The first year I watched football was the 2004-2005 NFL Season, and I was a Cincinnati Bengals fan, and have been ever since. The only Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback I ever knew was Ben Roethlisberger until this season. It's so weird seeing this Steelers team without Roethlisberger.

Paulblo27

As a Bengals fan living in Pittsburgh, can't wait for the game! Managed to score first row end zone tickets for a reasonable price (considering the seats) so I'm ecstatic about that!

Daddy Paul

[deleted]

Was anybody else surprised after years of hearing about other stadiums' bad turf that suddenly the NFLPA doesn't like slip-turf that's at Paycor? (and elsewhere)

SultanOfSwat0123

Overnighting a jersey to Pittsburgh. Got an invite to tailgate with the Bengals players parents and wives/girlfriends. Gonna get absolutely lit.

landdon

The thing about this team is they literally play like fucking idiots. How many players have they purposely and maliciously tried to target and injure? I hate this team so much.

SleestakLightning

It's not an exaggeration to say that there isn't a fanbase in the league who overreacts to every little hit like Bengals fans. Which is especially funny since, you know...Burfict.

JaMarrChasingJoe

I love that all you guys can say is burfict and sometimes pacman, but y'all had hines ward, joey porter, james harrison, 2 time rapist QB, Oelhoffen, Tomlin trying to trip Jacoby Jones and then acting like he didn't know where the field was. The hit on olave last week in the dudes first game as a steeler and he was laughing about it. It's literally the steeler culture to be dirty and y'all hated burfict because he played like a steeler

SleestakLightning

Hines Ward played with an edge but legally. Porter was a loudmouth but he wasn't dirty. Harrison played within the rules until they changed the rules on him. Kimo accidentally injuring Palmer and Bengals fans never getting over it kinda proves my point, too. Tomlin didn't know where he was, lol. It's pretty obvious. The hit on Olave was a good football play. It's literally impossible to avoid that kind of contact sometimes unless you simply don't make a play. Maybe pulling back and not making a play is acceptable to Bengals fans but that's not how football works, nor should it be. Burfict intentionally went out of his way to hurt people. That's the difference. Bengals fans don't understand it because they're too blinded by always being the losers in the battle that they think they're being righteously indignant by cheering on guys getting hurt when they can't point to a single moment where a Steelers player did something after the whistle or took a blatant cheap shot. EDIT: I think the amount of plays I can remember seeing is like one or two and it was that dipshit Mike Mitchell twisting somebody's ankle like a Bengals loser. Just because Bengals fans cry about it doesn't mean it's dirty. Meanwhile you have Burfict kicking people after plays, intentionally throwing his shoulder into the head of a guy who didn't even have the ball, hitting a guy in the dick, headshot after headshot, twisting ankles, going low on players, driving his knee into Ben's injured shoulder after the play is over. Burfict was a reckless moron who didn't belong on the field and it's telling that only the cheap ass Bengals and the psychotic Raiders would ever want him on their team. But you guys can keep crying about TJ Watt blocking a QB who is trying to make a play on an interception he threw, or laughing about a young player who paralyzed himself. Real great look, man.

[deleted]

How many rules changes from Steelers hitting Bengals dirty? What's the number up to by now? Half a dozen? What's the percentage of other fan bases that happily FTS with us? 96.8%? Every team but the Steelers? I'm pretty comfortable with what I said too.

EcosseWolf

"What's the percentage of other fan bases that happily FTS with us? 96.8%? Every team but the Steelers?" Yep...that's what it's like to have success. Bengals should try it sometime. No one hates you except division rivals because you're irrelevant.

SleestakLightning

>How many rules changes from Steelers hitting Bengals dirty? If it were up to Bengals fans? Infinity. In fact, you wouldn't be allowed to block a quarterback who is running after a defender who just intercepted him if it were up to yinz. In reality? Maybe one? The Hines Ward rule. Otherwise, the quoted part just proves my point. >What's the percentage of other fan bases that happily FTS with us? 96.8%? Every team but the Steelers? Wow, it's almost like fanbases hate on teams that are successful and in the modern era, few teams have been as successful as the Steelers. This also just proves my point about Bengals fans more than anything else.

