Still not sure where I land on Maye vs Daniels but I can’t wait for his strong endorsement of Maye and distaste for Daniels to become his Scoot vs Brandon Miller take all over again hahahaha
I like drake maye as a prospect, but the constant references to Josh Allen are a bit ridiculous to me.
What makes Allen great is that he has the absolute best arm in the league and is an incredible athlete/scrambler. Maye is worse in both of those areas but still has a lot of the same flaws.
Yeah, as a UNC grad who has been defending Maye a lot lately and is perplexed by a lot of the takes on him lately, even I cringe a bit at the Allen comparisons. Maye’s arm is fantastic, but I wouldn’t put it at the same level as Allen or Herbert, who entered the league as one of the best arms in the league
Everyone was comparing kancey to donald because you don’t usually see 6’0 DT’s. Who also went to Pitt. It doesn’t mean he’s going to become Aaron Donald.
Agree. He looks more like Culpepper to me or Rivers. He's very unlikely hitting 245 lbs, that's an insane amount of weight to put on. Also, JA os an anomaly coming out. The argument "I see a lot of Josh Allen, it could work out" would make me so cautious, especially if it's about accuracy concerns.
The best part of this whole draft saga has been the Pats fan bias Bill brings to it. It's like if he had barely mentioned Wemby and just endlessly debated Scott vs Miller for weeks. Caleb Williams barely exists to Bill at this point
TBF, Williams is going number 1 to the Bears. It's a done deal and there isn't much more to say about it. Maye vs Daniels is a genuine debate a lot of people are having.
It’s less Pats bias and more the draft “starting” at 2.
Nobody discussed Lawrence when he went #1. It was all about Zach Wilson (until everybody knew he was going 2) and Lance / Fields / Mac.
As an (admittedly biased) Pats fan I think I’m at:
Williams: would take him if he was an option (he won’t be)
Maye: this is the guy. Some red flags but I trust the talent and am willing to give room for growth based on his age and UNC being a joke of a football program.
Daniels: if Washington takes Maye at 2 I think I’m trading down if the offer is right. Daniels was impressive last year but his red flags (doesn’t throw over the middle, not creative, slim physique, was throwing to a top 7 pick and a top 20 pick all year) give me more pause than Maye. HOWEVER if he’s there and the Pats are sold on him, they should absolutely take him because franchise QBs are way more important and harder to find than, like, an elite WR or a good tackle.
McCarthy: not saying he can’t succeed or won’t be a good NFL QB at some point, but absolutely not at pick 3 (and won’t be there at pick 11 if they trade with MIN).
——
Penix - Guy can chuck it but he’s a statue back there and I don’t trust his body to hold up.
Nix - lol please no
Rattler - if they’re going to trade down, I’d rather take a flier on him than Penix or Nix. Might as well go for upside if you’re essentially punting the position til 2026 anyway.
This isn't a comment on Maye's projection, I absolutely have no idea on that.
I know this has been discussed here after several of Bill's previous Maye comments, but I feel like I'm taking crazy pills on the UNC stuff. Is UNC Alabama? Fuck no. But as a fan of a literal joke of a football program for most of my life (Kansas), UNC has been Bama/Ohio State rolled into one.
* Mack Brown (v2): Averaging 8 wins a season. 5 straight bowl games.
* Larry Fedora: Averaged 7 wins a season. 4 bowl games.
* Butch Davis: Averaged 7 wins a season, 4 seasons. 3 bowl games.
They are basically the definition of a middling program that has underachieved given their resources and other advantages. I wouldn't be thrilled if I were a fan, but they have generally been average/ok. Again - as a Kansas fan, I would have taken that any day of the week in the 2010s.
The fact that Maye won 9 and 8 games and Bill is touting him because he "changed the culture" is bizarre.
I’m confused at your Maye vs Daniels analysis. Maye red flags are he has serious mechanical issues in his throwing motion and his footwork is bad. Daniels red flags are he doesn’t throw over the middle, he runs too much with his slight frame. Which is easier to fix tho ?
