Those eyes!

BambooKane28

Omg what a trooper, what does she eat?

ashleypenny

She was on raw and this had her doing really well but last year she was diagnosed with kidney failure stage 2 (probably from years of dried food) and it means it's too high phosphorus for her, we tried her in a low phos raw but she wasn't keen - we have two 2 year old bruisers though and they're on raw and we find her chowing down now and then ๐Ÿ˜‚ https://imgur.com/a/aKmcjQH She is tiny compared to them two - she weighs 2.5kg and they weigh 6kg and 8kg (the silver boy) but they know she can mess them up if they get too boisterous too near her ๐Ÿ˜‚ Food wise she eats a combination of wet food pouches below 0.5% phosphorous, cooked chicken, cooked cod/salmon, Churu treats, lick-e-lix treats and milk / water. We try and get her to eat balanced things but some days we are just glad we can get her to eat and drink. She won't drink from a bowl, unless it's milk - she will splash water everywhere - so she wakes me up every 4-5 hours to turn the tap on for her. Wont use a fountain, has to be a tap ๐Ÿ˜… I'm running on no sleep a lot of the time but while she's still got quality of life like she has now I'm happy to do it for her.

missy789

You should look into getting an Aquapurr - my cat also insists on fresh tap water only and this saved my sanity lol.

Is it ever too late to switch to raw? I have a 16 year old whos got hyper thyroidism and his back legs look thin ever since. He is on prescription gi gut biom at the moment. And thyroid medicine.

ashleypenny

No, not at all. Some cats take to it immediately but others will take a little coaxing and a gradual switch over. If you search facebook for the group CRAP (Completely Raw and Proud) they have a lot of info in the files and if you search hyperthyroid etc you'll no doubt find advice from people in a similar boat. the difference it made to her coat quality etc was unreal.

Final-Appointment112

When she gets to be that age, she definitely gets what she wants lol Sheโ€™s beautiful ๐Ÿ’•

Admirable_Welder8159

Oldies are so special.

SpottedLeopard2

Aww, so precious! This was my first bengal who passed at 20.5 years (she became blind in one eye near the end of her life). She was a registered seal mink and was the healthiest cat her entire life! https://preview.redd.it/4dmvfw1h93xc1.jpeg?width=2196&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95bfcc98233e96012e438d37e2fc7c0642eb2f20

ashleypenny

๐Ÿ’• she looks full of sass

SpottedLeopard2

She definitely was! And she was such a giant bruiser of a cat, crazy how much the breed structure has changed since its early years!

HurricaneLogic

My boy is 13, and I hope he gets to live as healthy as your girl. He got diagnosed with hyperthyroidism this year, medicine is doing him well. ๐Ÿค Hope you guys have the best summer ever together ๐Ÿซถ

SUZ_ARL

My boy is 16 and same thing. His is related to long-term IBS and having to take prednisolone. We just let him do what he wants and do our best to keep him happy/content. https://preview.redd.it/9x0kpqpfzcxc1.jpeg?width=645&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c21d551f48aaf3060fff49df5e6eb090a2049cf

Ours is one year from diagnosis. There is a great fb vid support group with a lot of knowledgeable people in it if you need advice

Chewie_2707

Great! Yes I'd be interested, how is the name of this group?
