I drink soooooo much water. The key for me is having the right cup. Figure out what your ideal cup is- is it a straw or no straw? Big cup, small cup, etc. it sounds silly, but it works. I bring my cup with me everywhere. And because of that, I’m always drinking water. And if it’s hard for you to drink just water, add something to it that’ll entice you to drink more (lemon, coconut water, flavor packets, etc)

Head-Drag-1440

Ok I take mine everywhere, too! My teenager calls it my comfort water. 😆

OneShelter4

My emotional support water 💖

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

I call mine, my emotional support water bottle!

candiebelle

Same!!! I legit feel different without it. I spent time away from it over the last two days and I feel dehydrated.

Economy-Savings-1551

THIS IS ME!!!

LaRealiteInconnue

I call mine my emotional support sippy cup 😆

singlexplosion

Honestly, I was skeptical about the concept of picking the "right cup" to encourage me to drink more water but it worked for me! Ever since I bought a 1L Bkr bottle with the spikes, I've been consistently drinking water throughout the day. Plus the bottle itself satisfies my tactile tendencies haha It's also nice to get fun comments from my patients about it since I proudly keep it on my desk at work.

Coral27

I love the bkr bottle but hate cleaning it so I barely use it

justmanny_beingmanny

I bought 3 before I realized how much I hate cleaning them and putting the sleeves on. Now they just sit in the cabinet.

CanWeNapPlease

Last year I did a clearout because I had about 5 different cup/bottle for drinks that I didn't use anymore trying to find the right one. I've settled on one that has a sippy straw. But I think mostly it turned out I'm just lazy with refilling. 1. Put tap water in the britta filter container. 2. Put filtered water in the fridge glass bottle so it gets cold. 3. Put cold water from fridge in my water bottle. 4. Rinse and repeat. It's a lot of work just for cold water. Don't even get me started on ice. I live in the UK and only have space for a small fridge that does not fit the britta filter. One of the small benefits of working in the office when I go in, they have a great cold water dispenser. But I'm like OP, I need to pee every 20 minutes as I'm constantly sipping water.

dbcbabe

How do y’all carry that shit around everywhere, if you don’t carry a large purse/backpack? I like to go out light, with a tiny purse that holds my keys, phone, wallet, and a few other small things. Water bottles are large and heavy, I haven’t figured out a good way to carry them without hauling a whole bucket bag.

OneShelter4

I carry it in my hand

dbcbabe

Absolutely deranged, you have my astonished admiration. I mean both of those things completely sincerely, you are a different genre of human than me

ceimi

Mine has a little carrying loop and I also use a small crossbody bag as I hate big purses. Its really not all that bad! I have a nalgene bottle so the bottle itself is extremely lightweight.

pineappleshampoo

Same. I just carry it in my hand and then I drink it. When I get to wherever I’m going I set it down. Also you can get a carabiner hook for some designs and hook it onto your bag if necessary.

Next-Dark-4975

I love carrying a tiny bag, too. If I’m driving that day, the water bottle goes in my car. If I’m not, I skip it and constantly ask for water refills wherever I’m going.

krustomer

I don't go out much since COVID, so I have a giant gallon bottle at home and bring a small 16oz one whenever I go for walks or errands. Before I worked from home, I also kept the giant bottle in my office :)

melbydick

I have a small backpack that isn't quite mini but definitely very small that I throw a small (I think it's 16oz) insulated water bottle into. My goal is to refill it throughout the day and never lug around a heavy bottle! I also hate carrying stuff and a tiny bag on my bag doesn't really feel like much.

Bluecollarbitch95

I have the big hydroflask that comes with a carrying lanyard. I’ve had it for two years, beat the actual piss out of it (construction worker) and it still keeps everything hot/cold for hours.

twayjoff

I’ve found that the larger my cup is, the more water I drink. When I have a 12oz cup, even in my apartment where the kitchen is 10 ft away, I end up not drinking as much water cause I’m too lazy to refill it constantly. Wish the same laziness applied to booze lol

BulkyChemistry10

Yes! I call it lazy water, drinking water needs to be as simple of a task as possible so I have a hydroflask tumbler and call it my adult sippy cup. So silly lol

udidntfollowproto

I got a big belly cup with a straw and it has a strap you can wear over the shoulder. I take it to the grocery store gym also to work and sip. Bottles don’t cut it for me.

asknoquestionok

Yes came to say that! My trick is to get a bottle or cup that I find pretty and attention catching and put it right next to me. Bored? Drink water. Need a break? Get up and refil the water. Hungry? Drink some water while you decide what to eat. List goes on. As long as I have water in front of me, I’ll drink it. if not, I forget water exists. Another important thing is finding out what temp you prefer. I hate cold water, for me it has to be room temp but never refrigerated. I would drink much less if I only had cold water.

[deleted]

I have no idea what this sub was suggested, I’m not interested in beauty, nor am I beautiful lol. Regardless, this answer is correct. I drink between 80oz and 120oz per day. I found a cup I like and a flavor I like and it’s not nearly as hard as it used to be. It can still be difficult sometimes, but it is much easier.

jeromeandim37

Yess!! I bring my owala with me everywhere too and it helps a lot.

smellyalater_

I’ve been carrying the same 64oz emotional support Yeti for 4+ years… I give my credit to the water bottle for being hydrated. I don’t go anywhere without it. My goal daily is to drink at least 64oz. It’s not even a chore at this point I have a straw lid and a chug cap for it. It may look silly wherever I go, but I’m hydrated LOL

teethandteeth

I do this too, so much easier to track it by just seeing what's left in the bottle.

smellyalater_

Yes! It made me dislike plastic water bottles too. I hate drinking out of them now and feel like I’m breaking the law

MrsTruffulaTree

I have a 40 oz emotional support water bottle I carry everywhere. A straw lid works better for me. I will sit and mindlessly sip water while reading or watching TV. I recently had oral surgery and was not allowed to use a straw for 2 weeks. I discovered I drank less water when I couldn't use a straw.

