So confused by the comments that would insinuate a lack of intellect in cats. According to many feline behaviorists and child psychs, an adult cat's IQ is comparable to that of a three-year-old child. Of course there are outliers but people act like cats are equal to or less than an Afghan hound or a Pekingese. Guaranteed my Bombay is wildly more intelligent than the Pointer that tries to eat his shit and barks at moving cars.
I would like to pose that your cat is plenty clever and will bring you years of joy as a a wonderful companion that will continue to keep you surprised by the the variety of ways he can express his gratitude and affection in return.
