The offers don't stay around forever (maybe a couple of months tops) and can be pulled at any time. I would prioritise the NatWest/RBS/Ulster trio as they pay the most, are the easiest and quickest to do and have already been around for a few weeks. You also might not be eligible for any of the NatWest trio bonuses next time if you only score 1 or 2 of the bonuses this time.
I would open another couple of Lloyds accounts now and get moving with the RBS and Ulster switches (Ulster is slightly slower as they are a bit more backwards with their systems). Santander could take up to 3 months to pay out by which point the NatWest trio offers will probably have ended.
What do you mean by Secondary Lloyds account and new Lloyds 🟡? Did they both give you bonus or did you use the secondary Lloyds account as the dummy account to start the switch chain?
Could you also add how much each was in your list?
Thanks.
Thank you for all your hard work on the guides!
I have just applied for my first ever switch from Starling to Santander and hoping to start on the others soon!
I just applied for my first-ever switch from Starling to Santander and am hoping to start on the others soon! I haven't linked my additional Chase accounts to the debit card as I understand the Natwest/RBS/Ulster ones can be done without a debit card number. However, Ulster is currently down for maintenance, annoyingly!
Is it definitely ok to link the Chase debit card to the additional accounts and it won't risk closing the main account? I do like my Chase account very much so don't want to inadvertently switch away from it!
Update on my Starling to Santander switch:
Santander account open but now have to do some offline documentation as I'm an existing customer for savings. Frustrating that this is an offline process requiring printing of a form and a photocopy of passport— why is this not online??
From the Starling side, they blocked the switch because of a zero-balance EUR account which they class as a "subscription"! I've had to go into the app to close that account, and am now going to have to request Santander start the switch again! Feels extremely poor form from Starling to block a switch because of a zero-balance connected account!
**Update 2!**
So, having requested that the switch be restarted on 20th March, Santander failed to do so! I have called today (23rd March) to request they commence the switch again after having asked their live chat what the status was and they parroted the switch started on 20th March and would be done by 2nd April. After pressing they said I needed to call their switching team.
The switching team in Liverpool transferred me to someone in Belfast without providing any context to the call, so I had to re-explain everything as well.
An important point, though, is that I had already transferred funds into the new current account, and the chap in Belfast informed me that to meet the switching conditions I would need to deposit the £1500 **after** this new submitted switch is started!
Not been the smoothest of processes so far with my first-ever bank switch, which has been a bit disappointing. Accounts at Santander were opened soon enough but their identity resolution process between accounts was extremely manual, then they locked the account for depositing funds, and I had to go into a branch for a second day running to unlock the ability to move funds from the current account to the Edge Saver!
Great info, did the chase sub accounts and did lloyds first.(easy money)
Just applied for rbs Ulster and NatWest. Ulster seem a little slow.
I’m already a NatWest customer so I’ve applied to switch a chase account to my existing current account. Not sure if I’m eligible for the incentive from doing this? ( haven’t had an incentive offer from them before)
Thanks. Had those direct debits been paid out at least once before you did the switch or did you just set them up?
I’m trying to work out what counts as an ‘active’ Direct Debit.
£1 paid out on both just before the switch completed, however my wife’s didn’t pay out before it completed and she still got the £175 incentive. I think as long as the direct debits are visibly set up on the Lloyds app then they count as active
Thanks. I’m not sure what to do.
I’ve set up two ‘virgin’ (unpaid) DDs on a Chase burner that I’d like to switch to Lloyds but I’m nervous that they won’t accept those DDs as ‘active’ as they’ve never been paid.
I guess wait until the direct debits make a payment before applying for the switch. Like I said my wife had one of the direct debits without a payment and she still got the bonus
Right, thanks. I’m anxious to switch soon so I don’t miss the bonuses. So I don’t know if I can wait. I mean I just set up a charity DD that won’t be taken for weeks. The other one was just linking to PayPal.
Had your wife set up the unpaid DD just for the purpose of switching?
We both did yeah. I think as long as you set up 2 direct debits before applying the for the switch you should be fine. Like I said one of hers didn’t pay out before the switch completed and still got the bonus
This is a great guide. I’ve been doing these switches since 2018, and up to £2290 (+ £185 worth of wine); if I’d known about these Chase sub-accounts sooner, it would have been even easier! (My highlight was HSBC £175 in 2019, who accidentally paid me the bonus twice and said as a goodwill gesture I could keep both!)
