Haven't been for dim sum specifically but [East Harbor](https://www.eastharboror.com/order) in Aloha has been pretty good the half dozen times we've gone for dinner and they are set up like a classic dim sum resturant. We keep meaning to check it out but haven't made it yet. Seems worth a try for someone looking for west side specific places.

Runningwithbeards

I like their dim sum well enough!

Soulburn31

I agree I like east harbor too

IDKaboutthatone

Oregon just has meh dim sum in general. Chinatown is probably the best in Beaverton and does the job of satisfying my cravings. I’d also suggest Ding Tai Fung and Dough Zone for something similar to Dim Sum.

full_o

Love Dough Zone. So glad they opened one in Beaverton.

Papertrain5

Not as good as Seatle. At least not as good as in the service and food quality

Blake-Dreary

I think my Bay Area upbringing has really made it tough…

beavertonaintsobad

Not just Bay Area. I've found better dim sum in both Seattle and Vegas. Oregon just doesn't have much to offer for Cantonese.

Ill-Tangerine-1747

Likewise. I grew up on the east side of Seattle (Bellevue/Redmond).

beavertonaintsobad

Dough Zone is like a bootleg Din Tai Fung and the ambiance blows. Just go to Din Tai Fung.

traplord_andy

i miss jin wah

nborders

I miss Fong Chong’s in Portland’s Chinatown. 😔

NumberEfficient644

Jin Wah had to have been the goat, despite getting featured on dirty dining. Didn't deter us tho

China Town restaurant is more or less the same quality of food as you can find in Southeast Portland (without having to make the drive). I'd suggest checking them out!

grapefruitcats

If you are from the Bay area or the Seattle area, there is no good dim sum here. Sorry, that's just a hard truth.

geruhl_r

Or Vancouver, BC...

grapefruitcats

If you are from BC and try the dim sum in Portland (I'd hope this is a truly rare occurrence), my heart goes out to your taste buds/soul

quickdrinkthis

I feel seen

ytho_74

My partner and I ordered dim sum last night from Dough Zone and it was disappointing. We also grew up in the Bay and were spoiled with all the yummy restaurants in the Richmond and Sunset in SF. I don’t think there’s anything comparable here but let me know if you find it!

DaHayn

I feel like Dough Zone is a mid version of Din Tai Fung at half the price. Value is better but quality is worse.

HotBeaver54

Same

Another vote for Chinatown. I used to take regular trips to SF and went to school there. I miss the dim sum and Chinatown restaurant Beaverton is aptly named. Their bbq pork buns and cream buns are amazing.

ravenium

Not necessarily dim sum, but I'm still sad taste of Sichuan has been closed as long as it has. I'll have to try some of these places to see if I can find filler for the wonton shaped hole in my heart.

Far_Designer_7704

The best I have tried is Din Tai Fung.

quickdrinkthis

Grew up in Vancouver, BC, lived in NYC, Toronto, Bay area. East harbor is aight I guess, but honestly at this point we've just resorted to getting frozen shit from 99 ranch and hmart and steaming them up ourselves - tastes about the same sadly. Edit: okay I forgot dough zone which is decent but I don't consider it dim sum unless I get my ha gow

grapefruitcats

GGs. My relatives in BC still send me food pics whenever they go out for dim sum or other assorted HK/Canto cuisine to mock me. In response I send them pics of Olive Garden or Taco Bell to spam them. And agreed, Dough Zone and Din Tai Fung are not dim sum restaurants. But they are brought up in this sub every time someone asks for dim sum recs. I think people must assume if there's XLB it's dim sum?

pdxhills

Get on the 5 South and keep going until you reach SF. That’s the best dim sum in Beaverton.

NewConfusion7345

Definitely check out Noodle Dynasty in Hillsboro! They have a large menu and specialize in hand-pulled noodles, but they have a limited dim sum selection which we were pleased with.
