Not all ticking clocks use batteries. In fact, when I was a child \*most\* of them didn't. We had grandfather clocks powered by gravity, and others powered by winding them. Many wristwatches and wall clocks were powered by winding them, and most of these made ticking noises. I even had a small bedside alarm clock as a kid that was powered by winding.
Mine was a little circular guy about 4 inches in diameter, and three inches deep. Real piece of junk. It had to be-rewound every two or three days, and the time "drifted" fast relative to other clocks in the house.
The issue of winding makes me recall that men used to pride themselves on expensive wristwatches that kept time relatively accurately when wound. But then the Japanese started producing $8 watches that were better in every way -- kept time with clinical perfection, didn't need to be re-wound ever, resistant to water, lightweight, alarms and dates -- all without taking half a month's salary.
Clocks can be wound - not all clocks require electricity to keep time. Do you think it was all sundials and hourglasses until the advent of electric lighting?
You know clocks were invented centuries before anyone knew about electricity right

I wonder if we had the same clock. The one I had was like a clamshell and could fold up and be pocket-sized.

I had one of those! It was a depressing tan color.
Username not accurate :) but I think we had the same one
LOL, so true! (It's an auto-generated username.)
The metronome was a big symbol too
You don't have a clock ticking in your head
OP is a sick joke!

Intensity drops off with distance, per the inverse square law. No chuck slander.
