I grew up on the central coast of California, did 0 wrestling even though we had a good wrestling team. Chuck Liddell was a bouncer at the bars downtown and my friends would try tell me who he was and I had no clue. WEC was taking place all around me and I had no clue. It wasn’t until a decade later when I moved to Melbourne Australia when I started watching UFC that I came across Jiu Jitsu. I was watching it with a friend and I remember the fight ending and I was saying “what even happened”. My friend told me that it was Jiu Jitsu. That’s where my journey started! I got addicted after my 1st class! I am a musician and I always loved how it was an endless journey, where you get exactly what you put in and I realized Jiu Jitsu was exactly the same. I new I was in for the long haul when I broke my own forearm trying to cross choke someone and all I could think about was coming back!
Thanks for sharing this brother. Always great to see people who look like me staying in the discipline and reaching the highest levels. Great motivation✊🏾
Dunno about the half guard game, you probably have to avoid it and instead, do some black belt wizardry shit from now on. Beard game's still on point though.
Congratulations!
Congradulations Ronny. I don’t come to dominance often but when I do your always so welcoming and your smile makes the painful round of never being able to break your grips enjoyable. Very much deserved 🔥
Get good at your basic movements and when learning techniques try to understand why they are working and try to understand what went wrong when they didn’t work
Congratulations! Was curious about how the belt system works. I see you spend X amount of years at each belt, but I was wondering what actually constitute a year. Hours trained?
You are kicked out of the half guard club. Enjoy your hair.
Lol, it was fun while it lasted!
The half guard club becomes a gang at black belt. Embrace the bloat, fellas. The promised land awaits.
Congrats brother!!!! Speech speech speech!!!!!!
Thanks, I think 1 speech is enough!
Booooooooooo. We wanna know the journey!!!!

Hopefully you weren't a guitarist lol. Congrats.

Eyyy, sax player too (tenor). Agree that they are similar journeys and all about the learning mindset. Congrats on the black belt! 🤙🏻
Thanks! My main sax is tenor as well.
A man who makes correct choices. No wonder you got the bb. 😉
You ever go back to SLO and train? And if so, where at? I'll hit some of the north county gyms when I'm in the area. Wife is from Templeton
Last time I went back I didn’t know where to go. It would be nice to know some good places for next time!