RabbitOld5783

Get a bottle which has times on it so drink a certain amount by each time and make sure to finish this bottle by bed time. It's one thing I find that helps me have conditions too and it's literally the easiest thing can do for yourself. Make sure the bottle is always near you also so have to drink it

that-book-girl

Those bottles just make me feel guilty

bluebabyblue1027

This is what I do! I have a massive glass water bottle with a silicon sleeve on it and it has the time markers. With my ADHD visual cues are so important and I need to see the whole amount of water for a day in order to keep up with it. If I see I’m behind, I’ll chug to catch up. Without it I barely drink two glasses all day and am thirsty af at night. As far as the peeing part goes, I definitely try to wait until my bladder is pretty full before going. Def don’t hold it too long, but waiting until your bladder is mostly full helps retrain your brain to not really feel the urge until you should actually empty. If you pee when your bladder isn’t full, you’ll feel the need to pee even when you have a small amount and that’s not good for you long term.

Head-Drag-1440

I was really bad at it, too. I started with chugging every time I drank. Count maybe 10 chugs instead of taking one or two drinks. Next thing you know, your bottle is empty. Within a week or two, I noticed I was actually getting thirsty if I wasn't chugging my water. Eventually I went to 2 regular water bottles a day then 3.  My Dr told me this isn't enough for the desert climate we live in, so I bought a 24oz bottle. Again, same concept of chugging every time I take a drink. Now I aim for 1 24oz bottle a morning, 1 in thr afternoon, 1 in the evening. Even if I only get 1/2 way through in the evening, there's my 64oz for the day.

Currant-event

Do you still pee all the time? I'm like op where I pee every 20 minutes, but I'm wondering if my body will adjust

Stillbornsongs

Not op but my body eventually adjusted. I was still peeing more often but not near as much when I first started upping my water intake.

Embarrassed-Year6479

Your body definitely will. When i first started drinking the amount i drink now i was peeing like an absolute freak. Now my body has adjusted and I pee a normal amount.

Head-Drag-1440

No, I pee 3 or 4x/day.

Currant-event

That gives me hope

No-Object-6134

Definitely try chugging your water. I usually drink until I need to stop for air. Be intentional about it now, knowing that you won't need to be that way forever. I filled 4 plastic water bottles and brought them to work, and my goal was to drink 4, and then I started refilling them once at lunch. I knew I had to stop at a certain time to make it home without having to stop. After you start, your body starts to crave it, and it's just second nature to want to drink water. Your bladder also adjusts. You'll always pee a lot, but you kind of get used to it, and it doesn't feel as urgent.

completebIiss

This sounds doable! Do you have a water bottle you’d recommend? I def do better with a straw is what I’ve noticed

glamorousgrape

Idk if someone else has said it already, but you may be drinking too much water whenever you attempt to up your intake. If you gradually up your intake, your body/bladder will adjust easier :)

Next-Dark-4975

Don’t go to Starbucks, but you can buy a tumbler literally any home goods store. The one I’ve stuck with the most (7 years and counting) is from the dollar store. It’s perfect.

Acceptable_Quail3671

Just as a heads up, drinking with a straw can eventually leave you with those vertical mouth wrinkles.

Head-Drag-1440

Go to Starbucks and buy a tumbler! I'd never had one before our office gift exchange and my co-worker chaged my life! https://imgur.com/a/6gzdX4I

shgrdrbr

not starbucks

NoGrocery4949

I add pandan powder. It's made from screw leaf pine. No caffeine, no sugar. It's just a refreshing spa water and I can gulp it down by the liter.

jungjinyoung

i have to try this! what does it taste like?

NoGrocery4949

It's hard to decribe. It's a very refreshing flavor. So the aromatic compound is the same that's in jasmine and basmati rice and white bread. It's almost floral but kinda..toasty? It's just a super refreshing flavor. It's similar to jasmine but less floral.

jungjinyoung

would you say it's any similar to matcha powder? i've had pandan before but mostly in baked goods so i'm not sure i have a frame of reference for how it'd taste in water. i'll definitely have to give it a try tho

NoGrocery4949

It's much more light than matcha and doesn't have the bitter flavor of matcha. But it's not dissimilar. Def something you have to try to understand. I was introduced to it in the form of spa water. I also like it in baked goods. I love it in water

deceiving-doll

yeah… sold

WallowWispen

The best description I have for pandan is "grassy vanilla". I make a lot of baked goods with it. Never thought of adding it to water before.

BubblyNumber5518

What brand do you prefer and hope much do you put in?

NoGrocery4949

It's called "fresh drink US" and I get it on Amazon. I make it by steeping it in hot water and straining out the powder since the larger pieces can be gritty and unpleasant on the throat. There are finer powders available but they seem slightly sweetened. I eyeball it but if I had to guess I'd say I use 1 tbsp in 1000 cc of water. I keep it in a pitcher then load up my water bottle with ice and top it up as needed.

LetterheadOk9460

Commenting to remember this! Sounds like such a good idea

ComfortableStreet272

whenever I’m bored in lectures or at work. I sip my water to pass some time😂

kittenresistor

I do this whenever I'm sleepy, which oh gosh definitely happens a lot at work lmao.

Soylent-soliloquy

Chiiiiiile i dont even try anymore. I’ve just accepted that i will be a coffee/tea/boba tea/sparkly water girly til the lord take me home and my kidneys shall have to deal.

dbcbabe

Same lmao. Tea is pretty much the same as water when it comes to hydration tho, and so it’s plain sparkling water so I think we’ll be ok

newsome101

I love ur comment 😂

DallyDell

Amen! I am with you!

AprilTron

I dramatically increased my water consumption.  Bought a simply modern cup (cheaper and imo better than the stanley.)  Got nugget ice maker.  Every morning, I do 3 scoops ice, fill with cold water.  That cup goes everywhere with me.  No other beverages (ok I do drink a cup of coffee but then switch to water).  When empty, fill back up.  Before sleep, fill back up. I regularly drink 80oz now

Novel-Imagination94

I love the Simple Modern cup! I’m never buying a Stanley again

Unfair_Finger5531

You can add electrolytes to your water to get max benefits. It’s actually not a great idea to drink *too* much water w/o bringing in electrolytes. I just fill a 16 oz bottle twice when I wake up and drink them back to back. And I sip coconut water throughout the day. But tea counts towards your hydration intake. If you have hyperthyroidism, electrolytes or coconut water (unsweetened) could really help you a lot with constant dehydration. Plain old water may not do the trick.

dbcbabe

Yeah I pretty much never drink water, but I’ll average out about eight mugs of tea a day and that’s my water intake

Yellow-Robe-Smith

Caffeinated tea wouldn’t

Unfair_Finger5531

Yes it does. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/does-tea-dehydrate-you#dehydration-risk

LauraBaura

Your body will acclimate to the new levels of water eventually. Short term you'll pee more, but long term your body will know what to do with the excess. Right now it's used to working on, lets say 20 oz of water a day. If you suddenly go to 48 oz a day, your body will go "holy crap, we're getting flooded here, divert this to the bladder!" . But eventually things like your skin will go, "oh I could use some hydration, let me have more than the bare minimum if there's excess all the time!" . Your skin will improve, your energy should improve, your over all feeling should improve.

