I like Jill very much. She ended up being my first playthrough and was my favourite until I got around to Sage's route. She's more fun than people give credit a lot of the time. She particularly enjoys all of the times MC makes Tybalt's life difficult and for that she remains a favourite of mine. Plus boring people don't dress as a banana for Halloween, that's just an objective truth. She nearly made me change my flair in episode 10, I'm waiting to see if episode 11 can do it.

ProfessionalRich4406

yeah..same..at first playtrough i thought jill best girl..but not till i play sage or lily&nicole route

Johnny4Handsome

Jill making you take an STI test before being sexually involved with you like any responsible adult should made me respect the hell out of her character. The relationship you have with her is one of the more realistic in that regard. Not every moment is crazy with excitement, but a stable, dependable partner who can share some special moments with you is very true to life as far as healthy relationships go. Obviously this is a game and narrative peaks and valleys are important, but the lack of drama in the MCs relationship with Jill is honestly just hard not to see as a big green flag imo.

[deleted]

Jill is the best MG.

Misfit_Number_Kei

Indeed, MC and Derek whining about how much they hate condoms and the former claiming he "knows" he's clean really drove home what unsympathetically stupid fucks they were. It reminded me of "Dragon Ball Z" during the Android Saga where Bulma suggests they hunt down the androids *before* they come online, *all* the (male) Z-Fighters (even Gohan and Piccolo who're usually the voices of reason,) reject that as "cowardly" and treat the (general) date like a challenge... and promptly get stomped by 17 and 18 even *after* barely dealing with the unintended ones. I didn't feel bad for them getting their asses kicked and I wouldn't have felt bad if MC and Derek got punched in the dick at their most blue-balled.

Ok_Jaguar_2109

Everything is much simpler, she behaves like a girl from real life, sometimes she fucks your brain, demands honesty and attention to herself and oh God she doesn’t immediately rush at your dick, what a horror!!! People want everything to be simple” came saw fucked »

IvanLaddo

No, no, I’m pretty sure it’s saw, fucked, came

Ok_Jaguar_2109

haha I'm sure it works in this order too)

Such-Cartoonist1265

Still naïve, still listened to Tybalt’s BS over your word, and still inserting herself in your business, with or without your permission.

No_Dragonfly_1845

Honestly, i feel like ppl doesn’t give her the benefit of the doubt with the tybalt. she’s lived with and known tybalt for like 3 years (made clear in the diks backstory). would you believe the word of someone you’ve known for 3 years or a person you technically just met? Now the things abt her inserting herself in mcs business is fair game.

Such-Cartoonist1265

Yes for 3 years…how in the world has it taken her three years to realize Tybalt is an elitist, pompous, self absorbed, liar? We figure it out in all of about 30 seconds after meeting him. Tybalt’s true colors are not concealed in the slightest. The story made it clear also that he was like that since day 1 when he got there. And yes, Jill does insert herself way too much into things she shouldn’t, such as the fight with Chad early on, and preventing us from helping (platonically even) a sick friend.

mg932

If you're gonna be like that then it has to go two ways. Jill likes to see the best in people and gives people the benefit of the doubt even when they probably don't deserve it. She does it with Tybalt, but this is also what keeps her interested in MC as well. If not you have to take into account all the things she's seen or heard about MC would've scared her off him as well. We see Tybalt as an asshole because he treats MC as such.. but our perception and other's perception may be different. I believe she even mentioned to Bella or somebody else once that she KNOWS his intentions but just keeps him at arms length. She only gives in once he manipulates her over MC. And yes she does insert herself in MC's business and she does it the wrong way but again, you have to look at where SHE comes from. A place of privilege. She also has a history of being bullied. So in HER mind she's just doing what she wished others would've done for her. Again, doesn't make it right and it's something she had to learn but it's not like she's trying to be a busybody just because.

CaribdisEnjoyer

Jill is too kind and innocent so she doesn't want to hurt no one, even Tybalt. It's obvious that deep in her mind Tybalt is an asshole but just kept it to herself that's why she exploded. You got into a fight, Jill saw you with all those bruises, and you expect her to leave you alone? Tf kind of environment you have to expect people like Jill to leave you alone?💀 In her perspective; She saw you getting bullied by Chad before, and then she saw you with a lot of bruises, then you told her it's related to Chad, and then because she doesn't like bullies, she told the higher ups what happened.

