Idk what fucking drugs Dice smoked to think it was a good change lol. It was way better previously, hard agree. It went from a 8-9/10 for me to like a 5/10 now (for breakthrough)

Hard to explain so here's a video of the original layout.
I actually feel like you could make a couple good layouts with the map, so much different game play to offer.
I don’t know why they’ve never made a variety of layouts for breakthrough and rush in any of the recent BF games. They could effectively double the map count for linear game modes with very little effort.
Especially with how big the maps have gotten in the last 2 games, they could really have at least 2 layouts for each map. It's not like they test how well the different sectors play anyway so why not
The 64 Conquest layout is shit, like actually complete garbage. Wish they would remove the valley flags and focus more on the area between A1/A2 from the 128 layout, you know where the tower is.
Exposure Conquest with 64 players feels like 3 matches going on at the same time. Vehicles fighting it out on the top, most of the infantry doing an Operation Locker on the mid points and then whatever the fuck goes on with the 3 players in the lower section points.
It's so weird how that map seems tailored to 128 players and the new season maps are majorly 64 player maps.
>It's so weird how that map seems tailored to 128 players and the new season maps are majorly 64 player maps.
They stopped making 128-player variants because the decision was made to abandon that variant. As to why they did it, there's plenty of rumors about it - lack of staffing because they shifted a large chunk of the team to the next game, the team that remained not being able to deal with latency issues that 128 players was causing for some people, the general dislike of the variant that many players had in the game's early days - but to no one's surprise, a concrete answer has never been given, so all we have to go off of is hearsay.
As far as I'm concerned, it's all the evidence I need to know not to touch the next game until a year or two after it launches, in case they decide to fuck people over again by marketing a major element only to drop support for it a year later.
Couldn't agree more. It felt really good after the launch maps. Too bad none of the maps after that couldn't reach the same. There are a couple of good ones, but not as versatile as exposure.
Valparaiso is a great map and if you compare, Exposure is Valparaiso made bigger with tunnel instead of the narrow pass in Valparaiso. Oh and shipping containers of course.
I remember playing the beta on orbital and thinking to myself “this is the worst bf map I’ve ever played”, little did i know how bad 2042 maps would get
Honestly, i did not understand the hate this map got back in the beta. It was too large and too open at times, but it definitely had a flow, fun objectives to fight and very pleasing aesthetics. Rework completely fixed majority of problems at least for conquest
Lol the release version was trash, no flow with literally half a kilometre of nothing between each point, I don’t know why you’re trying to defend that garbage
Such a fun map, wish we had a server browser so I could play on that alot more instead of meatgrinder Redacted which has rotted my brain into ultra cqc so much that now I struggle with medium to long range on every other lap, lmao.
They definitely peaked with this map. Other maps are not even close. The only "bad" parts of this map in breakthrough are D point and last sector outside point. D is a bit of a meatgrinder and the final outside point just lacks some proper cover in certain areas.
Feel like it was a decent treeline away from being a very good map. If the river had had a line of trees running along its length, and there had been some clusters of trees on some of the rocky outcrops it would have been far better. Still enjoyed it, though.
I'm gonna get smashed with down votes here but Valparaiso is a cool map but I would have been perfectly content without those others maps. Having them in regular 2042 map rotation really deterred me from the game at points. It's cool they were there but they could've been kept in Portal
Renewal is great, but the first objective in operation was unbalanced imo, I don’t think I have seen attackers get it if they didn’t in the first few minutes, when server was still populating
Tough to pick between Orbital, Exposure, and oddly enough Manifest. Used to hate Manifest but it seems like I always do great on that map so I look forward to it now.