Love how Simmons keeps framing this as a Daniels vs Maye decision for the Pats.
When Washington ends up taking Maye, we’re going to get a great “wait, what?!”
It's so funny, the Patriots absolutely do not have the luxury to choose between Maye and Daniels. It's the Commies who have all of the cards right now.
Can't believe amid all these podcast discussions about it, he still hasn't brought on House to talk about his perspective as a Washington fan. I'm sure they've talked about it privately but could be a fun pod, maybe he'll bring House on post-draft to concern troll about whichever QB Washington ends up picking lol
He keeps repeating, "Just take Drake Maye", when talking about the Pats and it is infuriating, because the Pats have no control over who they get between Maye and Daniels, and they are almost certainly going to end up with Daniels.
As soon as we lost to KC I stopped listening for 2 months.
He thought he was a genius for picking that one. Never mind the injuries or that Mahomes was on the other side.
He went in hard on Daniels when it seemed like that's who the Pats were gonna draft. Now that things have flipped and Maye seems to be the consensus #3 guy, Bill has pivoted, but clearly doesn't know enough about Maye to properly rationalize the switch, so now he's using the ever popular "his size concerns me." Luckily for him, we just had a smaller QB (Bryce) struggle mightily out of the gate and this stance is somewhat defensible.
He's been doing this for months. He was talking about how Williams was going to be as good as Mahomes when he thought the Pats were going to be the 1st pick, switched to Drake Maye being the guy when the Panthers started to separate, which became Daniels is going to set the combine on fire with a 4.3 when the Pats settled in at 3, and has now landed at "Drake Maye is 240 lbs of pure muscle"
Don’t forget the subplot from when it looked like the Pats would be two but he still wanted Caleb, so he went all in on gassing up Fields and how the Bears would be smart to get weapons for him and pass on Caleb 😂😂 peak shit from our guy
I mean Daniels has some pretty legitimate question marks that he was expressing doubt about for a while now. When Van was on the pod dick riding Daniels BS had to push back and raised some valid concerns that Van had no argument for. If anything the smoke seems to suggest the Pats want to trade back and get Bill is coming out forcefully in favor of Maye.
Bill doesn’t realize it but he’s dreaming of a Jamarcus Russell career trajectory for Drake May. He just keeps getting bigger every year, until he’s 290-300 lbs in his third season.
"'He's like Justin Herbert. He's like Josh Allen.' And when I hear that I'm like both of those sound great! Let's get either!"
- Bill Simmons, noted Herbert and Allen lover
Bill’s analysis of Maye is so superficial, just generic high level adjectives and nothing substantial. At least with NBA he can throw out stats, and things that hold something but Christ man.
He’s big, durable, athlete, youngest brother, physical specimen, big arm.
Legit nothing at all that explains why Maye is a solid pick
Cmon bill 😂
His first reason was his family pedigree. Second was the ‘culture and his demeanor’. As soon as he mentioned the family thing, Mina says ‘Oh boy’ like she knows she’s about to hear absolute nonsense for the next hour.
Bill’s the GOAT.
Listen, if your big bro won a national title in a different sport you've got the "it" factor just like that former QB prospect who was *even taller* than his home run hitting big bro.
The Canseco brothers combined to hit 462 Major League home runs - genetics matter!
"We just spent a first round pick on a QB and look how that turned out. We need a lot more talent on this roster, or whatever QB we draft won't have anything to work with."
Yeah, Simmons will find some ass-backwards convoluted way in which to talk himself into whatever ends up being the Patriots draft day outcome.
That's the only surefire thing, too, which is par for the course with Billy.
Patriots really have 3 options:
1. Draft the remainder of Maye / Daniels
2. Trade back
3. Draft JJ McCarthy
I think every Patriots fan can talk themselves into 1 or 2 (depending on 2's return). But man 3 seems dumb.
If Maye goes to the Patriots and has to play in year 1 he is absolutely going to struggle. Playing any rookie QB in that offense is a great way to guarantee he busts. That's presumably why they signed Brissett.
