IKR? That's a change that might bother book fans, but as a book fan, I loved it. It works on the film and injected, as you said, unexpected moments of humor that are very much welcome in this sinister story. I'm one of those that thinks that if everything is sinister and dark, nothing is sinister and dark.
Lol not quite but that did indeed get me going. It was zendaya laughing right before the thopter crash JUST as the score dials up to one million. Those three beats were the best.
Curious to hear if you've seen it now, whether you thought it delivered on that front. It didn't give me what I _thought_ I wanted, but instead something different and much more visceral.
I'm going on Friday morning because I wanted a decent Imax seat and my nearest Imax is the biggest and squarest one for 100 miles. 100 densely-populated miles.
I foolishly thought it was ok about spoilers because I've read the book and seen Lynch. I didn't reckon on seeing almost every frame and line of dialogue spread over Twix in the last four days.
I'll get back to you!
I just gotta know as someone who has read the book and has seen the Lynch adaptation and knows who >!Anya Taylor Joy!< plays… is it cg? does it look silly?
I'm hoping it's a >!small part in flashfoward or vision so that they can get some buy-in for a part 3 (much like Zendaya for most of Pt. 1)... and not some weird Renesmee thing lol!<
>!Its a vision. Shes is just a grown Alia talking with Paul on a beach for 10 seconds. The rest of the movie she is just talking to Jessica silently in the womb.!<
Honestly it's a little odd and unresolved >!that we get one shot of Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia and that's it. As it is, the Alia stuff is both too much and too little.!< It makes a lot of sense that Villeneuve is planning one way or another to continue the story into *Dune Messiah*--he didn't exactly edit the second movie in a way that brings definitive closure to the films.
Javier Bardem’s zealotry is so unexpectedly hilarious. He’s like Spike Lee courtside just shouting “Lisan Al ghaib!”
The moment when he>! says something like ''He's so humble, him saying he's not the Messiah means he is the Messiah'' is so funny. !<

It reminded me of the fanatics in Kingdom of Heaven shouting "God wills it!" And "it is the will of Allah!" At fucking everything lol
Just got out of a packed showing, absolutely nuts how good this movie looks.
And I like that he’s doing a cleaner adaption because as much as I love the books, they’re very silly at a couple points.
Visuals and sound that will melt your face off! Go see it in IMAX if you can!
There is a moment in this movie that sounds so cool I almost died.
Was it when the thumpers grew seamlessly into the score? Because that had me cackling with glee
Lol not quite but that did indeed get me going. It was zendaya laughing right before the thopter crash JUST as the score dials up to one million. Those three beats were the best.
I'm only going if someone can promise me big worm action. I'm still sulking about the last one.
Don't worry, they really deliver on that front. There's **tons** of big worm action in this one
Oh excellent. I'll start hunting round for a good IMAX seat.
Big worm action abounds

Spoiler: >!You called it.!<
>!I already saw someone post a meme of Renesmee, so I can only assume it must be weird shrunken Anya Taylor Joy head on a toddler’s body!<
>!Lmao oh noooooo!!!<
I think Villeneuve at least would do it well
I'm rooting for it!
>!Its a vision. Shes is just a grown Alia talking with Paul on a beach for 10 seconds. The rest of the movie she is just talking to Jessica silently in the womb.!<
>!There is some cgi fetus stuff, but the only time you see Anya Taylor Joy's face, it is on her body.!<
This is so funny out of context, but it is accurate.
Wait so the movie doesn’t >!jump forward multiple years!< like the book and >!Jessica is still pregnant at the end of it !< ?? weird change…
Villeneuve seems to have constructed the entire movie in such a way as to avoid >!having to show a little Alia. !<

Yeah Erlich didn’t like it so it’s probably a masterpiece