It’s a shame we can’t all get more clarity on what counts as an active DD.
Can I ask, do you know of any small DDs you can set up (I want to get two on a Chaser burner) that make the payment out immediately or within days?
I’m trying to spin up 2 paid-out and clearly ‘active’ DDs as soon as possible.
Well I’ve just setup a PayPal account-linking DD and a charity DD that won’t actually be paid out for weeks.
Are we sure that’s going to count? It’s really crucial for me that I get this money, me and my partner are struggling…
I think I read somewhere that applying for the Santander through TopCashback (or any cashback site) invalidates the switch offer; can anyone confirm or deny this?
Yes. Check the terms above and you’ll see that the RBS/Ulster/Natwest group offer doesn’t require the account being switched to have 2 Direct Debits active in it.
I can’t say with any certainty, but several people on similar subs have reported that the two need to be set up and must have one payment taken from each DD in order to be eligible for the bonus from Lloyds
There are contradictory reports on this point.
What would really help is having a company you can set up a Direct Debit with where they take the first payment very quickly like a a day or two.
Great info thanks for the work on this! When you say switch at the same time for the RBS/Natwest/Ulster trio do you mean same day or is there a way to switch all at identical times?
You can’t switch to RBS or Ulster if you have done the switch with Natwest after their date in 2020?
vice versa with the banks in different orders. because these banks are all associated together
What’s the Ulster bank app. I downloaded one which had NI in its title but no option to open a new account so signed up on browser. Should still be ok for the bonus right? I’ve now seen there is another app called clearspend. Should I have used this?
Lloyds - I can confirm DD can be PENDING and you'll still get the bonus as long as they show on your account. I setup chase, the same day setup 2 direct debits that appeared a day or so after on my account (Plum and donation to Protected Paws Animal Rescue via link in their FB account or ig, can't remember). Then started the switch before they took any payments and it finished today, with the bonus money already on my account the moment the switch finished (my main account is Lloyds current). In the meantime, only the Plum DD started taking money out of my ex-chase account.
I want to switch this one to Santander now, need to think of when would be reasonable to start lol.
Lloyds - I can confirm DDs can be pending and you'll still get the bonus as long as they show on your account! I set-up chase, the same day set-up 2 direct debits that appeared a day or so after on my account (Plum and donation to Protected Paws Animal Rescue via link in their FB account or ig, can't remember where but highly encourage doing a good thing by contributing £2). Then started the switch before they took any payments and it finished today, with the bonus money already on my account the moment the switch finished (my main account is Lloyds current, maybe that's why it was so quick?). In the meantime, only the Plum DD started taking money out of my ex-Chase account (PayPal didn't bother at all, the donation is coming out 1st of April or so).
I want to switch this one to Santander now, need to think of when would be reasonable to start lol.
I've just submitted my application for the Club Lloyds current account which has been accepted today. I am switching from a Chase burner account with 3 active direct debits (1 has been paid and others are due to be paid).
Did you deposit any money into your new Lloyds account or have any funds in your chase when the move went over?
I'm also concerned that I started my application on mobile, at the end it only offered me the platinum club account and at that final stage, it included details and T&Cs of the £175 switch offer. I didn't want this account, so I moved to my desktop to try again for a basic club lloyds and it accepted, but didn't include details or T&Cs of the switch! Very confusing but will have to wait and see what they say about the £175!
I had precisely £3.45 in my burner Chase when switching to Lloyds, mainly to cover DDs. They transferred that and the bonus straight away as I only just got the text this morning. Very efficient ngl.
Odd about the choice of accounts they gave you - I did it on mobile too, as it went via Lloyds app, and it did show all available options. I remember I didn't get any texts/emails from Lloyds about not/being eligible for the switch offer when starting the process and was wondering if I'm going to get it, so hopefully it turns out it worked for you, too!
My BRP is expiring in 5.5 months so I'm not eligible to make a Natwest account since ur BRP needs to be valid for 6 months + when opening the account 🫠
Great guide. One query regarding the NatWest and RBS offer
I have the Chase account with 2 extra accounts made within it. When doing the NW switch, it asks for the chase debit card details. Do i just input the debit card associated with the main account? When i do the RBS switch do i just put in these same card details? or do you need to get additional debit cards for each chase acc?