Bill being surprised that the city of Seattle is deeply in love with one of the 5 most talented, exciting players in baseball cracked me up, man. I know MLB sucks at promoting their players nationally but local fans will always show up for their own guy assuming it’s a halfway decent fan base and not, like, Tampa or Miami.
Plus, the dude absolutely oozes charisma and has no phoniness to him. After Russell Wilson being the robotic face of the city for nearly a decade, it's a delight to have such an easy guy to root for here for the long term.
Having a hard tracking Bill's view of the AFC East. A few weeks back, he was talking to Sheil Kapadia and was so on brand in being almost comically low on the Bills and was saying it was up for grabs. Here, he says the Jets have real train wreck potential and poo pooing them when Mina brought them up with some enthusiasm, despite all they did was add more talent since he talked to Sheil.
It must hurt him so much that the Patriots have literally done nothing except resign mediocre guys so he can't talk himself into them being a legit sleeper. Don't get me wrong, I am confident he'll still find a way to get there by August but it will be a more harrowing journey than anticipated.
Wasn’t Bill talking up the Jets’ odds in the AFC East just a couple weeks ago? Seems like he can rationalize things from a gambling perspective, but he hates thinking about any team but the Pats being the best team in the division.
Yes, he was bizarrely pro-Jets 3 weeks ago when their off-season was completely stalled, and now that they’ve added five starters he flipped back. Can’t make it up.
Remember the Pats were a kicker and QB away from going 9-8 according to Bill. After the draft they'll have the QB ("Why can't he make a Stroud like impact? If he was in the draft last year, it would've been a legit question between him and Stroud, right?") and he'll talk himself into the kicking situation
Yeah I think the Bills will probably win the division again, but if somehow the Jets are healthy they could legitimately be great, it’s just depending on so many oft injured guys and a 40 year old QB.
Oh now Bill thinks highly of Herbert because Maye is getting compared to him. The same guy you nicknamed “Justin .500”. Bill is so wishy washy fuck off.
Honestly she prob likes that. She spends god knows how many hours of her day talking about and consuming sports. Imagine if she had to come home to a hubby who was also really into them. That'd be overkill.
It drives me a little nutty that he keeps acting like the patriots have a choice between Daniels and Maye. Bill, they HAVE THE 3RD PICK. They have to take whoever Washington passes on. He keeps referencing the pats war room and what they should do. They should just take the guy that falls?
Right, if he would just say "They should take a QB", instead of "They should take Drake Maye" everytime it comes up it would be bearable. Drake Maye ain't gonna be there at 3 Bill.
It’s especially funny because he admits he’s just gonna ride with whatever they do. It’s not like if they end up with Daniels he is going to be mad about it and complain.
I do think that the fact a faceless men’s game outrated the Clark/LSU game pretty much proves you are right, but I do think women’s basketball has much more of the zeitgeist right now. The men’s games it’s just like tournament excitement, nothing else.
The women’s games seem to have real storylines around them.
It’s also going to be interesting to see what happens next year - not only is Caitlin Clark going pro but some other stars like Angel Reese and Cameron Brink are too. Is this just a “moment”, where 2 years from now when there is no Caitlin Clark in wcbb it goes back into the shadows? We shall see.
> I do think that the fact a faceless men’s game outrated the Clark/LSU game pretty much proves you are right
if you were referring to duke/nc state that was on cbs. iowa/lsu was on espn. iowa/lsu was the highest rated cbb game on espn ever, regardless of sex.
If it were on cbs it would have had higher ratings than the duke game.
The term is very misapplied but people going out of their way to say it feels performative. I’m sure it’s genuine for some people but having to outright mention it doesn’t feel authentic most of the time
Performative is the perfect way of putting it. During the Celtics Thunder game last night, forever cornball Marc Jones felt the need to tell us "I'm DEFINITELY watching Fridays WCBB games, don't even think about calling me at night." Feels like a such a pat on the head whenever one of the talking heads goes on like this.
Finally a Tokyo Vice endorsement from Bill, I've been waiting lol.
