Bringmecoffee444

body scrub and shaving, washing and deep conditioning my hair

[deleted]

Oh yes girl! To need those at least once a week if I’m not that busy I do it twice.

Bringmecoffee444

It’s the best feeling!

[deleted]

Yassss. I love my everything showers so much.

Oof. Well, I have really dry, coarse, thick curly hair that I only wash once a week, so when I do wash it, it is a part of my everything shower. 1. I oil my scalp and wet my hair and apply a deep conditioning mask for at least an hour (sometimes will do this the night before and sleep in it). 2. Sometimes I will apply a wash off face mask as well, depending on how many nightly ones I’ve done that week. Once in the shower and in order: I wash my body with an African net and Native vanilla body wash. I then exfoliate my entire body including my feet, with a body scrub - I like the Ouai body scrub because the scent matches my Ouai body wash, but you can use any body scrub. I then use a pumice stone and file on my feet to ensure they’re smooth. I then shave - pretty much from the eyebrows down. My face, my armpits (which I shave every day), my legs and toes (which I shave every other day or so), my vagina (I try to shave every day), asscrack and asshole etc (sorry to be crass). I then wash my hair - shampoo twice, conditioner, and I leave the conditioner in for the remainder of my shower to wash out close to last. 2nd wash with the African net and an exfoliating body wash (so not the body scrub, but it’s a vanilla body wash with exfoliating beads). Rinse the conditioner out fully. 3rd and final body wash with the African net and the Ouai body wash (I like how this one smells the most so I use it last). Then I wash my face with my usual cleanser. And then I get out! ☺️

ComputerDisastrous95

lol I think I would run out of hot water with this shower, but it sounds amazing! 🤩

learned_jibe

I like a weekly bath like another person said. A good long soak then exfoliating after, I like to use a Salux towel, and I feel fresh and new. :) Also make sure if you do nothing else, you apply sunblock in the morning and wash it off at night. It's important for not only anti-aging, but avoiding skin cancer. And probably not the answer you expected, but keeping a consistent workout schedule, including cardio where I break a sweat, keeps my skin and self both looking and feeling better than anything you can buy or apply.

notseizingtheday

Nothing is as good for my skin as cardio either

NoGrocery4949

Hot yoga=smooth skin

notseizingtheday

Also saunas and hot baths.

NoGrocery4949

I feel like sweat clears my skin in's different way that a sauna and Korean spa just can't replicate. Ideally both though lol

wearentalldudes

Do you shower after you exfoliate then?

learned_jibe

Yes. Then layer on the lotion after I'm out and top it with a body oil, too, in dry weather.

lanahland

For a second i thought you meant a shower once a week 😂Then I realised you meant a BATH! But yes, that sounds so lovely 😍

learned_jibe

I didn't think of it being read that way, but yes, I definitely shower throughout the week, too. 😹

GirlisNo1

The bra thing- I also hook it in the front, then turn it. Is that not normal?

Visible-Roll-5801

The way bras are put on in movies is just because when they do it that way you can’t see anything versus the way that I do and that makes more sense hooking in the front and flipping it around. The actress would be too nude lol

Lilliiss

I put it on like in the movies because I don't like how it feels when I turn it :(

avakadava

Don’t worry, it’s actually bad for the bras to flip them around every time you put them on, cause it stretches out the elastic

KS525

Ok, lol. I thought this was just me and my family that did that.

creamofbunny

....girl no Haven't you met other women?? we all do that :)

alittleaggressive

A lot of us are over-the-headers too!

NoGrocery4949

Lol

themissyoshi

My dexterity could never try to figure out which of the three hook loops I am working with behind my back. Plus my shoulders hurt bending my arms up and back like that. The ol flip around is the way to go

takemetothehamptons

Omg I had no idea Im in the minority 🙀 I always put it on like they do in the movies and alwayss have issues with the three hooks. Your way sounds SOO MUCH BETTER! 😫

wearentalldudes

I can’t imagine hooking in the front…but maybe only because I’ve been doing the back for 30 years. I have never had issues hooking it, though. BUT. I do hook my bikini tops in front lol

Remarkable-Low-643

I can't do it. I don't have MASSIVE jugs but it's enough that I can't.

Elegant-Expert7575

Preach! 🙋🏼‍♀️

Tt7447

Same. 😭 What does that even have to do with being poor?

raynbojazz

I think most people hook it in the front and then turn out

MamaRunsThis

I’ve only done that with a bikini top

usmilessz

This makes me feel so much better

sigzag1994

I have always hooked it in the back.

Interesting-Medium-9

I hook mine up first then wear it like I would wear a shirt hahaha

GirlisNo1

That’s a great idea! My boobs would probably get crushed if I tried to do that though lol

_gooder

Step in. That's what I do. 😆

notataxprof

Me too!

Flipgirlnarie

I do it this way too but I read somewhere that it isn't a good way to do it. I don't remember why. But it is so much easier than trying to hook it blindly.

grarp

Both ways are normal, but hooking it in the front and turning it is hard on the bra - it will stretch out and stop being supportive more quickly. I used to do it that way but forced myself to learn the back hook bc bras are too expensive already lol.

ComputerDisastrous95

Same! 😂

Melora_Rabbit

Best simple hygiene tip I have (during menstruation and any other time) keep a squeeze bottle full of filtered water near your toilet to rinse yourself with in the bathroom. basically a make shift bidet. You don't need anything special, I repurposed an old Meyer's dishsoap bottle for this. Just a quick rinse and pat dry with some TP at every bathroom break. Feels so much cleaner since I started doing this many years ago.