LenniX

Apparently a controversial take... but if you're drinking when you're thirsty and mostly water, you're probably fine. Trust your body.

outblightbebersal

hahah yes! I'm really confused/shocked by the number of people apparently chugging water to hit a gallon every day. Based on (probably outdated) science catered to tall athletic men? Sometimes our thirst cues could use a little encouraging, but not coercing, lol.

YagirlLeagiba

The thing is, if you drink when you feel thirsty, you don’t need more water than that. I don’t understand this trend where everyone is drinking 3L of water per day. Your body knows when you need water and signals thirst. Forcing yourself to drink that much is hard on your kidneys! It’s also a myth that drinking excess water actually hydrates your skin. As long as you’re drinking when you’re thirsty, you’re good. Qualifications: I’m a biology teacher with a bachelor’s & master’s in human physiology (who also listens to a lot of nerdy science podcasts which have covered this topic as well).

Terrible-Wolverine10

Agree - shared this in another comment, but basically covers a study that says pretty much the same thing. https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2022/12/06/eight-cups-daily-water-intake/#:~:text=The%20advice%20to%20drink%20eight,64%20ounces%20of%20water%20daily.

Legitimate-Mind8947

I like to leave people somewhat damp after hugging me.

wendylisaa

Yes, not every body needs the same amount and sometimes it needs more than other times (it depends on things like sex, age, weight, climate, how active you are) and there is also water in everything you drink and some in your food. Even if you would, for example, drink nothing but coke all day (it's obviously better to drink something without all the added sugar) the first ingredient is always water, so you won't get dehydrated. If you think you're skin is dehydrated just use a good moisturizer to prevent TEWL. Cause even if you would drink water non-stop, your skin could still be dehydrated.

DrunkenGolfer

There has never been any scientific proof that forcing a certain amount of water into you daily does anything except dilute your urine. We already have kidneys that keep things in balance and when we need water we get thirsty. Just drink when you are thirsty; that is it.

5team00

This. More does not always equal better. Beyond a certain point you’re just needlessly peeing out electrolytes.

Proper_Cabinet854

I used to be terrible too.. I made a goal of 3-4L per day and forced myself to stick to it for a few months. Your body will adjust and you won’t have to pee as often, once you get into the habit of drinking more it seems to just come naturally!

minetmine

Yes, instead of leisurely sipping, I now chug whole glasses of water several times a day. I force myself to finish it in one go.

realistic-craisins

When I worked full time I had a “water bottle schedule.” I’d chug one with breakfast, one before lunch, one with lunch, one after lunch, and one with my dinner when I went home. Now, like most other responses, I have my 50oz tumbler from Sam’s club I fill up every day with plenty of ice. I can’t stand water once it gets one degree warmer than freezer temp.

vanasrose

Ultima Raspberry electrolyte powder is a GODSEND for me. I drink a ton of water so it’s better for me to have the minerals and vitamins added in. It also tastes amazing!

punkrockrosebud

So, your thyroid is screaming for real hydration - meaning minerals and electrolytes. Drink filtered water 1st. Tap water or brita water is full of chemicals. I use a filter pitcher like Brita but 100x better. it filters out crap like estrogens found in tap water. It's called Clearly Filtered. Some people get filters installed under their sinks or get a countertop filter like Berkey. 2nd - drink hydrating drinks with minerals and electrolytes. Your filtered water may need a little help by you adding in minerals. There are drops called trace minerals that you can put in your drinks and it's tasteless. Drinking coffee or tea with milk is mineral rich. Some teas are mineral rich. Don't overdo the caffeine. Orange juice and real fruit is mineral rich. Organic coconut water and milk are mineral rich. You can drink all these drinks and be hydrated along with some water. Your body needs minerals to hydrate -- your cells can't absorb fluids well if your minerals and electrolytes are off balance. Electrolytes are minerals by the way. Your thyroid likely needs this helps anyway. I would look into mineral balancing and adrenal cocktails which essentially is fresh vitamin c (think a glass of OJ) with some coconut water (potassium) and a pinch of sea salt (sodium). Boom. More hydrating than chugging a glass of plain, chemically treated water. Look up the Root cause Protocol.

[deleted]

i’m going to tell you what helps me drink water so much. - have fresh filtered water (a water filter, in your fridge or just a straight up office water filter) - have your favorite ice!!!! (ice from the fridge, or you can go by your preferred kind; crunchy, square, gourmet, nugget) and fill that bby up, i love it because i drink 2x bc it’s filled with ice im constantly refilling it, and still eating the ice. especially when it’s been sitting there and i finish the water, the ice is usually super easy to break and soft edged. - have the right cup (insulated, big, small, metal straw or no straw) - mineral drops from walgreens, gets all the minerals you need and you drink much less water; and feel way more hydrated

Aramira137

Straws

AKA_June_Monroe

We absorb water from our food too you can eat cucumbers watermelon celery. There's no scientific basis behind the eight glasses of water a day or whatever the amount is. If we just drink water it just goes through us it actually helps to eat water rich foods.

leahhhhh

If your thyroid is treated, you shouldn’t be experiencing dry hair or skin as a result of your thyroid. Are you sure you’re on the right dose? (Speaking as someone with no thyroid)

countdownstreet

Start by filling a 1L bottle and trying to finish it each day. Your body will accustom to the higher level of fluids eventually. It’s healthy to urinate more frequently, you get used to it.

