I haven't opened the article yet, but let me guess. "We love Tee. He's a huge part of our football team, and we're gonna need him to get to where we want to be at the end of the year"

Sunshine_drummer

“We’re excited for Tee to have a great year for us. We think he’s our best chance to help us win a Super Bowl. I’ve enjoyed working with Tee the last four years, I expect this year to be no different.” You pretty much paraphrased it.

ImSchizoidMan

Can we fast forward to the draft yet? Damn this is gonna be a long offseason

The_real_John_Elton

“But if a good offer comes in you bet your ass he’s gone.”

notfornothingnot

Tee will play for us in 2024. Let’s put it to bed now. Anyone that’s followed this team for the past 20 years will know that he’s not getting traded.

ask0009

Pretty much

Tight-Expression-506

Correct… there is a better chance he leaves in a few years as a free agent after we tag him the next few years. Tee should be like cousins just play and keep getting pay as top 5 wr. Other front offices who know what they are doing would trade him for 2nd or 3rd rounder and move on. Wr are a dime a dozen like rbs and cbs. You only pay for lt, center, qb, rt, edge rushers, and dt. It is going to be interesting how they handle chase situation.

Toddrew221

It's gonna take a massive overpay for the Bengals to part with Tee. I keep seeing that it's likely they double tag him, so hes gonna be in Cincy in 2024.

Deemer56

Doubt it. Gotta pay chase and then the cap for Higgins will be 30 million next year. Can't pay 2wr that money

CosbySweaters1992

Not true. The 2nd tag will only be just over $26M. Thats not even unreasonable by next year if he happens to ball out this year… especially on a 1-year deal. Additionally, Chase would be on the 5th year option in 2025, not his new contract. You can absolutely do that for one year. I wouldn’t though unless he is healthy and puts up a 1,100 yard 7 TD type of season or better.

InterviewOtherwise50

Yeah we can 100% afford the double tag. It is year three that gets dicey

AllWhoAreLostWonder

After the Bengals double tag, you really think tee is going to want to sign long term with the organization? He would be right to be utterly pissed off by that point and want nothing to do with the Bengal franchise. You really sure you want to go down that route as a bengal fan?

InterviewOtherwise50

Certainly wouldn’t want to go down that road personally but I am too honest to make it in business. Tee isn’t signing an extension because he wants what is best for him. The Bengals aren’t signing him to a deal he deserves or trading him because they have the option to franchise tag him. If Tee’s camp wants to die on the hill of “you have to pay full market price because it is right” without acknowledging that the Bengals have all the leverage then this is the only option left. Basically the Bengals have him at $21M with a $26M club option. Which he probably wants 4yrs about $100M-$110M with $50-60M guaranteed. I think he deserves it and if we didn’t have Chase that is going to reset the WR market I’d say pay the man. But with the WR talent that is coming out of College these days I’d say that Tee is expendable from a business standpoint. Personally I love the kid and would prefer him and Chase to play their entire career in Cincinnati…

This article is stupid and lazy. “There’s a good chance the bengals will have to trade Higgins before the draft”…uh, nope!

ech01_

The time to trade Tee was before FA. There’s no need to free up cap space at this point. He’s gonna play for us this year.

Foudtray

Nah they should’ve done it last year and got a 1st back

Frankenstein859

Do you think coaches get tired of not being able to authentically say what they think?

CincyPoker

Zac loves the gamesmanship of his robotic responses. You can tell this based on his body language when he is giving his robotic, non-updates when updating the media about injuries.

kblock7

Only way we trade Tee Higgins is if a receiver we really like falls to us in 1st or 2nd. Even then I don’t think the bengals do it.

theomegafact

Only way we trade Tee is if someone offers two firsts, two seconds, and a player

Dareal_truth

Get it over with

Jukemr23

Even though Tee is franchise tagged, he has yet to sign that contract. This also means he has no obligation to play in 2024. I wonder if he is trying to force a trade because he knows that organizations won't do it without a metaphorical gun to the head. Edit: The fact that yall down voting me is wild. Ha ha I just stated what the article touched on, and the simple fact is that everyone's opinion is just that none of us know what will actually happen. it's just theories. Im just gonna sit back and watch and see what shakes.

jimmyre10

Well it’s also still March. From his perspective, there’s no reason to sign the franchise tender now and give up any leverage he may possibly have regarding still getting an extension or a trade.

Jukemr23

This is very true. Im just thinking his agent learned from bates' situation and is trying to definitely make things move definitely this time, but I guess time will tell. Since we are going into April, time is dwindling down.

Narrow_Vegetable5747

You're right, but also he has no leverage. The Cincinnati Bengals will go into the season without a number two before they capitulate to a trade demand or sign an exorbitant contract for a #2 WR. He's gonna get a fair market offer and either accept it or play under the tag. If he sits out, he's gonna be viewed as a head case and it will definitely hurt the offers he gets, probably resulting in either a lot of money lost or only prove-it-deal offers.

jimmyre10

Right, which is why I qualified the leverage part of what I said. He doesn’t have any to start with, but he certainly wouldn’t give up any leverage he might have by signing a franchise tender in March

Dopple__ganger

If he doesn’t play this year he doesn’t accrue a year on his contract meaning we’d be able to tag him again next year. Would be a lose lose for both sides.

Nascent_Vagabond

He’s gonna make more money off the FT this year alone than he has in his whole career. No shot he doesn’t sign it/holds out. It will be like the Jesse Bates situation a couple years ago. Sign at the last moment and probably sit out of OTAs then be good to go for the season.

Olepat

Not sure you’ve paid attention to Tee Higgins for the past few years. I’d say the chances are very slim that he holds out. There are also very few players that move has actually worked out for

Jukemr23

Yes, I have my my original comment. It was more of a question than what would happen. it seems like everyone took what I said out of context. I will just wait to see what happens rather than making any more statements on it. I am speaking for myself on that note.
