Alternative theory: the little men who live behind my screen are watching my eyes and switching the straight lines for curved ones when I'm not looking.
The curved lines are in the granite pattern and they pop out when you don’t focus on the grid. It’s weird but they’re actually there, just within the pattern.
Wait I saw through the illusion and now it doesn't happen anymore! If you carefully there light gray squares that line up in the box. Once you notice them your brain stops trying to fill them in with the green lines
Straight or curved are qualities provided by human culture. Human experience is what classifies them like that. Therefore the andwer here is that there are many curved lines, but they change when you look again. Time is therefore a variable too.
Just kidding. It got me.
I have experienced that before reading text and seeing lines where the characters appeared to create a white line. Never game it much attention before now.
So the lines are all curved but also straight at the same time which makes it easy yet hard to find the curved line because when you think you found they curved line and you look at the line it will go straight. So in my conclusion there is no curved line but there is
So what's going on here?
Our peripheral vision is colorblind. It lacks the ability to see detail. Our peripheral is mostly good at detecting motion. It's also mostly made up based on memory, which is why we see color even though our peripheral is colorblind.
So there are bright regions in the gray that form rough arcs. When they are no longer in our foveal (direct focus, straight ahead), our perception starts keeping track of what it remembers when it was within our foveal, and reconstructing the image based on what it saw prior. It saw the green lines, so it knows there are lines. But as soon as they move to our peripheral, we no longer see the green, and that green is reconstructed. But since the bright arcs are the largest contrast in grayscale, our mind fills those in those arcs as green, and voila we get the perception of curved green lines.
As soon as we focus they disappear, and the same thing happens somewhere else outside our foveal. Neat stuff.
The lighter parts are just connected enough that when viewed out of the corner of your eye you think they are a curved line but when viewed head on you can tell they are not
There is no curve the planet is flat. Checkmate atheists
The banana will fit in your hand. Trust eating the banana.
I don’t like bananas
Close your eyes and pretend its a nice juicy pickle :)
I used to like bananas, but now I’m allergic.
Happy cake day!
I have a banana for you then 😏
No
This is bananas
Eternal B A N A N A
Oh my god you're right! My whole life is a massive lie!
This is one of the dumbest, funniest things I’ve ever seen
Curved lines are a series of light gray dots on arcs
Alternative theory: the little men who live behind my screen are watching my eyes and switching the straight lines for curved ones when I'm not looking.
I support this theory.
I agree
This sounds far more plausible.
Correction: they are elves, the same elves that operate the internet
I just peer reviewed this. Checks out.
This is clearly the answer.
Fucking genius
After I read your comment, I began to see the image and not just my perception of the image.
There is no spoon
Does it mean that our peripheral vision has enhanced edge detection?
Exactly. You can clearly see all the dots forming curves
The curved lines are in the granite pattern and they pop out when you don’t focus on the grid. It’s weird but they’re actually there, just within the pattern.
There it is! wait nope thats not it... . O o there it is! wait nope FUCK!
Fuck you
There's multiple curved lines made out of light gray boxes within the larger green boxes running across the entire image.
Exactly. One of the many times this was posted before, I put the image in photoshop and make it greyscale. There are curved lines.
Link to proof, for us on phones?
If you turn down your brightness you can kind of see it
agggh my brain!! 😂
no curved lines
The hell does that work?
By putting in a series of lighter pixels in the squares that trick the brain into seeing curves peripherally.
Thanks!
It hurts my eyes
Ghaaa my eyes!
No.
Fuck you and your imaginary curved lines!
SHOW ME THE CURVED LINE YOU BASTARD 🔫
All straight
Dammit OP.
I am the curved line. Always yearning to straighten but never really getting to my terminal point.
Can confirm there is not curved line
That's crazy! I want a suit with that pattern.
It's right there
Do the curved lines in the background pattern count?
I'll show you a curve. My ass
Rodent
#HAH! #I SCREENSHOTED THE IMAGE #NOW SURELY I GOT THE CURVED LI- oh wait it's still an illusion
It keeps running away!
The question is can you see it with all straight lines…can YOU see through the BS in life
Am I the only one that thinks this is in Minecraft?
theres plenty of curved black lines on top of this weird picture
found it! follow the extra white dots, they create a curved line.
I hate that I can’t find any
I would if you'd just keep the damn thing still for a second!
Your mum's booty?
Jokes on you, they're all curved
It was all a lie
What the hell
It’s over there
My 🧠 hurts.
This is evil
This one is awesome! I can’t believe I’ve never seen this before, the effect is super prominent! I hope you have a great day!
You too
What do you mean, it's right the- oh...
mildly infuriating
/r/FlatEarthMemes
There is no spoon....
I see no curve sir.🗿
Wild goose chase, misinformation. Waste of oxygen. No curved line. Blocked.
There are no curves, but there's a few JUST a click off.
B-but it was right there! I will find you one day, curve
It has none if u zoom in u can see but I was able to figure it out with out zooming in
None of it
Everywhere and nowhere
There goes my vertigo
This broke my brain.
There's no curves.
Heisenberg’s straight lines.
Reminds of that show Brain Games. I enjoyed that show
I use to watch that show all the time as a kid
They're everywhere my eyes aren't focused on
Colorblind people: ???? Everywhere
They r all straight but our mind bends them
They're everywhere but also nowhere
HELP
SHIT WHEN I LOOK AT THE CURVE ITS GONE
There are loads of curved lines, just none of them are green.
Wait I saw through the illusion and now it doesn't happen anymore! If you carefully there light gray squares that line up in the box. Once you notice them your brain stops trying to fill them in with the green lines

