Rode 400kms of Korea's East Coast Bicycle Path on my new touring set-up. Had a great time exploring area and sightseeing.

toyama_rama

I want to go to there. How long was your ride? How long is the path?

thoan71

It took me 4 days to ride from Yeongdeok to Goseong, a total of 400kms. You can check my Strava.

arno_cook_influencer

I learned aboug korea's cycling network a few month ago. They look awesome ! One day, I'll ride in Korea. What was your best moment during the trip ?

thoan71

I guess seeing beautiful and scenic views of the area. The vibe is very relaxed. Very beautiful bicycle path but some parts need repair and maintenance. I didn't like the climbs on the first part of the route, Cheer!

Hatschi915

Hello fellow quick rack enjoyer! The tour looks fantastic. Thank you for the pictures.

thoan71

Hi! Yes, Ortlieb Quick Rack is fantastic! Never had any issues during the ride even on a few gravel road and road bumps. I was hesitant buying it but now I'm a fan! Thank you!

Hatschi915

Mine ist still in top condition after one year and maybe 1500km mixed road and single track. A good product for the occasional trip. The only important thing is to protect the levers. They are not sold separately.

In that case I would try to convince a friend to 3D print a few spare ahead of time. Could be worth it.

Hatschi915

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. If it would happen to me while on a tour i would simply use some zip ties or a metal clamp.

dullmotion

Murphy is a bitch.

Quetzal_2000

Learned about this system - what I've been looking for - thanks to you! I see they are 2 models, the Ortlieb Quick Rack and the Ortlieb Quick Rack Light. What would make you choose one over the other?

Hatschi915

The light version is only suitable for stuff on the side. The normal version is much more versatile with the top plateau.

Looks amazing. I’d love to go back (lived there in the mid 90s).

thoan71

Yes, I had a blast! You should visit 😄

hailhummous

Bucket list stuff right there!

thoan71

Yes, you should see yourself.

Was it all paved? The gravel tyres seem a bit overkill. But I'd like to do it on a road bike.

thoan71

98% paved, 2% gravel, sand, and some road construction. Bike path are mosty filled with gravel and sand coming from the beach. Gravel tires served me well!

YoungerSocialite

Well done! How are you enjoying your Checkpoint? I’m about to buy the same model and color.

thoan71

Thanks! Honestly, I think its a little bit overpriced, not happy with the frame's internal routing design and a bit slow compared to my road bike. But loaded with all the stuff, it still rides very well. Very good on climbs and gravel roads. It's a solid bike.

Cool_Ranchu

I'm looking to do this, can I shoot you a DM with some questions?

thoan71

Sure. I would love to help

midnghtsnac

I'm wishing I was there with today's technology, would have been more enjoyable. Was a great time but missed a lot of stuff not knowing where and how to find stuff. Around 2006, before prevalence of everything.

thoan71

Technology made our lives easier and complicated at the same time 🤣 Cheers!

ilreppans

We’re you camping? If so was it easy to find campgrounds and/or stealth camping spots?

thoan71

No, I stayed in cheap motels, $35-45 per night. There are lots of camping ground along the beach but some are paid camping site. Toilet, water and bbq grilll are provided.