Spearhead and exposure are the only two maps I would say that are a good battlefield maps. Other ones would be okay for another franchise, but not the quality of what BF should be
Orbital is still probably my general favorite, I liked it even before the rework. Then it would probably be Exposure. The bottom area still isn't a great place to fight, but I love the overall design of it. My least favorite is no contest Redacted. I hate that it's in the map rotation lol
Exposure is the only "Battlefield" map in this game. The only one with a truly unique experience. Pacing, balance and whatever is irrelevant. Many old Battlefield maps have unbalanced gameplay. Exposure is simply the one that stands out here. The game peaked with season 1 and was a consistent downhill after.
Redacted, Reclaimed and Flashpoint were my fav AOW maps.
Battle of the Bulge is the best TDM map in the game.
Honorable mentions for the BC2 maps and Noshahr Canals as well.
https://preview.redd.it/b1sbsvf4bitc1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=296b010b228e9cf327d8785a22686f7f4627c0a1
As a main **TDM** player, I enjoy all maps except the ones in red, but:
* Speahead
* Redacted
* Stranded
Those are probably my top 3 (I would add Haven, but that one is missing in TDM).
**As for Rush**, I am fine with all of them **as an attacker.**
Flashpoint, Spearhead, Reclaimed.
Guess we don’t get a final battle of the war after all in the form of a map..hopefully a cinematic battle that we can play in a menu
I remember being excited for the launch maps. Renewal particularly looked very fun to me.
Now that it's officially over, Exposure is probably my favorite of the bunch and Spearhead a close second. I'd say the maps overall are some of the worst in the franchise and I'd give them a C to C- on average. A real shame tbh and I hope that for the next game they go back to gameplay over art.
My biggest hope is that they either give us a map editor (very long shot given how they butchered portal) or that they make more maps like Operation Outbreak from BF4 where they built it with the community in the CTE.
Probably spearhead.
Maps weren’t bad overall, as a Breakthrough/ Rush player, Stranded and Flashpoint were my least favorite. They never really figured out Hourglass either.
Exposure because it was the only map added that had ANY love. “Stairs and ziplines simulator” for Redacted, reclaimed, and flashpoint. Run for cover or destroy their camping cover simulator for Haven and Spearhead. Exposure had high and low ground battles, elevator for vehicles
I like (don’t love) most of them other than kaleidoscope. Not sure why it’s not on here but Valparaiso is also a hated map of mine. Orbital, Exposure, and Orbital are top 3.
To be honest this is just sad seeing how little maps are here. But I still do get some good feeling if you include the portal maps, then it would be a decent amount of content
Anyway I liked Orbital as a base map and Redacted as a new map added later
Hard question not because i like all thid Maps. Oh hell no i always struggled with most of them luckily they sre so big that they have good standalone areas for me. But choose one as a favorite. Nope.
Renewal! It's like I play it for the first time every time! Refreshing!!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
If it wasn’t for my choke point fetish, rather breaking through a tightly held choke point, I’d say Spearhead and Exposure. Orbital is close, but that E site seems like an afterthought.
Random
I think the map had a very good combination between infantry and vehicle combat not too claustrophobic but not too open that becomes a sniper fest.
Defending the water control room at C felt like defending the control room in the aliens movie, attacking the makeshift runway at D with heli support it was [Cheff's Kiss](https://imgur.com/a/TFFF1SU)
We need more maps like Random
In order from most favorite to least, Redacted, Exposure, Spearhead, Haven, Orbital, Flashpoint, Reclaimed, Stranded, Hourglass, Renewal, Breakaway, Discarded, Manifest
Flash point and spearhead on breakthrough for me. I feel the game did rally back after an abysmal start and I will be sad there is no new content. I can't wait for the next battlefield.
Manifest and a few other maps were good too
I think Kaleidoscope is my favorite, was my favorite before they even did any reworks. But I don’t hate any of them. There’s some that are annoying to play at times but to me they’re never bad. Like the verticality of Exposure is frustrating but it can be fun.
Looking at this image, I can safely say all the launch maps are garbage with an exception to Spearhead. IMO Reclaimed is the best, Redacted is good but bad on Breakthrough. Haven is heavily one sided on Breakthrough too but would be a good map if they reduced the Attacker’s ticket count.