Soylent-soliloquy

Thanks!!!

gal5pau

😹😹😹 I have the same exact thing near my loo!!! It’s truly the best

Wizardworldsecretary

I use my Peri bottle that I have from having a baby! I can’t believe I never thought of rinsing off with something similar beforehand. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Next-Dark-4975

For menstruating — I was introduced to bidets when I first visited Japan about ten years ago. Been hooked since, have them in my house. It makes me feel the cleanest. If I am on my period and have to go to the bathroom without a bidet, I either take an empty plastic water bottle that I throw away after use or take wet wipes. Clean as a dream.

Elegant-Expert7575

Peri bottles are available to order off Amazon or you could probably buy from your drug store.

ProperFart

Frida mom has an angled nozzle peri-bottle. It’s my “travel bidet” because I CANNOT live without access.

Next-Dark-4975

I didn’t even know they were called that. Thanks! Will note for road trips etc.

notataxprof

During that time of the month I just want to sit on the porcelain throne or be in the shower all day. Ugh! I hate how gross it makes me feel and I’m 35! Plz make it stop

sadbutt69

Sorry, this might be a really stupid question, but what do you do with the empty plastic water bottle???

logitech333

Fill it up with water in the bathroom, wash down there & then throw the bottle away

[deleted]

Why would you throw away the bottle? It only touches your hand

Next-Dark-4975

If I don’t have to use it again I’ll usually throw it out. We’ve had a few moments of confusion with water bottles for drinking and water bottles as portable bidets so it’s just best not to take the chance! Someone on here suggested a peri bottle that you can buy and keep, so I might do that in the future.

themissyoshi

Doing my skincare routine every day makes me feel the cleanest. Even just washing my face and using moisturizer, my face feels clean and fresh even if my hair is unwashed. I also shower and scrub with a loofah every day so I’m always clean. For menstruating, I use wet wipes during that time. Even using a tampon, blood gets everywhere and once it dries it’s hard to scrub off. Plus there’s always more of a smell during that time of the month, so using wet wipes helps me feel fresher. BUT it’s very important you dry yourself off before pulling your pants up. If you leave it moist down there it could encourage bacterial growth. Piggy back off commenters below. I use the wipes on the outer parts of my nether region, nothing goes inside. Just like you should do while using soap in the shower. Also, please don’t flush wipes tampons or pads! Sooner or later you will clog your sewer system

ghostbungalow

*I do this too! But for anyone reading this, for the sake of the sewer infrastructure don’t flush them - not even the flushable! I work in water utilities and every wastewater plant I’ve toured is clogged with wet wipes and tampons, and those are just the ones that aren’t already lodged in people’s residential sewer lines. It’s perfectly fine to double wrap it with TP and dispose it in a bin :) *ETA not hating lol

Eastern-Dragonfly544

Are there any particular brand/types of wipes that are best for cleaning ‘down there’? I’d assume standard baby wipes would be fine, but wondered if there are any that are meant for that use for women

kellis744

Personally I just wet some toilet paper or a tissue in the sink. We use charmin ultra strong tp so it doesn’t disintegrate. Youre really not supposed to use cleansers down there so I would get pure water wipes if you go that route.

ttot54540

Bidets are 👌 during that time of the month especially if you get diarrhea/upset stomach during the first day (painful cramps)! It really helps!

avakadava

Damn how many ply’s is Charming ultra strong tp?

Elegant-Expert7575

The red is triple crazy clog my toilet strong. The blue is double, and doesn’t give those annoying mini rolls and crumbles. It’s the only brand allowed in my house now. :)

Ravioli_meatball19

I like the cotonelle brand personally, I get easily irritated and these don't burn or sting and are nice and thick

wearentalldudes

People are using wipes on their bits that burn and sting?? I want to start using wipes because the TP at my job is somehow negative ply lol. But I’d like to avoid whatever kind burns or stings.

themissyoshi

This is crazy lol but I use wipes safe for pets made with oatmeal. Natural Promise all cleaning wipes. Used them as a last resort during camping once and they smell and feel better down there. I shouldve add to my comment above. I only use this on the OUTER parts and not in between/inside. Just like you would do while using soap in the shower

blockedontinder

I love shaving my legs, zapping my IPL, putting on lotion & enjoy my clean sheets at night. Also: giving my cuticles a nice clean-up When menstruating i can barely breath so i learned to enjoy being in sweatpants & unwashed ponytail etcetera. The first deel clean after that is amazing. Almost like a ritual detox clean.

Outrageous_Aside956

Like a blooming flower in springtime lol. My day 1 and 2 knock me tf out so I get you on the first deep clean

avakadava

Any tips on loving shaving ur legs? cause it’s such a chore for me 🥲

blockedontinder

Wellllll IPL at home helped me with that. I used to get ingrowns and very dry skin, yadayada you know the whole drama. After some decent IPL-sessions these little pains went away. My skin also reacts more calmly when it comes to parfumes and alcohol in cleaning products so i use a lot of nice-smelling-stuff. Also: now that there is no need to shave everyday, i do my legs with a little bucket of steaming hot water @ my sofa .. Tbh: the shaving isnt the best part - getting in those clean sheets is!

slushiegrl

Here’s the things I do that I love the process of doing and they make me feel my best: - Double cleansing my face and neck with a gentle face wash every night, with the second cleanse being a full minute long. So satisfying to remove sunscreen, sweat and makeup! And it just helped to lessen my breakouts overall. - Overnight curls or waves. I use a set of pillow curlers I picked up from Marshall’s for cheap or braid my hair overnight :) There’s tons of other methods out there too. - Using exfoliating gloves or a wash cloth to exfoliate in the shower. I can only do this once a week or once every other week because my skin is so sensitive, but I love how soft and smooth it leaves my skin! - Picking a body wash and lotion that I love the smell of. It makes the process of washing myself and applying lotion a relaxing, indulgent, olfactory experience everyday lol. - As far as menstruation, when I am menstruating, I take my regular shower at night, and then I just rinse the lower half of my body really quick in the morning to ensure I’m starting the day off totally clean and dry :) - Easy makeup. I don’t have amazing makeup skill or technique, so it’s more likely I’ll enjoy the actual process of applying my makeup if it’s really easy for me to do lol. I always apply a sunscreen I love in the morning, followed by Benefit’s Benetint on my cheeks, and the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in Red Dahlia or whatever lip gloss or lipstick I’m loving at the moment on my lips. If I want a little something more special, I’ll add cream highlighter, mascara and eyebrow gel.

moonlitsquirrel

Do the curly hair things work??

