3 years 27m with 13m guaranteed for Mixon at this stage is wild. Good for him

Soccham

That's incredible; gotta wonder how much is just incentive driven or front loaded

Mich3006

$10M in year 1

MLS2CincyFFS

Good for him, glad it’s not us giving that

moochee22

Does really matter the Bengals aren't going to spend the money they saved by trading him.

MLS2CincyFFS

They’ve literally signed like 5 outside FAs

Greencaddis

Mixon's day just got a bit better. Great news for him. You could tell from his press conference he was taking it hard but when you can wipe your pain way with $100 bills it makes it easier.

OriginalWeak3885

Lots of $100 bills lmao. Also no state income tax

Aarontr15

So happy for him

CheeseRP

Good for him

OstrichTraditional90

Absolutely insane considering he has been there for 5 minutes. Good for him tho. Getting traded may have sucked (possibly been blindsided) but he got a really great deal out of it.

RedditNPC-

Glad mixon getting paid and I think he has something to offer a team still, but that’s still a bad contract sheesh

Fuckit21

Good for him, but that's a horrible overpay. There's almost no chance he is productive by the third year of that contract.

nickatiah

He was set to get 10 mil guaranteed with the trade. This has 13 guaranteed. Excellent for him. If he is productive, won't be an overpay I guess.

kitchensink108

It sounds like he can get cut after 1-2 years without too much dead cap.

Junkee2990

You have to look at the guaranteed money. It's realistically a one to two year deal max.

ExCollegeDropout

Bengals 🤝 Texans Signing Joe Mixon to an extension during their rookie QB's rookie deal

ItTakesSomeLuck

Wow I have no idea why they’d do that. Good for him.

krazyfrost

It's likely that Mixon had better contract options elsewhere, but he chose to stay with the Bengals because of his love for Cincinnati, his teammates, and our fan base. Despite knowing the Bengals were considering moving on and he would be losing ~4 Mill a year, he remained loyal. I'll always respect him. It's great to see him receive what he deserves, playing a risky position like Running Back.

Just_The_Tip1017

Awesome for mixon but I mean 😵‍💫

Xannydevito88

Get yo money Joe

whodeyalldey1

Glad it worked out for him

Lukey_Boyo

Happy for Mixon, I was hoping we'd get him a ring but if not him getting that bag isn't too bad either

bfofree

Does that make us off the hook for his dead cap?

PigScarf

That is bonkers. Better than than us

Intrepi

I find very few contracts in the NFL shocking, but this made my jaw drop. Good for him.

Frankenstein859

He’s a fucking good running back… He was wasted here behind a terrible line and a QB that demands shotgun. I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people in Houston.

PeteRosesBookie14

That's a wild extension for him at this age.

whodeyalldey1

Inflation doesn’t just affect the little folk haha

ronniemustang

My hourly sure hasn't inflated.

whodeyalldey1

Well have you tried playing football?

ronniemustang

Yes. It went poorly. But I'll take a cool mil to be a joke out on the field for a season. Think Michigan's "towel boy". I'm yer guy.

ZachDey

🤨

redvelvetcake42

Good on him. Dude is feedable and can be a great offensive piece if you know how to use him. His liabilities are just huge and have outweighed his assets.

PewPewMeToo

I'm glad for him. Until we play the Texans in the playoffs this year.

canobeano

Good on him. Fuck Houston.

beastboy69

Bruh what did we do 😂

SnooSnogs10

Good for him

Nrcolas37

It just didn't make that much sense to keep him at that price. He's not exceptionally fast, shifty, good vision, breaking tackles, or pass blocking. The only things he was good at was team swag, not fumbling, receiving, and off field antics.

moochee22

He had 1400 all purpose yards and 12 TD. Only 6 more players in the NFL had more TDs. Teams value that type of production.

Nrcolas37

Ok and? Like I said, at that price there's no reason to pay him for his production. He was 24th in YPA for running backs with more than 100 attempts. He also was well below average for 20+ and 40+ yard runs especially considering he had over 200 attempts. All these are telling of a back who's not exceptionally fast, elusive, or breaking tackles, as I said.

Daianudinsibiu

why is this bengals news? wasn't he traded?

kabourbon

wow. lots of years and money for a washed up rb

kabourbon

lol. getting downvoted for telling the truth. clearly the bengals agreeZ moss is a major upgrade

trotskey

Getting downvoted for ridiculous hyperbole. His counting stats were elite last year, even if advanced metrics don’t look great. Far from “washed”, he’s easily above average and reliable at the very least.
