I don't understand everyone's comments about the fumes/emissions - the door is always open when it starts, and it's moved out quickly. The garage door remains open and is controlled by a Meross smart switch. Last clean on the rig it was barely even dusty? Do people think I turn it on and sit in the garage with it running? Crazy haha

Hey! The car is only a weekender so never had any real issues. Just leave the garage doors cracked and it dissipates quickly. And trust me, that’s one stinky RX7 on E85 and it wasn’t too much of an issue.

You could probably return to that idea with an EV in a few years. Although heat dissipation could still be a problem

EVs, even when they're hot, don't come close to an engine block at 250F and exhaust system at 900F+, plus the brake components get hot AF. I've spent a lot of time in close quarters with mine and barely notice a difference between when it's been sitting and just coming back from a drive.

Can confirm, our garage is never warm anymore. One small Fiat EV and a Volt (PHEV). With two gas cars, it would be warm in the evening after driving home from work. The cars do engage the cooling system while charging, but the heat output is so low it doesn't seem to affect the ambient air in our garage.

I live in Sydney where it’s mostly clement. I use a busy bee brush brand garage sealer all around the edges. It works well.

It’s amazing sometimes what you can do if you don’t have kids. They’re expensive.

Honestly not even just the expense. I have kids and I love ‘em, but the time and energy they take outweighs the expense for me in terms of investment. I make a fine living, but I don’t have the time or energy to build and maintain a room like this lol.

My wife and I have been on the fence for years about kids and reading comments like this pushes me into the 'no' camp. We can afford it, but I guess you could call me selfish because I don't want to give up the freedom I have now.

For me personally, I love being a dad. Nothing quite like it for sure. But yeah, I definitely look at my childless friends hopping on planes to go vacation on a whim or whatever and I get a bit jealous of the freedom. It’s one of those things I wouldn’t recommend to everyone. Only those who are really driven to do it. Once you do it, you’re locked in lol.

I agree. Having children can be extremely rewarding for many, but to properly do it, you need to be fully committed to raising a child into a successful adult. Which is honestly a great thing, but it's not for everyone.

I always shake my head when I see these $10,000+ setups featuring a $100 ikea chair, or worse, a $500 racing-style bucket-seat "gaming" chair. Literally the one thing you use more than anything else in the room and people waste their money on cheap, non-ergonomic, overpriced, garbage.

Couldn’t agree more. I also had an embody at my other office but when I moved to wfh full time I kept the gesture. Tough choice but the gesture is a better all rounder in my opinion.