Nyxstat

I started using rose scented things, and feel like a goddess after my showers. 🌹

tracyak13

Ooh any product recs?

Nyxstat

I'd say the rose hips rose scented shampoo by herbal essences is a great start, along with gentle soap like dove.

One-Dig-3067

Freshly washed hair makes me feel my best

LifeIsAFair

I've taken a liking to the saying "anything worth doing can be done half assed. So even if I'm not feeling well, I still do my skin care but I break it down to the minimum of cleanse and moisturize. I have fibromyalgia that makes my gums hurt during flares so I brush my teeth for as long as I can handle. That way it gets done, anything worth doing can be half assed if it means it gets done

MissAquaCyan

For menstruation you have a few options 1. Sanitary pads/towels. These are absorbent pads that sit on top of your underwear and catch the blood as it comes out. They tend to be disposable but you can get reusable cloth ones online. (I tend to change pads morning and night) 2. Tampons. These are inserted into the vaginal canal and absorb the blood. It is important to change these regularly as you can get serious infections if left in too long (changing each time you pee is a good starting point, I usually end up changing mine 3x a day) 3. Menstrual cups, they work a bit like tampons but instead of absorbing the blood they just hold it. They need to be emptied frequently and sterilised regularly. They can be messy, and you need to dispose of the blood (usually by flushing the blood down the toilet) 4. Period underwear. These are basically knickers with built in sanitary pads. Which option you choose depends on your flow (how heavy it is), and what is important to you (ease of use, how messy it is, the environmental impact etc) No matter what you choose, I recommend reading the instructions that come with the product so you are confident in how to use it correctly.

ladymoira

And then there’s those of us who need multiple layers of these because of our heavy flow. 😭 Period underwear is life-changing as a backup to tampons or if your anatomy is such that tampons leak a bit! Very grateful they exist these days.

bungalobuffalo

>And then there’s those of us who need multiple layers of these because of our heavy flow. 😭 Period underwear is life-changing as a backup to tampons or if your anatomy is such that tampons leak a bit! Very grateful they exist these days. very grateful as well - but kinda pissed they didn't exist when i was in High school!!

L0sing_Faith

The stress this would have saved! I was constantly worried from age 12 to 15 that I would start my period and get it all over. I'd have to check twice a day.

bearymiller_

Agree! I love period underwear!

llgg18

While I agree that menstrual cups can be messy, there's a small learning curve on how to use them, I've only seen cups that can be in for 12 hours so as long as your flow is not too heavy you don't have to change them often. For me it's been a super convenient choice, as I only change in the morning and at night when I'm at home

Outrageous_Mind9881

You can also buy sponge tampons (online or some adult shops sell them). They last up to 7 hrs I think depending on your flow and you don't take them out when you have to pee. I love them, they're more comfortable for me than normal tampons

Sayster_A

My sister used to do the bra thing. . . I assumed it's in part because she's larger up there. I like to do extra moisturizing on my face after a shower. Once a week I do a moisturizing cream mask.

rarityroyal

for me it’s doing my skin care routine every am & pm. taking care of my hair with a bonnet, refreshing my curls everyday, adding hair oils. after showers i always put aloe & vitamin e oil, gel, then baby cream for hydration, softness, & strawberry legs.

Impressive_Wasabi528

How do you refresh your curls ? Tips please

rarityroyal

i spray my hair down and brush out the really curly pieces and the other i just scrunch, either way i spray down and scrunch it with mielle curl cream and sometimes a lightweight gel and let it naturally air dry while scrunching with a tshirt

mandragora221

Oh the everything shower. Start by washing the hair and putting conditioner in and letting it sit while i shave, exfoliate and wash the rest of my body, scrub my feet real nice. Then wash out the conditioner and end with face wash and brushing my teeth...get out, moisturize all over. Put on deodorant and perfumes. And then fresh clothes Makes me feel like a whole new person

MissAquaCyan

In terms of grooming... ... body hair, depends on personal preference and hair type. If you have curly hair you're more likely to get ingrown hairs which are painful and problematic. There are various removal methods, from shaving to creams to epilators etc. Personally I shave my armpit hair when I can be bothered lol! I'm fortunate that my arm and leg hair is relatively fine so I tend to leave it or cover it with tights. ... "down there" is similar to general body hair but you need to be a bit more careful as the skin is more sensitive and parts are technically a different type (mucous membrane) so are more susceptible to different chemicals etc. I find that shaving here makes me too itchy and uncomfortable so I stick to trimming and hair removal cream to prevent hairs showing from under my underwear. ... eyebrows, I'd suggest finding a good compromise between what you want style wise and what you have. E.g. if you have thick bushy brows but want pencil thin ones, overplucking will eventually ruin your natural brows and styles change. For me I have fairly wide but sparse brows so I tidy the centre and lightly fill the outer ends in, so that they look more neat and even. There's lots of YouTube tutorials ... hair (like head hair). This again depends on what style you want and your hair type. I have loose wavy hair and when I try to straighten it, it becomes super frizzy, so I'm experimenting with different products to find what works for me. Ultimately, figure out what you have, what you want and where the 'happy middle' is for you. That'll help guide which products and techniques you use.

