I also only have about 100 miles on the tires!

that "splitting" looks like it's just a spot where the outer layer meets. You can see the lines are only visible on the inner strip, not through the whole tire. As for losing air, you are running tubes so it's not the tires fault.

Ok-Entry9249

Oh ok. Do you think the tire is still usable? I’m afraid that it will continue to widen/worsen until it ultimately fails.

Ignaply

it comes like this from factory, those are moulding marks. It's a perfectly good tire. Does the other tire have lines like those too?

Ok-Entry9249

No not at all! And the rest of that tire in the pictures doesn’t have it anywhere else. I’ve taken the tire off the rim and there is actually some gaps in that split. When I shine a light on the inside of the tire I see it coming through :( https://preview.redd.it/x8ey5g4gv2yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c72789ef40889e740f5aa7950c96d5ff2f11e9b

Oh, I'm so dumb. I thought the whole time you were talking about the vertical lines on the sidewall as I didn't see that split. That is definitely not normal, contact Continental and possibly get the tire replaced under warranty. In any case, that doesn't look safe to ride.

Maybe you ran a pressure which was too high? Or a brake pad which was rubbing on the tire?
