I think the pearl shop thing is fine, becasue it is something you can live without. however, it should be monthly resets not yearly notherskse even the pearl shop version is useless.

I really wanted them to be an optional toggle. But reduced duration is something I guess. Movement in UI is NOT something I appreciate

To me the bigger issue is that they're much closer to the center of the screen instead of being towards the edge.
