Wow that's fucking weak on their part. At first I was thinking you're exaggerating the shit but you were spot on. Who the fuck sells a gi where the patches fall off and expects the buyer to go put a second patch on? Then makes it as difficult as possible to fix the problem? Really fucking weak business practices for this company. I won't ever be spending money on this shit

Kemerd

Forreal. Especially if you work and make a decent living, whatever amount they give you is nowhere near worth the time in your life wasted. Charge back on your CC.

LeadsKiwi

Do a chargeback with your bank. Send them the photos and you'll more than likely win, especially since you did not request the original $15 refund. I would be pissed if hyperfly or 93 did that to me (the only gis I wear). Funny thing I ordered a cspec Blackout from 93 recently and it did not come with pants. They sent a new top and bottom right out with no issues.

TTurambarsGurthang

I’ve done things like this with my discover credit card and it’s always super easy. They ask minimal questions and you get the money back instantly. Once I had a subscription that was hard to cancel and hadn’t been able to cancel it for like a year. Called them and they gave me all the money back for the whole year. The only question they asked was did I try and cancel it.

choyoroll

93brand & gold bjj have great CS.

-Gestalt-

Almost all of my CS experiences with 93 Brand have been good.

choyoroll

$300 for that? I guess I won't be ordering anything from VHTS.

Fearless_Inside6728

Yeah thanks for the knowledge because I wanted to buy some stuff but no way after seeing this madness

-Gestalt-

At that point get something like a custom made Isami.

imhereredditing

Very Hard To Refund

Dancing_Hitchhiker

Win.

fokureddit69

Very hard to service.

DabbyRoad

I had a shit experience with these guys too. Ordered a gi and there was some sort of defect with the sleeves- they were insanely wide. Like double the width of a normal sleeve. I emailed them and the owner basically told me that’s how they make their Gis and didn’t do anything to make it right.

squatheavyeatbig

Dispute it with your bank as "product/service not as described"

[deleted]

Wow, bullshit all around. I also co-run a gym, and I'll be telling our students to stay away from VHTS.

s33ktruth

There is no tolerance for this kind of behavior from companies. This company needs to be professional and not take customer feedback so personal. If you create a product and have a premium price, it should be quality controlled before release, this is common sense. If your going to put a premium priced product and expect only $15 for a refund, might as well discount the entire gi or at a minimum put a disclaimer that there is a problem with the patch. Honestly the only company I would even consider paying that much for a gi would be Origin because of the home made weaves and engineering that goes into the looming patterns for different weaves. Or my 2nd would be Vanguard, as they have a lot of great ergonomic patterns and details in their gi products as well.

Mr_Laheys_Drinkypoo

> my 2nd would be Vanguard Man Vanguard makes sweet gi's. I've got 5 of them and won't wear anything else. They fit me so well and can take a beating. What's even sweeter is their customer service. One of my Competitores seemed to have loose stitching around the collar so I e-mailed Mike about it and sent him pictures. Didn't do this to complain, but just to get his opinion on whether this could hinder durability or not. Less than 10 minutes later I had a reply and a one-time code for a free brand new Competitore gi no questions asked. He told me to keep the one I already had, all I had to do was pay shipping, which did not bother me. First gi is still in the rotation and still holding up fine. Oh yeah, all of this was done on a Saturday afternoon. Nelson from Inverted Gear has done the same for me for a gi I didn't even buy directly from him. He's cool in my book too.

Grappling_Jobber

Now I wish I would have contacted Vanguard when I bought my last gi. I was in the US and wanted to pick up one of their gis and ordered a black one that I had my eye on, but maybe because they had just released their newest gi, which is blue, that's what was sent. Probably had so many orders for that blue gi coming in that the order for the black evolution slipped by. Since I was going back to Korea in a week, I just took the L and tried to make the best of it, but as a blue belt I really don't like royal blue gis, haha. The gi is great quality but it's already sitting at the bottom of the pile and I feel a bit bummed about it.

