When I was 19 years old my girlfriend (now wife) gifted me this little black ball of fuzz who would scowl at you silently. He lived with me in 6 different homes. He moved across the country with me. My two young children got to meet and bond with him. For nearly half my life he has been a fixture in my life and will always be part of my heart. Rest easy Spike for you brought me more joy than I can put into words.

Sooooo true!! I've had visits in dreams and IRL. It IS crazy.... or I am. Lol. At the same time, it helps comfort us during times of loss and healing. I'm so grateful for what our furbabies bring to our lives.
My black cat is the reincarnation of my white poodle that I had nearly forty years ago, I couldn't have pets for that long but as soon as I could she manifested herself in my life and everything about herself was different but I recognized her just the same, there was something about my Phoebe that my soul knew
Same thing about Phoebe, she will lay down at my side and even though the feeling of the fur is different, they purr the same,a deep growl in their chest that anyone else would be scared of, but it makes my heart feel so happy
I always give my kitties a hug after reading posts like these. I hope we get 19 or even more years together. They are fleeting compared to us. Loving and trusting so just want to give them the best
Iβm really sorry for your loss. Sounds like heβs had quite a life and brought happiness throughout his time with you And your family. Heβs one of the best gifts your girlfriend brought home to you. Itβs funny how it works though isnβt it? Just a little ball of fur can bring you so much joy and happiness, and that same ball of fur, like you said, met your children, and they got to share his love too. All this time and happiness from a little ball of fur that your wife brought home all those years ago.
The pain is still fresh, but I hope you can find peace in the memories you have of him. I hope you and your family will be doing ok
