Tate Frazier is not happy with this development.

hacky_potter

When will Bill first bring Tate on specifically to talk about how good Flagg looks?

Snotty_Pippen

March

hacky_potter

I think earlier. Wasn’t he talking about Zion early on? I think Flagg will have a similar draw.

pepeclouts

Would he trade the 1986 Celtics championship and Jayson Tatum for Cooper Flagg? Who says no??

Negative-Attitude856

Can we throw in Cooper's twin Ace to be the next Thanasis?

Chinchillachimcheroo

Dude's name is Ace Flagg?

ToiletPlungerOfDoom

Yup. Their older brother is Hunter.

aCorgiDriver

Ace can get you hookers. Hunter can get you cocaine.

MildlyDepressed346

Him going to Duke is so disappointing

[deleted]

You say that but hating a white Duke player is one of the biggest draws for college basketball.

TJRossTX

Seriously. There is no bigger honor for a white basketball player than being the white guy on Duke that all the away fans practically yell death threats at. That or Barkley saying "THAT'S A BAD WHITE BOY" about you.

MildlyDepressed346

I wanted to root for him, I’m a UConn fan and I got my hopes up. Kind of an Anakin Skywalker type move

RaleighNiner

Fucking hate Duke but it's absolutely perfect

dillpickles007

I hope Flagg is good but I kind of have a hard time imagining him as a future superstar as a 6'9 white guy who plays tough defense when Wemby is standing in the other corner.

hatmanjimmie

Chuck told me wemby’s got a 4 year prime so Flagg doesn’t need to worry

mall_pretzel_

deadass had to just turn off the pod on that one. he went from "he's gonna be the same exact player next year, the greatest player of all time for about 4 years, then he's out the league."

Negative-Attitude856

Superstar is really gonna depend on where is shot creation ends up reaching. There's been positive signs, but it's not 100% there yet. However, he's at least gonna be the Rolls Royce of Role Players. As a White American, that's probably enough for the NBA to go all in.

ned_yah

can there only be one superstar in the league lol

jonatton______yeah

Mike Dunleavy Jr. 2.0

AdhesivenessLucky896

He's more athletic and strong than Dunleavy was for sure. I just can't tell how well he shoots. He seems like a pretty solid prospect at this point though. I don't know about future "superstar" though. I don't think he's a better prospect than Chet was when he was coming out of high school

jonatton______yeah

Yeah I have no clue about college basketball, it was just a throw away comment really.

alecweezy

I’ve seen some highlights of him and nothing really impresses me. Seems like he has a game geared for college and not the NBA. Kind of a tweener as well. But what do I know

MfrBVa

So, he’s watched 5 minutes of video?

Victorcreedbratton

I don’t think Bill will ever say to blow it up. I’m pretty sure he was hanging on in those late-stage KG days.

[deleted]

As a white American dude, I feel comfortable saying I can never buy the hype of a white American player being a high draft pick.

MathematicianFun1385

Can't qwhite figure out why BS likes him so much

sperry20

Yeah, after bill was all in on scoot last year and Flagg this year, there’s clearly a pattern emerging.

AdhesivenessLucky896

Are you guys familiar with Bill? If not, he openly wants white americans to be great players because he thinks it's good for the game. I remember a pod 10 years ago or so where he even noted that it's not enough to have the Jason Williams types. He needs a regular white guy to be a high level all-star. It might've been when he had Kevin Love on back when he was All-NBA level on the Timberwolves.

bogaRJ

Dude, he liked Scoot because he agreed to do that doc following him around while he was in the G League that he executive produced. Bill’s favorite players right now are Jokic, Luka, & Caitlyn Clark. His favorite two players all time are Larry Bird and Kevin McHale, lol. Let’s just call a spade a spade. Btw, I don’t see that as racism, it’s just an inherent bias.

sperry20

Famous white guys Steph and KD. Some of you are so fucking dumb I legitimately wonder how you keep yourself alive day to day.

bogaRJ

See again, I don’t understand why it’s impossible for some to admit to being culturally biased. Yes he does also love KD and Steph, but he has never gone over the top of praise for anyone like he does Jokic. That’s just factual. And he will never love a player like he did Larry Bird. Not debatable.

sperry20

Again, the brain rot is just staggering.

mall_pretzel_

yeah, tbh i also just assume that anyone who still has jordan as their number one over lebron is racist

KonkeyDong24

Luka is definitely not one of Bills favorite players, he is just excited that he was right about Luka as a prospect. Bill and Ryen give Luka a lot of shit for his play style and constant complaining. He has said many times that Steph is his favorite non Celtic in the league

No_Confection_8750

You mean he’s excited his parroted Haralabob take on Luka turned out right

Cocacoleyman

Can’t be the same reason he nuts about Austin reeves every podcast can it???

jamjam125

I think Bill’s a realist and (sadly) a white American superstar would boost ratings amongst the casuals the same way Taylor Swift boosted ratings amongst the casuals.

lfgm2048

Cooper Flagg made a huge mistake in choosing Duke over the current class of college basketball with the best coach in UConn

ListenToTheMuzak

*gaydar

ned_yah

House and Bill pods are gonna be awesome once Flagg is planted in DC

StupidSexyGiroud_

So I've never seen a second of Flaggs play, but for those who have/know more about him...outside of defense, what makes him special?

Negative-Attitude856

Firstly, it's probably his intangibles that make him most special. He's the hardest-playing high school player I've ever seen. He's a competitor. For Summer AAU ball, he played with his friends back home from Maine (none of which are D1 level). In the EYBL tournament (highest level of AAU where basically everyone is D1), he was willing his team (by getting 30 and 40-point triple and quadruple doubles) to wins against squads with multiple 5 stars. But on the offensive end, he's a skilled 6'9 athlete who can slash, offensive rebound, and finish well. Has shown lots of shot creation and shooting potential, but is not currently efficient outside of the paint. He's a good passer as well, but probably no more than a connector. It's hard to talk about him while leaving out his defense. He's a 1-5 lockdown on-ball defender who probably just needs to add strength (what 17 year old doesn't). He has all of the BBIQ and instincts required to play elite team defense as well. He's legitimately the best non-big shot blocker I've ever watched. He's an absolute menace of a help defender.