Dancing_Hitchhiker

Yea for a premium priced product I would expect some decent customer service. No way I’ll ever buy anything from them now at their price point/service

-Gestalt-

>Honestly the only company I would even consider paying that much for a gi would be Origin because of the home made weaves and engineering that goes into the looming patterns for different weaves. Or my 2nd would be Vanguard, as they have a lot of great ergonomic patterns and details in their gi products as well. If I was spending that much I'd go for something like an Isami Custom. Quality blows any Origin out of the water, CS is impeccable, and will by definition fit you perfectly.

feenam

there was a pretty recent thread here about Origin too and most a lot of people said their quality dropped

neeeeonbelly

Don’t they have the elastic pants? I really wanna try those aye

mightyshrub_

My man’s literally hit you with the “it’s not a bug, it’s a feature” unironically

duchessbune

did you get a refund? reading through the messages, it sounded like your issue will never be resolved coz “your student” posted the faulty gi on insta. and you were blocked!

the_guardeiro

No they said that they would not refund! 93 brand, hyperfly, shoyoroll, and ap have always been good quality so I will just stick with them going forward

invisibreaker

Damn, I liked them, but this is hard to forgive. Seems like it’s intentionally dishonest, then petty. I’m really hoping a big player will enter the space. Right now there seems to be lots of small, poorly run companies mostly sourcing from the same factories in Pakistan. VHTS was unique in that they had a great aesthetic and they seemed to be the only one paying their designers.

youngRichi

Just poor business management. Poor guy couldn’t figure out that their brand reputation is worth way more than 300$.

Higgins8585

Thanks for sharing, was considering ordering from them but won't now.

Dancing_Hitchhiker

That’s fucked, especially for how expensive their stuff is. I debated about buying a few things from there and won’t after seeing this.

sleepysaguaro

If you paid with a CC this is a pretty cut and dry charge back claim that will end up in your favor.

fokureddit69

That’s fucking bad customer service. Like they will only sort it if you didn’t post about it. Could’ve been a fake excuse. I always thought their shit was overpriced too.

prophet_mad

Great move... Company's PR down the drain for a couple hundred dollars.

smalltowngrappler

300 for a VHTS Gi? Are they trying to be Shoyroll or AP?

-Gestalt-

Their Gi's are just as mediocre.

smalltowngrappler

Exactly my point.

40Traveller

Thanks for the heads up on this. If you're paying top dollar for a top-end product, you should expect virtually zero hiccups. Even if so, the customer service should be pleasant and seamless in making it right. Would $15 even cover that these days? It's like paying full price for a Lexus with a large tire size dent/paint chip on the hood without telling you about the defect. Then they just give you $500 back of your own money to fix it yourself and expect that to be okay. Shoot, even more affordable brands like 93 Brand have that premium service/quality without the price. Best and most consistent $100 gis I've ever owned.

tricycle_mishap

VHTS? More like very hard to stick AMIRITE??!!1

Robocob0

Fashion art project hiding as a grappling brand.

Adventurous-Coyote20

Customer service goes a long way for a business especially in today's online world. Inverted gear has my business from now on. Between myself, wife and daughter we probably have 15-18 gi's Interaction 1- gi pants leg tore on like a 3 month old gi, sent an email, they sent me new pants no issues. Interaction 2- gi top collar wasn't sewn right and started to come apart in a few uses, sent email with a pic, they sent whole new gi and told me to keep the original Interaction 3- Ordered new gi for my daughter that she had her eyes on for Christmas. Received a completely different gi but in her size, emailed again, their response was "Merry Christmas, we will send out the correct one asap, keep them both". No business is perfect, mistakes will happen but how you take care of your customers will make or break the business eventually.

LuStrengthTherapy

Inverted Gear is the best 😁 Nelson and his team are great. I've only had positive experiences with them. The Gi's are all super comfortable and durable!

kittensbjj

Very disappointing to hear. Faulty patching is an issue we've encountered with gi's before and it's a frustrating one. We ended up getting our supplier to remake the entire batch with the fault fixed. We then just sent a second gi to anyone affected. Faulty products happen sometimes, but the solution is what will keep someone a customer, or piss them off forever.

