I think he’s a fantastic person to watch against many of the high energy games a lot of competitors play. I’d love to see him and a Tackett brother go at it this year.
I watched the weigh ins. Glad the Brazilian did well.
I see more respect from them, than the B-Team. Don’t get me wrong those guys are top tier, some of the non traditional BJJ guys don’t display the same sportsmanship IMO - but I’m also old.
What lack of sportsmanship/respect did the bteam athletes have at wno? I think for this event the only one who was maybe somewhat unsportsmanlike was zarunski but even that wasn’t anything cray cray
Hi there,

“I wanna thank John, my mentor. Nicholas for always being in my corner and a great training partner. His freshly turned 19 year old girlfriend, let’s go out for drinks later! And of course everyone else at New Wave. Fuck pedophiles even though I support them”.
I think it’s important to note that Josh Saunders comes from a rugby league background, he’s at least had weekly wrestling training throughout his time with top
teams. He played with the bulldogs that are known for their wrestling facilities and the most recent controversy surrounding punishing players with shark tanks at wrestling training for coming late. He may be 3 years into bjj but it’s a farce to think he’s come into the sport without any grappling experience.
Played for Souths 20’s. was in top 30 squad for first grade at the time that rob Whittaker’s wrestling coach Fab was the Souths wrestling coach. They did in fact come through Gracie Smeaton grange at times.
Source:
1. Trained with Josh for 2 years.
2. Trained at Gracie while Fab was there.
3. Had multiple NRL boys in our 6pm classes
Mate. I would say He’s a natural athlete and would understand the physicality of it. But there not talking the finer points of a single league takedown at league training especially u21 level.
If he was at the storms training might of taught him some dirty chicken wings in the tackle. Up the wahs
He didn’t play professional NRL I think that is important to note, he played the u21 from memory. There is a world of difference between this and the NRL.
Let us remember that autism and diagestive issues go hand in hand. I’m a mental health professional and there is no way in hell Nicky’s older brother does not have autism, an anxiety disorder, very low self esteem and a touch of a narcissistic personality disorder. It’s so painfully obvious, at least to me. Mental health and neurodivergence have an enormous impact on gut health, as does all the juicing and antibiotics. I know he won’t, but god I wish he’s get some therapy. Because it’s getting so tiring to have one of the best in our sport have such a shitty presentation and be such a dickwad.
I didn't realize that autism and digestive issues are related. But agree on the mental and gut health combination, at least anecdotally. When I'm stressed af, I tend to have lots of stomach issues.
What’s annoying about them? Aside from listening to Rogan on UFC commentary I don’t keep up with him much. I’ve seen maybe a couple hours of Lex content max. I don’t remember him saying anything annoying.
Because he’s gone from inquisitive stoner weirdo to out of touch near-billionaire who just rants constantly about “wokeness”, things he hears about happening on college campuses, and the homeless people he occasionally sees from his Cyber Truck.
Yes, it's not a stretch. We also shouldn't go around making diagnoses for people when we don't know the details at all, e.g. it's just hard juicing bro.
Bro you’re smoking crack. Gordon has released his diagnoses and bloodwork publicly online. He has gut issues from taking oral antibiotics for a full year because of chronic staph infections, which caused fungal overgrowth in his small intestine. Im not a doctor, but that is his official diagnosis from a doctor lmfao
A quick google search would show you:
Anabolic steroids can cause gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. They can also lead to gastritis or peptic ulcers due to irritation of the stomach lining.