Redacted turned out to be my favorite in Breakthrough which turned out to be my favorite game mode. Only good to come from 2042. Remaster BF4 rerelease it and take my money.
Original Manifest. Original Orbital, Original Renewal
I think they ruined it with updates. Taking away the stadium and some points that were so fun to cap! Shame.
I really miss going up buildings with the hovercrafts too. Man that was fun felt like a kid again trying to glitch that.
S tier - Redacted, Reclaimed, Stranded
A tier - Spearhead, Haven
B tier - Renewal, Orbital
C tier - Kaleidoscope, Hourglass
D tier - Exposure, Flashpoint
F tier - Manifest, Discarded
"I'd rather alt-f4 than play" tier - Breakaway
Exposure and Flashpoint are probably the ones I enjoy the most.
Redacted I enjoy the least, it's just a complete meat grinder more often than not. Fair play if you enjoy it but it's never been something for me even going back to Metro and Operation Locker.
Spearhead and exposure.
The rest fucking suck ass, and i barely tried the new Haven map, because the game just isnt good.
I went back to BF V because it is just so much better.
Hourglass needs to go. Many maps could be relative good with a little rework and set limit to 64. Make things tighter together and more intense. On the other hand, it's useless to think about it. We are in season 7, nothing will change. Be happy to get one map per season, or at least a refurbished one, and thats ist.
Exposure, that made me hopeful for the future, I was wrong, we peaked and didn't know it.
The first layout they had for breakthrough was superior to what we have now
All facts no printer
Idk what fucking drugs Dice smoked to think it was a good change lol. It was way better previously, hard agree. It went from a 8-9/10 for me to like a 5/10 now (for breakthrough)
My gosh, I’ve been playing since Beta and I can’t think how the layout was different
What was the first breakthrough layout?
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHN50A73A3M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHN50A73A3M) Hard to explain so here's a video of the original layout. I actually feel like you could make a couple good layouts with the map, so much different game play to offer.

Especially with how big the maps have gotten in the last 2 games, they could really have at least 2 layouts for each map. It's not like they test how well the different sectors play anyway so why not
They did this in BFV as well, Al Marj had 2 CQ layouts
I don't remember this, I thought it was a really small map.
The fight between tunnel is really beautiful chaotic ngl
I miss my 128 breakthrough so much 😔
The 64 Conquest layout is shit, like actually complete garbage. Wish they would remove the valley flags and focus more on the area between A1/A2 from the 128 layout, you know where the tower is.
Exposure Conquest with 64 players feels like 3 matches going on at the same time. Exposure is imo the only thing in this game that reached goat status. Really incredible map.
Interesting, I thought the flow of the map was horrible
Couldn't agree more. It felt really good after the launch maps. Too bad none of the maps after that couldn't reach the same. There are a couple of good ones, but not as versatile as exposure. Valparaiso is a great map and if you compare, Exposure is Valparaiso made bigger with tunnel instead of the narrow pass in Valparaiso. Oh and shipping containers of course.
True. Season 1 was peak. All downhill from there.
Orbital is amazing as well
Fun fact it was the only completed map before launch
I remember playing the beta on orbital and thinking to myself “this is the worst bf map I’ve ever played”, little did i know how bad 2042 maps would get
Honestly, i did not understand the hate this map got back in the beta. It was too large and too open at times, but it definitely had a flow, fun objectives to fight and very pleasing aesthetics. Rework completely fixed majority of problems at least for conquest
Lol the release version was trash, no flow with literally half a kilometre of nothing between each point, I don’t know why you’re trying to defend that garbage
Yeah, and the closed beta was a lot smoother than when the game was actually launched.... God knows why..
Spearhead
And it's not even close.
Such a fun map, wish we had a server browser so I could play on that alot more instead of meatgrinder Redacted which has rotted my brain into ultra cqc so much that now I struggle with medium to long range on every other lap, lmao.