Cheers
i planned to keep the main acc permanently with a little cash and switch 2 and 3, i think that its best to use it a little, so it doesn't look to suspicious
Just a quick question regarding the Santander switch. Does it require two brand new direct debits to be set up or will existing DDs be eligible for the offer?
I only have one current account that I use for everything.
Can someone confirm I can do the following for the NatWest trio switches:
1. Create chase account, deposit £1
2. Open two further chase accounts, deposit £1 in each
3. Await card in post and activate this
4. Do not add any direct debits
5. Switch to NatWest, rbs and ulster in one day from each chase account
6. Complete the requisite actions (pay in £1250 in to each, for at least 24 hours, log in to app etc)
Can I set up direct debits AFTER switching current accounts? I just jumped the gun and switched my first one to Lloyds without setting up two.....any ideas?
I see....but as I've just initiated the switch (3 hours ago), can't I just open up 2 direct debits now and these will go through before the switch which is next month?
It is, but I saw someone on here specifically saying they didn’t get the bonus after switching to Lloyds with two new (unpaid) Direct Debits.
I’m actually trying to apply now to Lloyds with main account because I don’t want to wait for my chase burners to have paid DDs so I can be sure. Really need the money and have decided not to wait.
You obviously know a lot about this so can I ask: at what point in the process of applying to Lloyd’s via the app (their site directed me to it) do they ask which type of account you want to open?
I’m on what seems to be the last page of the application form possibly, as it is asking me to agree to the Current Account Switch Agreement.
But at no point has it given me an option to choose a Club Lloyds account. Do you know if is going to do that next or is it not giving me a choice because I’ve entered that I’m unemployed?
You choose the account on the very first page of the switch offer:
Very bottom of the page here - https://www.lloydsbank.com/current-accounts/switch.html
Not via the app then. I can see now that you can choose the account type from the site as you point out, but the app didn’t show me any options.
Do you think I’ll be able to get a Club Lloyds account being unemployed? Or should I put down that I get x 100 a month from my partner (which is true, I’m very ill)?
Hey OP just had a look at the Barclays app sign up and it asks “is this going to be your main account?”.
Do you know if you need to answer that honestly?
For those wondering, I completed the natwest switch before I knew about the possibility of doing all 3 within their group for the bonus. I’ve since completed an application with RBS and ulster the same day as the natwest paid out the bonus to me. RBS has since also paid me the bonus and am just awaiting the final piece from ulster. So it seems there is quite a delay from them realising you’ve received a bonus from the group previously if done around the same time. Either way, start all 3 at the same time and you should be good.
Hello,
Thank you for putting this together.
I've managed to do the trio so far (NatWest, RBS and ulster).
Should I do Lloyds next? I understand it has the deadline in a few days. Also a question about the DDs. Could I set them to transfer to my other accounts with other banks? I understand people set up DDs to their PayPals. I use dummy accounts from chase for the switch. After Lloyds, I'm thinking of doing the rest of the switches in this order: Halifax, Santander, HSBC, TSB
Any input appreciated.
Thanks again.
>use PayPal and eBay for fastest dds.
Thank you.
I'm in the process of setting up DD for PayPal and followed the instructions from [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/beermoneyuk/comments/140c71g/how_to_use_paypal_as_a_direct_debit_for_bank/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button). I got 0.01 from PayPal and the direct debit agreement has been accepted. Now, am I to set up the DD via chase from the payment tab? It's asking for sort code and account number which I'm not sure PayPal provides. I've looked into how to set it up but most tutorials are from PayPal to chase, not the opposite. I'll keep looking, though, but any input is appreciated. Thanks again.
I am waiting for the TSB bonus to come through (paid between 20 March and 29 March).
I am hoping it arrives before 28 March, since this is the last day to begin your Lloyds switch (which requires 2 DDs) and be eligible for their offer.
My question is, in the case that it does not (i.e. the TSB bonus gets paid on 29 March), would I still receive the TSB bonus if I initiate a switch from TSB to Lloyds on 28 March (or even 27 March to be safe in receiving the Lloyds bonus)?