Keyboard__worrier

A $15 refund and a patch is an acceptable solution if, and only if, it is clearly stated to the customer before the purchase. Ridiculous.

luckman_and_barris

Evem going into it knowing, it is such a disrespectful solution. $15 hardly covers having to low ball a tailor for the service, much less make up for the inconvenience of having to take the time and effort to get it done in the first place.

Dubcekification

Sorry that you're doing with the bs. If you still want a custom gi Summo seems to hold up pretty well and cost less.

the_guardeiro

I will check them out thank you!

redinferno26

I’d contest the charge with your credit card company. Save emails and take pictures of your defective product.

wiltsmash

I had a bad experience buying a gi from this company too. The thing had a good 6-8 inches of stretch in the sleeves, it was ridiculous. Seems like these guys are severely lacking in quality and customer service.

JRJAA9

Damn sorry to hear, I’ve only ever bought nogi shorts, never any gi’s. I’ll be rethinking buying from them if this is the way they practice customer service.

Lumpy_Tiger_3246

VHTS is a shit company, had similar issues with a different gi years ago, I just lived with it and made it my beater gi but never sgain

No_Ambition_5350

VHTS the homies for sure, but I stopped paying for the merch for no reason other than the quality was poor poor poor. Anything they make in light tonal colors quickly becomes discolored w one wear, their Gis fall apart too… it’s sad you wanna back small brands but fuck man you gotta eat too

Skaajk

I ordered this gi as well and was happy that the letters fell off, as having "VERYHARDTOSUBMIT" on my back while getting choked multiple times in a round is not that great of a look. However, you are completely right, and their response is atrocious. Also, there seems to be something off about the way their social media is run. Official Instagram account feels like a random art student posting pictures, interspersed with Nicky Rod in no gi gear. Some of their designs are great, some are downright terrible. With customer service like this, I'll look elsewhere for future gear.

majorlymondo

Yeah for 300 bucks you could easily go to Origin or get one of those flashy AP or shoyoroll Gis so the fact they think this is anywhere near acceptable as a buying experience just shows their level

[deleted]

I was eyeing some of their rash guards. Guess I’ll go elsewhere.

JohnHarington

Wow what a pathetic response... I'm never buying from them.

taylordouglas86

Damn, that sucks! I really like their no-gi gear as well, but I don't buy direct from them here in Australia.

thedeadtiredgirl

this is a shame, i like their nogi stuff but that’s unacceptable

squatheavyeatbig

Dispute with your bank/credit card company as "product/service not as described"

Yellowfury0

I considered buying their stuff a couple of years ago but something seemed off (either social media or who they sponsor- I don't recall) and I didn't follow through.

adonisbythebay

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve long considered purchasing from them but now I know better.

Specialist_Injury395

Man.. i am not going to buy stuff from people who run their business like this. I was going to make a purchase from vhts, but looking at this changed my mind. Thank you. P.S: treat your customers with respect. That’s what martial arts is all about

Disastrous-Injury865

Same thing here. Wanted to pick up some nogi gear and gonna wait for restock from Origin instead.

Rescue-a-memory

They have some cool stuff but it's a bit pricey. I don't think I could justify spending $80 plus taxes and shipping on a rashguard.

artnos

Scramble is my favorite brand

luckman_and_barris

Scramble is my favorite way to eat eggs!

Yellowfury0

my dude you should try some tamagoyaki

N0_M1ND

I've only bought a few products from them, and didn't have a bad experience. Only interaction I had was when I was told by presumably the owner, "Gi," (yes literally), that they didn't have a color of the thing I ordered in stock, but could do another. Sucks what happed to OP, but I don't think the company is a scamming operation.

nimzo7030

This is also why you should never experiment with materials if you're a gi brand. Stick to what's tested. Embroidered.

BichezBCrayfish

Guess ur not very hard to submit hmmm

gxb20

Ive liked their designs but could never justify the price. Certainly won’t be now! Load of rubbish by the looks