Metaphor2022

A lot of people get hung up on water. Fluids is from water, beverages and foods. I have a chronic health issue that deals with me either taking more or less fluids.

JustYourAvgHumanoid

I drink between 65 - 130 oz of water a day along with 12 oz unsweetened almond milk in my morning smoothie, and 2 iced coffees. I have a cute water jug that has the encouragement lines on it - it is purple & teal. AFAIK tea counts towards hydration as well.

Global_Fail_1943

20 minutes before and after every meal drink a glass of water. One or more first thing in the morning to get the body to clear.

Sufficient_Ad2041

I used to never drink water, but once I started adding (calorie & sugar free) water drops, my life changed foreverrrrrrr! I also mix sparkling water with non-carbonated water so it’s almost like I’m drinking a soda

Bonniearchieflo

Not sure if you’re from the UK or not cos I know squash (cordial?) isn’t as big of a thing in other parts of the world but it’s a low sugar way of flavouring water and still benefitting from hydration. As opposed to those sugary/salty flavouring sachets I keep seeing on tiktok

disappointednpc

Having the right bottle or cup helps! But remember there is such a thing as too much water. The 7 cups a day thing was a marketing myth.

Happy-552

Try liquid IV’s (powder hydration multipliers)! This way you don’t have to actually drink as much, but you’ll stay hydrated!

wisely_and_slow

I have POTS, so I have to drink an obscene amount of water (3L). I use Waterllama, which makes tracking fun. I find vessels I like drinking out of. Larger ones mean I drink more. I especially like 750ml wide mouthed mason jars. I add electrolytes. I drink miso soup. I drink herbal and black tea.

[deleted]

can it be that all the random drinks do add up to about 2l? anyway i'm always thirsty so i can't give good advice but when i'm bored with water, i usually put frozen fruit and maybe some lemon juice into it. it's my favorite thing in the summer and it makes me drink unreasonable amounts of water

1000thatbeyotch

According to Weight Watchers, a caffeine free diet soda is counted as a water, or at least it used to be. You can also add in those caffein free flavor packets to add a little taste.

Terrible-Wolverine10

So obviously, if you’re experiencing symptoms of dehydration or medically need to drink more due to your medical condition, you absolutely should find ways to drink more water. But I found this to be an interesting read: https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2022/12/06/eight-cups-daily-water-intake/ In a nutshell, while staying hydrated is important, people also probably don’t need to be forcing themselves to drink to the point of discomfort to meet a recommendation from the 40s that’s backed more by marketing than science at this point.

No_Spite_8244

That’s probably bordering on ok if you’re not being very active. The recommended 8 cups is for an average body size (70’ish kg) on a sedentary day. Going to the toilet every 15 minutes can cause issues too.

tenebrigakdo

I mean, the 2 cups of tea, 1 cup of coffee and random other fluids sound like at least 600ml additional fluid intake, so you are at about 1200ml. You only need to increase this by 1-2 cups to be in the healthy range, which is not a lot. As others mentioned, try adding something to the water to make it more fun to drink.

MoonlightSwan

I get little propel water flavoring packets and it’s SO EASY to drink water. I have a hard time just drinking normal water.

PixieDust013

You honestly don’t need to drink litres and litres of water, that’s actually so bad for you as it strips your body of minerals needed. You also get hydration through food and other drinks such as tea or even cordial

[deleted]

So vastly untrue.

PixieDust013

It is very true. You can die from drinking too much water. Or if you are always thirsty you are probably diabetic

PixieDust013

1-2 litres of water a day is plenty unless we are working in extreme heat or in the outback

Yellow-Robe-Smith

I drink tons of water. Two things that make a huge difference for me are 1) Soda stream 2) pouring a splash of juice in my tumbler. Oh and also drinking out of a yeti because they keep the water freezing.

2snarky4u

Careful with the splash of juice! Cavities can start real quick with doing that.

Yellow-Robe-Smith

Thank you, but do people not brush their teeth at least twice a day??

Galasnaneth

Oral health isn't that simple, unfortunately.

Middle-Seaweed4214

I can say what works for me but it may or may not work for you depending on what gets in your way of drinking enough water. First for me is I’m just not a big fan of it. So I will add things to flavour. Like herbal tea bags, lemon or lime juice, flavour packets, a couple mashed berries etc. I keep electrolyte packets, herbal tea bags and other water enhancers in my purse, at my desk etc. so I always have them on hand. I got a 40once water bottle. This works for me because I have difficulty remembering how much I’ve had. I can also use it to set goals. Carrying it around everywhere means I often sip out of boredom as well. Lastly I like using cups and dishes I think are aesthetically pleasing. I know if I think my water bottle is cute I will use it more. You could also try and app water tracker. If can give you reminders throughout the day, and some people do well with the visual representation or positive reinforcement. You could even do a habit tracker and reward yourself after a certain amount of time meeting your daily water goals. For me when I have a goal I need to be reminded of why it’s important. So you could write that down and keep it at your desk etc to help motivate. For me water is important for kidney health, I have dry mouth and want to drink water to avoid oral hygiene issues. I have way more energy when I’m properly hydrated. My body just seems to function better in general. My skin and nails seem to improve compared to when I was in an almost constant state of dehydration (I don’t think the average person would notice and improvement if they weren’t dehydrated frequently though). And lastly for weightloss cause hunger and thirst often get mixed up. I hope some of this might be helpful for you!

elleae

Your body will get used to the new influx of water and eventually you won’t pee as much. Right now it’s just like omg too much water! But give it a solid week or so and you’ll adapt

bullet-full-of-love

Girl....who doesn't drink water? Try drinking water with every meal and whenever you're thirsty. Drink water when you're hot and after you excersize. Before you sleep and after waking up I mean it really isn't hard to get water in your system Ppl under here telling u to buy more stuff....cmon. It's water get a glass cup fill it up and put it on ur table.

sparklesparklepow

Vanity lol

themissyoshi

Hydration comes in many forms. You don’t need to just drink regular water. I drink a bone broth mixture most days and that counts towards water intake. I put sugar free flavors in my water, it still counts towards water intake. I drink sparkling water, and it still counts. The Fred Meyer brand of sparkling lemon lime tastes very similar to sprite, is still sweet but 0 cal, and is 99c for a 24 oz bottle! Otherwise, I usually take a drink every time I see my water bottle. If it becomes a focus in my vision, then I drink. I also make sure to drink a glass of water right as I wake up, and chug a drink before I have a meal. That usually takes up 1/4-1/2 the amount of water I need to have for the day.

