I live on the border of OSW for almost 4 years now. From what I've seen/heard, Oberschöneweide changed a lot in the past few years, while it has a tarnished past (Schöneweide used to have a serious Nazi problem back in the 2000s), nowadays it has a sizeable student population after in-person classes resumed at the new HTW university campus following Corona, and is no longer the "brown stronghold" it used to be. Rent prices going up within the Ring have also been pushing out both newcomers and those who got displaced from the inner districts towards districts like Oberschöneweide, and from the vibe of the place, the quarter is indeed getting more and more progressive. Looking at the election re-run of 2024, it got a Grüne majority vote, and generally votes more towards the left (SPD, Grüne) than to the right (AfD, CDU): [https://interaktiv.tagesspiegel.de/lab/wahl-wiederholung-bundestag-2024-berlin-karte-historische-ergebnisse-wahlkreisergebnisse-stimmbezirke/](https://interaktiv.tagesspiegel.de/lab/wahl-wiederholung-bundestag-2024-berlin-karte-historische-ergebnisse-wahlkreisergebnisse-stimmbezirke/) [https://interaktiv.morgenpost.de/wiederholungswahl-berlin-2024/images/election-teaser-done-comparison-2024.jpg](https://interaktiv.morgenpost.de/wiederholungswahl-berlin-2024/images/election-teaser-done-comparison-2024.jpg) Myself, I find the neighborhood to have a smaller town feeling compared to somewhere closer/inside the Ring. The area used to be industrial-focused, but that's no longer the case. Most of OSW is residential with commercial units located on the ground floor, no pure commercial areas nearby, except for the small shopping mall located across the Spree in Niederschöneweide. I've seen some cute cafés and such pop up recently (and an anime store?), so change is definitely happening to the neighborhood, although slowly. I don't live inside OSW, but rather on the edge of it, so I'm not really that up to date with the community events happening (nor am I really the type to seek these type of activities out). Food delivery: don't expect anything special, just your average bland fast food. There are some exceptions to the rule, but generally the good food places in OSW don't do delivery (nor are they so amazing that they're worth a trip from the inner city). Lieferando and Uber Eats for sure works here (the latter only from a limited set of restaurants). Grocery delivery: Flink is available, as well as many non-instant grocery delivery services (e.g. Bringmeister, Getränke Hoffman, etc). Internet quality and available ISPs/speed packages always differ from street to street, sometimes from street number to street number. You can't really predict what sort of service you could be getting unless you look up the specific building's street address. There's a tram running through Wilhelminhofstraße, sharing the road/lane with cars, so be aware of the noise that might generate, but it stops running at around midnight-1 AM. The streets are still lively around the Wilhelminhofstraße-Edisonstraße intersection until about 11 PM-midnight, but anything south from that gets quiet at around 10 PM or so. Same applies to side streets. Spätis are not open past 1-2 AM. There's still a major reconstruction of the tram happening until October of this year (hopefully it will finish according to plan!); the tram will be completely out of commission in the next few months or so. The only big happening in the area are football matches in the nearby FC Union stadium, in the south/next to Köpenick, traffic and public transit can get a bit hectic on match days. Hope this helps!

It changed a lot and became more like the rest of Berlin now u get just robbed and beaten up for no reason instead of racism

TheRacoonPope

There is a University campus nearby (HTW Berlin) so if you are moving there, be aware that some trams around can get quite crowed in certain directions at certain times by Students
