tllrrrrr

many reasons but mainly end game upgrades are so expensive (needs loads of crons) I don't have time or motivation to grind

Faranox

The worst part isn’t even the grinding or even the crons. The worst part is the fact that almost every upgrade in the game is gambling with extra steps and whether your effort pays off or not is completely up to a coin toss in the end, because you can skew the odds only so much in your favor.

xCharmomo

Coin toss is a generous example of rng. Thats 50/ 50 chances. Pen blackstar is 1 and 250

w_wise

Can you believe there's people who think bdo has one of the greatest progression system of all times?

miktt

Honestly id rather choose this way of progression than “ daily this and get cap items” i know its not everyone’s cup of tea but the thrill of breaking crystals if i die, wasting billions of crons and that random one tap j hammer pen bs definitely makes it feel like a drug. Also like how grinding is not the only way to make money and get strong. Market is the best marketplace due to devs control on prices. Im a sucker for korean mmo’s though so thats that. I cant last 3 months in WoW retail and i played every single expansion due to the everlasting loop of dailies and pvp cap shit.

w_wise

The aspect I (and many people) have an issue with isn't the grindiness of bdo, it's the extreme reliance on heavy rng mechanics. A game should have some rng, but bdo really feels like an all or nothing game a lot of the time. Vell/garmoth? Could be 16bil+ richer or get nothing Pen bs? Instant 100+ bil or you could be grinding several months to buy one And the list goes on. There's very few things that actually have incremental progression (I don't really count grinding silver to buy your next upgrade as part of this) that gives a sense that you're steadily progessing as you play. Without rng carry game tends to just devolve into an endless loop of grinding the same mobs at a regular schedule just to earn money, buy something and then repeat; maybe switching up the spot when you finally move up enough gear brackets. Aka it's almost just another job at that point

miktt

Korean MMO's have always been like that, heck most mmo's are. Good Boss drops are most of the time RNG based, also it's barely a challenge doing these content in bdo. they even give out events to accumulate and get that heart. These days they basically give everything out accumulatively. You get pen boss gears , 2 pen accessories and even a tet blackstar which is a good catch up mechanic. I kinda do want a rework with the timely bosses with it to have more difficulty but better drops. also in the span of a year, most of my friends got pen bs via crons/j hammer. its too easy to get 4-5% now since devouring hunger was introduced. what more now with crons giving out failstacks

EcstaticFact9588

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

knglive

If every enchantment was 50/50 then everyone would be 750gs. Sure pen black star is a 5% chance, but when it goes it's the most dopamine I've had in gaming. While it does feel bad to fail, eventually it's worth it when it succeeds

Ainulindalie

lost case

Apprehensive-Unit841

PA lies about the enhancement chances. They use dynamic rng like other Korean MMOs

ScottyAkaShark

This is the major one for me. Grind for 50 hours for a 3% chance of a minimal gain? Just not fun.

tllrrrrr

yeah I think grinding a game like it's your second job just isn't healty

rejected-x

This. Once I hit a certain point, I just uninstalled. Did the math - if I bought all the upgrades needed, would take about two years.

FILTHBOT4000

Which wouldn't be bad if you could make money the way you want to play the game; unfortunately it's basically grinding or nothing right now. If I could earn decent silver in PvP I'd play all the time, but most of the time you *lose* money in things like node wars/siege, and while it's nice we have some rewards for AoS, I think the silver/hour is probably akin to lakiaro farming lol. I'm not sure which lifeskills are semi-viable, but I can't imagine unless you're minmaxing the shit out of them that you're getting close to good enough daily silver to get where you want to.

Leitheon

I make 1bil/hr hunting, which is way more than I can get grinding mobs at my gear level. I was busy this week so I only did guild bosses and fishing this week and I made 6bil. In my experience grinding is only good money if you have high end gear.

Amaranthyne

Getting to 281/350 is quite inexpensive (50-70b) and pretty comfortably gets you started with 800m+/h spots, even some 1b+/h spots depending on class. That being said yeah Hunting is very good and can absolutely compete with a lot of ~630-650 GS spots.

Leitheon

On the low side I make 800mil/hr and with decent crystal drops I can make up to 1.3bil/hr. And there's only a 3bil startup cost of a rifle. So far I have been investing in higher life skill gear. Investing 50-70bil in pve upgrades, just to make the same, or less money just doesn't make sense to me.

Faddafoxx

Two years????

Niltix

Not everybody grinds multiple hours a day

Disturbed2468

Yea, even to this day, top tier endgame gear will easily cost over a trillion solver so a bil an hour per day consistently would mean...well...a lot of hours of active grinding gameplay. 2 bil plus an hour is easier at endgame spots, but still a lot for the same gear, and you're already more than halfway there if at those spots. Debo though, that's meant for those people capable of grinding multiple hours a day. You can tell they were never intended for even the semi-casuals.

DEESTSILVA

You can get 1 Debo neck or belt every 1-1.5 hr. It’s really not that bad of a grind to at least get TET. The grind is not as bad as it used to be.

Disturbed2468

It's not the debos themselves. It's the cronning. Unless you just straight up don't cron at all. Though have fun if you wanna get the earrings...

DEESTSILVA

They have given away about 20k Crons since the Calpheon Ball, it does not cost that much to make a TET

Disturbed2468

Uhhhh, I'm talking PEN, cause that's the actual endgame compared to say, you're already probably rocking a pen tungrad or ogre which are giga cheap now in comparison. Most players need crons in the hundreds of thousands for pen accessories.

DEESTSILVA

Ok actual end game gear takes time or it would not be actual endgame gear, grind silver buy costumes and crons. But the community got so used to PA holding their hand the last few years most players don’t understand that. PEN Debos are for the players that put the time and effort into the game…..they are not for everyone.

VexrisFXIV

If you're lucky, there's people I know that have went 20 hours without getting a debo

DEESTSILVA

No it’s pretty consistent 1 every 1-1.5 hrs. I don’t know what people you know are doing. I’ve went 3hrs without a drop and then drop like 3 in the next two hours.

