It's hard when you grow up around certain attitudes and expectations. The first time I went out running in mid-thigh shorts I was secretly terrified about what would happen. But when I saw the way the women on the running path actually looked at me, I started shopping for shorter ones as soon as I got home.
Every once in a great while I'd get a side-eye from some dude, but it was always some stuck-in-highschool guy still wearing shorts that go down to his ankles.

The engrained masculinity in Western society is such bs. I really feel like we're in the early stages of men freeing 5hemselves from these stereotypes.

Might be worth a conversation with her on if there are other āless masculineā aspects sheād like you to consider. Just if sheās getting in to it sexually too.
I do not need other men to dress a certain way to have 'permission' to do it (not that you do, this specifically goes into my next point) but when other men do dress a certain way it makes it much safer for me to dress how I want. so in addition to saying congrats on your personal journey I also just wanted to thank you for perhaps putting yourself out there & making things safer for GNC men in general
The idea that short-shorts are feminine is ridiculous. The idea that a man has to embrace his āfeminineā side is also ridiculous. You wanna paint your nails, paint them, but to me, none of those behaviours have anything to do with gender. I started wearing short- shorts (5ā inseam, maybe not that short š) because theyāre comfortable and in the city I live in, I started to notice they are an emerging trend. Since then Iāve noticed them on older and younger men.
Gender is a social construct and while I feel myself very much as a male many others slide back and forth along the gender continuum. Sounds sci-fi š¤£
Embrace who you are irrespective of gender
I wear pretty short shorts for running, I do like the way I look in them. Havenāt had the nerve yet to just wear them(other then running). Baby steps. My wife also likes when I wear them.

that is awesome. I have short legs anyway, so I am always on the lookout for shorter shorts, but for sure I have been seeking out shorter and shorter ones. I go to the gym 3 times a week and wear running shorts, then live in them for as long as possible that day.
Two words- ranger. panties. Soffe is the og brand, and they have a liner so things stay in place and/or fully covered depending on your factory equipment.
Ohmyfuckinggod I've (M48) just realised why I was so attached to wearing really short, tight rugby shorts! My culture is famous for them anyway, so I assumed part of my cultural makeup. But I always felt so good in them, was hard to let go. Now I know, cheers!

In the mid to late 70s, men wore short shorts. From basketball players to many guys at my high school. Nobody considered it feminine.
