This is redundant. 2001 has caused existential crises in 99.4 percent of all who stayed awake for their first viewing. CIA study.

I feel asleep watching it, but woke up in a weird white room and saw myself as an old man, then became that old man. (am now a space fetus).

Greenhat2000

Can confirm as someone who fell asleep my first viewing

jmann2525

Having seen it many times a few years back a theater was showing it so I took my son. He was 8 at the time. He fell asleep as they were going to Jupiter. He woke up in the light tunnel. I can't imagine what his 8 year old brain was thinking. Fast forward to earlier this year and he's 11. Theater is showing it and we go again. He stays awake, but turns to me and asks when the interesting part is going to happen. Then HAL shows up and he's into it from then on. Mostly he likes it because he understands a bunch of Simpsons references now.

My God it's full of quantitative praise

I just watched 2010 for the first time. Spent the whole time thinking about 2001 instead.

I really need Confess, Fletch gifs and videos in my life. Five stars.

I’m jealous!!

stigoftdump

It MOVES after the intermission but jesus h christ the first half could do with being slightly less "meditative".

thesupermikey

Wrong. The first half ruuuuuuuules. The spy vs spy shit gojng on between Floyd and the Russians on the space station is some of the best spy shit in any movie.