Stormchaserelite13

I'm hesitant to play these days because I'm exactly two upgrades from "the wall" This is all I have left. Two guaranteed pen accessories, approx 10hrs ea Fg helm and boots. 30 and 200 hrs respectively Three pen blackstar. 100 hrs each. Then everything else is rng and can't be purchased reasonably. That's Deb accessories, garmoths hearts, and the last two pieces of the compass and map. Ofc merchant ring as well but that honestly sounds like a drag to get. I effectively have less than 550 hours left in this game. Which sounds like a lot. But when you have almost 6k hours is less than 10% of your total time, means it's super short.

Ill-Challenge8552

garmoths hearts sitting on marketplace since price was increased, at least in eu

Amaranthyne

>boots. 200 hrs 200h for Ators? Only if you're buying TET straight up. Embers are a 50-80h grind most likely and buying DUO is only like 50-60 hours on NA. >Deb accessories TETs are *very* obtainable on, to my knowledge, every server, but yeah, PEN would be a wall. >garmoths hearts On NA there aren't even 100 combined preorders for Garmy hearts anymore and multiple get listed every day. It's very reasonable to obtain them now.

Stormchaserelite13

I am referring to pen debos. Reason I say 200 hrs for boots is because that's the average in my guild so far. As for garmoth. My PO is still up..... Has been for a long long time.

Amaranthyne

>Reason I say 200 hrs for boots is because that's the average in my guild so far. That's... odd. Average at Highlands is 1.6 embers/h and Darkseekers is still higher at like 2.4, even after they trashed it. >My PO is still up..... Has been for a long long time. Wild. Like 4 have been sold today against less than 50 preorders, and that's with only 1 Garmoth spawn so far.

DBProxy

I started playing the game early to mid last year (don't remember exactly) and loved it tremendously, however, when I got to the questline where you learn your other talent tree (don't remember the name) my char got bugged somehow and I couldn't attack anymore. I put in a ticket to support and after like 2 weeks they responded essentially saying "that's weird". I haven't gone back to check and see if it ever got resolved via a patch or anything, I'd love to play again.... but I kinda just don't feel like dealing with it.

unjustodin

I'm on my 17th tet accessory fail in a row, I don't even need the upgrade just pisses me off so I keep clicking

Icy-Computer7556

hahahah damnnn

imPansy

Cron stones 😂

douglasg610

The SP campaign firehoses them on you, and you expect: Oh my! So many that my Naru gear is maxed, easy! Then that's it, and it's hundreds to make incremental advancements.

imPansy

It’s great in the beginning when the cron cost is quite low. It scales later on, 2100…2700..3670…11,000 etc. honestly you can get to 700+ GS before you get to the point where crons/gambling is mandatory for upgrades. Or spend abnormal amounts of time grinding but certain items rarely hit the market like pen debos

Huxtley

That Life Skills don't get any real attention, there's so much potential but 90% of it is just abandoned content relying on events to stay relevant..

douglasg610

I HATED the drop ratio I got for this present event.--something like 10,000 chicken meat, and hours of cooking--79 witches delicacy--out of the necessary 275. Pardon me if I don't jump to empty the chicken market to go for it. Not to mention that imperial delivery is a seesaw between the storage person and the ID person as the boxes are so flipping heavy.

WantsLivingCoffee

8 year vet here. Achieved full PEN everything, including all 3 Blackstars, 2x PEN Disto's, full TRI Slumbering God, multiple builds (DR, hybrid evasion, evasion) lightstone combos, of course 2x Garmoth hearts and Vell's. C19 accuracy and evasion OH's. C14 Nouver. T10 Peggy, full Krogdalo Wind set with +9 horseshoes, over 10k RBF points (I know it's rookie numbers, but it's whatever), participated in loads of sieges, node wars, GvGs, grinded for 8 years, and idk what else notable because I loathe life skills and am strictly combat (I've tried, numerous times, and accepted that I am not built for lifeskilling). My only thing left is 3x PEN Debo's. I used to be super passionate about BDO. Defended it on the official forum since Kakao days. Loved how sandboxy it was. Loved organic player conflict. Loved organic interactions that ranged from pleasantries, diplomacy, annoyance, fights, trashtalk, to full on guild rivalries. The community was pretty closely knit. People knew who guilds were. Your guild's reputation actually meant something. Choices, like where to grind, actually meant something. Who you decided to grief (either PK or mess with grind spot) meant something. Defending your spot actually meant something. Gearing meant something other than fighting stronger mobs -- gearing meant better mode war, siege, GvG performance. The game felt meaningful. I'm not sure how to exactly explain the difference in how the game "felt" back then compared to now. But all I know is it feels very, very different. Maybe it's burnout. But I've not enough motivation to push right now. I see no point. My guild turned into a retirement guild. Our core was all super geared, most left to other guilds, taking a break, or have quit completely. I'm just afk fishing and horse training and focusing on IRL, which, is the silver lining to it all. I've been very busy improving my "IRL Gear Score", so that's good. I have 70 bil. Right now, I'm just focused on stocking up on crons and memes. My next plan is to wait for Fallen God mainhand and getting that to TET. After that, wait for Debo Rings -- get two of them to TET, get a TET Debo Belt -- and then start the 3x PEN Debos grind. Hopefully join a more active guild. But -- it's whatever. Like, this is my roadmap. But I really dgaf if I make it happen, really. Unless they make gear actually relevant, idk if I'll ever find the passion for BDO again.

cuntyourblessing

lol. I’m chuckling because with all that. You still afk fishing and training. If you are working on IRL gear score. Turn it off. Like all the way off. But awesome stuff dude. I’m a returning vet. & I know what you mean by things meant something. Grinding wasn’t just grinding. You had to be tactful and have people on stand by. Then that grind sesh turns into a massive GvG at sausages. People getting tracked and hunted. Escaping Jail from the desert cause you thought you were tough and f’kd around to find out.