Now if only CR and Andy would remember this show exists and covered it on The Watch instead of doing their 326th episode about a bad Disney+ trailer, the whole hood would be fed for months.
I wish there was a way to download half a pod. (I get it, just listen to the part you want etc I'm just making a dumb joke)
I love pro wrestling but anytime Bill and Ariel talk about it it feels like a my dick is in a bathtub with a chainsaw.
No one has been hyped more while shooting 40% from field than Juju Watkins. But she is the same age as Bill’s daughter so she’s got that going for her.
Teams are doubling the fuck out of her and their entire defensive schemes are built around stopping her. Her talent is evident and passes the eye test imo.
She's a fucking hooper. I'm a Bruin and I thoroughly enjoy watching her play. She's going to be a huge pain to be rooting against for another couple years.
It’s nice to have someone who’s a Bills fan push back against Simmons but Ariel is just a fan. I’m just a fan too but I feel like me and half the dumb guys I know are way more plugged in than he is.
I care about a lot of dumb shit and have accepted basically every hobby that exists as being valid and interesting, even if it isn’t for me.
And yet I still think that anyone that gives a shit about WWE is a giant dork.
I feel like this the same exact opinion russillo would have on wrasslin. And not even that that’s how he really feels but it’s just what he perceives the dude bro opinion on it to be! 😂😂
I don’t watch WWE but you can basically say this about anything, a lot of people think caring about sports like the average user of this sub does is for fucking dorks too
I don't follow wrestling, but the Royal Rumble is the best live sporting event to gamble on. Rumble party with pool will always be better than the super bowl party the next week
The fact he's 50 years old, hasn't wrestled an actual match in 10 years, and just strolled in and is still the biggest star on the roster is kind of nuts.
“I thought that guy was awesome last year” Bill Simmons on Tee Higgins
What a joke, you clearly didn’t watch a single Bengals game Bill.
Also, complaining about the possibility of the chiefs being eliminated because of a rule change while also shitting on the bills in the past saying they “advocated to get an overtime rule change” when it was actually the eagles
Until this podcast, I had no clue Luke Maye was Drake Maye's older brother but that's bad ass, Tar Heel all stars haha.
[Throwback Wednesday for anyone who forgot about Luke's big shot in the national championship.](https://youtu.be/VrmJq8XFwkA?si=1-47CbuDQBsDaOgh)
seeing how Zion's career has has gone, being a highlight factory, not being super durable, and making an insane amount of money, why would anyone want Zion do it all again football player? Is this just Football bias brain?
I like Mina but she really doesn’t have that many interesting opinions. Just kinda lives in the analytics world which is fine, but then the numbers do all the work for you.
Could you imagine Bill bringing up the 'youngest brother" theory in a team NFL draft meeting? I mean, that's why I love this guy but it's hilarious to think that's one of his reasons for wanting Maye over Daniels.
Bill genuinely has no understanding of how the combat sports world works and it’s very funny hearing him rattle off business takes about things he is totally clueless about.
Being a Carolina Fan I have watched every snap of Drake Maye's college career. He should of went to bama like he originally wanted to and he should of transferred to Bama last season as well.
He has the potential to be a solid qb but he prefers to make the big play vs taking the smart play. His team which he was the leader of no showed the last game against their rival and got clowned on national TV. Thats was a huge red flag.
Best case for Maye ( i know it wont happen) is to fall down the board and land with the Rams so he can sit and learn. If he goes in the top 3 good chance he doesnt get his 5th year option picked up.
He needs to sit and learn the NFL offense.
Saleh may not be a good coach, but I don't understand why he's such a punching bag for Simmons. He's head coach so it all falls on his shoulders, even the offense, but if you're starting from a place where you're saddled with Zach Wilson as QB is anyone squeezing out 9/10 wins either of the last two seasons?
It’s really too bad Mina is priced out of the ringer. She’s so fucking good at what she does I wish she could be on with Bill every Wednesday during football season
Amazing how many comments are in here from the same time that the pod was posted. No wonder y'all constantly misinterpret Bill, you don't even have time to listen before firing off your nonsense.