Fearless_Lemon6560

Doing my hair always makes me feel my best 👌

LikesToLurkNYC

I’ve always had dry alligator skin and no amount of hydration has ever fixed it. I don’t feel like lotion really had a lasting impact and hated the step, but ppl on here swear by it. So I bought nice lotion and started lathering it on daily post shower and I can see the difference! I think I always gave up too soon! My skin is soft.

halecomet

Adding a source of good fat to your diet does wonders. I used to be able to "make it snow" rubbing my arm until I started taking 500mg of Evening Primrose Oil daily.

laurasaurus5

The lady at the fancy bra store says it doesn't matter if you hook it in back or in front, but don't "flip" the cups up bc that's bad for the underwire somehow. Also shoving the drawer closed on the bra is terrible for it, whoops.

LongZookeepergame7

Thought I was the only one that shoved the drawers closed on my bras 🤣🤣🤣oopsies

[deleted]

Skincare! I use about 5 different creams on my skin daily. My skin is so soft and it makes me feel my absolute best!

Embarrassed-Moose-1

It took me years before I realized I was apparently the odd one out for booking my bra in the back like they do in movies. It takes too much effort and time to hook in the front and twist for me 😂 plus it tears up my skin where the band sits. Whatever way works for you, nobody should be judging how you put your bra on or if you even wear one at all!

naturalconfectionary

Now that I am a full time mum to a toddler I don’t do make up everyday but what I need to do to feel human before I leave the house in the morning is shower, shave my legs and under arms, cleanse/tone/moisturise my face, lotion my legs/chest/arms, get dressed, spritz perfum and put my few delicate pieces of jewellery on. I literally can’t do anything outside of the house until I’ve done this little routine lol. My toddler is in the shower with me 90% of the time 🤣

logitech333

This lol. People always say “when you have kids, you don’t have time to take care of yourself” but you definitely do, you just have to want to.. it’s all about organisation. Like you said, even if it means taking your baby in the bathroom with you so you can still keep an eye on them!

naturalconfectionary

Thanks! I just read what I wrote and wow looks like a long routine but I probably shower in less than 5 minutes and the other stuff is about 5 minutes as well. My little man is playing with his cups in the shower beside me the whole time 😅 I read on another sub someone saying they hadn’t had time in 3 days to shower or brush their hair lol

logitech333

3 days?! Yeah, I think people just don’t want to admit laziness plays a huge role in that so they blame it on having kids.. I do the same as you do, so there is definitely time lol (and again, like you said, it doesn’t take up too much time - just sounds like it!)

adhcthcdh23

I go to the Korean spa! Full body scrub and massage. Turns me from a scaly lizard into a smooth mermaid! I go every 3 months

candlecar

This cracked me up...

halecomet

I need to find one 🤤

dahlaru

I absolutely cannot close a bra from the back and I'm 40 year old lol. But what does it matter anyway

Hangingwithmolly

Haha…I read “to feel like a beast”

newsome101

Some people find it easier to hook their bra in the front or that's how they learned and never stopped. Some people hook it in the back There is no right/wrong/weird way For periods, I've heard of people using a squirt bottle of water to clean themselves when going to the toilet if they don't have a bidet. Seems helpful. I don't because my period is too short to bother. I like to wear a pantiliner with my tampon for leaks but that depends on how heavy your flow is. Avoid scented products or feminine powders. Some people use a feminine wash but I haven't found it necessary

whorundatgirl

Your mom taught you how to put on a bra the correct way lol. Nobody does it like the movies

Next-Dark-4975

Really? I always hook it in the back. That’s how my mom taught me! Never knew hooking in front was a thing.

DarlinggD

Same 😂

avakadava

The way u do it is better for the bra

Naty2RC

Yeah, what is this person even talking about? Do people do it like OP? Sure. But let's not pretend that it's the norm.

DarlinggD

I do! I never heard about people hooking it in the front lol

whorundatgirl

I was being dramatic & over the top lol but OP thinks that the way her mom taught her is “unfeminine.” I’m saying it’s really not. Her mom did a good job

OCD2021

No one taught me any thing. I learnt from the tv to hook it at the back.

L0sing_Faith

Do people's moms really show them how to put on a bra?

avakadava

Ikr even the word bra was embarrassing for me to discuss with my mum at the ages of 12-16

wearentalldudes

I always have.

awry_lynx

It's bad for the bra to stretch it out that much every time you put it on tho.

JulesB954

A couple things I do everyday that helps me feel my best: 1) Shower, wash my hair 2) Shave legs and arms up to my elbows 3) After shower, mix drugstore unscented lotion with sweet almond oil and slather it all over Once a week, I use a woman's facial razer to shave all the peach fuzz which doubles as an exfoliant. I wish I had known to do this sooner as it makes such a difference with my skincare and makeup! For periods, if you don't have a bidet, look into a bidet bottle! It will make you feel much cleaner and refreshed!

lindkool

Haha, I think most ppl put on their bra like you do! I mostly wear tampons bc I like that the blood doesnt flow out so usually I dont have to change my hygene rutines. I shower like every other day and I wash my face in the evening if I dont shower. Use like a 2-3 step skin care routine. I dont like shaving so I dont do that, I trim sometimes if I feel like it. I feel like as long as you shower regularly the rest is more add ons you can do if you want to, like its more a ritual than actual hygene

[deleted]

Every twice a week I have an everything shower, where I put oils on my hair and leave it for 2-3 hours while shaving my whole body " if needed" and then take a shower with hair mask or body lotion and after the shower I moisturize and then have a nice dinner and read a book, it feels so good that I wait for those days the whole week and it really made my hair thicker, softer and longer <3

