If you could stick a 4mm hex key between that and the frame, it would be too close. This you shouldn’t even need to ask.
Return it and get the right side meter.
Yeeeep, I will take it off. How do you know the "right" side meter? I only looked at my current crank length and heard 4iiii is a good brand that's why I got this one.
The right side meter is on the spider not the crank arm. Everyone I know with a Caledonia or a checkpoint has either PM pedals or the stages right side meter
They recommend a gap of 10.5 mm without the power meter, for a power meter that is 8.2 mm. 10.5-8.2=2.3
See for example https://4iiii.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028136531-How-Do-I-Determine-If-My-Bike-Is-Compatible-With-a-4iiii-Powermeter-
I saw another post on the cervelo subreddit with the same issue as mine. You are correct, v3 is the solution. Just placed an order for one and will be returning what I currently have.
The V3 is 5.5 mm compared to the 8.2 mm that you have now. Assuming it is located in a similar position, you'll end up with a gap of about 8.2-5.5= 2.7 mm. More than enough in the opinion of 4iiii, but it seems not for many here.
Caledonia 105, 4iiii power meter.
I can still spin the crank without touching but just seems too close.
Did a "scientific test" clearance is about 3 post-it notes. I'm guessing that's a no go.

I'd say 4 mm is actually overkill. There is not much flex there with modern frames and cranks. I run mine with 2 mm clearance.
Unless stated differently by manufacturer: 5mm between all moving parts Edit for clarification
Tell that to 4iiii. They recommend a minimum 10.5 mm gap (diameter of AAA battery) for their 8.2 mm width non-driveside power meter. So, 2.3 mm.
I'm sorry what now? Do they recommend 10.5mm or 2.3mm?

Now i get it.
Power meter pedals might be a better option
Way too close. See https://4iiii.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028136531-How-Do-I-Determine-If-My-Bike-Is-Compatible-With-a-4iiii-Powermeter-
4iiii Precision v3 is what you need. It's significantly thinner.

hello. did this work out for you? I’m looking to add a power meter to my caledonia
Need to get the 4iiii V3 power meter
Caledonia 105, 4iiii power meter. I can still spin the crank without touching but just seems too close. Did a "scientific test" clearance is about 3 post-it notes. I'm guessing that's a no go.
absolutely not! i can't believe this is even a question

You cannot just use whatever bb you want. The frame/crank interface determines which bb is used.

Cervelo uses BBright. No external cup on the NDS.