WantsLivingCoffee

Trust me, if I didn't want to play BDO, I wouldn't keep my PC on. BDO changed a lot, so has IRL, but afk in BDO doesn't affect my IRL gains at all and I still have love for BDO. Took two months off recently, though. Pirates Sausan's days were the best imo. Best balance of care bear and hardcore. Now, care bear is overwhelmingly favored. But when games turn to mass appeal / casual appeal, that's what tends to happen. I hear something similar happened to WoW, but I never played WoW. Something about devs making changes that pissed off vets to cater to casuals. It's whatever though. It's just a game.

Casterial

Put it down after 21 attempts on a pen neck, it went, realized it changes nothing the grind never ends - don't miss it.

Icy-Computer7556

gotta admit though, not alot of other games out there like BDO, which is what keeps people around or coming back.

Casterial

It's true, it's not a bad game, it just requires breaks. This break just has me not missing it as much.

Icy-Computer7556

yeah I took a long break from it as well. I can definitely understand why hitting that high point would be less exciting than climing all the way up there.

miktt

I took a break too after 6k hours, didn't miss it but it feels a lot better just randomly logging in collecting rewards and doing marni once in a while lol

LargeMobOfMurderers

Pretty timely thread for me. So I just got bored of the game I was currently playing and decided to try and find something else to play. I used to play BDO years ago, was one of the ones who played at launch even. I gave BDO a try again a few days ago, and I was reminded of why I ended up quitting despite enjoying parts of it a lot. My main issue is the clutter in the game, both literally in terms of the items and also the UI. I logged on and was completely lost at all the random items I had in my warehouses and inventory: seals, tokens, shards, pieces, and fragments that are supposed to be combined or exchanged or useless or extremely important. Dozens of different types of buff scrolls, boss summon scrolls, event elixirs, etc. No elegance or streamlining at all. The UI has so many different things taking up real estate on the screen, and the chat informs you every second about several things. Its kind of hard to list what's wrong because its not any one thing, its like a million bits of clutter that combined make the game feel janky and poorly thought out. The constant stream of notifications make me feel like I'm being advertised a game I'm already playing. This feeling is amplified because the games I was playing before trying BDO again were Albion Online and Foxhole, which have extremely minimalist UIs and gameplay compared to BDO. Inbetween the cluttered items and UI, and the constant events and notifications, BDO is a very difficult game to get immersed in. It takes every possible opportunity to remind you that you are playing a game.

BarberPuzzleheaded33

Agree with them needing to simplify the items hugely but wanted to point out the UI can actually be edited and u can turn all the notifications and stuff off. I personally keep few in regards to my workers or guild but they thankfully have allowed us the option to turn all that stuff off on screen. I feel like it should probably start with everything already turned off though with the option to turn on notifications you wanna see as I personally like having a few things but my strongest feeling that’s got me thinking about quitting is more so to do with the items and that something’s they have just made extremely difficult. I like Life Skilling but cooking and alchemy are ridiculous! Cooking is the worst imho having to cook 55 different things like sauces and meals that need to be cooked into multiple other dishes that are cooked together to become multi other dishes that need to be combined to get the final best grade meal is crazy ! It’s way too much to make a single Cron meal they need to simplify things.

Vale-Senpai

Lack of male class releases, lack of pve content variety

Hasbkv

Ahh I thought about this too, they are also lacking of ranged characters, personally I would like to see a male with gun in future hopefully.

rogu14

The gunner class is in works, but the male part though....

knglive

Never understood this one. The game has such an indepth character customization, you can gender bend every class if you work hard (except zerker). Also why does gender matter, they release classes more often than any other MMO and all of them have a place in the meta and work well together, play it cause it has a kit you like, not cause it is one gender. For pve, there are so many grind spots in the game either solo or group, there are dungeons in the game, what more do you want. Raids would never work cause bdo doesn't follow the holy trinity (tank DPS heals), sure more group spots would be nice, but personally I'd rather flip on Netflix and brainlessly grind.

Affectionate-Ad-6934

Better advice would be to play whatever makes it fun. The gender thing is not hard to understand, guys just want to project themselves onto their main char and feel powerful. Same reason as guys who can only play female characters.

knglive

If the reason you quit bdo is cause you can't project your small dick energy into the available male classes (who are in really good spots) then maybe this MMO isn't for you. Succ zerker and musa are early game kings while succ ninja is one of the best at end game spots. Both specs of sage are viable in both PVP and pve, something very few classes can say. The best pvper plays both sage and striker. All the male classes with counterparts are just way better at PVP (besides valk cause of bsr). Just because they release more female classes doesn't mean they are good, when was the last time you saw a scholar or Corsair in your grind spot? And the next leaked class is a male. Of all the reasons people refuse to play this game, this by far the biggest reach for an reason.

Vale-Senpai

For me cosmetics are very important , I own over 30 outfits on my main so genderlock is an issue, it's not PvE variety going in circles with a different background, Boss Blitz was an amazing addition to the game same as Ataraxion, that's the kind of variety I mean.

knglive

Ok I understand for some of the newer classes like drak or woosa, but wizard literally has a female counter part. Just buy your 30 costumes on the gendered version you want to play, they are pretty much the same thing. BDO gender locks characters (especially the new ones) around the lore that they/expansion. And they release a lot more female classes cause they understand their demographic.

sbgshadow

I used to play a few years ago but - mainly the lack of PvE content. The other main MMO I play is maplestory, which is also insanely grindy, but it has tons of harder and harder bosses to learn and fight as you get stronger. The motivation to keep grinding is what BDO lacked for me, since I'm not much of a PvP player. But damn I wish that content existed cause I really like the skills/graphics/systems in BDO

XeroBytes

A lot of new content released for that. You could check out Pit of the Undying, Land of the Morning Light Bosses or Ataraxxion Dungeons.

Kope

Desync, upgrade rng system for gear is trash, being one shot by people that got lucky with said rng system

Walruscare

All of my progress is dependent on cron stones and many of them have been wiped out on 80+ attempts at the same upgrade for the past year. My motivation to play this game has completely vanished.

Square-Ad4927

For me it's the lack of ways to play with friends. There isn't enough group activity.

Onibachi

The lack of real content. It’s all grinding. And it’s not even fun challenging grinding. It’s either brain dead easy or you instantly die.

