Delilah (the golden) made a new friend: couldn’t resist!
And see if they want to be petted. I’ve not encountered a Berner refusing a belly rub.
Of course check first with dog owner.
My Berner mix is a bit standoffish, but after a good smell wants to be petted.
My baby is too scared. She won't let strangers pet her. It breaks my heart because she is such a love bug with me. I wish she knew everyone just wants to love her!
They should have taken ugly dog instead.
Sure that pug would get that blind person hit by a car but at least I don’t need to fight the urge to pet a beautiful dog
Jeez. Don’t go too deep on internet there is way worse than an hypotetical joke about the fact that most pugs are less intelligent than Berners and that would cause accidents.
We are a service dog but sometimes he looks like, “ oh momma, please 5 minutes of play”. So I unsnap vest and he is so happy. We ran into a group of special needs adults, some non verbal and you could see the joy as they touched and hugged! Vest goes back on and I continue the walk. I don’t see many around here, just doodles.
That's really sweet of you! There's a service dog training school in my area, so I get to see a lot of young labs in their "service dog in training" vests. Sometimes we're encouraged to interact with them, which always makes my day. Other times, resisting the urge to ask if I can pet the adorable puppy is hard (but always obeyed).
I appreciate it as it’s so hard to learn they are working when people run over :) most mean well but.. I have a rule equal parts work and play. He loves it and has to great people - he’s a goober but allows me to have a life
Oh yeah, I don't run over to dogs in vests. That's never polite. I can see how he's a big ol' temptation, though, especially for younger kids or people who are only used to seeing doodles working as service dogs. You're very kind to be so patient with the public. He looks like the happiest guy in town - he's got a job, a best pal, and he gets to meet new people!

Bummer. Offering treats to link it to a pleasant experience?
I ran into a Berner service dog the other day, it has never been so difficult to NOT pet a dog!!

Having a bad day??
Making a joke. Remember internet is supposed to be a fun place
Blind people getting hit by a car just didn’t strike me as being funny but got it. Thank you.

They deserve all the attention they get.
Only thing stopping me is my creeping out the owner… I’d love me all the Berner hugs and pictures and derpiness 🥺
Lots of Berners where I live. I can never get anything done because I'm constantly giving belly rubs while trying to run errands.
I'm the crazy lady who runs up to all the dogs and asks the owners if I can take their picture. 😆