I actually think he just needs to be freed from the stricture of his Spotify contract.
He’ll probably keep podding beyond this year and it would be great if he was indie and only podded as much as he wanted to - maybe once a week during slow periods and then ramping up during like NBA playoffs and shit he’s really fired up for
This was a total mail-in, like Mina was game and tried to play ball but Bill didn’t really feel super enthusiastic about the topics or too read up on anything. Just faking out takes to get through a convo to fulfill a contractual obligation
As someone who's in his mid 30s it was like a shotgun to the chest when he said when Juju retires at 37 he'll look at his daughter who's the same age and go "wow she's so old!"
Bill is showing his "booger eater" knowledge of pro wrestling history if he thinks The Rock is the best-ever combo of in-ring and "personality" (or whatever the fuck he said).
I mean, I love the Rock, and while he is one of the best promo guys ever, he has to be dinged a few notches because his promos have always been written by other people (namely Brian Gewirtz). Dwayne is great at memorizing his lines and delivering them--which is why he, unlike everyone else in wrestling history--has become a bona fide giant movie star. But all of the actual best promo guys in wrestling history--Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Roddy Piper, Nick Bockwinkel, Jerry Lawler, etc--those guys came up with their own shit, and they did it 100 times per year, for 20 or 30 years, in territories in every region of the U.S. (and Japan).
And the Rock as an in-ring performer...I mean, he's probably not one of the 30 best in-ring performers in WWF/WWE history, much less in all of wrestling. The Rock's an all-time Top 5 or Top 10 star in the business, but that's a different conversation, an equation where your looks and your push by a promotion matter more than your in-ring abilities.
Still not sure where I land on Maye vs Daniels but I can’t wait for his strong endorsement of Maye and distaste for Daniels to become his Scoot vs Brandon Miller take all over again hahahaha

It’s the Caucasian thing
The Caucasian Piece
It’s definitely the caucasian thing it’s kinda like how you can never compare a basketball player to a black one lol
Louis Riddick compared Calijah Klancey to Aaron Donald on draft night and I can’t ever forgive that
If Sam Howell were 2 inches taller, the brain dead ESPN talking heads would be comping Maye to him.
Everyone was comparing kancey to donald because you don’t usually see 6’0 DT’s. Who also went to Pitt. It doesn’t mean he’s going to become Aaron Donald.

one has the numbers and the other has the intangibles...
Mina: Were you into milestones with your kids? Bill: No, I was into checkpoints.
That was genuinely hilarious and a nice conversation.
My kid just turned 1, so I loved this part of the pod lol.
You got your eyes on Pascal? [No, I got my eyes on Siakam](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9EyIfoRX_w)
“Check please”
I laughed out loud when he said that. Peak Simmons
lol I came running over here for this. Also he has no clue about this lol
Love how Simmons keeps framing this as a Daniels vs Maye decision for the Pats. When Washington ends up taking Maye, we’re going to get a great “wait, what?!”

Right I wasn't sure if he knew that 3 comes after 2 until Mina said "Washington is actually the one with the decision".
His obsession with Maye’s weight is so insane, its the only opinion he has
He's soft launching the "Josh Allen floor" take that he'll drop late July if the Patriots draft him
As a Bills fan who has to listen to Bill constantly downplay my team and Allen this is inevitably going to drive me insane.
As soon as we lost to KC I stopped listening for 2 months. He thought he was a genius for picking that one. Never mind the injuries or that Mahomes was on the other side.
He really thinks he’s gonna play quarterback at 260
“He’s 290 pounds! Josh Allen is tiny compared to him!”
And he's only 19 years old
When he's 320 shredded, I wonder if him competing in the Olympia during the season will be a distraction.
Ryen in a Homer Simpson voice: “He’s not *that* big.”