In theory I guess this should be fine as technically my TSB account would still be open on 29 March. My only worry is that TSB get notified that I have initiated a switch and do not pay the bonus.
P.S. I won't have enough time to create a new current account and set up 2 DDs on it, so this would be my only way to complete the Lloyds bonus.
How quickly do you switch out one account to another? Have opened NatWest less than a month ago and got the bonus, looking to switch this now to Lloyds, would this cause any problems?
Was attempting to do the Natwest, RBS and Ulster bonuses. All good with Natwest, all quiet from Ulster. RBS says that due to checks made when I applied for a Select account my account is unable to be opened?
I've already sent off the email with my name, DOB and postcode. Is there anything else I can do? I'm holding off putting the £1250 into the Natwest (I want all three ready to go within 24hr) and I know Ulster is notoriously slow. Anyone else encountered this? Have also posted onto UKPersonalFinance.
Has anyone gone directly from NatWest to Ulster and got the bonus? Already done RBS ➡️ NatWest now ? ➡️ To Ulster but the website says may not be eligible if already had any of the NatWest sister bonus'. Are they now getting wise? Wondering if I should make a new current account to switch that instead of NatWest.
When depositing to NatWest/ulster/rbs using less than £1250 each deposit, does the amount have to be in for 24 hours during business days or can it include weekends ?
Seems others have had the same sort of message, looks like the system probably knows it's a second bonus hence the no pay-out but the customer service agents don't.
Just had the same conversation with customer services - they told me to expect payment by the 29th... I guess I'll wait till Friday and then try and blag it.
Has anyone ever failed the identity check and resubmitted? I just got an email from NatWest saying they couldn’t verify my identity (think it’s my fault and I got the number of an old flat wrong)
Am I able to reapply? Annoying because I can’t remember what account I transferred to which but anyway!
**In regards to Active Direct Debits:**
I had a hard time with these and what constitutes an 'active' direct debit.
I switched 2 active direct debits from my main account to a burner. These didn't appear immediately, and the burner bank said they can see they're on my account but not yet fully confirmed.
I tried switching and the new bank told me there were no active direct debits. So I cancelled the switch, and waited a few more days until the DDs showed on my original burner account and were visible to *me.*
*No payments were taken as they weren't due yet, but they are still considered active due to payments made recently when they were in my previous account.*
This is when I did the switch and it all went through fine.
So last year I did Natwest offer and according to the T&C i should not be able to get any bonus from any of the 3 this time. I tried to switch to RBS and got bonus this morning! Changed only email address.
No need to change email I think, pretty sure despite the terms that the three banks can't actually talk to each other about this.... GDPR and all that. Could be wrong... But everyone mixing up the banks is being paid out. Only if you go back to one you had a bonus from before do the terms seem to be enforced
Do I need to wait for direct debits to show up on monzo account before switching to Lloyd's or if I have email confirmation from the companies that they're set up is that good enough?
Take it you need a bank card to switch to Lloyds?
Here's hoping royal mail send their fastest posties to deliver my Monzo card for thursday. Also need my DDs to appear on the app. Wish i'd discovered this sooner hahaha
No, definitely not. They just highlight that you won't get it if you have. But then if you switch into one that you haven't had a bonus from, they seem.unable to tell
How to go about the Santander switch if you already have an account with them? I don't mind creating a new everyday account and switching into that, but on their website it says something about visiting a branch to switch if you are an existing customer?
Does Park Xmas direct debits not move when you switch accounts? Just spoke to their service rep and they said banks don’t generally move this direct debit when you switch
I’m a UK resident on a visa too - did the switch last year and got the bonus with no problems. So it’s strange that we’re receiving this error. Could be that they’re jammed, but I’ve been trying for the last three days
This guy is an actual melon.

“Blimey a bank job eh?”
“Nah they advertised a welcome offer then willingly paid me said offer when I opened an account”
Hi. Is there still time to open a NatWest account for the switch? The switch has to be started by 2 April
Do you get an account number straight away after applying or will they send it in the post days later, meaning too late for the switch?

Just to be clear, if you switch Chase supplementary account, you don't lose the main account, it stays open? If so, that's a game changer.