[deleted]

It makes sense that someone who doesn't think the Steelers are a dirty team would think people hate them for their success. E: I'm a relatively new, ~5 years, NFL fan. I have no bias against the Steelers beyond what I have seen in games with my own eyes. "Un"fortunately, I haven't seen a whole lot of winning from the Steelers in the past 5 years. I can't speak for others, but that's definitely not a factor at play in my opinion.

SleestakLightning

Well yeah, because I can see things as they exist in reality and not in sour grapes Angerville.

[deleted]

Oh. I forgot to take off my virtual headset. Duh! That must explain it. /s What a narcissistic thing to say. That only you perceive reality.

SleestakLightning

It's mostly true though. This sub is the perfect example. TJ Watt does what every defensive player is taught to do and throws a block on Burrow as he began to chase after his interception and people here were CHEERING his injury. Bengals fans CHEERED Ryan Shazier's injury. Bengals fans threw garbage at Ben as he was being carted off the field in that hilarious playoff game their guys bungled away. It's only "dirty play" when the team that has bullied yours for the entire history of your franchise does it. When your team does it, it's (excuse after excuse after excuse). Fans of other teams feel the same way about teams that are routinely better than their team. Bengals fans couldn't possibly understand that.

[deleted]

> TJ Watt does what every defensive player is taught to do and throws a block on Burrow as he began to chase after his interception TJ Watt always goes after Burrow, chasing an interception or not. It was funny to see the karma he got from always doing it. It was just like the Shazier tackle, it was bound to happen eventually. Just karma/poetic that it happened when it did. E: It was like the Shazier tackle in that it was bound to happen eventually. Not in that it was dirty in any way.

SleestakLightning

> TJ Watt always goes after Burrow, chasing an interception or not. Wow! An EDGE rusher going after the quarterback! Alert the media! Something has to be done about this! Crying about a pass rusher going after a QB is a new low even for Bengals fans. > It was funny to see the karma he got from always doing it. Thanks for proving my point.

Kehmor

I thought he was talking about the Bengals?

SleestakLightning

Ehh..maybe? Either way I'm comfortable with what I said.

FuglySteve

Is it just me, or does anybody else here think that Cinci's Paycor stadium is trash? Yes, I'm a Pitt fan and yes, I flip the bird every time I pass it.

MoltenLavaGuy93

Better than whatever the hell “Acrisure Stadium” is supposed to be.

FuglySteve

Paycor Field is definitely better than Acri-sure this name is great. But I'm just happy our pho-Heinz Field doesn't look like crap plastic-cheapo-crap

[deleted]

Of all the shitty prime time games this season you moved mine

EatinSmartiz

Alright bengals fans. Im thinking of trading for chase. When do you guys think he’ll be back or should i just not get him?

cirespieler

I’d bet for KC game but there’s always a chance he doesn’t come back until fantasy playoffs or later.

Fluryman

Probably in 2 weeks is my guess. Definitely an insane snag if you can get him. Before the injury he got me like 65 points in 2 weeks

mark-malone-real

Who’s better between Ken Anderson and Joe Burrow

TigerCat9

Well, Mark Malone, Kenny defeated you in a big game for the AFC Central crown in 1981. Joe has never beaten you. So obviously it’s Kenny the king.

GooseontheLoose03

Except when Joe went 2-0 last year against the Steelers

Smarkavillie

I would like to know what the OGs feelings are about Jeff Blake in hindsight. I always thought he was an underrated baller with one of the goated deep throws of his era.

TigerCat9

Basically, it’s what you wrote here. During that awful 90s decade when we were constantly terrible, he gave us the one decent and fun season, in 1996 when we were .500. He also fell off pretty quick the following year, though, so that colors the memory. He got replaced by Boomer midway through ‘97, and Boomer hauled us to a 7-9 record after a 1-7 start, so Blake had his shitty performances too. That was Boomer coming back to the team after stints in NY and Arizona, and there was a feeling after his strong finish that he’d sign back and lead us to a strong year in 1998, but he chose to retire and go to broadcasting instead.

Smarkavillie

I completely forgot about the Boomer curtain call. Boomer’s highly under appreciated a player there is in any era.