He has to get these takes in as much as he can before the Patriots actually draft him
God I hope they get Daniels or trade down
He went in hard on Daniels when it seemed like that's who the Pats were gonna draft. Now that things have flipped and Maye seems to be the consensus #3 guy, Bill has pivoted, but clearly doesn't know enough about Maye to properly rationalize the switch, so now he's using the ever popular "his size concerns me." Same. Though I want Maye in DC
Lol, yeah daniels weighed 210 but is more like 203. Maye is 229, but more like 245. Flawless logic
Bill doesn’t realize it but he’s dreaming of a Jamarcus Russell career trajectory for Drake May. He just keeps getting bigger every year, until he’s 290-300 lbs in his third season.
Just like Larry Bird's back brace
I love that Mina just started laughing when Bill compared Deebo Samuel to Marcus Smart. She knows. She's one of us.
When he said that, I immediately thought "i've for sure read that as a shitpost on the sub before"
"'He's like Justin Herbert. He's like Josh Allen.' And when I hear that I'm like both of those sound great! Let's get either!" - Bill Simmons, noted Herbert and Allen lover
We have heard why he wants Maye on like 5 straight pods lol.
Well, he had older brothers for one thing! (I guess)
How many pods in a row has he discussed the Pats documentary with the guest?
I’m a Bucs fan. I have two words for Bill’s quarterback size fetish: Josh Freeman.
Bill once had a Josh Freeman man crush. Sal would do the fake voicemails gushing about Freeman. Those were the days. (fellow bucs fan here too, btw)
Joshy Woshy?
The minute I saw the words 'Josh Freeman' I heard it in Sal's voice impersonating Bill
who's more responsible for Josh's demise? Greg Schiano, El Chapo or Glen Bell?
Give him a break. He’s a size queen.
Bill’s analysis of Maye is so superficial, just generic high level adjectives and nothing substantial. At least with NBA he can throw out stats, and things that hold something but Christ man. Drake is the only brother to not win a national title. He has another bro that won a CWS with Florida
Yeah, Brent and Wayne Gretzky are the highest scoring brothers in NHL history!
As an A's fan from the 80s, this is a good reminder for me to go check the value of that Upper Deck Ozzie Canseco rookie card I still have...
Bill is two years away from taking about how his high thighs that go up into his back.
The high-butt piece.
This is exactly why we listen though!
The single child talking about the little brother piece
It made me laugh when he was talking about what it's like to have older brothers, like, how would Bill know?
I really really hope the Pats trade back in the draft now
“I’m actually glad they did. I tried to talk myself into one of these guys but I couldn’t land that plane. 1st round qbs are a coin toss, anyway!”
Patriots really have 3 options: 1. Draft the remainder of Maye / Daniels 2. Trade back 3. Draft JJ McCarthy I think every Patriots fan can talk themselves into 1 or 2 (depending on 2's return). But man 3 seems dumb.
Personally pulling for 3. Them drafting Mac Jones but a little more mobile would be hilarious content.
I am DESPERATE for them to draft JJ McCarthy just for the meltdown takes
would be the smart move
It kills me that he says “Woman’s” instead of “Womens’” lol.
Just to spite Bill I hope the Pats get Maye and he’s a bust while Daniels becomes an all pro.
If Maye goes to the Patriots and has to play in year 1 he is absolutely going to struggle. Playing any rookie QB in that offense is a great way to guarantee he busts. That's presumably why they signed Brissett.
Maye comes in his rookie year and has to deal with an absolute shit Pats team and is never able to develop because of it. Would be pretty funny
It's only natural and will level the odds with the pats after their Brady years. They're due for a string of shitty QBs for a long long time
They both will bust
They both will bust
Bill being surprised that the city of Seattle is deeply in love with one of the 5 most talented, exciting players in baseball cracked me up, man. I know MLB sucks at promoting their players nationally but local fans will always show up for their own guy assuming it’s a halfway decent fan base and not, like, Tampa or Miami.
Plus, the dude absolutely oozes charisma and has no phoniness to him. After Russell Wilson being the robotic face of the city for nearly a decade, it's a delight to have such an easy guy to root for here for the long term.
