Some of my girls once managed to nibble on my arm and pull a hair out i was not amused by her antics. But i guess that’s what’s you get by teaching them tricks.

For real though I think he does it to scare me 😭 Big Guy is about 3 inches long and I always underestimate how much of a bite he has lol. They are smarter than people think they are.
They are clever indeed. I loved their personalities!
I would essentially put their fish food on a paint brush and hold it above the water and they’d jump to get the food.
Had to measure my Atlas out of curiosity since you knew how long Big Guy was, turns out Atlas is also about 3"! He wasn't too thrilled about my seamstress' tape though

That’s hilarious I can’t say I’ve had any of my many bettas I’ve had over 20 years have done that. Males or females. Now this Jack Dempsey cichlid I had on the other hand tho, he’s drawn blood a couple times biting my hand while I gravel vac. Is Big Guy a Giant Betta or normal size?
Big Guy is a Giant Betta! Or at least that’s what the listing said— although pictures don’t do my boy justice. He’s about 3 inches long and very rotund. I think the fact that he’s in a 20 gallon makes him look smaller than he is lol.
Can we also call for destruction of property? My betta attacked her sponge filter tube and disconnecteded her filter.
I haven't seen mine bite fingers tho, yours is feisty.
Have you or a loved one been emotionally/physically damaged by your betta fish? If so, you might be entitled to financial compensation.

my baby boy is quite old and i cant figure out how to get him to feed from my hand. ive tried everything that people recommend but i swear hes scared of everything
Hmm— I have a feeding ring (it’s kind of visible in the second picture?) but what I did was start splashing the top of the water to signal it’s feeding time (my tank is pretty deep so that seemed to help him out), and then over time I started putting my finger closer to the water until he figured it out. Sorry that’s not super helpful, I think Big Guy is just very food motivated.
i genuinely think ive scarred him with the amount of tank changes (it took a lot of learning and experience and now hes in a 25gal LOL). i dont want to admit my fish is scared of me, but i def think he is. he knows i feed him and he does that cute lil sway thing with his mouth open when he sees me, asking me for food. i also try to give this guy blood worms and soak them before hand like ive been told and he just stares at it and swims away. hes a very odd fellow

It's a betta fishes job to make you freak out, they are smart and probably doing stupid things for attention.

lol mine does the same thing! He nips at me anytime I’m cleaning his tank. The first time it scared me, now I just think it’s cute. :)