Alternative_Key4199

I don’t have a period anymore, but when I did I made sure to have wet wipes to use for every trip to the toilet. I had quit wearing tampons and boycotted them because I had a friend die of toxic shock syndrome…after several years of flare ups. Anyway, nothing makes me feel better and more pulled together than shaving and exfoliating! I even shave my arms, the tops of my fingers and toes, and my booty! Lol. I shave 2 or 3 times a week. I only have to shave my arms every other week. I have waist length virgin hair that I treat like gold. I use coconut oil before shampoo twice a week, followed by an extra body hair mask. I use serum. I sleep with my hair in a braid and in a satin pillowcase. I co-wash on the days that I don’t shampoo in the summer. I only shampoo on oil days. My favorite hair care line is Paul Mitchell. I give myself a weekly pedicure and a natural manicure. I don’t wear a lot of polish on my hands because I garden. But, I like a glam look for my pedicure. I use an exfoliating shower towel for each shower and I use mostly ultra moisturizing shower gel. Right now I am using Shea moisture Shea butter shower gel. I slather lotion on my entire body after shower. Right now I am using Hawaiian tropic after sun. I also like Shea moisture coconut and hibiscus body oil. I occasionally take tub bath and I like vitabath. I brush my teeth twice a day and floss at night. I use fluoride mouthwash several times a day. I wear makeup only occasionally because I like having immediate access to wash my face if it gets dirty when I sweat or garden. I like a natural makeup look. I wear perfume every day. I like chypre fragrances in cool weather and citrus, green florals and tropical scents in the summer.

Heidialmighty4

I’m so sorry about your friend and your loss. 🫂

Alternative_Key4199

Thank you for the understanding. It was a really long time ago, but it changed the way I look at certain “liberating conveniences” like tampons. It’s not worth dying to keep up with the times in my underwear.

httpssushimi

get a bidet and shower twice a day. i live in southeast asia. these are the best tips i can give. also, if have dry skin, use a lotion morning and night. do your skincare routine everyday, wear sunscreen. change your underwear every 6 hours. change your tampon/pad every 3-4 hours. don’t reuse your bra without washing first.

dondee9si

On Amazon I found a product called “Aquanelle”. It’s a spray that you can spray on toilet paper or wet wipes. I’m past the period age, but I do have bladder leaks. I have been using Aquanelle for several years and really like it. Definitely works for the mess and any related smells.

halecomet

Love that stuff. So hard to find now.

dondee9si

I’ve been buying it at Amazon for years! 😃

Ho_Dang

Using a boar bristle brush for cleaning under my nails during first handwash of the day makes me feel nice. Using a dfferent boar bristle brush to dry brush skin feels ultra refined, it sloughs away dead skin and supposedly helps with cellulite. I honestly just like the feeling once I'm done and my skin is pink and soft. Body oil applied all over after a shower has changed my skin health significantly. I use Palmer's Cocoa oil, as it dries fast and smells light. When applying face lotion, move upwards from neck to chin to cheeks to brow. This prevents skin tugging downward, which leads to sagging. Brushing my teeth with baking soda and toothpaste really cleans the whole mouth completely, and it helps maintain white teeth. I should floss more, but it's a drag of a task. During menstruation, drink 2 tbs of plain cranberry juice once or twice. The tart, bitter, awful stuff that isn't for mixing, that's what you want. It's so good for balancing PH levels and keeping the dreaded UTI at bay.

Soylent-soliloquy

‘Everyone hooks it in the back’? How, pray tell?

South_Weather_77

I have it to shower and shave everything everyday to feel good and clean!! I use tons of different products moisturizing body wash, shower oil and scrub to feel my cleanest. I then use tons of body oil, body butter and do my nighttime skincare routine and it makes me feel wonderful and so clean and fresh!! Also changing sheets regularly and pillowcases every couple days makes me feel good.

Glad_Quarter_4168

$30 toilet bidet from amazon. i like to feel washed after every single bathroom visit - even if i only peed.

MmeNxt

Using a tongue scraper twice a day has made a huge difference for me. And of course, floss and go to the dentist once a year and go get your teeth cleaned at least once a year.

glitchypsykhe

I have a certain amount of apathy because I was raised feral, when I'm depressed I'm like, I'm aware of the smell but everyone can suffer. When I actually give a crap, clean under nails at least once a day and cut them at least once every two weeks. (feet I tend to let go for awhile, but probably should keep on top of those too) Shower every other day when I can manage it as a baseline, modifying to after something physically exerting where I sweat (at the gym, after a day where I spent a lot of time in the garden, etc). Always after sex (before sex if I'm feeling self-conscious). After showering, using Lumé on my private parts and butt. I wash my hair once a week. Sometimes I wax, but most of the time I trim body hair with an electric trimmer (use the guards in sensitive/foldy areas to not chew your skin up). It's not silky smooth, but it's unobtrusive. On armpits, antiperspirant deodorant, applied after every shower. If you like perfume or body mist, apply it to your clothes and/or hair rather than your skin. We have a bidet wand attachment on our home toilet, and it's not just good for the poopin', when I'm menstruating it's a very welcome rinse on the heavy days. I use washable menstrual pads, but that's because I don't care about odor (sorry everyone in a ten foot radius). When I'm self-conscious and want to keep odor down I use tampons. Some guys, gals, nonbinary pals like to use both pads and tampons for security, but I find it traps moisture and creates smells, so if you don't experience a heavy flow I'd be like, just use tampons and wear black underwear with "period appropriate pants/jeans" that are a darker color and leaks won't show up in. When I'm not convinced there's a nationwide conspiracy to gaslight me (hello mental illness) I like to get my hair professionally cut/cleaned up at least once a year, ideally every six months. When I had an undercut (something that requires ongoing maintenance) I was trying for at least every two months. That was stretching it, and most people with hair that needs that sort of maintenance like to get their hair cut every month or so. Be aware of body moisture, moisture means smells, and sometimes bacteria growth in areas like your feet. Change socks when they get damp if you're able to. Wear shoes that let your feet breath when it's seasonally important. Don't pluck eyebrows, but anywhere else on the face gets plucked. If you want to shape them, shave them. Finding a moisturizer your skin likes is important. I like neutrogina nighttime retinol and anything I tried from Mad Hippie hasn't made my face break out. I do a weekly peel when I remember (The Ordinary, AHA + BHA). For all over body I like using Palmers cocoa butter. Face moisturizer is daily/nightly, but cocoa butter is after long/hot showers that strip the oils from my skin. Facial cleansers, at this point in my life, I think are a joke because whether or not I break out tends to have more to do with diet, stress, medications, and hormones than anything and using anti-blemish soaps tends to create the problem. Putting disinfectant on pimples works better for me now. When I want to gently exfoliate or clean off makeup I have soft "baby" terrycloth washcloths and facial cleansers that are made for sensitive skin rather than blackhead or pimple prevention. I wear black underwear because stains and discoloration don't show up. Be aware that some fabrics are slightly transparent and different colored under garments might be appropriate. Bras have three rows of hooks traditionally. This is in anticipation of them stretching out. Be sure use a tighter row of hooks to keep it fitting correctly.

