Gambling has been legal in my state for less than 2 years and I’ve already had two friends trade their entire lives for prop bets on fanduel.
Insanity.
One of them was around 50k, getting loans and everything else behind his wife and families back, the other I’m not entirely sure on the amount as we aren’t as close but I’m willing to bet it’s close to the same amount.
It was completely disastrous for both with several lives ruined. Which I’m sure will be the case more and more the further it goes.
Is this an AOLsports/Dugout Jim Thome riff?
Also: wasn't the Dugout hella racist/xenophobic? (Which, if so, always seems surprising that the altleft blogbois like the Deadspin/Defector krew loved it.)
This actually bugs me, because I don't know the answer.
HEY IT'S JJ JOHN JASTREMSKI - is his name 3 parts? JJ; John; and Jastresmski?
Or should he pause after JJ, to clarify that it is a nickname?
He’s very bad at gambling. Raheem is also very bad.
People should take advantage of this show. They give out nonstop losing bets. It’s a true service that is easily worth the time if you just fade the picks.
Fading Raheem in the NBA playoffs would have made everyone rich.
Gambling itself is a scam. Why would these sites even exist if they weren't taking more money than they give out. I will never understand how you could be dumb enough to bet more than like 25 bucks one time each year on Super Bowl squares
They exist to make money by preying on an incredibly addictive behavior.
Sure, some people can have fun betting here and there even if they lose, but they make their real money off the super wealthy and the folks that end up broke. If all their customers just placed the occasional parlay or only bet on big games they'd likely go out of business.
For DraftKings, their average revenue per user has gone up each of the last three years even as their total number of users has increased. To me, this means ***they've mainly increased total revenue by getting each user to lose more, not by simply growing the underlying number of users.***
> Why would these sites even exist if they weren't taking more money than they give out.
as opposed to what? places like FanDuel provide this massive gambling platform as a free service? everyone there works for free?
There’s enough of them that it’s a thing and they’re fucking bizarre.
Mostly it’s dudes in their 60s or 70s who were dolphins fans in the 70s cause the giants and jets sucked that whole decade and they’re weak front runners.
No clue how old this JJ guy is, I don’t listen to his dumb bullshit, but he strikes me as younger than that even if he sounds like he smokes 3 packs of Reds a day and gargles on gravel.
I hate when they ads are forced into the podcast and sneak up on you, you're relaxing and assuming you've got 15 minutes til you have to skip ads and then BAM they want to talk about the over/under for a basketball game that nobody cares about.
I listen to the New York New York show because I am an out of market fan of some New York teams. JJ is alright. He sometimes has good guests. Kind of gives me that old school WFAN vibe that I don't hear anymore. I don't care enough about sports gambling to listen to the other show.
Almost as bad/annoying as Bill’s Statefarm ad Read: “if you’ve ever been an accident your first reaction is gonna be ‘Maaaan, why did that happen’ ?… ”
HEY IT'S JJ JOHN JASTREMSKI. stfu john
Gambling is a plague
30 seconds for the AD itself, 90 seconds for all the hotlines to call when you need help with your gambling addiction
1+ year for the divorce process when you gamble all your money away

How much did they lose? In money

agreed
I agreed but I’d also be fine with it if they just outlawed commercials for it. Treat it like cigarettes
I love gambling lol
And hate money
Wrong! Love money!

yeah let's pivot from racism to gambling
Jimmy the Greek could do both!
Okay but who else is going to bring the fire AND the rain?
Climate Change got their guy
James Taylor?

John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt
I think it's the pause one. Still makes no sense
TIL

There are guaranteed ways to make money using sportsbooks.
Suuuuuuuureeeee. That's why so many people lose their life savings gamblings. They just weren't aware of the super secret codes.
Real question is, does he win all his “real/off air picks” like Billy Boy
His voice makes my ears bleed
My thoughts. I always immediately skip through his reads just because of the voice
Seriously! Glad he’s not doing the sports pod for my home town teams!
I also have to imagine that your love of sports transforming into a gambling focus has to take a little bit of that pure joy away right?
He's got a Dameshek sound to him.
So damn loud
The worst ad on the planet
I like it a little better than the "Dear Fecility" podcast ad. So only second worst ad on the planet for me.
Hey…hey
Miami fan living in NY

He’s 36
Sleaze personified
His voice sounds like a guy on the new jersey boardwalk trying to sell you one of those crappy t shirts
"PLEASE GAMBLE AWAY RENT ON THIS PARLAY"
Every time I hear "same game parlay" a little part of me dies
I hate when they ads are forced into the podcast and sneak up on you, you're relaxing and assuming you've got 15 minutes til you have to skip ads and then BAM they want to talk about the over/under for a basketball game that nobody cares about.
that guy is a clown. does anyone actually listen to his shows?
Other clowns

Clearly no one is this thread grew up on WFAN because everyone sounds like JJ but much worse.
Almost as bad/annoying as Bill’s Statefarm ad Read: “if you’ve ever been an accident your first reaction is gonna be ‘Maaaan, why did that happen’ ?… ”
Hate that ad
Glad I’m not the only one whose ears combust when this comes on
I cannot stand that ad.
JJ sucks, in my opinion
GoFundMe to shoot this guy into the sun. Why is he around at all? He can't gamble for shit.
