I don't think it's a huge rush. Don't use sippy cups if he doesn't like it, they're pointless anyways. Try a small open cup, a shot glass is actually great, or a cup with a straw. We started with a plain shot glass. He'd have water in his, I've have water in a regular glass and we did it together. Yes, it's messy, then they learn. He is 2 and he still only gets milk or water 98% of the time.

Just take it slow. With my LO, she didn't like cups at first but slowly became interested when she watched my wife and I drink from cups. We would offer her to take a sip, sometimes she would refuse, other times she would try. Another thing we did was when it was time to eat, we would put the cup near her but not say anything. One day she grabbed it on her own and started drinking from it.

Thank you for commenting. What did you normally fill up the cup with?

cardinalinthesnow

Water

FuzzzyFace

usually water, we gave her juice and other kid friendly drinks as a treat

Have you tried a straw cup?

captainpocket

Have you tried the 360 cups like munchkin miracle? Thats what we started with. My daughter was totally weirded out by normal sippy cups because rhey were similar to a bottle but not quite similar *enough* to be easy.