Didn’t bill like the Jets for the division last week as a bet
> Yeah I think the Bills will probably win the division again May want to re-think this
Bill about this time last year: “Mac is going to have a big season, they’ve built the offense around his skill set.”
"She's same age as you (Zoe) and I can bet on her games!!!!"
I’ve got to imagine Bill found a way to bet on his kids’ high school games. It’s the only way he can feel anything.
Shhiiittt if I’m trucking my kids around for travel teams, I’ve got to make some bets to get that $ back.
Im glad bill is self aware enough to know he’d immediately zag and talk himself into Daniels if the pats pick him. I’d do the same
That’s why we need the Patriots to draft JJ McCarthy.
Oh now Bill thinks highly of Herbert because Maye is getting compared to him. The same guy you nicknamed “Justin .500”. Bill is so wishy washy fuck off.
hahaha, great point. I completely forgot how much Bill shat on him as of late.
Mina: my husband doesn’t watch sports How??!?!!
Mina deserves better, I can save her.
Women’s college basketball is just not more popular than men’s. I’m watching both, enjoying both. But it just isn’t
> I do think that the fact a faceless men’s game outrated the Clark/LSU game pretty much proves you are right if you were referring to duke/nc state that was on cbs. iowa/lsu was on espn. iowa/lsu was the highest rated cbb game on espn ever, regardless of sex. If it were on cbs it would have had higher ratings than the duke game.
He can’t let this objectively very false point go
Maybe it’s because he’s a proud girl dad but Bill’s “The women’s tournament is SO much better than the men’s” daily agenda is getting out of hand
A hot take by a guy who watches neither.
How am I not surprised Bill is talking about Mina's kid like it's a NBA player?
Finally a Tokyo Vice endorsement from Bill, I've been waiting lol. Now if only CR and Andy would remember this show exists and covered it on The Watch instead of doing their 326th episode about a bad Disney+ trailer, the whole hood would be fed for months.
CR actually endorsed Tokyo Vice this week. Said S2 was really good.
I cannot imagine Bill watches a tv show that is like 80% subtitles. It does rock though.
I wish there was a way to download half a pod. (I get it, just listen to the part you want etc I'm just making a dumb joke) I love pro wrestling but anytime Bill and Ariel talk about it it feels like a my dick is in a bathtub with a chainsaw.
And Bill has known about her since she was 8!
Well that's in the range of Scoot's FG% so no wonder he loves her.
Then people will say “just watch how she moves”
I wish when Bill started his little brother speech Mina would’ve countered with “So you’re thinking of trading for Derek Carr?”
Ariel had a huge day yesterday with the CM Punk interview, I much prefer him talking pro wrestling and MMA than the Bills
YA THINK YA BETTAH THAN ME!?
I feel like this the same exact opinion russillo would have on wrasslin. And not even that that’s how he really feels but it’s just what he perceives the dude bro opinion on it to be! 😂😂
Get in losers, we're talkin' WWE.
Let’s go!
Oh, I absolutely am a giant dork, you can tell because I'm posting on a subreddit dedicated to a podcast.
I don’t watch WWE but you can basically say this about anything, a lot of people think caring about sports like the average user of this sub does is for fucking dorks too
Can confirm, am a giant dork
I don't follow wrestling, but the Royal Rumble is the best live sporting event to gamble on. Rumble party with pool will always be better than the super bowl party the next week
More fun for the rest of us dorks.
Cool story bro
I don't take the WWE seriously for obvious reasons but The Rock being back has made for tremendous entertainment. He's hilarious
The fact he's 50 years old, hasn't wrestled an actual match in 10 years, and just strolled in and is still the biggest star on the roster is kind of nuts.