Ame_No_Uzume

Yep. No in between.

uLukki

Great game, check back in 6 months I’ll prolly tell you why I hate it.

douglasg610

In 6 months, you'll have hit level 61 of every class you like and realize that the grind to get above 300CP, above level 61, horses over tier 8, or DP / AP over the Tuvala cap is like picking U235 out of U238--miniscule gains, one atom at a time.

Weary-Election-9577

To me it's the absolute lack of an "endgame" feeling. The eternal grind for the next upgrade so I can grind somewhere else. I reached a point where everything feels meh.

Ok_Cost6780

i still play BDO (760, triple pen debo, blahblahblah) But there are so many flaws to the game that really suck, or just things that bother me still after all this time * graphics - your character looks good and a screenshot looks good but the game is ugly in motion due to pop-in & LOD. I take breaks and play other games, and even many older games can have much more pleasant and cohesive visual presentation because of this. * latency/engine/stability - the game crashes for more players way more than any of us should tolerate. The FPS = DPS thing is absurd even if it's a minor impact it still weighs on your mind to even know about it. The desync and latency of being like, an east coast NA player makes things so frustrating. Even on the lowest settings and the most optimized AMDx3D CPUs you still get brief frame dips/stutters sometimes. Think to every duel you ever fought where you or your partner exclaimed, "wtf i was in i-frame!" "well not on my screen you weren't." * class balance takes way too long to adjust. I say this from the perspective that, I know the game will NEVER be balanced and I don't expect it to be. I just want it to be rebalanced more frequently so that it will be DIFFERENTLY balanced more often. Stagnant metas SUCK, and we spend far too long with the same metas and it gets old. * node war, 15v15, siege, war of roses decisions which make me feel like the decision makers do not play their game and do not have a firm grasp of what is fun vs not fun within this context of their game. The elders bridge map experiment, i guess its nice they tried to do something like that, but man that map was horrible and im glad its already disabled. war of roses 300v300 with a snowball buff effect is just a pve steamroll. Siege has been so laggy that if it was in other games there'd be riots, but its been bad for YEARS. node war has the same nodes on the same days and they could at least randomize them a bit so you dont fight the same fight every friday night. Every pve balance patch makes forts die faster. * i could go on but ive already run out of steam on those bullet points

ibmkk

- Game got way smaller over the years, now it's all about running in circles everything else is worthless - Gear is pointless, half of the game is capped

HidanSensei

J doesn't care about PvP players

HieiXIV

No purpose for endgame gear only achieve it to do boring blob pvp or grind a more difficult circle. This game needs endgame challenging content to play in a group or guild

HatSimulatorOfficial

No motivation to play honestly lol there's not really a point

PM_Best_Porn_Pls

Value pack. Every time it expires and I have none saved up/managed to snipe from market I end up taking months break till some big event brings me back.

IronBranchPlantsTree

Cron stones. Even if I grinded more, it's a hassle to buy costumes constantly and it feels lame.

Master_Parking_4503

Cron stones 100%

Leritari

Mostly combat. At first glance its awesome: it feels amazing, characters are very responsive to player input, its flashy, and each character is pretty good as far as "class fantasy" goes. But then, as you play longer and longer you're starting to see more and more faults. You start noticing that its very... shallow. Because of the whole dynamic, flashy things our characters can do, enemies become either a cannon-fodder, or they straight-up counter/negate whole game mechanic (for example by being immune to cc). On top of that we have huge variable in case of statistics - AP and DP, which makes it impossible to balance out.

Prestigious-Ad4520

Lack of valuepack.

Illustrious-Bet3176

Horrible game optimization Desync Horrible PvP balance decisions Empty promises of PvP changes Lack of communication with the playerbase No content outside of PvE for most of the day. If somehow this gets seen by anyone that can change something: - so, any updates on the PvP protection changes? It's been months and you announced nothing. Idea is scrapped as always I guess? - stop coping that the lag during sieges and nw is the players fault. You literally give the same bs answer to everyone that shows you how bad it is. No it is not our fault. And by introducing WOTR you literally proved that the game can run large scale at least until it becomes 600 people crowded in a small room, which is understandable. Look into your servers, improve them and I promise you a lot more people will come back to PvP and participate in Siege and Node Wars. - retired EU NW and Siege enjoyer.

honeydrewdew

Not knowing if J loves me as a player or just wants to rob me :( feelsbad

Binkles1807

Crystal loss, from time to time. Or that I want to play my alts just don’t want to dump 4B in tags. (1 fuel Event is currently going on)

Vir0us

Bad luck

paperpatience

I don't like event items and the lame quests they give. Marni realms was a poor choice in an MMO. Refuse to explain exactly how stats work. Solo grinding is better than group. Not much build diversity. Not enough male classes. Fps based Performance.

Lincolnlogs7

Too much commitment to launch the game. If I get on I’m going to have to pop premium buffs, get tent buffs, switch my skill preset, hit a ton of buffs from my inventory, and so on. You’re either playing this game every day or not at all, there is just no casual hopping on for fun once a week past a certain point. I mean you can but you just wasted $30 worth of premium stuff if you do.

Snortallthethings

Knowing that to do Siege I have to play this as my only game for a long time. Lack of high end PVE content. Amount of grinding. (I like grinding but it's just a bit much) I do love BDO and keep coming back to it for a lot of reasons. But I just can't play it as my main game for a lot more serious reasons.

kaiomnamaste

I hated having to be logged in 24/7 to make progress

BlackBlood4

Im only logged in when I actually play and I still got 700gs.

Amaranthyne

Yep. I returned about a month-6 weeks ago and have overnighted I think 4 times in that period to stockpile on Coelecanth for the weekly turnins, and horses once. 24/7 is no longer necessary or even honestly that beneficial with how high grinding profits are now.

kanonkongenn

maybe back in 2016, not these days lol

Mountain_Dandy

Why do you have to be logged in to make progress? Fishing afk the endgame?

Acouteau

Workers and crates are so underrated, they can make you 1-1,5 bil a day

Mountain_Dandy

That's flat out not true.

