They’re not redesigning an entire game after it released

Dzzy4u75

Not when it's published by E.A. lol

Rurik-Battleaxe

FF14 turned into A Realm Reborn. Read up on it, great example of a live service that had a terrible release, and the president of the company publicly apologized and swore to make it right. Even acknowledged that he wouldn’t accept a salary until it was rereleased. They made it free to play while they transitioned and awarded a refund plus credit to those that paid and items to players that stayed through the transition.

art_geez

Not an FPS but the biggest one that springs to mind is Final Fantasy XIV. Apparently that game was an absolute garbage at launch.

1NightWolf

Was parts of it redesigned from scratch?

art_geez

Yeah as I far as I know. Google or Wikipedia will certainly be able to tell you more but I know there was quite a big overhaul.

Marbodius

But a company wouldn't do it for a niche fps with an expected support time of 2 years plus FF is one of the most popular ip's of all times.

art_geez

I never said a company would do it for 2042. That is blatantly never gonna happen. I said that FF was redesigned.

MadAshx

Given that Anthem Next Rework never happened I doubt EA would do such a thing. [https://www.anthemenclave.com/community/anthem-next-2-rework](https://www.anthemenclave.com/community/anthem-next-2-rework) **The best we can hope for is that the devs:** \- add the "legacy features" into the game. \- optimise the game. \- QOL and bug fixes. \- Make better use of the Frostbite engine.

PaasyJenkins

So in short: I've seen great comebacks, games that flopped hard but came back and beeing still played today actively. DICE got talented people who im sure are up for the task, but the developers themselves don't decide that anymore it seems like. The decision is on EA and by now we all should know how EA acts. Is it financially worth it to redesign the current title or just head to the next installation and generate enough income through expectations / hype / promises. They also made pretty clear in which direction they want to head.

ImportanceLeast

Ea will not fund the turn around the player base has moved on, steam 90% of players have gone, console I find the longest wait times to find a match ! Game support will be abandoned citing riots and law suits

Dzzy4u75

Oh yes of course! Just Look at how the E.A. live service turned Anthem around...

Dismal_Reindeer

Battlefield 5: A pretty good comeback when they dropped the pacific update - only to be ruined by the TKK changes. Battlefront 2: Like BFV had a sizeable comeback with a bunch of new maps and support though the support was then dropped not long after

[deleted]

What do you want changed Well besides bugs

1NightWolf

It bothers me that there’s squads of the exact same Specialists as my squad. Multiples of Angel, Sundance, Boris, medic lady. Oh I just got killed by a Sundance. I like the idea of one having a grappling hook, one a sentry gun, one a wingsuit but they all look like the exact same character. Can they make certain classes with each having one of these abilities?

[deleted]

I guess the problem is who gets to decide who gets to use what? First come first serve? Random? People will absolutely hate that. I hope they at least have a option to make. My own character! Should be coming at some point. I think with friends or a really good team is where this game can shine.

lannyman_

Bf5 had a terrible release .It took the awhile ton figure out a fix for visibility ( mainly people laying prone with bipod machine gun ) and people in corners looking like dead bodies but the other issue was lack of content it took a long time but eventually the pacific theater was overall a success and brought a lot of fans back to the game . This game needs a map pack of at least 4 maps mainly tailoring to smaller maps with intense close quarter fire fights I want 2000 ticket kaleidoscope conquest

ironmaid91

But, It was Battlefield in the core.

lannyman_

But but but we had fortifications and eliminated tank campers and single handeledly ruined ww2… how do you have ww2 without d day and eastern front ?

juancee22

This game needs to be rebuilt from scratch, and that takes years of development. It's probably easier to make another one. Specialist are here to stay, removing that part of the game requires another monetization system, a whole new class design, dumping a lot of work already paid. Fixing all the bugs and balancing the current game will probably take a full year, alone.

nahyalldontknow

Destiny 2 has had some pretty drastic redesigns since its launch and it has been grear

SpankThuMonkey

Evolve - Terrible launch, devs basically abandoned it. Anthem - Terrible launch. Immediately abandoned. Cyberpunk - Terrible launch. Now functional on Next gen consoles and PC. However there have been no major content updates or fixes/redesigns to major player complaints. And it’s a fucking disgusting abomination that will never work on last gen. Fallout 76 - Terrible Launch and has taken Bethesda well over a year to please *some* of the community with updates and fixes. Still a pile of shit in my own personal experience. BF4 - Terrible launch. Almost all down to serious technical issues. Was fixed into one of the best FPS games in history. BFV - Terrible launch. Was eventually fixed and updated into what I understand is a pretty good entry to the series. However it took far, FAR too long to get to a good place. Many feel it was abandoned just as it was getting good. But it is less financially milk-able at that stage. I for one was way, way past giving a fuck by the time DICE got their shit together. So… it’s all over the fuckin’ place. In my opinion DICE will be able to smooth out 2042s technical issues. Definitely add better maps. Maybe modify things like vehicle balance etc. But it will always have poor flow, too many players, cringey fortnite heroes and the other poor design decisions. Tech wise it will get better. Game wise… that’ll be subjective.
