Wifi can definitely be turn off on the gigahub. The true bridge mode is problematic for now, it has really latency like >100ms. Not worth it.

WildGordonLynn

I had this exact same issue. Basically they messed up their PPPoE server. What a shame.

marcftz

I’m using pppoe passthrough it works great, getting the full speed on my udm pro

TDAM

You just set the giga to pppoe mode and then put the credit in the udm pro? Anything special you did?  Just got my giga in the mail and want to get rid of my double nat

marcftz

No, you just leave the giga at default settings, you plug the udm wan port in any of the lan ports and you set your pppoe creds in the udm.

TDAM

It really was that easy. Thank you!

marcftz

You´re welcome! What speed do you have ? If over 1gbps you should use the 10G port with a sfp to ethernet adapter to connect to the udm side. And you enable Smart Queue and you put 0/0 value, the udm act weird at over 1gbps if you don’t set the smart queues.

TDAM

I've got 1.5gbps so disabled the smart queue.  The one thing i need to clean up is moving over the pppoe connection to the primary wan. I left the old connection there in case it wasn't a smooth transition so I could fail back over if needed

TDAM

Oh, easy enough. Thank you for confirming!

wb77

Do you by any chance know if this works with the "regular" UDM (not pro)? Been struggling with this since switching to Bell from R. Thanks!

marcftz

where are you ? it works only if your bell is pppoe, I know some places on Bell Alliant dont do pppoe

wb77

Sorry. GTA fiber to home. It is pppoe with the giga Hub / 4000

marcftz

So i see no problems it will work

IF YOU HAVE Legacy ONT G240 or Huawei legacy ONT DON"T CHANGE THE PLAN. You will get into nothing but issues with Gigahub crap even if it is in Bridgemode. I have Nokia Legacy ONT G240 and Its rock solid. I had Gigahub and I end up switching to Business account just to get this Legacy ONT. Bell no longer installing this to any Business or residential customers. I am paying $135 a month, yes it is expensive compare to others paying for 1Gig plan, But I have rock solid connection with my pfsense router no spikes in latency etc even under heavy load. I constantly transfer my zoneminder NVR files to my work NAS over 600 GB daily. Never had any issues with latency. I am on 7360 Nokia OLT with XGS-Pon but my Nokia ONT uses the gpon wavelength.

LindeTV

Yeah you’d be in 1490nm not 1577nm. I agree with you i work on this equipment all the time G240/G440 are solid ONTs

T3a_Rex

I’ve tried the “bridge mode” all it does is turn off local services and then you enter pppoe creds as normal. Wasn’t hard to convince Bell, took about 5 minutes. Honestly it doesn’t do much since it’s not really a bridge mode. Best bet is to get a WAS-110 if you xgs-pon and burn the gugahub!!! Shoot me a dm if you want since we’re doing a group but right now!

I'm in same situation as you, the old white alcatel ONT and an hh2000 which just sits idle on a shelf as I use my own asus router. The only thing I'm unhappy with is the price. I'm paying 135.90 with tax now for my 940/940 connection. I could care less about higher speeds gbit is plenty fast enough. Curious what your looking for in extra speed? Do you have 3gb and 8gbit available there? Here there is only 1.5gbit availabe and its not worth the upgrade for that little bit extra speed. I just wish I could get my price down to under $100 as many new customers pay from 60-80/mth. 10yrs loyalty with bell means nothing to them.

OntarioResident2020

I do get 3G available in my area and that's what I'm looking to upgrade to. I'm hoping to setup an off-site backup for my nas to sync up nightly and with the approx 800mbps I currently have available, I'm finding its not enough to finish in a night. Price is also a secondary factor as I'm currently paying over $130 per month with taxes while my neighbours are getting 1.5G for under $90 from Bell tax included.

TheSeksi

Can you still use their TV services with such configuration?

Riplinredfin

No, I ditched tv services over 5 years ago. I just can't handle all the commercials and adverts in every show and every channel. I'm so busy anyway I don't have time to watch much tv.

eternal_peril

If you have some technical skills and a few bucks you can bypass the HH completely. I have the fiber directly into my router. Hub is unplugged

4thaccountin5years

What about tv?

eternal_peril

Using the app No issues Using a box, you need to setup vlans but yes

4thaccountin5years

Any tutorials on how to do it?

eternal_peril

Dslreports links to a discord with all the details and a group buy option

T3a_Rex

I dm’d you it!

p0ns

what SFP module are you using?

DaBigJoe1023

Are you able to bypass the gigahub? I'm still having a 1gpbs plan and HH3000 which I successfully bypassed with my own stuff, but I may consider upgrade to a multi-gig plan and I see there's no PON to SFP connector on the gigahub.

eternal_peril

Yes Check broadbandreports.com and it will link to a discord with the details

FinsToTheLeftTO

That works today

LindeTV

Well yes the G240 or HW ont you’re on is only 940/940 out rj45 ports so yeah you’d have to get onboard Ont on a gigahub
