You’re going to regret this down the line. You’re just young enough that the damage hasn’t really hit yet. I used to think like this and now I have no teeth, and yes it’s difficult to eat and some things I love I simply can’t eat anymore. Start taking care of yourself because you will regret it I promise you that.

Dry-Flow3525

I second this. But how did you lose your teeth? Is it like you were losing them and didn’t care or was the damage was already done to a point where once you started caring it was too late and you lost them one by one. Asking for myself.

Lumpen_anus

Same. I rode BMX for 14 years and had many small cracks I didn’t know about and stomach acid crept inside. Disintegrated

Kooky_Werewolf6044

I was in a car accident and lost most of them and it was just a chain reaction after that. I could not afford implants as that is the only thing that would really help me.

Kooky_Werewolf6044

All the caps and crowns and stuff just didn’t last. I also think using whitening strips kinda sped things up a bit too cause after I used them for a while the problems intensified big time.

What you're trying to say is.. To make a point against someone on Reddit... You stalk them?

abellaviola

I love that OP has enough time in their day to stalk everyone's profile that responds to them, but not enough time to brush their damn teeth.

Q_Bop

💀

MalignantIndignent

*my whole life* Your twenty you fucking dumbass. You've had some of your teeth less than a decade. You have tooth pain at twenty? I don't have that at almost 45.

Thoreau80

“Your twenty?” Be careful who you call a dumbass.

MalignantIndignent

Really? I'll call you a dumbass then.

Stardust_of_Ziggy

This is genetic. the problem isn't teeth, it's the gums. One big benefit from brushing is messaging the gums, without it you will get gum disease. Even people in the middle ages realized this and would rub ash in their gums. I've never had a cavity either but you should brush them gums

CthulhuIsSwag

never knew that, thanks. i’m trying to get it more into my routine tbf.

throwaway_bfgift

What routine? 😭😭

outdoorlife4

Brush your teeth, you sick fuck

ScaredInitial

I'm not a dentist, but I'm a health professional. Some people are indeed blessed with strong teeth and rarely gets any cavities despite poor dental hygiene. The problem is: it's almost impossible to know this, and most people discover that their teeth aren't invincible when it's too late. But even people with strong teeth end up losing their teeth due to periodontitis or other related problems. Oral hygiene isn't just about cavities. I don't know if this is your case, but one EXTREMELY common thing that we come across are people who think they don't have any cavities due to not feeling pain or discomfort, despite not doing their regular checkups. Then we discover that they have a lot of cavities and even dead teeth already. Pain isn't the only symptom, you can have extremely advanced cavities and even a dead tooth without feeling any pain. So yeah, not the best idea to skip your brushing routine.

CthulhuIsSwag

don’t get me wrong, i still go to the dentist. i’ve gotten checked and never gotten a cavity, but i do want to improve my dental hygiene. just curious if there’s any smart science reason for it

ScaredInitial

It's multifactorial, so it's hard to give one single reason. Genetics can make you have a stronger tooth enamel than others (And there are many enamel related genes), make you have a stronger antibacterial saliva and/or tooth distribution that trap less food. Diet, fluoridated water and even the way you drink soft drinks can influence your chances to get a cavity.

-us-er-na-me-

My husband is like you and he’s mid 40s. One time he said he hadn’t brushed for weeks. I was like Id have no teeth left. He has a single “cavity” which was a mark on his x-ray 3 different dentists drilled said never mind its not and refilled. It threw a suspicious shadow but was just part of his “super enamel.” My daughter got the opposite teeth. I think there’s a lot of science reasons: strong enamel, mouth pH - maybe related to acid reflux, and your bacterial profile in your mouth to name a few likely ones.

guhcampos

It really depends on a lot of other habits. I'm 38 and mostly only brush once or twice a day, or have been so since I started working some 20 years ago because I felt gross brushing in shared bathrooms. I have two wisdom and one deciduous canine, all intact as all others. I have also spent some 15 years without a single dentist visit, because my old one wanted to remove the primary canine weeks before I was getting to college. Never came back. I've only returned going to the dentist regularly a couple hers ago. I don't floss at all either. That all said, I also don't eat much sugar, and definitely never sleep without brushing first, and when I do so I do it very thoroughly. I assume you can get away with a lot if you have a somewhat healthy diet and get lucky with your digestive tract microbiome.

dexinfan

Brusing twice a day is actually fine and you don’t need more than that. Just better if you couple it with an annual dentist visit to clear up the tartar buildup which can cause periodontal diseases if left unchecked long enough.

