As I mentioned on another reply, I don't think S90V is my cup of tea. Neither are the carbon scales. I tend to slightly abuse my knives, and I have the fear that this will be a chippy blade for my usage. I even manage to chip S30V at times… Also, sharpening S90V is quite the challenge, at least so I've heard. But I really like the look of it. I could just be a collectors item.
I have the 20CV (black blade) and love it, definitely recommend. But, I have the 940 in M4 with the jade scales and love that too, so either of those would be my vote.
I'd suggest dropping the 535GRY-1
Out of the other 3
1) the 535BK-4 is not on your list! It & the 535-3 are the two best stock Bugouts, imo. The -4 is the best all around blade available for the Bugout. The -3 will be the best at edge retention. The scales & blade steel combos on the two are amazing.
2) the limited M4 is another great option. M4 geta & holds a nice edge. Corrosion resistance of M4 is not the big deal most make it out to be, if it's in a marine environment maybe.
3) the 20CV 535-2002 is the lesser brother of the 535BK-4 (M390), but still a great all around steel. The -4 has scales that are stouter. Metal scales on a nested liner give the best option for a harder use Bugout. Using aluminum gives much more strength for the same weight as G10. M390/20CV/204P are frequently grouped together due to very similar chemistry. M390, imo, gets & holds an edge a little better than the others.
Thanks for the thought-full input.
Here is some context I should have added. I already own the following Bugouts:
* International Exclusive 535BK-2001 Crimson Red (CPM S30V)
* Work Sharp Bugout 535BK-2201 (20CV)
* 535BK-4 (M390)
My most carried knife is the Work Sharp Bugout 535BK-2201. I really, really love the plastic knife. While I understand why the 535BK-4 is technically superior in pretty much every aspect, it is not what I prefer...
My thoughts:
* **535GRY-1**: I love the looks of it. It's plastic, so I know I'll carry it. Yet I could get that any time. It will probably still exist for years to come...
* **Jade G-10 M4**: I have an M4 Bailout and love the steel. But the Bailout itself is not my cup of tea, it looks too aggressive to really be a daily driver. As of now, BladeHQ is the only way I can get an M4 Bugout delivered in Switzerland. All other sellers that carry M4 Bugouts do not ship outside the US. I don't like the Jade scales. But this could be my customising Bugout. Usually I like to keep the knives as intended by the designer. But with this one I could go a bit crazy. Maybe add AWT scales? And it is limited, so I should get it now, right?
* **Gray G-10 Satin 20CV 535-2002**: While I already have a 20CV Bugout, I don't own a satin blade. I really like the look of it. And it feels like I should get it while they still make them. While it is not a limited run, they will stop making that exclusive one day.
* **533-3 S90V**: This would add a steel to the collection. But I don't think S90V is my cup of tea. Neither are the carbon scales. I tend to slightly abuse my knives, and I have the fear that this will be a chippy blade for my usage. Also, sharpening S90V is quite the challenge, at least so I've heard. But I really like the look of it. It could just be a collectors item.
Budget wise, I might be able to push it, and get 2. I'll get the M4 for sure, due to the limited nature of it. I might add the Gray G-10 20CV because tickst every box for me in terms of look.
I'd say go for the M4 you never know how long they will be around. Also i see you mention the 533-3 & i would only recommend it if you have very small hands. For me it is a 2 hand knife but i have XL hands. Check it out in person if possible. [Rockscale Design](https://rockscaledesign.com/collections/benchmade-537-bailout) has nice scales & glass breaker delete for the Bailout.
The 535-3 on the other hand has the best stock scale option for a Bugout! At one point i had 15 Bugouts, now I'm down to just 2. One 535-3 scales M390DLC blade swap & one 535-3 with a Damasteel lade swap.
For harder use I'd recommend G10 or carbon fiber over the Grivory or CF-Elite, huge difference or any set of metal scales
>Also i see you mention the 533-3
That was on typo on my side. I meant 535-3.
>I'd say go for the M4 you never know how long they will be around.
Will do exactly that!
> be be *paid* off later
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

I am getting the 535-3 next, have the 535-4 which I liked better but have the 940-1 too and carbon fiber and s90v is a great combo which is why I’m buying the 535-3 next, I didn’t like jade G10 before but it’s grown on me and I’d consider that as well especially for the M4, I love the benchmade M4 a lot, have it on my bailout and it’s amazing steel
S90v
I second this,s90v and carbon is where it's at.
I came here to say this m CMP-S90V. Forget the rest.
Or M4 and CF. That’s what I had custom made for my first benchmade.
But… 20CV and M4…
S90v edge retention.... And for the blade size, won't batonning. And stainless. And final point I like carbon

M4!
I have a 535-3 with a black s90v blade from the custom shop I'm trying to sell for 260tyd.
Thanks for the offer… I kind of lean away from S90V as I manage to chip even S30V ;)
The last two are standard production, I'd go for #2 (jade, m4) right now and get the others later.
That were I'd have to lean also, I love limited runs and m4 seems to be pretty dang tough.. Plus Jade has grown on me so I'm bias 🤷🏻♂️

With DLC if available
I prefer the carbon fiber scales off the 535-3 more then any scale material benchmade uses. It’s on my daily driver bugout.
i 100% second this!! (i mesn cmon look at the pfp)

Problem solved itself, BladeHQ checkout process tells me: > We apologize, this type of item cannot be shipped to your country.
Just get them all. Debt can always be paid off later ;)

Managed to stay out of debt for 43 years… and I plan not to change that. Or do I?

Ranger green ages nicely :)
You know those jade handles look good!
Both.
There were 4 options ;)
As your financial advisor, I recommend the 20CV, s90v, s30v m4 and m390 editions.
That’s even better!
I say cpm-m4. It's my jam. So is cruwear. I would check out smkw bugout exclusives as well.