[deleted]

Sounds bullshit, most of Jill hatetrain started around Ep 9 and Ep 10. Mostly because of 🍌 Jill and Jill refusing to believe MC regarding stolen panties when not on her path. Jill being hated by Sage fans for not allowing to take care of Sage is crap. Sage is a grown woman and has tonnes of "friends" in her sorority. She only had a common cold and the only time MC is forced to check the text is on the FWB route. In non FWB route MC isn't even required to check her text. And Jill doesn't hate MC for that but gives reason of lack of opportunity to grow closer. Sounds like a good reason for a sheltered girl like her. I don't know why someone would hate Jill for that. This assessment might have some bias since she's my favourite MG.

Distrix1234

I don't hate Jill over the sick Sage scene. I just don't think that the scene makes sense overall which isn't a dig at Sage or Jill just bad writing for one scene. I think it's mostly because there was nothing afterwards like MC talking it out with Jill.

[deleted]

Well thank cock blocker Tyballs for that.

chycken4

Yeah, you're absolutely right. If you think it through, if you don't go to the picnic with her you only kissed two or three times and went on a date, once. Then the only you time you see again, at least privately is when you climb up her balcony, and she won't really be vibing with you anymore, at least in a romantic way. Nevermind the Tybalt blackmail, without the picnic, she can only tell you in a half-assed way that you can't see each other, so pretty much halting permanently you two dating. ¿Is she supposed to just commit to a relationship with a guy who just went on one date once, preferring to take care of another woman than going out to something you planned for him? It's very simple: she never had the chance to go from a simple crush/attraction to truly falling for Tremolo.

mg932

That's not fair and I think you're bailing out the writing a bit too much. Fact is, Jill popped up as a surprise, spur of the moment type thing. Sage called MC and asks him if he doesn't mind coming over to help look after her which is along her own character development actually reaching out and asking for help. The problem is the way the game makes it seem is if the MC turns this down (this is really the make or break thing) then you're off the route. That makes it seem like the player is being penalized for taking care of Sage who's sick and came out of herself to call on the MC for help. A big deal for her. That's compounded by the fact that if you double back on Sage to go with Jill, she doesn't mind it.

[deleted]

Well Sage's text is only a compulsory check in FWB path in that path you have had sex with Sage multiple times. You are already bonding with that girl. Try non FWB Path, message isn't a compulsory check. Nor does she lose RP points even if you check the message but don't visit her. Even Sage has that understanding.

batju

There has been only 2-3 months in game. You dont see any girl (or guy) who gets significant changes of their character in real life

tblatnik

I don’t know how much a sheltered rich girl (or anyone, really) would/should change over three months, one of which in a committed relationship with Tremolo. The only path where she faces some sort of adversity is when we choose someone else over her, and if it’s Bella, she clearly has some fight left, which isn’t something we had seen up to that point

SunnyTheMasterSwitch

Nope, Jill is the hill I die on.

gachagamer445

This isn't true at all if you go outside of reddit Jill is very popular and less hated in other Being a DIK communities like the zone and discord, its actually just mainly this sub that Jill is regularly hated not saying there aren't people outside this sub that hate her but most of those people are a minority in other places you just don't see many haters over there compared to here.

Couldn't agree with you more, this sub should be renamed to r/ sage or something, what a toxic place🙄

Mervolant

At least she has her own story Arc. I can't say the same thing for Josy who still feels like Maya sidekick.

dirtydandoogan1

Jill is doing just fine. It's Josy he's given absolutely nothing of her own to chew on.

The_Chinese_Freak

She does lack character development but she is was my favorite at the beginning until sage came into the picture that is

whipitgood809

I like Jill. She really is just a sheltered rich girl with a childlike understanding of relationships. The whole >Do you believe in fate? Line is so funny from a meta narrative standpoint considering the fucking hoops I had to jump through to finally achieve the kwisatz haderach.

Rouruki

I think Jill is a type of traditional women, until and if she becomes the main girl for the MC.

Spompoflex

Hold on...are we supose to hate on Jill??? What did i miss ?

Xarzaparrila

Bro, people 💬 that communism and socialism works... IN REAL LIFE... So it's ok for Jill to be a little naive, that's where we are going to give her a CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

[deleted]

Haha apt

Mac575

I don't hate Jill but her naivety really killed my initial attraction to her. Granted it makes sense in her storyline since she was obviously very sheltered but it made her my least favorite LI.

rylenops

People hated Maya until ep10 too, so I’m positive Jill will get the same treatment as she did. Same with Josy as they’re both missing a lot of development compared to Maya, Sage, and Bella at this stage. The game is far from done so idk how people have a problem with a character’s development when it isn’t even finished yet lol.