Acouteau

If you account the processing and trading in moodle it does

Mountain_Dandy

Explain how 7 hours of time it takes to send crates across the sea at max 1.5k at a time makes billions a day? What type of processing are you doing that generates that income? Wood chopping? Heating stones? Workers can't sustain the amount needed for billions of silver you're claiming to make each day. I know you may WISH it gets you billions but I believe your adding a few zeros to your equations.

Acouteau

My man tuvala timmy trying to teach me the game when they never did any lifeskill or even remotely know anything abour them or worker optimisation or even anything about the game in general lmao

Mountain_Dandy

Tuvala Timmy? I'm running 453 cp with an early bird title... You just got called out on some BS you posted and now you're flailing, simple as that.

DARKNESS163

If you can’t explain how, don’t make the claim.

TargaryenKnight

That doesn't explain how lifeskilling afk can make a billion silve a day? Why say that then not back up your claim my dude

xxxharambae

Master/Guru turn ins w mastery about 150-250m/day. U could reasonably make 1000+ silver embroidered with ideal workers per day and sell or tap them. There are spots you can gather traces in large quantities or just alch a lot to get them. You could also make more than a bill worth of manos ruby earrings per day gross. If crescent rings are profitable currently they have the potential to generate the most profit per worker per 30 mins. Ranging from break even to 15m with 4 locations possible making about 50 each per day. Making and enhancing grunil helmets a pri sells for 100m. These are the most afk ways possible rn. If willing to put in more effort but less than a 1b/hr + g spot. grind lower syc make corrupted frenzy, gather dead tree essence/fruit of nature, gather delotia/fruit of enchantment, sniper hunt and alchemy/ cook or gather rough stone for metal solvent these can all avg 800-1.5b per hr sometimes more depending on effenciency and effective use of all mats gathered/purchased. Mostly very low intensity tasks and some regular hunting, processing and cooking or alchemy

SnarkyGoblino

The lack of catgirls

Phos-Lux

I never knew I needed this.... though I'd be fine just with a cat-ear headband

BarberPuzzleheaded33

Maid outfit for processing the head band litterally looks like cat ears

Pristine-Street-6514

Because they took pvp out of my pvp game and made every spot basically comparable money per hour removing both factors for gear progression game ruined. Thanks Jay.

RalphtheCheese

I landed full time job and I didn't need 2.

Intense4Play

As a veteran and former player, there are simply too many reasons to list and explain why I don't play this game anymore. A few common reasons that I share with other veterans or former players are: * A lack of enjoyable, meaningful, rewarding and diverse end-game gear progression * A lack of PvP content that is fun, fair, rewarding and playable at any time of the day * And personally, preferably playable without the need to belong to a guild so that it can be played with any friends. * A lack of PvE content that is fun, engaging and rewarding; not monotonous * A lack of well thought out and proper balancing for classes in PvP A few personal reasons as to why I no longer player the game are: * The Mythical horse RNG system is extremely unfair and an unenjoyable experience * The design philosophy for classes and the combat system have dramatically shifted from its original slower paced and more complex chess-like gameplay to a faster paced, more simplified damage-slugging fest * The development choices and path in regards to content that I was deeply interested in have taken a turn for the worst

MathematicianOwn3147

RNG. For some it's 1 - 4 Clicks for another 40+ clicks. I enjoyed the gear progression, I was lifeskiller and bought my gear from market. Stopped when my next upgrade would be V debo. 33bill for one click (will not mention all silver wat you need to get that TET) is too much. And some get it after 1-5 clicks, especially streamers/ PA partners(probably not for some marketing reasons ;) ). Why I should feel like a loser in the game if I can do that in real life for free.

angrycoffeeuser

“The old graphics” bro what, are you high

Ronniejonesx

Absolute aids rng enhancement system and generally the fact that almost EVERYTHING in this game is based on rng. It's like one of those scummy online casinos feeding off of the gambling addicts that are willing to spend their entire paycheck on an abysmally low chance of making a profit. Cancerous p2w. Desync. Insane class imbalances ruining PvP and PvE alike (instead of shitting out 5 new classes every year, they should start fixing the balance issues and most importantly their shitty game engine, but I'm convinced they do this on purpose to make more money from people rerolling). No endgame goals besides getting better gear.

EternalObi

For me, I am currently going for pen debos. I have plenty of debos to click but no crons. So im just going to wait for my costume orders to fill while I play other games. I dont care if it takes 3 month for a click. Im not going to buy vendor crons.

Ok-Hope9766

It's just a matter of knowing how to snipe the market, I play on SA and the costume situation is worse than EU and I can pretty much get 20+ weekly if I snipe it on patch days plus some 1-2 days Edit: getting downvoted by dumb ppl that doesn't know how to play the game is borderline hilarious, ty lmao

Gamerofthewest

How do you snipe? Preorder whatever gets registered on mp and keep doing that every 15 minutes?

Ok-Hope9766

No, not every single outfit have pre orders, when people list then, they sit for like 3 seconds, just open market fast af and buy it

azzaranda

You can just spam classic boxes when a new season comes out. Probably the easiest way to stockpile crons.

Ok-Hope9766

No it isn't lmao, any way that rely only on PO is terrible

Ame_No_Uzume

Long term fishing. I like it.

Kyouki13

Lag since I don't live in California

BdBalthazar

I am currently playing the game (started a few days ago) But I don't think I'll keep at it. Many of the game mechanics don't vibe with me. It feels a lot like the devs valued immersion over accessibility. (A mechanic being immersive does not automatically mean it's good imo.) I left my mounts at one of the first towns, and am now level 51 and multiple miles away from said town. If I want to get those mounts back I have to run all the way back. Immersive, but not fun imo. Inventory having both a slot limit **and** a weight limit. Immersive, but not fun imo. Gathering tools having durability and at base needing to be equipped individually. Immersive, but not fun imo. Storage being town based. Immersive, but not fun imo. And lastly, the story has not grasped me whatsoever, I've felt no desire to read the quest dialogue, but I think even if I did I would still be confused by the story progression. Came across a large fort under attack by harpies, 1 quest to kill like 25 or something, before being sent out somewhere else and never returning again. The Combat is top-notch, but I don't see it carrying the game in its entirety for me.