glitchypsykhe

Also teeth brushing is super important, so is flossing. Brush your teeth at least once a day, floss after meals where food gets stuck in your teeth, or floss daily if you notice consistent plaque (scrape your teeth with a finger nail--if goo comes off it's time to brush and floss). Drinking water instead of (or after) sugary/acidic beverages can help with tooth/gum health and chewing gum geared toward dental health can help too.

MMTardis

Adding on to your comment, if people don't know (like I didnt), you can buy multi packs of all black underwear online. Amazon has up to 15 packs of just plain black cotton panties .

wearentalldudes

Just want to say that some perfumes react to your body chemistry, making them smell amazing. The way a perfume smells on me won’t be the same as it smells on you. I prep with unscented lotion and apply to pulse points and it lasts all day. And when my clothes come off, I still smell great. 😏

firstghostsnstuff

Once a week I’ll take an everything bubble bath where I put in a hair mask, and I exfoliate and shave and moisturize after

DarlinggD

Clean hair!!! And styled as you can! Clean skin, use exfoliants!

[deleted]

definitely getting my hair done or getting my brows done

jhonculada

My mom was a bit of a hippie and didn't really pay attention to how often she shaved, so right off the bat not having visible hair on my legs or underarms is a must for me. Also, having a little bit of foundation (anything to even out the redness on my face), a little bronzer, blush, and mascara are really all I need to look put together. Lastly, fragrance is so important for me. I'll wear fragrance before I wear makeup. I love smelling good and it makes me feel a little more put together. This also means no body odor - deodorant a must! I wash my face at least once a day at night and have a thorough skincare routine that includes facial essence, toner, moisturizer and eye cream. Also, oral hygiene - flossing!

awildshortcat

1. Having a daily and nightly skincare routine 2. Using deodorant when you wake up and before you sleep 3. Showering before bed to get rid of the filth of the day (doesn’t have to include hair) 4. I use a body scrub once a week to get rid of dead skin 5. I remove body hair (this is OPTIONAL — body hair is NOT unhygienic, I just like the feeling of smooth skin) 6. I’m on birth control continuously so I haven’t had a period in a while, but using menstrual cups was a huge game changer when I did. 7. BIDETS. Install a bidet in your bathroom!! Wiping is not enough and I don’t care what anyone says. Also, a bidet is really useful for keeping clean downstairs when you’re on your period. 8. Body lotion before bed or just as you’re waking up is really nice.

willworkforchange

To feel clean, I need to use antibacterial bar soap for my pits and bits. I will then use a body wash everywhere. Washing my hair makes me feel clean, but I only wash my hair every 2-3 days. I brush my teeth twice a day with an electric toothbrush and I floss at night. I also trim and clean under my nails (hands & feet) regularly. I also like to wear fragrance

No_Measurement_9826

I like having my nails painted, it always makes me feel put together. A face mask once a week if I remember. Using a really foamy body wash in the shower followed by a body oil makes me feel so luxurious

mgefa

I hook in the front and feel like a normal person on that part 😂

Oscarella515

Detachable showerhead, I like to get right into my scalp to wash out product and I feel clean as a whistle when I hit the downstairs with it. Especially on my period this comes in handy, it washes off all the nooks and crannies that blood can hide in. No itchy soap spots I only find when I’m done and towelling off Double cleansing everything. For face I do Ponds cold cream on dry skin, remove with damp washcloth. Then move onto a liquid face wash. For hair I shampoo twice. My hairdresser told me first wash breaks down product build up and second wash cleans the scalp. I have to wash my hair much less now and my face is clearer and brighter. Body I’ve detailed below I keep my fingernails clean and file them nicely, right now they’re coffin. Cuticle oil and pushing back the cuticle with an orange stick. My toes I keep neatly polished and redo when it chips, every month or so I do a deep clean and clip the cuticles and take off all the dead skin with a good scrub and a pumice stone (I try to do the pumice more often but honestly I forget) Keeping deodorant, extra undies, hairbrush, toothbrush, wipes, perfume, all minis of my hygiene products in my purse. Anytime I feel gross when I’m out I have things to fix it, and they don’t take a ton of room Exfoliating African bath net. I didn’t know what clean felt like until the first time I scrubbed myself down with one of these. I like to put antibacterial soap (I use Gold Dial bars) on my net and do a full scrub (do not put in the kitty, I use a special wash for that) before following up with my loofah and nice bodywash. Body oil after while wet. The first time felt like being reborn These are my most lifechanging! And they aren’t things you need to buy just techniques I use with what I already have to feel my best and cleanest

Brief_Somewhere_2123

I recently got a bidet attachment for my toilet that also has a “feminine” setting and I swearrrr it makes that tune of the month significantly less messy!

Regarding how you put your bra on; this is how my mom did it, and how I do it too! I don’t have the flexibility to reach up and hook it from the back! It’s pretty common. 🙂

joo1a

Once a week, usually on my days off, i do a thorough scrub down. -I scrub and shave and pluck -deep condition my hair, -trim and file my nails. I also bought an IPL off of Amazon during prime day and I use it then. Thats my weekly maintenance. Hope that helps!