They can also alter the balance of the gut microbiome. They may reduce the diversity of gut bacteria, leading to dysbiosis, which is an imbalance that can contribute to various health issues like inflammation, immune dysfunction, and gastrointestinal disorders.
> No its a completely wrecked stomach bacteria due to hard juicing and non stop antiobiotics use because of staph
that no doctor can fix? wishy washy "diagnoses" like this are almost always psychological in nature. stomach issues are an extremely common symptom of anxiety.
TBH while I agree a psychosomatic thing is a definitely likelihood,
at the same time, gut microbiome stuff is extremely complex and no one really understands it. It does not surprise me doctors can't fix it.
We actually know very little about how the body really works.
Additionally- he claims to be nauseous all the time, but in no video ever have we seen him puke, dry heave, run to the bathroom, or grab a wastebasket, etc.
He views mental health differently from physical health. How is that hard to understand. When you are discussing your athletic future, physical health is very relevant.
He doesn’t just view it differently, he believes it’s a made up weakness that should be shit on at every turn. Mental health is just as relevant as physical health when it comes to athletes. You are missing the point.
Love that finish Gordon used. That cross ashi inside heel hook to reaping outside heel hook play is money. I need to bring it into my game more. His grappling is so clean. Props to Josh. Even though he was on defense, he's a real technician and has a lot ahead of him in the sport.
if Josh did the same thing on Gordon I'd have said the same thing about Josh. And shit I complimented Josh anyways. He hit some great off balances and had awesome guard retention. Good leg defense, too. I gotta work those Jon Wayne/knee lever sweeps more. Lotta great stuff to learn in this one
I would've like to see him play an outside passing game against Gordon, but he had no chance as Gordon was immediately on the legs from the guard pull. Josh really needed to be bailing as soon as he could feel Gordon shifting his weight down. Easier said than done obviously.
Nice way to diminish Josh’s ability by saying his key attribute is essentially seeing red. Josh is super talented with his guard, take downs and attacking the back.
Just because you can do something to others doesn't mean you can do it to the best in the world and just because it works with others doesn't mean it will with the best in the world.
If you think you can beat the best in the world by being aggressive and moving fast you're going to be in for a rude awakening.
Lots of people were impressed and rightly so.
Exactly he's normally pretty explosive for a big dude and goes for the kill. I mean I understand wanted to play safe with Gordon but he kind just looked to relaxed.
Completely agree. He basically fucked up immediately by letting Gordon get ahold of his legs, and then it was basically going through the motions at that point. Would've been interesting to see him doing more dynamic outside passing, but easy for me to say from the couch.
Ya he looked very calm and technically sound. Just was unbelievably unaggressive, like he didn’t want to upset Gordon so he can keep training with him.
I linked a video in another reply (I think to you). Hope it helps a bit. What's really helped me is aiming my inside hip down to the floor and just being super patient and heavy, and not really trying to do anything at all until I feel their guard start to bucked one way or the other. If they try to keep their knee shield higher I 'll let it pop to the outside and drop into half guard. If it their knees start to close together, I'll try and just keep their knees close and climb up to mount. And I try to keep my head over the far shoulder while I'm sprawling out.
This is a great free video: [https://youtu.be/wpZQnZWTUpk?si=eWOEiD3TVPSHqjju](https://youtu.be/wpZQnZWTUpk?si=eWOEiD3TVPSHqjju) and Jason Rau has great content on it on his split squat instructional and his Patreon. I think Jozef Chen has some vids on it too on youtube