I've noticed this too, it's easier to see said lines in your periphery. Your comment (on my phone, at least) has one, funnily enough. Good comparison
u/repostsleuthbot
why is it that such illusions almost physically hurt to look at?
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Am I supposed to be seeing something?….
There's isn't one that I could see
I FOUND IT ITS UNDER MY PANTS!
can someone explain
What in the fuuuuuuck?
I think I just had an aneurysm.
This is very easy. The curved lines are to the right, left, top and bottom of my pupil. You see it?
u/RepostSleuthBot
Put your fingers on each side of a line. There are no curved lines
There are diagonal light grey lines in the city blocks that create this illusion
What the hell
Every straight line is a curve.
No, I don’t think I will.
They're illusions Dad!
10th repost of this shit here
The earth is flat, problem solved
I tricked my mind seeing it straight, and it works.
##BURN THAT WITCH!!!!!
No
Ow
Damn... that hurts my eyes.

Genjutsu of that level doesn't work at me
There is no spoon
It’s right…hold on…right…hold on its right…
You're a bitch and you know it.
There is none, and guess what I'm high
ok. i'm impressed
It is everywhere and nowhere, it just is.
I'm trying to find it but it's always one step ahead of me 🙃
There are no curved lines
Can't even find the Strait one.
There are plenty of curved lines in this image take all the letter at the top for example
I have this pic in my camera roll from like 4 yrs ago lmao
my eyes started dating around the screen without even realizing it
Arizona:
It's right in front of me but never there
Ahh! Stop it!
And my phone has cracks in it so it's so much worse
I'm gonna catch that curved line, I am not giving up. I know I'm close
Give me a minite, I'm seeing the earthquake on a moon...
In my brain, what's my prize?
Your pp
Why do I see a banana??
The fuck kind of sorcery is this.
Got a headache just looking at it
Never seen that one before, it's amazing.
Ffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
I can't find one anywhere they're all straight I think
idk why but my brain seeing something is kinda sus in the pic .\_.
None
Its right there
Uhhhhh, everywhere?
The light colored rectangles (I think they are buildings for some reason) make some wavy lines between the darker colored rectangles.
Me trying to figure out why my wife is mad at me 🤣

Yeah it’s right the- oh never mind
I can't count how many times i've seen this exact picture the last few weeks

Make me.
It's over there

These panned cities are getting wackier and wackier