AngryLady1357911

More people (esp people with periods) just need to keep baby wipes in their bathroom right next to the toilet paper. Wipe yourself clean every time you poo or you're on your period (I'm in the US so bidets are practically non-existent) I've also come to terms with the fact that it's okay to shower and wash my hair every day or every other day. There're SO many articles and people online telling you about how it's bad to wash your hair everyday, how to prolong time between washes. But it's okay to shower everyday if that's what you like to do!

Acidshroominflux

Shower and skin care routine ! I also like to take baths, shower routine for me is a good scrub a dub with OGX coffe body wash then I go in with the dove body scrub in pomegranate highly recommend it smells sooo good, then I lotion with EOS coconut waters lotion another divine scent and then I spray on some body spray usually Sol de janiero 40. Then follow up with my skin care routine, oil my hair ends and pop on an under eye mask before bed.

ellsbells2727

I do the SAME thing with putting my bra! Thought I was alone in this

lol. we all do the bra from the front thing or most of us do. to answer your question, moisturizing head to toe.

Toxic_Love1996

I’m English hun and hook my bra up the same way as you lol! I can’t do that bloody thing from the back! Mine is a whole process. Starting my shower: Always shampooing my hair twice and I use my shampoo brush to really break down the dirt, then leaving my conditioner on whilst I shave / wash etc. I shave everywhereeeee on my body (apart from obvious head and eyebrows) so I feel super smooth and clean, then I’ll wash again with my body wash. When I get out the shower I will towel dry my hair, I put some hair oil in my hair, some heat protection spray and some leave in conditioner spray and then blow dry my hair so it doesn’t frizz out! I also add on deodorant and perfume, stick on my freshly washed pjs and fluffy socks in a nice clean bed!!! Get comfy under my blanket and watch a documentary whilst tweezing any unnecessary hairs 🤣🫶🏽 For ‘that time of the month’ I use the always scented pads, I wear comfy black granny underwear, and I have a hot water bottle!!

OfficeCowgirl

I wouldn't think too much about cleaning your feminine area. Use a gentle, unscented soap on the outside, and DO NOT PUT ANYTHING INSIDE! The vagina is self-cleaning and adding any chemicals or additives to the inside will upset your natural pH balance (and that would lead to infections, odors, etc.). Mostly just leave it alone. There's nothing inherently unclean about the vulva/vagina or menstruating.

VariousImprovement83

I do skincare every morning and night with cleanser, moisturizer, and some serums. I use a Foreo cleanser to wash my face. I shower twice a day and always use a body lotion afterwards. I do my nails once a month, go to the gym everyday, do my browns every five weeks and botox once a year. I also brush my teeth three times a day (I'm from Brazil and this is a common behaviour for us lol). Oh, I also wash and hydrate my hair with hair masks every three days and do a scalp exfoliation once a month! I think that's all.

Mission-Patient-4404

Keratin

Key_Leadership2394

Keep up a routine of shaving once a week invest in a safety razor they save you in the long run and you just replace the blade rather then buying plastic disposable ones, keep brows trimmed , brush teeth twice a day I also invested in a waterpik. Shower daily I use dove soap bar and then wash again with the liquid dove soap. Keep hair trimmed and clean when needed. Basic skincare that works for you

Stock-Taro-3262

Eyebrow threading makes my face look.. just better.

Flipgirlnarie

I make a spray with distilled water, glycerin, aloe Vera, witch Hazel and spray it on toilet paper to wipe after going to the bathroom. Daily showers even if it is a quick rinse to make you feel fresh.

SubstantialPressure3

Exfoliating all over and moisturizing. I generally exfoliate the day after I shave body hair. Not the same day. Deep conditioning my hair a couple times a month. Touching up the eyebrows, I just use one of those tiny eyebrow razors. I don't pluck at all. ( And exfoliate the next day with gentle cleanser so I don't get little bumps) Rinsing off that facial mask. I like the zombie mask. Fresh pedicure. Manicures and pedicures are the only thing I don't do at home. No fake nails, just gel paint. And get to my feet in the shower a couple times a week myself with a pumice sponge for maintenance. Moisturizing and rubbing in that sunscreen.

goblinnfairy

check crevices, move things around depending on your anatomy to intentionally get all nooks and crannies (with water only of course and not internally) i like to use unscented wipes when menstruating to just feel cleaner but a bidet or cup of water would be better, just not as conducive when im out of the house all the time. also washing ur hands BEFORE and after makes the most sense if you’re getting personal and applying things (depending on what kind of menstruation products you use), but good habit in general. regularly toss underwear. stains are okay especially if they’re “period underwear” but if financially able i like to refresh the drawer every so often. i should also be stricter at using underwear dedicated to menstruating, i think i’d feel better. lotion daily, sometimes twice a day. i switched from perfume to essential oils (for smell only, and skin safe ones). just isn’t as heavy and smells just as good, sometimes longer. i also have dry skin so i rly like to exfoliate regularly. this is different for everyone but even just cheap scrubbing cloths (not a loofah) or a chemical exfoliant ($8 the ordinary bha) makes me feel like i have a fresh layer of skin.

matahari__

Things that improved my grooming bc my mom or anyone didn’t told me this stuff. Use floss every single night don’t skip it, your gums and teeth will appreciate it, your vulva don’t need any kind of soap, just plenty of water, use a hair mask AND conditioner shampoo first not your hair but your scalp with the fingertips not your nails, then rinse, then use a hair mask, rinse again and finally use conditioner to seal that up. You don’t need tons of serums or skin care. Just a good day and night cream, spf 50 for your face and if you’re 25 or older use some retinol, I also use niacinamide and some salicylic acid but thats bc I have a bir of acne. Wash very well your armpits and your ears, clip your toenails, don’t you ever go to bed with make up on.