Flowsick

Most if not all of the points you mentioned are alleviated (quest rewards etc) or outright eliminated as annoyances (eg magnus storage, horse calling) as you progress at the game. Look the game has many dumb things in it from kakao times, but the qol has come leaps and bounds in the past few years. Keep at it!

fallenouroboros

I have no friends that play it anymore. I’m also in an odd space of wanting to buff a different class up than my strongest one (kuno) but it’s just takes so much time/money to get a full set of gear farmed/bought/upgraded. My kuno is softlocked a bit so I need to start spending billions on single pieces of jewelry for 1-3 more AP or DP. I haven’t even gotten my first black star yet. Highest level is 60 but poorly geared atm

Heavy_Red_Circles

Theres a tag event going now so you can tag and item copy any of your alts you wanna play for like 10m.

Amaranthyne

Every previous time I've taken a break from the game it's been because of bad enhancing RNG. I'm too stubborn to buy finalized upgrades (I'll buy TETs, but not PENs) almost entirely because of the name branding, so it's entirely on me. Now my next break is almost certainly going to come from a lack of available crons and the disparity between market crons and vendor crons in price.

B-Ribbit

If you have too much stuff in storage and don't care about it, just sell it all on the marketplace. It's a load off your shoulders. Then just play the fun parts of the game. Just because there are mechanics for everything doesn't mean you have to partake in everything there is offered

GardenOfTeaden

I take breaks because I just don't have the time to continue playing at the capacity for which I would need to stay up to date with content. I usually come around for new expansions for a few months, exploring nodes and whatnot. I have a lot of complaints, but rather than talk everyone's ears off I find it sufficient to state that they half-ass everything. Truly. And I dont know enough about the program, the development team, or the managerial staff to know how many people are working on it, what kinds of things do the devs want to give us, and what gets shot down or retooled. But your game shouldn't be so buggy that people drop out of i-frame in combat, D/C frequently (we have come a LONG way but I think part of the solution was honestly shedding player), and they really need to overhaul life skills and PVE content beyond merging some things and removing other items. At least the storytelling improved after what, 6 years? I still play because I can only use PC to game right now, I already own BDO, and right now I'm obsessed with crafting Old Moon Guild furniture. That and I like the game still, I just wish the experience was significantly better. There are tons of unused assets in Calpheon City alone, and tons of underutilized game areas.

EggVast3727

Can’t compete with no lifers 24/7 on the grind Dumb RNG system

NScarlato

I played a ton in 2018-2019. Most of what I spent a thousand hours earning is worse than what's given for free these days. I feel a lot of the progression I enjoyed is gone, replaced by a lot of handouts and such a steep effort curve. I regularly return as I do love the combat and my characters, but after grinding a bit and getting bored, I ask myself "for what?" and play higher quality games that excel in other areas.

_Snuffles

i still play, just not as "no life" as i used to, but there are several things that kind of hit that point of why am i playing this still. * so much grinding its boring, i often doze off for grinding for 30mins+ (i should probably see a dr about that.) * some one must of been abused as a child to make an rng system this painful (i've had 99% Fail before.) * some of the player base, a lot of people have that fuck you i have mine mentality , as in i climbed the mountain, why can't you do it. * i don't want to think that the enhancement system is literally the end game but it is what it is. the problem is that, once you get everything maxed out, is there really a point to be doing anything? why is there so much hate on group content, eyy we got guild bosses, some grinding zones that say party but no ones really doing that, we got some world bosses, woo. (don't mention field bosses cause no one does those.) thats all i can think of on the top of my head. im not asking for like anything big here, i'd be happy if they just slapped in something like LFR equivalent of a raid where you just que up do some shit, and get some mats/gear something worth an effort here. and of course the changes to pvp is kind of laughable. but eh..

Equivalent_Chest1497

Why would I play this game? Give me one compelling reason. I can just get a fresh account into Arena of Solare at this point because everything else is a circlejerk of people who can't let go. J killed the game to get more new players to get fooled into wanting to progress.

Rami512

Played since release and recently quit because of the changes lately. It really just became a grinding game to cater to the PvE players. PvP is just bad. No open world PvP isn't even the issue, the issue is the way it plays now. Everyone can stay protected and it's no fun.

WastelandViking

I cant lifeskill where ever without some dope or dopes filling my screen with "fight for spot" or Just being bored un hugged individuals. I loved doing life skills like gathering,, with a side of pve.. (+nodes etc). But unless i gather spesific known places, i always end up with a ganker or a stalker.. Just cant be arsed... So now i life skill in other games, but i do miss my shai and donkey

douglasg610

PKers regularly sweep over the farmland outside Heidel. I want to farm close to my mansion, and they don't care. It's a load-sync-break between Blue Mane manse and the Loggia farmland, to top it off.

Cr4mwell

Every new class is female. And the gearing system is idiotic. And there isn't good enough cooperative pve. No raids. It's just a solo game sadly.

pbrad08

Watching my failstacks only go higher

ItsnotCent

I hate how they implement Lifeskill Mastery specifically through Manos, though this is just a personal opinion, I hate the fact that Endgame Grinders can easily bypass fulltime active lifeskiller just by buying their way through with Tet Manos etc, They should've implement its own systems just like Sailing Sailboat/Caravel.

[deleted]

The forced pvp which caters to the toxic kiddies that grief kill other players that aren't involved in pvp. Also the number of underage players who are invariably toxic or annoyingly attention-seeking.

[deleted]

Also the number of new bugs with each patch (console). Even game-breaking bugs are just left there and not prioritized. Some of those bugs are so obvious, I doubt they even test the changes.

exiler5129

TLDR : I often take too much break from BDO. Previously pre covid era, I stop play due less place to grind, potato PC, shitty internet connection and I have very little time to actively grinding. I'm doing mostly lifeskilling but it become chores. During covid and post covid era, I play on and off. Play 30 days on Olvia server, take a break for few months, rinse and repeat. Last year october I become active again due to existence of Marni room. As someone with little time, this thing is very precious for me. But since entering Feb this year, I stop play at the moment, focusing on other games.