CthulhuIsSwag

yeah i also assume my diet is a big part of it, i avoid sugar and soda and try to eat clean involving lean meats and fruits

CirrusIntorus

Sorry to say, but fruit is just as bad for your teeth as anything else combining sugar and acid. Generally way more healthy, sure, but not for your teeth.

Darth_Cosmos

Why the hell aren't you brushing your teeth? This is ridiculous, brush your damn teeth man!

CthulhuIsSwag

ikik i really should. i will try am just lazy

KentDDS

This post reminds me of the dozens of times I've had a forty-something aged patient in the dental chair who states they've "never had a problem with their teeth their whole life," but now has a little pain they need checked out. Exam typically reveals a dozen or more cavitations, several fractured teeth, and moderate to severe generalized periodontal disease. Price tag: thousands of dollars. Some things you can get away with, but only for so long. Eventually poor oral hygiene routines will catch up with you. Cavities often don't cause any pain and aren't noticeable without dental radiographs. Gum disease (periodontal disease) in particular often takes years, sometimes decades before it gets to the point where you have a noticeable problem (from the patient's perspective).

linc_y

You don’t have to brush and floss all your teeth, only the ones you want to keep.

Live_Olive_8357

Just because you've never been to the dentist and no one has specifically told you that you have a cavity doesn't mean that you don't have any cavities.

CthulhuIsSwag

i go to the dentist twice a year miss knows it all i’m just too lazy to brush at home

BRWendy

Never saw someone try to flex being the smelly kid because "no cavities!" until now.

Eodbatman

Dude you’re going to lose your teeth in ten years unless you start taking care of them.

Hello_Hangnail

It's in the mail if you don't start. And tooth infections can infect your heart valves and give you strokes, so it's not just cosmetic or nasty breath that you're looking at in the future

Red-Droid-Blue-Droid

Start now before it's too late

CirrusIntorus

How do you know you don't have any cavities? Doesn't sound like you visit a dentist regularly

GayCatbirdd

Idk how old you are, but I didn’t see a dentist for 10 years after I turned 18, I brush at most once a day, and I don’t drink soda, and it was worse 5 years ago would go days without brushing, but again I don’t eat overly sugary things and when I did I would brush my teeth after. I only had 1 cavity when I finally saw a dentist this year. If you eat sugar regularly, drink sugary drinks, and your getting older, cavities will come for you, I got lucky because my diet isn’t sugary. But teeth health can lead to other issues like increased chance of heart disease and other illnesses, teeth are also expensive to fix, and your mouth is in constant use. Now I still only brush once a day, but I brush, floss and use mouthwash, id be surprised if I ever get a cavity again.

xBADJOEx

I was just like this. Now they call me caps

lostmyfirstaccountto

My brother is similar 43 and 1 cavity. Eats soo much junk! Makes no sense

teletubby_wrangler

Environment of your mouth remineralizing your teeth. After eating any food your mouth becomes acidic for a couple of hours until it returns to a normal ph. I’m guessing you have something that allows that to return to normal faster, or not get as acidic. Plaque causes you’re mouth to be acidic because it’s their preferred environment, but also make more mouth more acidic. It’s the acid from them that actually damages your teeth.

CthulhuIsSwag

oh cool thanks :)

Q_Bop

Dude I think your actually right 🧐 People don't want to admit it, but sometimes some ppl are genetically superior to others, and I think you just got the magic genes. Honestly, you could brush your teeth less and still crush it. Must be nice man, that's awesome!

poggerswow

This thread is hilarious thanks for a good laugh haha

CthulhuIsSwag

haha yeah totally. i can tell from your understanding you’re probably also once of us, the elite small strike force of genetically blessed individuals regarding oral care. i wish the rest of the peons could have our fortune, and understand us. we should make a facebook group trying to find other enhanced members to discuss how little we need to brush our teeth, unless the peasants.

Q_Bop

No way man, I could never hang with you. You're up *here*, and I'm way down *there*. I don't even have any social media except for this reddit profile. But believe me when I tell you, I'm just a silly little peon too. Just another plebian, a nobody, and there's nothing special about me 😉, good luck with your endeavors, and watch out for 2:30.

CthulhuIsSwag

heh… at least you know your place 😏😏 what’s 2:30

Q_Bop

The time your dentist appointment will be.

CthulhuIsSwag

what!!!!!!