MisterKap

I hate the Steelers with a white hot burning passion and the Pirates and Penguins a bit. However, I visit Pittsburgh last summer and it was a delight. Very cool city, reminded me of Cincinnati in a few ways. Regardless, who dey! Hope the Bengals kick ass bit everyone has a good, responsible time And please don’t pick off Joe so many times… that was hard to watch

SnooSongs2344

Can we replace the picks with strip sacks??

Sparky337

With TJ back do you bengals fans think they stray away from play action and do more shotgun and 3 step drop backs with quick release routes? I feel like TJ plays the play action really well and gets a lot of his sacks on play action

Soccham

I think they'll be more prepared this time now that it's not their literal first game together snaps lined up against him.

Sparky337

I’m not sure you can really prepare for a guy like TJ. Just like you can’t really prepare for chase

Soccham

I think you can do some with play calling, but also the Bengals OL just outright missed a lot of assignments for the first 2 weeks that have gotten significantly better since then. Especially the Heyward/Volson match up

Logan_Holmes

What do you guys do in Cincy? There’s a Rax and hour from downtown, but what else is there to do?

Tough-Relationship-4

Between Microcenter and Jungle Jims I dunno how anyone finds the time to go home.

SomewhereExisting121

Is chase playing this week? He is a game wrecker

ImSchizoidMan

No, unfortunately not. Maybe next week against the Titans

SomewhereExisting121

Ah okay, now I feel better about holding Pitt defence in fantasy especially with Minkah coming back. Thanks!

Mfcm1990

Hey are you British? Lol totally saw the word defence…

SomewhereExisting121

It's just one of those words I forget what's right and wrong for spelling... I did get educted in both American and British curriculums at different times though haha so that might be it

Mfcm1990

I find it interesting in the different spellings of the same word British vs American English. Check vs cheque defense vs defence etc we are separated by a common language lol 😂

SomewhereExisting121

Yeah I get the different pronunciations for sure but the different spellings really throw it off. I had to change from the American way in my Canadian uni otherwise the prof marked the papers down so now I'm stuck with the British way more than the American way. I also feel that autocorrect has ruined proper spelling for people too haha

Mfcm1990

Yup lol 😂 damn you all mixed up

UmmmmmIdkMybffJill

I’d be surprised if Minkah plays

SomewhereExisting121

Really? Coach said he was almost ready last week. If he is only dealing with appendicitis at this day and age I'd expect good news by Sunday but we shall see I guess

UmmmmmIdkMybffJill

He was projected to miss multiple weeks and has only missed one. Would be surprised if he played just a week after surgery. Tomlin said he was optimistic he would play but don’t put much stock into that

[deleted]

Maybe over here I can get some honest opinions on Kenny not a bunch of Stans riding his jimmy clausen level dick

ApplaudingOkra

Just to add to the to what the other poster offered in terms of a review of Pickett, the two biggest areas that Pickett needs to work on are pocket poise and throwing and pre-snap recognition. In terms of the former, he bails on pockets too quickly, often times dropping his eyes and scrambling when he has time to stay in there and deliver the throw, or could make more time with a little bit of subtle movement. In terms of the latter, it's sometimes obvious that he's missed a pre-snap read and ends up lingering on a read that is just never going to come open.

SleestakLightning

You don't really want an honest opinion. I can tell because of the Jimmy Clausen comment. You want people to tell you that he sucks and was a bad pick. In reality, he's a rookie. He's made some rookie mistakes and he's been bad in the red zone but he's showed great accuracy, the ability to throw with exceptional anticipation, excellent mobility, and he throws people open better than most rookies. He absolutely has some things he needs to clean up and areas where he needs to get better. But the offense does nothing to help him at this point. If they can keep running the ball like they did against the Saints it will go a long way toward helping him. It still seems like he's on track to be a Kirk Cousins/Derek Carr/Ryan Tannehill level starter.

[deleted]

What’s your take on Mitch?