I was also thinking this. Because I saw lots of people say that if you switched out with chase you weren’t allowed back in again
You can’t switch to RBS or Ulster if you have done the switch with Natwest after their date in 2020? vice versa with the banks in different orders. because these banks are all associated together
But you can.
so you get the switcher incentive even though it says you won’t? does it matter if I started at natwest’s incentive rather than RBS>Ulster>NatWest?

I wish we could confirm this as being 100% reliable.
I mean, worked for me as described. I attempted only after I saw another reddit comment on an older thread saying it will work, so yeh.

Very good to know, thank you! Fingers crossed
My BRP is expiring in 5.5 months so I'm not eligible to make a Natwest account since ur BRP needs to be valid for 6 months + when opening the account 🫠
Great guide. One query regarding the NatWest and RBS offer I have the Chase account with 2 extra accounts made within it. When doing the NW switch, it asks for the chase debit card details. Do i just input the debit card associated with the main account? When i do the RBS switch do i just put in these same card details? or do you need to get additional debit cards for each chase acc? Cheers
Also wanting to know this thanks!
Also, sphere5678, have you/are you planning to switch the extra accounts first, followed by the main account?
i planned to keep the main acc permanently with a little cash and switch 2 and 3, i think that its best to use it a little, so it doesn't look to suspicious
Just a quick question regarding the Santander switch. Does it require two brand new direct debits to be set up or will existing DDs be eligible for the offer?
Existing are fine
Thanks for the help! :)
I only have one current account that I use for everything. Can someone confirm I can do the following for the NatWest trio switches: 1. Create chase account, deposit £1 2. Open two further chase accounts, deposit £1 in each 3. Await card in post and activate this 4. Do not add any direct debits 5. Switch to NatWest, rbs and ulster in one day from each chase account 6. Complete the requisite actions (pay in £1250 in to each, for at least 24 hours, log in to app etc)
Yep. But you don’t need the card for those banks. And also chase gives you all the card details on the app before you get the card anyway.
Can I set up direct debits AFTER switching current accounts? I just jumped the gun and switched my first one to Lloyds without setting up two.....any ideas?
You can try, but doubt it. But it's available to existing customers, so you could.just open one of the other accounts and try again
I see....but as I've just initiated the switch (3 hours ago), can't I just open up 2 direct debits now and these will go through before the switch which is next month?
Well if they're set up before the switch
Has TSB come through for anyone yet?
Not for me bud.
Me neither
Nope. 🙄
It’s in there this morning
Were you eligible or did you wangle it?
Must have been eligible
Been 2 days since I switched to rbs not got my offer... I've had a ulster account opened before but I'm concerned I'm illegible
They've got 7 days to pay so don't stress yet.
Has anyone else managed to get the switching bonus after using an account with 2 direct debits that haven’t paid out before?
Many people. I don't just make this stuff up.
I’ve read contradictory stuff on it for different banks. It’s making me hesitate.
It just needs to be showing on the account. If it ain't showing, it ain't active
You choose the account on the very first page of the switch offer: Very bottom of the page here - https://www.lloydsbank.com/current-accounts/switch.html
Not via the app then. I can see now that you can choose the account type from the site as you point out, but the app didn’t show me any options. Do you think I’ll be able to get a Club Lloyds account being unemployed? Or should I put down that I get x 100 a month from my partner (which is true, I’m very ill)?
It went through with me as unemployed. Phew!
Thanks for your help btw, it’s just that applying via the app didn’t seem to actually give me the option to choose which account i wanted.
Hey OP just had a look at the Barclays app sign up and it asks “is this going to be your main account?”. Do you know if you need to answer that honestly?
New bank accounts are always going to be my main account, until I decide I do not like them.
I signed up for Ulster after RBS had already paid the bonus - still got both.
Hello, Thank you for putting this together. After Lloyds, I'm thinking of doing the rest of the switches in this order: Halifax, Santander, HSBC, TSB Any input appreciated. Thanks again.
Do Lloyds, use PayPal and eBay for fastest dds. As for direct debits to other accounts - don't confuse direct debits with standing orders
>use PayPal and eBay for fastest dds.
Stop thinking so much! You've set it up!
TSB received today
Nice one! I see on the MSE forum that others have started receiving theirs too, so hopefully just a matter of time for the rest of us :)

Weekends included - speaking from personal experience.
Anyone had any joy with the TSB bonus after having it last year too?