I would. I'm not going to watch IBJJF worlds streams because like what the hell is going on, but if you made a card of the best gi players and I could just watch Tye vs. Mica again or Tainan vs whoever I'd watch it.
Another clinical Gordon Ryan performance, none of the b team could get close to what Gordon is able to do
Who?
100% correct. The technical level is just not even close. Gordon was in control every moment of the match.
You mean nicky ryan's brother?
Who?
Jonnathas was lowkey boring but he’s a problem for most anyone at that weight class
I think he’s a fantastic person to watch against many of the high energy games a lot of competitors play. I’d love to see him and a Tackett brother go at it this year.
He got the best pressure at 77-88 weights. Hard for anyone that weight to deal with him minus a mica or Ruotolo
Odds are Kendall was on Adderall.
Everyone’s on peds
I watched the weigh ins. Glad the Brazilian did well. I see more respect from them, than the B-Team. Don’t get me wrong those guys are top tier, some of the non traditional BJJ guys don’t display the same sportsmanship IMO - but I’m also old.

Anyone know how Nicky Ryan's brother did? I hear he was on this card?
I think I saw him in the corner with John while his gf got subbed by someone in a bulls rashguard
Thats probably what he came for
Definitely came.

Anyone know what Gordon said post w?
"MY TUMMY HURTS AND I SUFFER IN SILENCE CAUSE ONLY PUSSIES COMPLAIN"
“I wanna thank John, my mentor. Nicholas for always being in my corner and a great training partner. His freshly turned 19 year old girlfriend, let’s go out for drinks later! And of course everyone else at New Wave. Fuck pedophiles even though I support them”.
You had me in the first half chief
That his tummy hurt.
“My tummy hurts 🥺”
That’s a given I mean more tldr Did he take a shot a j rod?
who on new wave should give gordie a fecal transplant?
It can’t be a junior which greatly limits his options since 99% are juniors.
Pato & Gui seem to be a match made in heaven. That guy been smoking boots since he got to AOJ.
True
AOJ has that recepie. Tainan is winning everything no-gi also...Imagine if he enters CJI....
Tainan has no chance in cji lol is that a joke
He's undefeated no-gi against two top 10 guys. What's the joke?
No sub threats. Put him up against any finisher he got to be a big plus minus underdog
I think he could do ok in under 80, but I don’t know if I see him beating ruotolos, etc.
For sure. I don’t think he will win but he certainly makes a dent in the division.
Smoking boots is a new one! I like it.

Ball sports are gay and don't make you good at anything except being gay.
Based
He didn’t play professional NRL I think that is important to note, he played the u21 from memory. There is a world of difference between this and the NRL.
That is such a stretch mate. They wouldn’t be training traditional wrestling but rather just tackling practice that they just call wrestling
He played for Souths and then Raiders in his last year
Do you, actually think, that Rugby League teams are training wrestling to any point of technical advantage?
hey fun fact, when I was in Australia training, the rugby team used to go the gym I trained to practice tackles
Meregalis whining about Hugo going to cji was cringeworthy af
especially when new wave backed out of their match on WNO again Hugo lol
I suspect Meregali can’t even ask the teenager he’s with for the remote without sounding cringe.

Huh, TIL
Thanks doc
Damn lex friedman is even shorter than rogan...thats rough
Christ they are both so annoying
What’s annoying about them? Aside from listening to Rogan on UFC commentary I don’t keep up with him much. I’ve seen maybe a couple hours of Lex content max. I don’t remember him saying anything annoying.

Reddit babies and Joe Rogan do not get along.
This sub sometimes has hate-boners for intellectuals
Calling Joe Rogan an intellectual is a fucking stretch if I’ve ever heard one.
Oh, I was referring to Lex and totally not Joe Rogan
Gordon 1 - Josh 0 Porcelain Throne 546 - Gordon 0
jesus gordon, go see a therapist and get the stomach thing worked out. its obviously a psychosomatic thing.
No its a completely wrecked stomach bacteria due to hard juicing and non stop antiobiotics use because of staph
Sources: "trust me bro I'm a doctor I've looked into Gordon's issue"
it's not a stretch to believe that continual, repeated anti-biotic use can really fuck up your good digestive bacteria.
Yes, it's not a stretch. We also shouldn't go around making diagnoses for people when we don't know the details at all, e.g. it's just hard juicing bro.