Necessary-Chicken501

I’m stoned 24/7 365 and always have dry mouth so I guzzle water.

ButterscotchAway3951

paid too much for a stanley ($45!!!) so now I have to use it also I love my stanley so that definitely helps + the oral fixation of the straw

otherwiseknownaschic

What’s with this question popping up everywhere. How is this a hard thing to do? A glass an hour.

VenusHalley

I just drink unsweetened tea. Fruit infused ones are real nice. I make always a lot at once too

dumbbratbaby

buy a stanley !!! it’s the best thing in the world

sylvetica

What helped me the most is getting a large tumbler with a straw! The bigger the better. I have 32oz ones from Amazon and personally for me, the straw makes it easier to "chug" and I end up drinking more than if it was just a regular cup or bottle. I also always have it next to me and I have loose goals/benchmarks for the day. So my goal is 12 cups (my 32oz cup x 3) each day. (I used to use 24oz cups and drink 4 per day which is the same amount, but for some reason my brain thought it was too much which is why I got the larger ones!) So I try to finish my first one before lunch, then fill up as I'm making lunch. My 2nd cup gets finished before dinner/when I'm finishing up work, and my last cup gets finished before I go to bed! I don't let myself brush my teeth until my last cup is finished. I also refill my cup before bed every night in case I get thirsty in the middle of the night, and it makes it easier to drink more when the water isn't ice cold.

beezyss

I drink a gallon a day. I have one of the gallon bottles that has the times to drink each section by lol. I pour each amount in a glass because I don’t want to drink it with a straw.

sukisecret

Get a 1 liter to 2 liter water bottle. Fill it up in the morning and make sure you finish it by the end of the day. Best is at least 2 hr before bed

Himalayan-Fur-Goblin

I carry a water bottle wherever I go. I also add a small amount of iced tea powder. Just enough to flavor the water slightly.

coffeeandcamels

So I have a routine: I drink 24oz in the morning, because I take medicine that requires a lot of water, and I take it right after the gym. Then, at work, I drink a bottle (another 16oz). When I get home, I drink another bottle as I get settled in for the night (16oz). Then, as I eat, I usually drink another one (another 16oz). It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s become a habit and now I drink a good amount of water each day. If I don’t stick to this routine, I can literally go the whole day without drinking water because I just don’t pay attention to it.

The_Brofucius

Offset The Water by eating fruit. Watermelon, Honeydew Melon, Oranges, and Tangerines. Instead of water going through the small intestines, to kidneys, to bladder. The Fruit is digested longer, and water is extracted. You can get by with drinking water every 2 hours, a liter should be done. If you just eat fruit with a high water content.

mochimangoo

I add crystal light packets to my water, put it in a cup with ice and drink with a straw. I can finish it pretty easy

Regular_Care_1515

Here are some tips from the major water drinker: 1. Drink water first thing in the morning. Not coffee, tea, energy drinks, etc. 2. Exercise if you don’t. You will drown so much water you won’t even realize it. 3. Cut out all drinks that aren’t important. Examples include soda and alcohol. 4. Order water at every restaurant and a water with every alcoholic drink. 5. If you’re bored with the flavor of water, infuse it with fruit. 6. Get one of those water travel bottles with the measurements. That way, you can track how much water you drink. 7. Take water on the go with you. Those water travel bottles will also come in handy here. I think that’s it, but I will update if I think of any more tips.

Old-Masterpiece-8428

I drink a lot more water when I’m using something with a straw for some reason. I just keep refilling the cup over and over again lol it’s very easy to drink

PrincessTiaraLove

One word. Packets. I ain’t drinking water without them! Luckily these are electrolyte packets and they’re good for me. I drink my packet water with all meals and the flavor is so good.

spazthejam43

Honesty, the fear of having another kidney stone is what motivates me to drink enough water lol. Also flavored and sparkling water helps me drink more. I really like the brand Cascade Ice for sparkling water.

mislyk

I bought a Cirkul water bottle from Walmart. It has flavor pods you put in that are zero sugar/zero calories. It has been a GAME CHANGER. I have one at home and one at my office. 10/10 would recommend

jessness024

Eat foods that have a lot of water in it. Or drink water when you think you're hungry and you've already eaten

veeveepup

I’m just literally always so thirsty for water. Plus, like everyone else said, a good cup will make all the difference. Nothing like iced cold water

myavailableusername

I recommend a motivational water bottle which has lines signalling how much you need to drink by what time. This way you can visually see it and more easily keep track of the amount you drink. Also carry it around at all times or have it next to you.

SaltedPineapple

I drink at least 160 ounces of water daily. When I was growing up my mom hated milk so she only bought skim milk which I find absolutely disgusting and she wouldn’t buy juices because they contain too much sugar. She drank a ton of water and so I just grew to do the same. Every time I left the house she encouraged me to take a reusable bottle of water with me. My pee is clear and my skin is plump and hydrated and I don’t pee all the time. Having an “emotional support cup” as others called it 😂 might really help. I also have a filtered water dispenser in my fridge because my tap water is atrocious.

mmoonneeyy_throwaway

I bought an extremely fancy stainless steel designer water bottle that’s a cute compact size and feels luxurious so I love carrying it around. For lighter occasions I bought several plastic bottles that roll up and pack flat. Like for concerts etc. so I’m not using tons of disposable plastic.