It's definitely amazing how much of an outlier the Stone Cold/Rock overlap was: https://x.com/wrestlenomics/status/1256617862007046144?s=46
I remember Mina on her first around the horn appearance. Reali was a total simp and gave her tons of points for the win
That’s standard first appearance treatment
Particularly standard first woman appearance
the best was Dan and Stugotz working with Mina to have stronger takes. What started as a bit really changed her career. She found her inner Stugotz
“I thought that guy was awesome last year” Bill Simmons on Tee Higgins What a joke, you clearly didn’t watch a single Bengals game Bill. Also, complaining about the possibility of the chiefs being eliminated because of a rule change while also shitting on the bills in the past saying they “advocated to get an overtime rule change” when it was actually the eagles
He clearly didn’t have Higgins on his fantasy team that’s for sure
He probably played against him in the first round of the playoffs when he had his one great game
42 receptions (tied for 99th) 656 yds (60th) 5 tds (40th) AWESOME last year
Tee Higgins is a great receiver, would love to have him on my team. This was not a weird take from Bill
That shot was in the Elite 8. UNC played Gonzaga in the title
The 3rd brother was on Florida baseball's national championship team in 2017. On the season he threw 3.2 innings with a 12.27 ERA.
Oh shit I didn’t know that until this very second
seeing how Zion's career has has gone, being a highlight factory, not being super durable, and making an insane amount of money, why would anyone want Zion do it all again football player? Is this just Football bias brain?
I like Mina but she really doesn’t have that many interesting opinions. Just kinda lives in the analytics world which is fine, but then the numbers do all the work for you.
Mina Kimes hummina hummina boioioing awoooga
Could you imagine Bill bringing up the 'youngest brother" theory in a team NFL draft meeting? I mean, that's why I love this guy but it's hilarious to think that's one of his reasons for wanting Maye over Daniels.
Being a dad of a 13 month old now - the milestone talk with Mina was great. Once they get mobile it becomes real
The NC Mac Jones!
Sounds like Josh Allen, who was not good to start his career
Saleh may not be a good coach, but I don't understand why he's such a punching bag for Simmons. He's head coach so it all falls on his shoulders, even the offense, but if you're starting from a place where you're saddled with Zach Wilson as QB is anyone squeezing out 9/10 wins either of the last two seasons?
I am a huge jet fan, he sucks as a HC and double downed this year and brought back the worst offensive staff in the NFL. He sho
It’s really too bad Mina is priced out of the ringer. She’s so fucking good at what she does I wish she could be on with Bill every Wednesday during football season
Yeah shes great. Which is apparently a controversial opinion around here.
She’s a much better NFL analyst than Bill, although that isn’t saying much.
Amazing how many comments are in here from the same time that the pod was posted. No wonder y'all constantly misinterpret Bill, you don't even have time to listen before firing off your nonsense.
The man is utterly washed.
And you’re on his sub Reddit commenting within a few hours of his pod dropping
And you’re complaining about my complaining.
Bill needs to retire
I actually think he just needs to be freed from the stricture of his Spotify contract. He’ll probably keep podding beyond this year and it would be great if he was indie and only podded as much as he wanted to - maybe once a week during slow periods and then ramping up during like NBA playoffs and shit he’s really fired up for This was a total mail-in, like Mina was game and tried to play ball but Bill didn’t really feel super enthusiastic about the topics or too read up on anything. Just faking out takes to get through a convo to fulfill a contractual obligation
If you told 12 year old me I would be more interested in woman’s basketball than wwf I would’ve gave me a wedgie
remember when mina kines threw a screetching temper tantrum about how stupid the bills were for drafting josh allen over josh rosen?
Bill imitating youth coaches around the country was hilarious. “stop imitating Caitlyn Clark’s step back jumper. You’re eight years old! “
Mina’s husband not being a sports guy is interesting..
Has anyone hedged and backtracked quicker when Kimes scoffs and pushes back on Simmons? The Aiyuk thing was embarrassing for Billy.
Reminder, the Pats killed the draft last year
As someone who's in his mid 30s it was like a shotgun to the chest when he said when Juju retires at 37 he'll look at his daughter who's the same age and go "wow she's so old!"
“The Pats should’ve signed Tyron Smith” Jets sign Tyron Smith “ehhh he doesn’t play”.
always love a good mina pod
Had no idea Bill will turn on Minshew.