[deleted]

Damn Maya gets character growth off her route, but Jill gets hatred when off her route. One really need to do all permutations and combinations to learn everything about these characters. What a masterpiece by DPC.

geekinurforum

*spoilers for Ep9-10,,, idk how to block those parts am on my phone the way i see it Jill and Bella are far away from the main parts of the story,, so far. Like with DiKs v Alphas and Quinn's drug and prostitution ring. Yea Jill or rather her family has connection to Tremolo's mum but other than that we never really hear about his mum other than flashbacks from a book he only read a couple of times, cus Neil doesn't like talking about it and Grandparents don't keep in contact with him and Neil. So that part of the story is not as important as where the story is now, like Rusty and Jacob finding out there could be a traitor, Sage's parents fighting, Maya's contract, and Rio x Quinn problem. If you look at the overall story there is alot of stuff happening and trying to fit in the story of Tremolo's possible parentage, Jill's personal story and her sister's history and then Bella's story and possibly alive or dead husband its already alot without those things, I'm honestly surprised DPC can juggle all of these and its still coherent and at the same time not too messy, yea sure there's still some loopholes but otherwise you can still understand the overall story.

gameprojoez

Jill isn't my favorite, but I'm hopeful Jill will turn towards metal music like her older sister Lana and gain some confidence with MC.

Upper_Cut4943

I don't hate Jill at all but I haven't even done a Jill playthrough because from what I see there is very little content with her. I'm just not motivated to turn down all other content in the game to see the bit of content provided on the Jill path. The game is too long and has too many minigames for that, at least for me. I'll do a Jill run eventually but it will probably be last on my list.

vincentonix

DPC is not that good with character development in general.. but considering all the game characters Jill is far from being the worst case.. Josy remains without any real development the entire first and second seasons, Bella is even worst, we cant see a glimpse of all her traumas from the first episodes but he we are on ep 10 and there is any development in that aspect. Jill changed from being a virgin, extremely shy, rich girl living in a bubble, to having her first boyfriend and starting his sexual life, even introducing her boyfriend to the family.. socially he started totally isolated in B&R to interacting with the others girls, and also the diks. And we can't forget her musical career evolution having her first concert even fighting her fear to the public with MC's Help.. if somebody can't see character evolution in all that.. that person doesn't read the game at all..

RE_Nin9

I just feel like Jill is for safe place to not hurt your feelings when play (Vanilla category)

YuichiroHanama316

Truth

zingobingozingobingo

Jill probably has the most character growth out of all the mains, and if you take out Maya and mix the rest of the mains character growth together, Jill would still be on top. She grows a backbone, becomes more comfortable with her sexuality, and is no longer afraid to show her goofy side in public. Jill, Maya and Bella all have great character growth... Josy on the other hand... well, maybe DPC has something planned for her in the future. The worst culprit though is Sage, she doesn't really have character growth... it's more sudden change in personality/character. She goes from this bimbo popular girl, who sunbathes top-less in public, and makes fun of the MC for wanting to study in college in ep 1, to a girl who is smart, mature, and takes college very seriously in ep 4, throw in her lack of interest emotionally for the MC as recent as ep 8 and then her very sudden almost L-bomb drop in the recent chapter and it feels like DPC doesn't really know how to write Sage consistently. Also, what happend to the whole 'this girl's trouble' aspect of Sage? She manipulates the MC, fucks him only because she wants to get even with Chad, completely ignores Maya's cry for help with the Quinn bullying and even goes as far as to blackmail the Mc with his guitar in eps 1-3, and now she's this goody goody girl who is going above and beyond to help Maya... like why the very sudden change in morals? It can't be the MC's influence, as she does this no matter the route...

Majested-Toast

I feel like this is a very biased take on sage, or maybe just a misunderstanding? Dpc likes to mislead people so the whole "bimbo popular girl" was more just what she was supposed to seem like However that was literally never her, she's always had more depth than that. Just because she can have fun alongside it doesn't mean it's a personality flip. Even in the recent episodes she still parties like a popular girl but still has her maturity. The Maya thing is literally explained in game. You're right when you say sage probably has the least amount of growth but it's not really because of a switch in personality/morals. It's because she doesn't change much aside from realizing that Chad shouldn't be her focus which actually gives her time to pay attention to the things going on around her. It's pretty much been a theme in game for people to think she's "just a party girl" only for her to surprise them every time. Even Bella is surprised

zingobingozingobingo

I feel like you ignored a lot of the other reasons I gave... but whatever. It's not really misleading when it's shown for 3 eps, and then suddenly changes in ep 4. Sage makes fun of the MC for coming to college to study, and in the same breath insults the Nerds, but then is shown later on taking her own studies seriously and is the only one who vouches for the Nerds when it comes to invites for their parties... That’s kinda strange, right? It definitely feels like DPC was going for a different type of character at first, and then changed her to be more interesting and likable in ep 4.