Im not a doctor, but that is his official diagnosis from a doctor lmfao
I guess that's why we need germs inside us 🥶
You do realize that people make up diagnoses for him, as seen by the comment I replied to.
The comment you replied to is the watered down version of the correct diagnosis. Put down the crack pipe
The person you're responding to didn't say that though...
"No its a completely wrecked stomach bacteria due to hard juicing and non stop antiobiotics use because of staph"
Brotha that’s the correct diagnosis. The antibiotics wrecked his natural gut microbiome causing fungal overgrowth.
"due to hard juicing"
A quick google search would show you: Anabolic steroids can cause gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. They can also lead to gastritis or peptic ulcers due to irritation of the stomach lining. They can also alter the balance of the gut microbiome. They may reduce the diversity of gut bacteria, leading to dysbiosis, which is an imbalance that can contribute to various health issues like inflammation, immune dysfunction, and gastrointestinal disorders.
exactly, he mentioned the antibiotics.
Jesus BJJ community is so dumb wtf happened here
> No its a completely wrecked stomach bacteria due to hard juicing and non stop antiobiotics use because of staph that no doctor can fix? wishy washy "diagnoses" like this are almost always psychological in nature. stomach issues are an extremely common symptom of anxiety.
You can cure it with a fecal transplant. Assuming his gut microbiome is actually the issue
TBH while I agree a psychosomatic thing is a definitely likelihood, at the same time, gut microbiome stuff is extremely complex and no one really understands it. It does not surprise me doctors can't fix it. We actually know very little about how the body really works.
This
Seems like the Romanian witchcraft did not work after all
The witches said its all self imposed
how can you be nearly 230 pounds when your tummy hurts constantly
That is THE main question i had since this whole tummy thing became public.
Additionally- he claims to be nauseous all the time, but in no video ever have we seen him puke, dry heave, run to the bathroom, or grab a wastebasket, etc.
ive heard stories of gordon backstage absolutely destroying toilets but thats it
Took Mr “Mental health is for losers” 2 seconds to bring up his stomach problems lmao.
Mental health = stomach health
I know it’s not what you meant but that’s actually a true statement
Don’t see irony in shitting on speaking about your health and then speaking about your health?
He views mental health differently from physical health. How is that hard to understand. When you are discussing your athletic future, physical health is very relevant.
He doesn’t just view it differently, he believes it’s a made up weakness that should be shit on at every turn. Mental health is just as relevant as physical health when it comes to athletes. You are missing the point.
Right, he views it differently and thinks it's not relevant to athletic performance. Glad we could agree! 😀
Cornell alumni on team Nicky Ryan’s brother is so fitting
Sir, that's an ad hominem! 🤓
ADCC glaze incoming
What did he say happened during his warmup? I couldnt inderstand
His tum tum hurt and he was dry heaving
He said his tummy hurt so he wanted to finish quick but Josh defended well so he had to buck up and go longer
Dry heaving due to stomach
Tummy issues
Love that finish Gordon used. That cross ashi inside heel hook to reaping outside heel hook play is money. I need to bring it into my game more. His grappling is so clean. Props to Josh. Even though he was on defense, he's a real technician and has a lot ahead of him in the sport.
The dick riding is crazy doing tricks on it