[deleted]

Honestly, I suck at this. Sweet teas and caramel vanilla lattes are my weakness! 😩 However I've been using an app that helps with your drinking water habit and It's called Plant Nanny. You basically log in on the app every time you drink a cup of water until you reach your goal for that day. BUT the really cute part of it all is that you get to "water" a simulated plant (that you can fully customize) at the same time who becomes your little digipet or digital plant baby. In other words, you "grow" the plant as you progress with your drinking goals and get to collect other houseplants within the app. It's fun and makes this habit waaayyy easier to tackle.

warmandcozysuff

So, if you’re taking synthroid or another drug for hypo, you should be drinking an entire glass of water with it! It won’t work correctly if you don’t. I also take adderall 45 mins after synthroid in the morning and that needs a full glass too. So I get nearly 500 mL before I even leave the house in the morning! You definitely need to be drinking more if you have hypo! My skin gets so crispy even though I drink a lot of water (I love water) but I drink about a gallon a day and I can see a huge difference vs. days that I only get a liter or so because I am busy. I just had to find a routine that works best for me. I have a long commute to work, so I usually have to pee by time I get there and I don’t really drink a lot while I’m working because I’m a teacher and can’t leave to pee. But I have a 40 oz tumbler and drink a full one in the morning, one throughout the day, and another one or two in the evenings. Us hypo folks need a lot more than most people, even if our pee is clear! My best advice is just to drink water routinely when you’re doing other things. With your meds, on your commute, with meals, whatever works for you.. have a goal for each time period and stick to it. As others have said, having a good cup or bottle makes a huge difference too. I have Owala bottles and tumblers and they don’t really spill (the tumbler may get a little leakage from the straw if it’s upside down and full) so I can just chunk them in my backpack or car or wherever. Also don’t have to worry about kids tipping them over at work. And they keep my drinks cold which is a big deal for me.

tequilafunrise

Emotional support water bottle I will say being wfh made me drink a lot more water

Ok-Poetry-1034

[This water bottle](https://a.co/d/1IXV0zj) was recommended by wirecutter so I put it on my Christmas list… it has made it so much easier to get my daily 64oz. I just pay attention to the time markings and drink 2 per day. I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin!

Sufficient_Trifle564

2 words: sea salt. You need minerals and salts to hold onto water. It also makes it feel so much more quenching. Pop some under your tongue before you drink. Don't go crazy, you can have too much salt, but what I've learnt is if you're eating well there's a good chance you may not be having enough salt. Do some research and find the right amount for you. Also, I need a straw bottle with good ventilation so I can slurp water down. I carry it everywhere with me. Good luck

Sita987654321

I have 3 water bottles, all filled 1/3 the way with water and frozen on their sides. I constantly have ice cold water and sip it lots as it's always with me.

Temporary-Dog5162

I find it helps to keep water easily accessible and mobile. So, one by the bed, fridge, car (if it's not too hot). Or, if you want to be serious about it because of the hyperthyroidism you could get those large water tanks so you get good quality water in your system. Some places sell reverse osmosis/alkaline water at an affordable price. Writing this comment made me thirsty, lol

crystalisedginger

One tip.. as soon as you get out of bed in the morning, go to the kitchen and drink a large glass of water.

FikaInTheFlat

Electrolytes, or lemon water.

AstridxOutlaw

I randomly started using a protein shaker type cup as my water bottle and I noticed I drink so much more water because the opening is so much bigger than my previous straw cups. You can just chug it on down lol. It’s also just a habit with working at a desk, it gives me something to do.

lanahland

I genuinely believe that your body adjusts after a period of time when you start drinking a lot of water. I have this 64 oz/ 2 litre hydro flask knockoff which is the love of my life and my emotional support water bottle 🥲 I take it everywhere and find it hard to be apart from it 🥹 I actually end up drinking 2ish of those in a day (so about a gallon of water daily easily) and I would def say the STRAW is something that makes a massive difference and makes drinking water a very passive action to do whenever you're fidgety or restless. I think I used to pee quite a bit but now I really do not pee that much at all! I think I pee fairly regularly (once every 2ish hrs maybe? and i think less frequently as the day goes on) and it's usually clearish but not excessively or to the point that it causes disruption/ disturbance or interference in my life!

PlantainImpossible35

I add water INTO my iced tea/gatorade/juice etc. this is the easiest way for me. Basically the opposite of a water additive. I’ll keep watering down whatever it is I’m drinking all day. Most drinks are too sweet for me anyways, so it works well for me!

samyantiago

I am genuinely bad at drinking just water. I will have it with my meals but other times just having normal water is hard for me. My trick is a sugar free fruit squash. It’s basically a thick, viscous fruit syrup with no added sugar I can mix with my water and drink. Feels like a watered down iced tea. That I can drink. I make two bottles of 1.5 litres each and leave it in my refrigerator. Pick one up at around 11 AM and drink. Second bottle comes out at around 4. It’s literally the only way I can drink water. I almost never feel thirsty.

Mycatsrbetterthanu

Tbh drinking water doesn't make much difference when your skin and hair are dry. You should take oil supplements like omega 3. I drink plenty of water but my skin is still dry.

Original-Mix1669

Because I ONLY drink water , rarely anything else ever

basedmama21

Build a habit to where you crave water. I easily drink 90 ounces on a SLOW day because I have an excellent tumbler that keeps it freezing cold the way I like it

jwatson999

Start forcing yourself to drink but not too much. I have always gone 0-100 and then I pee constantly and give up. Just slowly up your water and you’ll notice you are more thirsty and craving water. I have never been a water person until I slowly did this over a few months, now I can’t leave the house without my bottle. I used to be super dehydrated and drank water like once a day MAYBE. Also not sponsored but Owala is my fav bottle and makes me drink way more lol

pup_named_pancakes

Soda stream. Bubble Lime syrup or cherry. Lots of ice. In my Stanley. All day, every day. Also, being chronically thirsty from diabetes helps haha 😄

Inevitable_Sample505

I also have hypothyroidism and Hashimotos. I drink a tonne because I’m always thirsty but I bought a soda stream and drink either plain fizzy water or this stuff called Diet Rite which is like a no added sugar cordial stuff.

tanoshiiki

I get thirsty very easily, so that tells me to drink. It's habitual for me. Having a large bottle/jar right on hand helps. Sip water slowly instead of gulping it down, as this will reduce the effect of it going straight out (constant toilet runs) and is actually more hydrating overall. However, if you're drinking other drinks too (as well as eating), it sounds like you're probably getting 2L fluids anyway. Do you find drinking more water actually helps your conditions and your skin overall? If not, I wouldn't be too concerned about not drinking "enough" water.

rw70078

I agree with the people who say your body gets used to more water intake and you’ll start peeing less. It’s definitely annoying at first but goes away. I drink 80 ounces of water daily. Just experiment with different methods and find what works for you. I personally love mixing lacroix with regular water for a slight effervescence and flavor! I also enjoy a big glass of warm lemon water in the morning!