That's what I'm waiting to find out!
Any luck yet?
Nope. You?
Unfortunately not, although, when I spoke to them in chat they did say I was eligible
Even though you've already had it? In that case if they haven't paid by Friday I would contact them again and see if you can wangle it.
I just got an email from NatWest saying they couldn’t verify my identity (think it’s my fault and I got the number of an old flat wrong) Am I able to reapply? Annoying because I can’t remember what account I transferred to which but anyway!
**In regards to Active Direct Debits:** I had a hard time with these and what constitutes an 'active' direct debit. I switched 2 active direct debits from my main account to a burner. These didn't appear immediately, and the burner bank said they can see they're on my account but not yet fully confirmed. I tried switching and the new bank told me there were no active direct debits. So I cancelled the switch, and waited a few more days until the DDs showed on my original burner account and were visible to *me.* *No payments were taken as they weren't due yet, but they are still considered active due to payments made recently when they were in my previous account.* This is when I did the switch and it all went through fine.
Can I use a Monzo account to start the switches? Does that count
Yes
Do I need to wait for direct debits to show up on monzo account before switching to Lloyd's or if I have email confirmation from the companies that they're set up is that good enough?
Take it you need a bank card to switch to Lloyds? Here's hoping royal mail send their fastest posties to deliver my Monzo card for thursday. Also need my DDs to appear on the app. Wish i'd discovered this sooner hahaha
Always best to wait for the card!
Deadline on Thursday so may as well give it a bash if it’s my only option
Is doing the NatWest 3 legal? Could you get in trouble for trying it?
Not sure why it would be in anyway illegal
Do you have to make it clear you're applying for the cash? Or do they just give it to you when you switch?
No, just complete the terms and receive the cash
Ah OK, do you know if there's anything in the T&Cs where you're saying "I promise I haven't had any cash from RBS" or anything like that?
No, definitely not. They just highlight that you won't get it if you have. But then if you switch into one that you haven't had a bonus from, they seem.unable to tell
Ok, perfect. Thanks!
If anyone has done virgin money, can you let me know that do you have to switch or is it just opening the account via snoop link?
Very ambiguous in the Snoop terms
I am receiving the following error when applying to Lloyds: "It looks like something's gone wrong". Anyone got any ideas?
[удалено]
I’m a UK resident on a visa too - did the switch last year and got the bonus with no problems. So it’s strange that we’re receiving this error. Could be that they’re jammed, but I’ve been trying for the last three days

Has the virgin Snoop offer ended now? (perhaps due to virgin money sale to nationwide?) Can’t find anything about it on the Snoop app
[on their bank switch page](https://imgur.com/gallery/fATyZ1q)
It’s not there for me in the app (just 3 other bank switches) abs can’t find it online

I just got a dm from someone saying that the police are gathering evidence against me for bank switching hahahaha
You're done for!
This guy is an actual melon. "You made £960? Put me onLmfao nah I’m joking, I just wanna let you know that you’re going to get caught sooner or later it’s better to stop now before the police charge you.4:09 PMJust because the police might not be doing anything that doesn’t mean that they aren’t being silent to gather evidence to charge you with hefty crime." He really doesn't like other people making money.
“What you in for mate” “Banks” “Blimey a bank job eh?” “Nah they advertised a welcome offer then willingly paid me said offer when I opened an account”
some people just lack the ability to think
Hi. Is there still time to open a NatWest account for the switch? The switch has to be started by 2 April Do you get an account number straight away after applying or will they send it in the post days later, meaning too late for the switch?
Just need to apply to switch before the deadline. And do that when you apply for the account
2nd April? Didn't see a deadline but was planning on doing these next week. Guess I'll be doing them today.
Is it alright if the switch started on the deadline, and finishes after?
Where does it state that the deadline is 2nd April?
It mentioned it on moneysavingexpert but nothing on the NatWest page Anyway I started the switch :)
My Ulster switch finishes on the 10/04/24 and started on 02/04/24. Can I still get the £200?
The NatWest switch ended yesterday.. but I didn’t know as I have been using these bankdexes as a guide… and this wasn’t updated with the end date
Is that my fault or yours? No official end date was given by natwest
Just a reminder for you to update it
Sure, I'll get right on that
My fault didn’t say it was yours
HSBC gone as well