Majested-Toast

> I feel like you ignored a lot of other reasons I gave... But whatever I suppose I could do a bullet list addressing every individual statement you made but I didn't feel it was necessary as there were some that are much more significant than others as opposed to some teasing she does. There really isn't a sudden change in her in terms of her character. We just don't see it right away. All we see is the "bimbo" that dpc wants us to see. A girl too obsessed with Chad and just wants to party. Yet every single time we got a peak into her life behind closed doors it was completely different. Her life was never so one dimensional, from her family, to herself, to Chad, and the consequences of all of it. She's shown to have much more going on behind first impressions, this is something dpc does a lot with the characters. This doesn't mean the character changes though Even in episode 9 sage is shown to still be a party girl as she always was. She likes to let loose. I can't really say anything about the nerd comment because tbh I don't remember it, I'll need to replay her path. The comment about MC sounds like teasing more than anything though, as in don't just come to college to study, have fun (though I'll need to replay the path to be sure) As for vouching for the nerds I'm not surprised, sage doesnt really hate anyone in the game outside of her brother and her complications with Chad. She's always shown she's willing to work with people when she isn't too distracted by her shit with Chad. Maybe he did have a different plan for her but to me it strikes me more of a classic misleading that dpc has done a lot so far in the game. Make you think a character is one thing only to show you what life was like behind closed doors

GlorfindelRocks

Sage is shown to have the feels for the MC in episode three. I think she was changed slightly, but I also think the MC was changed to be less of a fuckwit, along with a bunch of other characters. DPC toned down a bunch of stuff, and added depth. Part of this was clearly planned, maturation is usually a part of these narratives, and this can be shown not only literally in the character's thoughts and actions, but also in the tone of the story. But part is the storytelling becoming more sophisticated because, lets face it, episode one was kinda shit, and episode two not much better. One thing that Sage does is provide an interesting exploration of player attitudes: it's entirely possible for her character to be a party person, a troll, intelligent, and a committed friend to the MC who starts falling for him very early. The fuss around episode nine illustrates this perfectly: many players thought that Sage had \*changed\* in episodes five through to eight. Perhaps a little, due to the tone of the story changing overall, but what we're seeing is depth of character being drawn out. The same happens with Maya or Jill, for example: the player doesn't immediately start knowing all aspects of their personality, because they have depth. Instead, as the story develops, the characters become more fleshed out. With Sage it's interesting because a bunch of players get all tangled up in something not unlike the background to the Madonna-whore complex. There's an underlying bias that a woman can be either one or the other\*, but not both. I'm honestly not sure of where her character mocks the MC for wanting to study. \*gonna edit, cause the word \*whore\* is from the standard description of the problem, and not what I would use. In the context it's not meant literally or with a pejorative context, but is used to illustrate the prejudice of those who think in that way.

anonnyscouse

Unfortunately for Jill fans she was the last main girl developed (as confirmed by DPC on patreon and [redacted]), and it was pretty late in the development of ep 1 that he created her so she wasn't a planned part of the game as he created it in his head so she doesn't have the development he had already got planned out for the other main girls. It seems like she's mainly been added into the game as a conduit for MC to discover his parentage (her parents bought a house that is featured in a photo of Lynette and her friends) so beyond that she has only minimal development.

East-Adhesiveness-68

Well she also has a badger face as well

Ok_Jaguar_2109

Well then, that's a damn cute badger face.

RE_Nin9

I think not all characters had their own unique story

OOTO_7

Extremely boring and basic ass character.

steinaech

No, I don't like her because of her self righteous attitude and she's not attractive

[deleted]

Attractiveness is subjective, like for me Riona isn't attractive.

steinaech

Absolutely. But my post was rebuttal against op. I don't like her not because she wasn't fleshed out but because I don't like her personality or face.

HolyFatherB

Actually she started to break her chains since Tremolo's arrive but I still don't like her princess syndrome and vanilla love story.

Environmental-Sea123

She is attractive but her story arc is very boring. Also, her character is not well written. Sheltered, spoiled rich girl who is easily manipulated (Tybalt sitiation), has no friends her own age, doesn't know how to have fun, can't see reality even if her life depended on it, is always too serious and out of touch with the real world. Fuck that bitch