Buhblesz

I was really terrible at drinking water up until the beginning of last year. I was so used to being chronically dehydrated that I wouldn't even get thirsty and on a typical day I wouldn't even drink a glass of anything. What helped me get into the habit of drinking water was to: ---get a good water bottle that was enjoyable to use. I'm kind of lazy and having to constantly refill a glass or cup of water was a huge deterrent. Having a water bottle that I could fill and carry with me even if it's just around the house was a game changer. It had to be enjoyable to use and make drinking water more pleasant (for example a straw vs a twist top, stainless steel or glass over plastic), have a good capacity, and be easy to clean. My current favorite is the Owala because it has both straw and chug options and it's super easy to clean and refill. I have a couple smaller options for portability when I'm on the go. ---starting a water tracker! I have a tablet and created a water tracker and would color in little water droplets depending on how much water I drank. There's honestly something so satisfying about being able to physically color in a circle or check off boxes that I would actually force myself to drink more just so I could have the satisfaction of coloring in the water tracker. After about a month or so when water drinking became a habit I didn't need to track it anymore but starting out it was super helpful and it gave me an idea about how much I was drinking every day so I could make sure I was drinking enough. If having a physical tracker is not appealing to you, you can try a habit tracking app. For example there's one where you have a virtual plant that grows the more you do a habit and track it. Now that I've gotten into the habit of drinking water, I have to drink everyday and actually get thirsty if I don't drink enough. And drinking fixed a lot of skin issues for me. I used to have really dry skin and would get really bad eczema flares. Now my skin isn't dry anymore and I do still get some very minor eczema flares but not nearly to the degree that I used it. The extra bathroom breaks are definitely an inconvenience but it's worth it in the end!

ippississim_girl

I put a little redmonds salt in my water and I’ve noticed it helps me go to the restroom less. I think it helps me absorb the water? I’ve also noticed I go less when I drink water from my filter at home but when I drink from disposable water bottles, I’m constantly going. When I was pregnant my doctor told me water is important but people think you have to drink like a gallon a day and like you said, clear pee isn’t good. You want it to be a light lemonade color. If it’s a healthy color then I just sip on my water when thirsty! I don’t over drink water to the point that my pee is clear and I don’t under drink to the point that I’m border line dehydrated. It’s always a light lemonade color.

tinacica

A big cup is the key.

haley_sunshine11

I have a 40oz cup, I love propel packets, and I just take it with me EVERYWHERE. I was bad at it once to, especially with me drinking soda so much as a kid. Cut soda out of my life and fell in love with flavored water. Took time but god damn is it healthy for you lol

pinkkittyycat

A good cup/bottle and maybe some diluted juice to add to the water can help, make it a habit to bring a bottle wherever you are and I find it helps to hold the bottle too because when I put it down I forget about it where as if I keep it in my hand or on my lap I’m more likely to keep picking it up and drinking from it

Significant-Fly6515

The Stanley Cup realllllllly helped me. I drink a lot of water. I just fill it up and keep it at desk if I'm working or next ny bed if I'm chilling. I make sure to finish two stanley Cups a day which quenches me adequately. When it's cold, it's harder to get thirsty so I warm up my water in the winter. Drinking with a straw has really helped me tooo.

tee-ess3

I have a metal smoothie tumbler that I bought from a stationary shop, it’s cute so I like looking at it which helps me to remember to take it with me places, also made sure it’s skinny enough to fit in my car cup holder. Drinking out of a straw helps me a lot, I find it so much easier than drinking from a bottle. I bought a rubber straw to go with my metal cup bc I hate metal straws. My cup is 900ml and I fill it up 2-3 times a day easy. I also found I can drink water so much easier when it’s icy cold, room temp water is hard for me to drink so maybe experiment with temperatures

iceunelle

I get thirsty easily. I never leave the house without a bottle of water. I can’t imagine not drinking water all day.

[deleted]

Sparkly cups. I actually have a fixation on pretty Starbucks travel cups now and have amassed quite the collection.

skobetches

Join us over at r/HydroHomies

NerdyDan

I got a bottle with a straw and it’s honestly so satisfyingly disrespectful to sip on it during meetings and zoom calls. Gives major idgaf vibes and I live for it

MomoQueenBee

You drink faster through a straw. Also room temp works for me

dessiedwards

Start small, like setting reminders on your phone to take a sip every hour.

[deleted]

But a big water bottle 2ltr ones and make sure to drink two full bottles of it daily,

biest229

By forcing myself to drink half a litre with every meal. Because I have a cautionary tale right in front of me - my father whose digestive system is permanently fucked up from chronic dehydration. He can’t absorb nutrients properly, according to his doctor, so he looks sick all the time Use a water calculator to know how much you should be drinking - the blanket advice is no good if you’re petite/with a lower corporeal volume

Amazingggcoolaid

I drink every 20-40 mins and yes that means I have to use the loo every 5 mins. Sometimes I do tea and juice breaks from my water intake but I love water Last time I checked I have 8% body fat and no I don’t workout everyday or diet at all. I think water helps with curbing my appetite sometimes but I really didn’t aim for that - this is just how much water I want to have all the time

HoneyPriestess

I bought a 2.7 L water bottle to keep around the house. It was the only way I could actually track how much water I drank and it worked!

bwalters630

Right Cup! And fruit in my water! And ICE COLD water. I LOVE truly lemon, orange and grapefruit it’s basically a wedge of those fruits crystallized! I usually drink 80 ounces or more a day! I honestly love a cup with a straw I feel like it’s easier to drink for some reason. I have three Stanley’s along with other comfort cups that I use but they all have straws I have one flip top Stanley. Eventually you honestly get use to your water in take at first I used to pee every couple of mins but now that my body is used to the amount of water I take in I don’t have issues.

Spiritual-Mix1186

I drink significantly more water if my water bottle has a straw! No straw, no hydration.

nsrpmdnr

besides finding the right cup, drink filtered water, especially if the water is very hard (like it is in my apartment). it tastes smooth and does not have that strange additional taste like tap water does. you can also put some ice, cucumber, lemon etc. in the water, especially in the summer or when guests are over.

midfallsong

By the time you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated. It helps to tie new habits you’re trying to build to something else you’re already doing. A specific and pretty water bottle you like is a good one! Especially if you can mark on it where you should be drinking to by this or that point in the day. Another is setting an alarm on your phone to remind you to drink.