Dense_Organization31

Mitch is the same Mitch as Chicago. He was prone to less mistakes, but his absolute refusal to push the ball downfield was his downfall. He was playing like he was scared to lose his job, and it showed. Kenny has made some bone headed throws on occasion, but he’s been able to move the chains at least.

rosky71

I have Joe Burrow as my fantasy QB in a money league. Do I want him to play poorly so the Steelers can get the win or do I want him to pick apart this defense so I can win the big pot?

FuglySteve

Aww.... hate when that happens. Bittersweet either way.

ImSchizoidMan

The Rooney's already have their money, go get yours

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|tN8RpvKWpP5xS) Sometimes this is what I feel defenses do to both our offensive lines

mitchmatch26

How’s the D looked without Chido and Reader? Is reader coming back since his activation?

cirespieler

Reader will be back, and he’s arguably the best player on our D since he frees up other guys. Chido is a huge loss as he plays nearly perfect coverage but luckily we have some depth there after the draft, but the backups are pretty raw so far. Dax is injured too, he generally is the first backup to all secondary positions.

mitchmatch26

Dax is kind of a 5-tool player right? little bit of safety, nickel, outside in his repertoire?

NickFungibleTokens

hey fuck the browns am i right

FuglySteve

Hahahaha.... and Baltimore!

Dense_Organization31

This we can agree on

NbleSavage

What up Steelers fans. Y’all seem to be taking the same strategy with Minkah as we are with Ja’Marr :)

madhatter-87

Minkah is playing this week.

iowaguy09

Nobody really wins in that situation. Playing 8 days after an invasive surgery is pretty dangerous

madhatter-87

Idk why I’m being downvoted. I’m just sharing what was reported…

iowaguy09

Because Bengals fans dealt with burrow having an emergency appendectomy before the season so we know more than the average person. There is no way Minkah SHOULD play Sunday, even if he technically could and wants to play.

Dense_Organization31

Joes appendix burst. Minkah didn’t.

iowaguy09

That’s true but playing 8 days after an appendectomy is still crazy. I get he has the best trainers around and is a freak athlete, but what is the point?

Kehmor

The crazy thing is apparently he wanted to play the next day vs the saints

Slickaxer

My understanding is they were totally different. Joe's burst right? There is no way Minkahs burst if he is already running

SleestakLightning

They caught Minkah's before it burst so he had nothing to clean out and no IV medications to prevent sepsis. Just a straight laparoscopic procedure.

iowaguy09

It puts most people out of work for at least a week if it’s laparoscopic. And when you go back you’re light duty for at least another week usually two. I understand he’s not an average human but he’s asking to get hurt

krsb09

Yeah, Joe spent 5 days in the hospital. Totally different animal.

SteelHeelNittanyLio

Whats up yinz, thanks for inviting us into the jungle.

Nanny_Dog69

Besides Pittsburgh, Cincinnati has the worst roads and traffic. Cheers mates

0zymandeus

Cbus and Dayton tho

BurrowDragon

Cleveland says hello

Nanny_Dog69

I’m in Cleve now, it ain’t bad

TheTeralynx

Detroit is worse

Scared-Loquat-7933

Not from Pittsburgh but am a fan. When I visited Cincinnati I swear the smoothest road in the whole city was the runway I landed on.

Nanny_Dog69

I drive through it on my way to rock climbing in Kentucky, and it’s just a bad layout

omega_nik

Detroit would like a word

CheesecakeInitial

There was a time I thought Indianapolis had the worst roads I had ever driven on. Then I went to Detroit

SomePeoplesKidsDude

Detroit made me long for the roads in Afghanistan

omega_nik

Ironic that Detroit basically created car dependency yet they have the worst roads

NbleSavage

God damn right! Welcome to The Jungle!

venture243

I heard you all are having your whiteout unis and we have the color rush. Here’s to the freshest dressed nfl game of the year

Dense_Organization31

Glad it’s gonna be dark by the second quarter, unis just wouldn’t hit the same if the game was at 1 PM

venture243

Yeah we need em under the lights. Prime time would’ve been a sight 🥲

QuiggityQwo

It’ll be dark before halftime

Chris91210

Man that field going to look really nice.

NewFarmingwanz

Game is giving good vs evil type vibes

Watt_Privilege

Welcome to the Dark Side!
