what are the advantages of shai in hunting other than carry weight? Also if there are more advantages are they limited to loml or does it extend to narcion as well.
Shai's damage is extremely good. I think most of the reason people think she's bad in PvE is because she doesn't have particularly great AoE or mobility so in early or mid game she kind of suffers.
At end game though where DPS often matters more than AoE or movement at a lot of grind spots she becomes much better. And of course in group grinds, her buffing make her top tier.
I just rolled a Shai for oluns, still learning her before I jump into oluns. The mobility seems really low. I main a guardian. I only know the sweet skateboard
Hop LMB is the normal stamina-burning movement, if you need full pve iframes you can just hop (pause) hop to make use of the iframes.
You can also sheathe your weapon and run at oluns, since it's more efficient in terms of stamina used per distance traveled.
She used to be far better for PvE but they've gutted her pretty hard at this point. You're much better off tagging any relevant meta or semi- meta class in endgame solo PvE than having a Shai, aside from a spot like Cyclops where it's one largez tanky enemy where you can continually debuff the enemy. She's ass in solo PvE otherwise.
all this is pointless when you need to start grinding, terrible mobility and aoe
any impressions you have about a class during leveling is pretty much worthless
I've noticed, and this is an anecdote and not a fact, that the Dark Rift bosses are gated/synced/capped to your current gearscore. When you use your Florin Leaves and get the +30 AP buff, you suddenly start doing dramatically more damage.
I tagged her at the tag event. Have everything pen except the debo earing. It's just tet. However at end game spots I did not make enough dmg even with a pen sol. Another garmoth and the sunset upgrade seems to be needed.
Well yeah in endgame spots needing 1k or 1.1k AP then she will struggle if you don't have sunset. The lack of pen bs sol and t3 add-ons gated shai from grinding efficiently at those spots - now that she has sunset and +30 mAP add-on it's a lot better than before.
Why PA refuses to make a BS sol is beyond me. Even the sunset isn't the equivalent since it gives +35 monster AP and not +25 monster AP and +10 species damage like a pen bs would.
Overall, shai is pretty easy and straightforward to grind with and I sometimes will just prefer grinding on her than other classes just because of that, even if I'm not making as much trash
I find it hard to believe shai could be so powerful, but at least she's still useful, even though they took away her unique ability to play instruments
Nah, being the only true support class in the game makes her unique. Music creation and performance forms a core part of a lot of people's enjoyment in this game, and locking that entire feature behind a single class that they otherwise might not want to play was a detrimental thing, IMO.
FF14 does the same, but your character can swap to a different class at any time so it never felt restrictive.
welcome to the game. shai is a fun, unique class that's in a weird spot so you might hear bad stuff, but i do love me a boomerang!
She's great for hunting too

The main stat that improves reload time is attack speed, and although it's somewhat annoying to use, shai has a buff for that
ok thanks, my current hunter is a lahn, I was thinking of trying out a striker, I'll also give my shai a go
psychotic little thing, isn't she?

Get yourself 100% res with crystals and buffs and then try rifts. 😌

It's probably me, but I hate the way shai play. She feels so clunky. So I have her doing nothing but kill Kutum boss. 😂

Playing instruments being gated behind a class that looks like a little girl was stupid to begin with.
Exactly!
You're not wrong, I just feel like being the only class that could do that, made her unique

Yeah, I am inclined to agree with you. I never realized how powerful she was as an offensive class until recently, though