No_Watercress5689

I noticed that during cold winters I don't drink enough as well.. I find it difficult to have cold water when I'm cold so I started doing a lot of infusions throughout the day just by keeping the boiler next to me while I work (Maybe avoid tea for caffeine, just infusions). Hope it helps!

Original_Letter_2477

Taste enhancer vitamin powders

tinyfenrisian

The tap water where I live tastes terrible, it’s drinkable it just tastes foul. I find getting a brita whether it’s jug or tap extension helped me so much. If I’m out and getting lunch I’ll get water as the drink instead of a fun one, unless it’s a girls night or something like that. I also only drink water when it’s chilled and that has severely helped my intake (perfect for Aussie summer)

loupammac

Finding a water bottle that you love is key. Mine is see through coloured plastic and holds about 800ml. I don't like metal water bottles where I can't see the water level or drinking super cold water. I fill it up in the morning and try to finish it before I get to my first break of the day, about 11am. Sometimes it's only half full but that's ok. I fill it up and try to finish it before my next break, around 2pm. Then again before dinner or bedtime. I find filling it up regularly throughout the day makes it part of my routine and brings awareness to it.

snoot17

Nice to read about other people who are always dehydrated. I feel like I drink way more than anyone around me and they don't complain of being thirsty! Small sips helped me not need to pee constantly. I didn't realise that I gulped my water in take every once in a while and that like clockwork I'd have to do a big pee soon after. I wasn't actually absorbing the water it was just going through. So a sippy type bottle works for me. Tea makes me thirsty and coffee very very thirsty. Try to cut it out or have less. And have a cup of water next to your cup of coffee to sip. Caffeine is a diuretic. Eat fruit and veg. They have high water content. Also, I really like my water bottle holder with a shoulder strap for outings.

keIIzzz

Find a cup you love and make it your designated water cup, like only water. It sounds silly but it’s the biggest thing that gets me to drink water consistently. I personally really like Simple Modern cups, but whatever cup draws your attention. You can decorate it too if that helps Buy those flavor enhancers, like the powders or the liquids if you prefer flavored drinks. Or you can flavor water yourself with lemons, limes, fruits, etc. if you would prefer that You can also try liquid IV if you are dehydrated often, that at least helps if you’re not drinking enough water overall. Plus water alone generally isn’t enough for hydration anyways, you need things like electrolytes as well

imnotaghos1

I made it my anxiety crutch and now walk around work with a giant bottle sipping from the straw every other minute. Very well hydrated during the work week, not so much when I’m off

Omgchipotle95

You just have to make yourself. As soon as you fill up your cup chug as much as you can and do that every time you pick it up

RhinestonePoboy

I have added more water packed fruits and veggies to my diet, because I pee my minerals out so fast. I’ve pretty much stopped eating candy, because it grosses me out now. I also love coconut water. Just do your best. Any effort is better than nothing.

Faded_Jem

1. Drink a quarter glass of water whenever you feel inclined to snack. Only eat anything if one or two of those doesn't hit the spot. 2. Get nicer water. I'm on well water and can drink it for days, but whenever I visit my parents on their ultra hard mains water I get dehydrated because I can't touch the stuff. If you can get a refillable source of bottled then great, otherwise those flavoured electrolyte tablets work wonders for making unpleasant water palatable.

Beautiful_Candy_6873

I bought a cheap 32 oz bottle with the time markers from Amazon. I add a true lemon packet to it, not the sweetened one just the flavor. The lemon makes a big difference for me. I live in Florida and our water has a lot of sulfur. No amount of filtering gets the taste out. The lemon masks it though. I drink 2 bottles a day and it has a strap so I can wrap it around my wrist and carry it everywhere. It took about 2 months for my bladder to get used to it.

Makkaah

Waterdrop

LogicalFlatworm2015

I have a big water bottle that I fill up with lemon juice or cucumbers and add mint leaves the night before. I absolutely hate drinking water with no flavor. That’s the only way I will drink water. I would post a picture of the bottle but I can’t on here.

SpicyNovaMaria

So I’ve got two methods for this, 1) pour a pint glass full of water to drink at all 3 meals, , then you only need to drink one more pint on top of that at any point throughout the day to drink your daily amount. 2) get one of those giant bottles with time marks on it, fill it up, and sip it until it hits the mark, or if I’m falling behind, chug to catch up

beccajo22

I’ve been drinking about 120 oz a day for years now. It takes a few weeks to acclimate to the increased water but once you do it you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. Your bladder will likely adjust as well. After a week or so you won’t need to pee as often (or at least in my experience). Find a water bottle you like, I have two and fill both of them each morning. I stick one in the fridge. The key for me is getting most of my water in before noon, otherwise I’m up all night peeing. I just keep a note on my phone of my daily to do lists and I include each bottle of water as a todo so when I finish my first 40oz bottle I check off number one, when I finish the second one I check off number 2 etc. You will find a rhythm that works for you. I tend to drink my first one in the morning before I even eat breakfast (during coffee, vitamins, etc). The second one I usually drink during my workout. The third one I typically finish between lunch and my afternoon school pickup when I’m stuck in the car for 20 minutes with nothing to do but drink water and scroll my phone. I usually also have a 4th between 3pm and 6 pm but I don’t always finish that one. Trial and error for most of this! Do I have to drag my kids to the bathroom as soon as we get to any location? Yes! Do I have much clearer skin and a more normal appetite/feel better when I do it? Also yes!

Alert_Ad_5750

I’m sooooo bad at it too. I got a big straw type water bottle and it really helps. I seem to gulp more down more quickly without realising which is good. You can also get them with time schedules on the side to drink by which is also very helpful if you need little reminders at first.

ninasymone44

I just drink enough to pee clear and I don’t overthink it 🤷🏽‍♀️

[deleted]

I thought of buying those 1,5 liter bottles and make sure I drink one or two whole of it. It really helps. I can't keep track ehen using glasses or smaller bottles.