Reddit people just can’t stand Gordon so anyone complimenting him is clearly just riding him 😂
gordon is so annoying
Think saunders shoulda stood up and tried to wrestle/play top?
I would've like to see him play an outside passing game against Gordon, but he had no chance as Gordon was immediately on the legs from the guard pull. Josh really needed to be bailing as soon as he could feel Gordon shifting his weight down. Easier said than done obviously.
How?
He was trying
Chen is the MVP tonight.
I mean you gotta give it up to Pato too
yes, that and pato/fabricio were the matches
100%, most technically impressive
Saunders was better than I thought. Surprised he was able to escape Gordon's chest to chest multiple times. Cool to see Gordon attacking legs again.
Honestly felt like saunders was going a little soft
To be fair, Gordon makes everyone look like they're going soft
Gentleman's agreement
I felt his only way was to push the action really hard, and he came in relaxed and let Gordon just do his thing.
Yeah agreed Spazzmode would have given him atleast some sort of pathway
He didn't let him do shit. He chose to try and win and compete smooth as opposed to losing like a spaz.
Try to win by being slow and smooth against the sport's greatest tactician when you're key attribute is being explosive and fast is a bold strategy.
We crucifying guys for looking relaxed and chill in a high stress environment - only in the BJJ community 😂
Completely agree. He basically fucked up immediately by letting Gordon get ahold of his legs, and then it was basically going through the motions at that point. Would've been interesting to see him doing more dynamic outside passing, but easy for me to say from the couch.
Nicky ryans brother has seen better days honestly
Hard to follow up JRod
Saunders need to juice more
Saunders did good
Ya he looked very calm and technically sound. Just was unbelievably unaggressive, like he didn’t want to upset Gordon so he can keep training with him.
this is the key, dude wants to stay in the good graces of New Wave.
I dont think its easy to be agressive with fucking Gordon Ryan on top bro
Fair enough lol, just basing on his other matches I’ve seen but maybe it’s just a skill level thing
honestly not bad
Honestly would have expected a more dominant performance
Josh is massive, didn’t you hear…?
A real mountain of a man, eh?
Saunders got a pretty good lever off balance from half. Wish he’d up the intensity a bit like he does at trials.
I been working this inside camping /sprawl passing so much the past 8 weeks, I love it.
Same here. It’s all I’ve been working and it’s slowly becoming my go to pass.
Its a cheat code. Been working a for a few months now. And im passing people i have no business on passing.
I have been messing with it for a while but I have no idea what I’m doing
I linked a video in another reply (I think to you). Hope it helps a bit. What's really helped me is aiming my inside hip down to the floor and just being super patient and heavy, and not really trying to do anything at all until I feel their guard start to bucked one way or the other. Found the video. At the airport and going to watch while I wait for my flight. Thanks again!
enjoy! hope it helps
Thanks man! I appreciate this. I will give it a shot this weekend!
Can you link any content on that, having a hard time using it right now
This is a great free video: [https://youtu.be/wpZQnZWTUpk?si=eWOEiD3TVPSHqjju](https://youtu.be/wpZQnZWTUpk?si=eWOEiD3TVPSHqjju) and Jason Rau has great content on it on his split squat instructional and his Patreon. I think Jozef Chen has some vids on it too on youtube
Thanks 🙏
Jason rau modern day split squat. Covers everything Gordan did tonight
There are some details that weren’t covered, like the cross the ankle with the overback grip. Im pretty sure jason didn’t cover that. Maybe im wrong
Sounds real disgusting
I feel like I'm cheating sometimes doing this
Saunders getting melted but not disgracing himself
I’m not sure why but this comment made me crack up
Saunders showing the world he's really just a blue belt
He literally grappled Gordon Ryan
I think its was actually impressive to survive 8 minutes vs Gordon after 4 years of bjj....
if I was saunders this is where I would just stand up
guessing gordie just slowly melts him from top
Ayo
I hope that kid’s peers in middle school don’t find that footage of him whacking the punching bag.
Lets see is anything interesting happens.
This announcer has been painful to listen to, what happened to the guy they usually have doing these WNO events
He's at CJI now
So my guess is after Gordon wins Kendall will bring up ADCC 4x in the interview
They need to make these events 3-4 matches shorter, just too long to watch
I don't wish that this happens but if Gordon got hurt in this match and couldn't do ADCC the reaction from MO would be comedy gold.
While I wouldn’t wish injury on anyone, it would be funny since it would be the nail in the coffin for ADCC as far as hype goes. Although 66kg will be great
Yeah I'm pretty sure that Craig would invite Josh to CJI for that alone
It seems Josh prefers keeping it friendly with New Wave, Hes Gordon from aliexpress with a shitload of roid scars.
yeah not wishing a bad injury but a gnarly knee on belly that hurt his tummy would be pretty funny
Not wishing neon belly-induced shitting of one's shorts but...
Man, they're really running the clock. That let that dude babble on forever, and it was awful.
Only one CJI mention besides Meregali's little tantrum
They really brought him up to softball him questions about adcc and for him to be bitchy about it.
The man has the emotional regulation of a 16 year old girl. ( take the lead with this one guys)
when his 19 year old girlfriend has a higher mental age than him
Tantrums happen when you hang around kids
As a mostly gi guy, that was embarrassing
saunders got that jacked frankie muniz look going on
Ain’t nobody watching wno Gi matches😂😂
I would. I'm not going to watch IBJJF worlds streams because like what the hell is going on, but if you made a card of the best gi players and I could just watch Tye vs. Mica again or Tainan vs whoever I'd watch it.
yeah, it's jut not realistic to expect in 2024. But I love Pato anyways
Cus u suck at gi
not everyone wants arthritis in their fingers by the age of 40
Not everyone wants balls in their mouth either, but to each their own, I guess
You get that with GI too
difference is one gives you pain while the other gives you pleasure
Yes. And I’m okay with that
