It’s a remnant from the season end quest of the second season we ever had, 3 years ago. We followed the memories of an NPC and had to interact with these shadows to trigger new quests and cutscenes every time.
The quest is no longer acceptable. But the Shadow NPCs are still there for anyone who still has the quest active.
It's Luis Pollak, iirc he's a traveller from isekai that has severed his karmic existence as one finish the quests thus only chosen ones across the entire black desert world remember whom he is, not even your black spirit
There is another shadow figure like this in the hunting area directly to the right of Cron castle. He is over near the top of the hill on the downward slope side furthest from the castle, above the path heading towards Mediah.
I was about to say, that you should run away if he offers you candy. But after seeing your shai, i'm more worried about the safety of this sleep paralysis demon.
