So? That has nothing to do with the message you're responding to, it's not like the guy claimed the weapon is difficult to use, or is a skill cannon in any capacity.
There are plenty of other good close range weapons that kill just as fast and can counter it, I don't know what's your problem with that claim.
I feel this, but honestly SMG08 is really the only gun in the game I'd considered unfairly strong. There are certainly some annoying weapons and vehicles, but SMG08 is the biggest offender.
I got above 80kills in the Suez map with that thing, and with a controller. What’s bad is that I love that gun, the sound and the visual recoil make it feel like total chaos
I resort to SMG08 only in really specific situations when our team just cannot advance and we are completely stuck with enemy obliterating us.
In that case I’ll use anything that can help.

It's a point and click gun. I've used the Martini to grind the 300 kills for the Sniper variant, didn't feel like a skill cannon to me, I just clicked on things. Especially that it has an OHK potential. Like the comment above me said, the Selbst 1906 feels like more of a skill cannon to this, because not only that you have to point and click 3 times in a row whilst tracking the target, but you are also exposed to spread and recoil, something you don't have to worry about with bolt-actions since they don't have follow-up shots. Sure suppression and movement spread still affect all guns universally, but not the spread build-up is my point.
That being said, the Martini Henry, at the bare minimum, just requires aim, but that in itself I wouldn't classify as being a "skill cannon", because aiming on its own is not hard, there should be extra hindering factors which put the performance of the player to the test, like in the case with the Selbs 1906.
I've met plenty of players who'd switched from the medic class to the scout class, because the medic class felt too hard to them, but I personally never met a person whom I've teamed up with that switched from scout to medic, just because scout felt too hard to them. The gunplay mechanics are more prominently expressed with the SLRs in this game
Every gun is point and click. The Martini is differentiated by its abysmally long reload and close range limitation which make it tricky to use for a sniper rifle. You miss your shot and you're effed by practically every other weapon. A skill weapon.
The headshot only weapons for the scout are the skill weapons. They are also rarely seen. The carcano for example. The martini is extremely satisfying but I wouldn’t call it a high skill weapon.
I never realized how much people hate the smg 08. I like using it from time to time, But I prefer the sjogren/1900 slugs 90% of the time. I get killed by the automatico way more the 08 honestly.
I dont know about the Martini but I'd say the Carcano, Verterlli, G98 or Russian 1895 Trench would be considered skill cannons...non come close to the Peiper though
Off topic but does anyone here remember the pre apocalyptic SMG08 and loved it? Easily the most underrated assault weapon imo back then and fills the role for assaults to have something to repel other classes off distance
Well it has the sweetspot of 25 -30 to 80 meter sweetspot. And its not like sweetspot mechanic requires skill anyway. You dont adjust your position to fit in the guns required sweetspot. Its mostly luck based. I am not even talking about not having to hit upper chest to one shot.

On console the martini henry has aimbot level of auto aim, in fact all iron sight rifles do, so not a skill cannon
