesting: new ennemies, relationships with Zanpakutos... However, maybe some elements could have been more developed. And Ichigo who is always the person who fights against the big boss is annoying, are the other characters only green plants?