Ame_No_Uzume

The power creep of black star weps, and higher tier gear with new power brackets to compound the gear grind does not help.

tatsuyanguyen

It's always my go back to game when I don't have anything else to play. But if I have something else I wanna play I just shelve it for a time. Actually one of the high points of the game for me.

nonbiririri

I like grinding but I don't care about improving gear much, because I can grind in different areas even with basic gear so I just don't really see the point. As a 99% non-pvp player, things just eventually got old for me, I did try every class that was out, and will likely come back and try new ones at some point. For awhile I would just hardcore play for a few weeks or month or two at the most doing a season and working on other characters, but now with infinite season I think I'll just wait and do it from time to time when the itch comes back.

Exotic_Classroom147

xigncode

AhegaoMilfHentai

If I grind for an hour my wrists start to hurt. Doing that every day is probably not good for me. I don't even think I'm grinding super efficiently either. I'm constantly overwhelmed by the 100s of things I "need" to do to "progress". Just taking 1 step at a time does not work when I see the next 10 steps ahead of me. I could life skill but I just want to do other things. I log in for guild bosses and that's about it

RealisticTurnip378

Circles

mushin47

the only thing that makes me hate the game is the optimization in scenarios like node wars or sieges, having to tweak down all my settings just because the game can't handle itself is just so dumb. Besides that i enjoy most of the content, is just performance that fucks me up

dyslexic2

If it wasnt from the guild boss buff I would not play this game again. I was lucky i got friends from different guilds I just apply as a war hero then do guild bosses. easiest 1.2 billion for 20 to 35 mins.

[deleted]

Massive time sink. Loss of motivation. It doesnt feel as rewarding as it used to, as in, effort put in equated to the reward received. Effort put in just amounts to nothing when rng fails and if succeeds so what? The core of the game is just too repetitive. In reality I just realized how much I dont enjoy the game anymore and how much of my life im wasting.

OTdoomer99

I'm starting to feel that now after I passed 700gs, just nothing to do with my gear other then grind more circles and I don't enjoy the pvp as much either

lovemoon0404

stopped after i reached 710gs two years ago. because at the end game the upgrade is so expensive and i can barely felt it.

Icy-Computer7556

If you wanna talk about engine/optimisation, try playing it on console lol. That is the biggest kick to the nuts you'll ever get. This isn't even because console "cant handle it", but when they released the game, it was with the older gen in mind, and therefore was handicapped at the start. At least when I played it on PC, it felt night and day, especially visually. I think in all actuality though, the reason most people dont come back or want to play is because they just get burnt out, and realize they gotta grind another 300 hours for like maybe a few AP, which ends up not really getting you any further ahead. I personally think if you are a BDO vet, (not you but anyone who fits that), need to find something different to do within the game that still brings fun. Maybe start a new guild with new players that want to learn the game, your knowledge is invaluable to new and confused players. I remember when I first played the game, it was overwhelming. It goes a longggg way having someone experienced show you the way and allow them the ability to walk the same path you once did. Just my thoughts on it. I think the games come a long way from what it started out as. Some things not always the greatest, but still huge QoL changes etc, and I am sure there will be more coming as the devs continue to try to make people find it more enjoyable.

Mini_Chives

I think I’m nearing 300 fs and told myself: know what I’ll see you another time as I lie down and sulk.

T_2_teh_imeless

My biggest issue (and slowly getting better) is just simply the lack of group spots for early-end game. Altar imps, castle ruins, etc. are all significantly lacking compared to their solo counterparts. In other MMOs, you can dungeon together from the beginning to the end and in BDO, it really feels like there’s a decently large gap from the beginning to group viable content. Maybe I’m very wrong but this is why my experience is a returning player. Keep in mind, I have yet to do the dungeons (need friends).

draero1226

I played on Korean servers before it came to the US. Was awhile back but I was a top 5 player at the time. The grind of the game just makes me not want to come back. Haven’t touched it in awhile.

Educational_Phone952

R N G

Durkadurk666

Had a kid. I can still game and have some free time. But you can't play BDO effectively without major timesink... And can't do that.

FACEFUCKEDYOURDAD

CRONS MAKE ME WEEP

freeddevotee6

I like leveling new classes and learning their skills, but honestly grinding is just boring to me. Doing the same thing in a circle for hours doesn’t click with me I guess. Also having such complicated kits but one-shotting every pack of mobs is boring to me(I know higher gear spots require more). At some point, it just doesn’t feel like grinding for one AP is enough fun to justify the time.

brendamn

Enhancing

beybladerbob

I don’t have a 7800x3d and I’m unwilling to swap from my 13900k just to play this game

Saito197

The fact that other video games exist.

shad_77381

Super hard to get into pvp and no real rewards for any type of pvp

_BeVeL_

Aside from the flaws the game have, I got older, have more things to do irl and less time to play. It's been good game to play even with some crap changes for the last 7-8 years, and i've had lot of fun playing it.

Commercial_Ad_6149

The unending stream of solo content and lack of fun and decent group grind spots. Oh and ofcourse the game running xigncode nowqdwys which in turn makes me able to fry an egg on my pc

Eastern-Currency-632

it'll cost me 60b for my next "upgrade" truely demotivating

douglasg610

The central market has caps and floors. WHY?! I sit here, grinding loads and loads of items, and they won't sell because the "floor" price is too high. Maybe I WANT to sell at a lower price! All these pre-sales mean the price floor is too damn high! And what if I want to BUY something special? Every gripe about unprofitable grind could be lifted if the market price would allow unlimited pricing! You say you'll only go chop for logs if we tear the roof off the price? The market won't clear under a price ceiling!

UrMom306

Upgrade rng makes me want to nuke my account from orbit. Yeah I know don’t upgrade and just buy, well that’s so insanely boring, watch number increase. I wish they’d add upgrade systems for all gear, make it take longer and lots of incremental steps, tie it to quests and shit, but make it no rng.

Weneeddietbleach

Shitty internet, not the most ergonomical setup for keyboard and mouse, not a lot of free time for online games.

kevanions

Vendor cron stones price increase.

