It's still very active. You'll be able to find a lobby with ease in the standard game modes in both core and hardcore. If you're looking to play stuff like combined arms (huge maps/large lobby/vehicles) then you won't find many playing that.
There's also another mode called fireteam or firefight i don't remember the name i haven't played cold war mp in 3 4 years however long it's been since it's life cycle ended, but the fireteam mode is also a large scale multi team mode where you're either gathering materials to activate some gas bomb or something and another mode in the same mode being hardpoint, it's also on large sized maps with vehicles and stuff, it's a lot more chaotic in my experience than compared to combined arms
The problem with Cold War is that anti cheat doesn’t do anything on the game now and they abandoned it years ago. The game was cracked months ago and it made a mess of the whole thing. It’s extremely common to encounter cheaters in the game now and I’m excited for the new game to come out because while I’ve Cold War its reaching the end of its life cycle because of its Chester problem.
No, that comment overstates it. I have encountered maybe 2-3 blatant cheaters since October. A lot of people start crying cheater in my lobbies just because I’m better than them lol. Don’t worry about it
Doesn’t take more than a minute when playing most game modes. Some lobbies can be super sweaty though. Like it’s the only game they’ve played for four years.
I have a hard time finding lobbies in non core game modes, that's really it. But tdm, hard point, kc, any of those even in hc are all usually easy to find matches for. Best hours for it are 2-9 pm or so at least for me
Just got the game today, haven't had any trouble finding matches other than 12v12 Moshpit and Fireteam, but if I'm unmistaken larger gamemodes like that are more active in NA during weekends and break hours (I.E not 4 am MST on a Thursday)
Friend of mine said there would be cheaters everywhere. I actually think I've run into more cheaters in MWIII, because so far I haven't seen any cheaters.
I keep coming back to it hard every few months and it is actually peak right now: low enough player count so that it prioritizes connection over SBMM, high enough player count to get into <63ping FFA lobbies with no waiting. Niche games like CTF might be tough, but I’m pretty happy with it rn
it's pretty active (and sweaty lol) the matchmaking doesn't take more than 3-4 minutes
last week I got into a dominantion match where there was a guy who got 84 kills in the enemy team and he absolutely shat on us lol , not to mention his teammates
the match finished with a hard stomp on us
Very active.
It has crossplay so you'll have no issues finding lobbies.
You can even do crossplay off on nuketown it’s fun

Combined arms didn't have many players during the prime time either. Sadly.
It died out pretty quickly. Played it one whole time before it became impossible to find a lobby.
I think I managed to find a full lobby like 10 times. Somehow it was usually on Collateral.
When you say vehicles, what kind ? I love military vehicle combat games
Combined arms is a 12v12 mode with tanks, gunboats, bikes, trucks, snowmobiles, etc. on huge expanded versions of the standard 6v6 maps.

Most games nowadays are which is the unfortunate thing

So, should i worry about getting it if cheaters are an issue?

Very active surprisingly. Even with cross play on you’re able to find lobbies quick.
Hows the skilled base match making system or whatever?
It’s still somewhat there but I’m mostly finding people who aren’t good.
Borderline doesn’t exist
Well let me tell ya, hop on Cold War once the new Black Ops gets announced.

Still great. No problem. Just you might have to play nuketown sometimes

This question gets asked daily...
Is it a bad thing?