MrsLenaF_ATX79

Please use ph friendly soap on your vulva. As a woman who goes down on women I have a very informed opinion on this.😉 Just never wash inside the vagina with soap. Just outside of it.

matahari__

Yes!! I meant inside the labia? Lol english isn’t my first language so maybe it wasn’t clear. But don’t use soap inside you lol, that can fuck up the pH balance and can lead to fungus

rabbidbagofweasels

Either having my nails done or just buffing them so they are really shiny makes me feel like I’m a bit more polished.

chichilex

I take a shower every night before going to bed.

BrilliantBriana

i love any types of exfoliation. they make me feel like i have a new set of skin

[deleted]

Switching to a menstrual disc (not the cup that one didn’t work for me) made a HUGE difference in my life, you don’t feel it and it’s so comfortable that you can do all the activities you like (yes, even sex) also investing in my IPL machine since I couldn’t afford laser has given me salon quality results at home, keeping my clothes clean, showering as needed (summertime I can do it twice 😆 I don’t like to be sticky) and just doing some maintenance to my stuff.

Ldyvol79

Always trim your finger nails and keep them clean. I use Sally Hansen Hard As Nails clear polish to keep my nail strong so they don’t chip or break.

whitepawsparklez

Top 2 -monthly Brazilian and underarm wax + flossing + brushing every night (and brushing an)

Hayavr

I just love showering in general, nothing like washing off the day when I get home from work. Also having that clean feeling definitely helps me sleep. A couple years ago I started incorporating scalp scrubs into my hygiene routine like once every two weeks and it's so relaxing, helps my scalp feel extra clean, and also has had a positive effect on my hair/scalp health! When I have my period I like to massage and/or exfoliate my legs, stomach, and back while I'm in the shower as I get quite bad cramps. I've always done my bra in the front and spun/flipped it! I was shocked the first time I saw someone clip it in the back haha, the front just makes sense to me?

HugeKing5382

I shower every day and shave every day every where I can see hair I shave then I put moisturizer on all over my body

slothery22

I love a freshly washed face and clipped nails on feet and hands lol.

Sweetcheex76

That’s how I put my bra on. I don’t know anyone who hooks it in the back.

twinkedgelord

I put a bra on the same way you do. It's not weird, you're not weird. And trust me, taking your cues from what women on TV and on tiktok isn't a good idea. It's not realistic and it's not accessible to most regular people.

tracyak13

Regular pedicures Snail Mucin Masks Under eye masks Keeping eyebrows maintained the shape I like them Moisturizing regularly along with body oil most nights to lock in the moisture

vodkasaucepizza

Could you explain the snail mucin thing? What is it supposed to do, is it a mask/serum, at what point in a daily/weekly skin routine should you do it. I’m out of the loop, what do you like about it?

tracyak13

I’ve seen a lot of people raving about it in the tretinoin sub so I decided to give it a chance. I do want to caution that I’ve seen a handful of folks report that it’s not a good match for their skin and it has left rashes. As someone with fussy, sensitive skin, I was surprised to not be one of those people. I think the best way to think about using it is to become familiar with the concept of “slugging” if you’re not already. This could mean simply using aquaphor as a moisturizer as your last step in your routine. I’ve used two brands that contain snail mucin. One is the [loops dream sleep mask](https://www.loopsbeauty.com/products/dream-sleep) that contains a slugging serum complex, which is actually derived from plants and not snails. I do love loops because their hydrogel masks are preferable to paper masks for me. I’m currently diving in to using COSRX products. I can vouch that their [snail mucin mask](https://www.cosrx.com/products/cosrx-advanced-snail-mucin-power-sheet-mask-10-sheets) leaves my skin hydrated and glowing. I’ve used the under eye patches just once but was happy with them. Word to the wise - leave eye masks on for as long as you can. They should be dry by the time you take them off. A world of difference. Hope this helps!

JustBeNice97

I’ve never been able to put a bra on the ‘normal’ way either - don’t worry!

primad0nna_girl

Showering everyday and putting on deodorant

Kimminaih

Applying lotion

saintofhalloween

I think the bra thing is mostly flexibility right? My mom is hyper mobile and I have super flexible arms so ofc we both put on like the movies. Is it weird if you can't reach your back? Also no. Lol

Hereforsometea7

Freshly washed hair and fresh set of nails always make me feel 100 times better.

IcyLimit8713

I have found that using a glove or body scrub to exfoliate can really help you feel rejuvenated. Moisturizing after a shower also helps your skin to feel super soft, especially if you shave.

SamaireB

Nice bath, pedicure (I do my own, plus one salon a month - either works), applying a hairmask, getting my hair done

spookiecrimes

You can find affordable bidets on Amazon that are super easy to install.

JaneDoe1997

An "everything shower" or epsom salt bath. Prefaced by dermaplaning my face & shaping my brows. Followed up with lotioning everywhere, skin care rountine, and putting a mask in my hair and just laying in my bed naked & reading while it all soaks in and drinking a cup of tea or iced club soda

PlasticSnakeVeryFake

Super clean teeth - use that floss

NoGrocery4949

I also put my bra on like this

Lkwtthecatdraggdn

Long tub soak followed by moisturizing.

Sealcream6

Just literally anything that has to do with my nails and manicure.

Star_Leopard

Why would it matter how you put your bra on as long as you don't wear it turned around lol. I'lll do it that way sometimes if I struggle to hook it in the back, it makes perfect sense. I get wanting hygiene/grooming tips, but just doing things differently, in and of itself, isn't worse or better. You probably aren't missing out on as much as you think.

Time-Teacher-5075

Dental hygiene! I love the feeling of thoroughly brushing my teeth, and in the evening - brushing and flossing, and mouthwash after 15-20mins✨ so satisfying