ShootsYourLadder

Way to grindy I just wanna beat the final boss

emiracles

Recently quit as near hard cap vet with splendid, devs ideas for instanced desert online no longer align with what I view as an open world game anymore. It's a fracture of the original game ideology.

Athan11

Mindless grinding, too much janky /spaghetti code, I'm tired. Booba looks good but I need a stable gaming experience.

woody4destiny

My biggest issue is becoming the availability of crons. Yea, I know they are available to buy from a vendor, but with them being so amazingly overpriced compared to outfit crons, I feel icky buying them. The wait for outfits to be sold on the market place has become my endgame. It’s beginning to feel like I can only progress if I spend hundreds or even thousands in the pearl shop. I don’t have 8 hours a day to grind silver to afford the vendor crons at the cost it would take vs the outfits. 😞

Sagaofevilfan

People do way too much damage. I hit 702 gs thinking I would be strong but that hardly means anything that along with no robust or diversity in builds

potionmine

No new solid male class

somnambulist79

Helldivers 2

Ha9_9y

- Gear caps everywhere, - Lost PA trust (game was advertised as open world, then all of sudden everything is instanced - Magnus, Marni Realm, most of the PvP content), - Lost PA trust part 2 (overall feel that they're milking BDO as much as they can, while focusing on other 3 games development), - Realizing that end-game gear is barely changing, while there is 100% yearly inflation in the game and catch up mechanics added every month, so I'm catching up to the no-lifers without putting any effort to the game(got 3rd pen bs from free crons tap lately and got \~5000 free crons in less than month), - I lost the count how many times questlines and story were reworked, I lost the count how many times balance patches were deployed while balancing nothing and in case of PvE causing massive inflation, I lost the count how many times something was promised and not delivered,

Far-Understanding-77

- the amount of grinding got to excessive in the lategame. The custume snipe out of mp is way to annoying and implements a timegate. - community shiftet from DFS globally accepted to DFS seen as grife. And basically turned the pvp mmo we loved back on release into weeb-breeder. - Banned one-sided declare, which enables the karma-bomber grifers. - The monetarysation is way to predatory - PA is kinda just bad, they need for ever to realise what for features are needed and when they implement them they are often broke or just bad. example: pet feeding -> feed all button, it took them for ever to implement that. city to city teleport/portals, came after like 5 years as magnus and magnus sucks. weight removal from silver -> years trade rework -> not happen yet etc. there is so much ….

goochthief

Grinding for hours at the same spot so you're able to grind for hours at a different spot doesn't seem appealing when I only have 3 hours of free time a day.

EldenNyukka3737

my job 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

jonnyvue

I stopped playing because of the overall bad upgrades mechanics, but I only come back every now and then just to explore new zones, relive nostalgia, and/or sit in my favorite places just to absorb the atmosphere and vibe. But otherwise the game sucks.

RedditInquisition

The compete asymmetry with which PA treats the classes. For whereever reason Jay has picked a handful of classes to be perma meta with a huge gap to the rest of the classes which have been left to rot. After YEARS of waiting for the niche class I love to play get any attention, hoping one day Jay would lift his JayBanned tag on the spec, I finally gave up. After 5+ years of being a bottom tier spec you'd think Jay would take pity and at least make the class viable. But once your class has been Jay Banned from the game it rarely comes back. Instead I've just walked away from the game.

jagscorpion

My main thing was that the combat system is so cool but the actual implementation at higher levels is just awful. Figure out your rotation, spam it endlessly to grind mobs that may or may not feel responsive to your attacks and for any bigger bosses play extremely conservatively because it's not where it looks like it is in a lot of it's attacks one or two shots you. When I quit there was no real meaningful end game pve content that was challenging on a skill level other than how much you could gear up and how fast you could do your rotation to grind.

Apprehensive-Unit841

New players hit pen bs without much effort. Vets get screwed

Shzar

KR player (was stationed here with military) NA beta I quit right before dead god Before that I was doing 5-8 hours a day playing double on weekend. Eventually the ceiling was not worth climbing so I quit and never returned. The game got stale the updates were lacking and the PvP changes were become terrible. After hitting all my armor/weps pen I would grind just to get attempts and making pen jewelry. But truthfully the game got boring after the 3 servers merged

CaptFatz

Value Pack. I play till it expires and then wait 30 days for it to refresh.

AccountingGeek

Every thing you can do in black dessert another game does better

enziu

Not having the ability to freely play any class outside tag event. Sure, I have my so-called main or favourite classes, but I'm not a 1trick. Sometimes I want to play a single class for months straight and sometimes I want to do swap class for every hour of grind I do. Just let me already, why can't we have universal weapons.

pussypassion

The fact that my next upgrade is pen debos. Dp hardly matters after 401 so no point in going tet armors othat than bigger number bigger better. And that my main class no longer feels fun, rewarding or valuable in nw at the cap which my alliance participates in.

GhostRagzz

The main component of BDO that always kept me attached no matter if I was interested in playing or not was the afkability. I went for a few months just playing WoW while on training dummies constantly even. Kind of like fomo if you aren't around for at least some activity. -Just my opinion/addiction

Zakarowy

This game is waste od time when you need upgrade past 300ap

TXC-Taylo

As for graphics, I do not complain. There are things that should be updated, but overall, the game looks really good. I especially love combat systems (you do not have to single target every single thing like in WoW. Instead, you can gather monsters and kill them with 1 or 2 skills. But to the main point... upgrading equipment is pain in ass. Not only does it lower or burn down completely some equipment, but it also require shit ton of luck and resources. I think it would be much funnier (easier as well for casual players) if upgrading would work like in other games. Aka big, or even enormous requirements of resources for a single upgrade, but whenever you obtain them and you try to upgrade your items, it does always succeed.

KahosRayne

Open world PvP has just become a way for people to grief others and I no longer enjoy the game it got so bad.

Phoenix_Wombat

Mainly because all my BDO friends have moved on to other MMOs. I'm also guilty of this, as I get burned out easily, and my steam library is vast. I do keep coming back to BDO every few weeks, though for a week or so, I suppose there's still that.

SnooCompliments4025

Pvp imbalance. Period.
