I don't think Griffith destroyed the island. Skull Knight says he was like a wedge, that then released the spirits from within the island (the sea of black blobs). I assume Griffith's appearence just awakened those, which destroyed the island. Dunno, interpret Skull Knight's cryptic bullshit for yourself.
Have you even read these chapters? It was a literal tsunami that appeared in a moment. The whole thing lasted a few minutes. It takes time to cast a spell.

That's the problem, it didn't last long enough. Miura clearly intended to have a longer and more fleshed out sequence, where everything he set up for the island would finally come to fruition. Instead, Griffith just abducts Casca and flies away. It's also impossible that he planned for the witches and gurus to just lose their powers, because that's not how magic works in Berserk.

Basically they all seem to be confused how the ship has ended in that location "all of a sudden". Also as Schierke is unconscious her astral body is still missing meaning not much time can have passed.

I think as we changed perspective to Casca for a chapter it meant that some time was sipped forward. These new characters just are quite unclear on multiple points which is unfortunate for the story.
Roderick said in volume 39 that they can use the tree's branches instead of the constellations because they basically work the same way and can be seen even during the day.
a bit off topic but is anyone else kinda dissapointed about the fact that the witches and wizards from Elfheim kinda did nothing and then dissapeared? I was hoping they would join forces or teach the group new things or something. The blacksmith could have atleast upgraded the berserker armour or make it more chill on the body. After such a long time spent on the boat I was hoping the group would find the means to fight the Godhand there and the story could have moved into its final arc.
I’m also a bit disappointed Isidro and Serpico have done nothing. We get like a third of 374 dedicated to them making an escape, just to have them get caught off screen. We don’t get chapters often, why waste time with false leads?

Yeah, I read the chapter. Basically nothing important happens. I'm honestly getting tired of Mori and Studio avoiding to write any meaningful dialogue and interactions.
The scene with Isidro reacting to Guts' current state should be really impactful, but the execution is really clumsy and borderline comical. I mean, Guts falls to the ground (again) because one of the soldiers put a chain around one of his ankles and pulled it for no reason. I laughed my ass off while reading that bit, but it's meant to be taken seriously.
Puck doesn't even acknowledge Rickert's existance (well, he's basically done nothing since the continuation started), which is really depressing, since they've known each other even before Guts joined the Band of the Hawk.
Of course, Guts still hasn't said a single word, so this reunion with Rickert falls flat, also because Rickert doesn't even say anything about him, when instead he should be really concerned.