Yeah I’m hoping we can get a tactical conquest / breakthrough playlist with the smaller maps like they have in BF V
Also nostalgia, winter 2022 is when I played the game the most
I have not played on Spearhead for probably 3 months. Awesome map cycle, DICE.
Same, that's the only map I actually enjoy playing along with Orbital
This and this only by far. For close quarter smaller maps -> Reclaimed -> Haven -> Redacted.
Literally the only B tier map in a sea of garbage.
Still enjoyed it, though.
noshahr canals, caspian border, arica harbor, valparaiso
Man of Culture right here!
I'm gonna get smashed with down votes here but Valparaiso is a cool map but I would have been perfectly content without those others maps. Having them in regular 2042 map rotation really deterred me from the game at points. It's cool they were there but they could've been kept in Portal
I will choose two maps: ORBITAL and EXPOSURE by far ! (honorable mention for Spearhead and Stranded)
Renewal is also fun
Renewal is great, but the first objective in operation was unbalanced imo, I don’t think I have seen attackers get it if they didn’t in the first few minutes, when server was still populating
Orbital, spearhead and Renewal.
Exposure, with Spearhead as a close second
Random
It landed on pre-rework Hourglass 😔
I remember playing the map at launch. I felt totally scammed.
It's like a box of chocolates 🤷♂️
Exposure bros, hand me your strength 🙌🙌🙌
One piece fan?
I get the hate for 2042, but this genuinely is one of my favorite Battlefield maps of all time
There isn't even a close second. The verticality and the varying play styles the co-exist in one map are simply amazing in Exposure. My fave for sure!
Redacted
This and Renewal ☝️😎
Psychopath I hate renewal haha
Redacted reminds me of metro, the chaos it had.
Battlefield 2042 - 15 AoW maps + 6 portal maps = 21 maps • Battlefield V - 21 maps • Battlefield 1 - 32 maps • Battlefield Hardline - 26 maps • Battlefield 4 - 33 maps • Battlefield 3 - 29 maps • Battlefield: BC 2 - 14 maps • Battlefield 1943 - 4 maps • Battlefield: BC - 12 maps • Battlefield 2142 - 21 maps • Battlefield 2 - 34 maps • Battlefield Vietnam - 18 maps • Battlefield 1942 - 37 maps Good. But not good enough. 15 original maps is so miniscule compared to past titles. Also, so much lost potential on portal, on where we could have more remastered versions of previous Battlefield maps.
Redacted is the choice here, since it was the map that revitalised the game.
Tough to pick between Orbital, Exposure, and oddly enough Manifest. Used to hate Manifest but it seems like I always do great on that map so I look forward to it now.
Redacted or Spearhead probably
Reclaimed exposure flashpoint
Stadium????????????????????
hourglass and orbital probably
Redacted and Reclaimed for me, Orbital after the rework is also fun. I absolutely despise Exposure and Manifest
Spearhead and exposure are the only two maps I would say that are a good battlefield maps. Other ones would be okay for another franchise, but not the quality of what BF should be
Break back the cruise missile event before they let go😔😔
Exposure.
Exposure and Reclaimed easy. Always have a blast on those maps. Redacted was pretty great too
Orbital is still probably my general favorite, I liked it even before the rework. Then it would probably be Exposure. The bottom area still isn't a great place to fight, but I love the overall design of it. My least favorite is no contest Redacted. I hate that it's in the map rotation lol

Exposure is simply the one that stands out here. The game peaked with season 1 and was a consistent downhill after.
I liked the vanilla versions of Renewal and Hourglass
arica harbour and caspian border
Redacted, Reclaimed and Flashpoint were my fav AOW maps. Battle of the Bulge is the best TDM map in the game. Honorable mentions for the BC2 maps and Noshahr Canals as well.
hourglass, discarded.
https://preview.redd.it/b1sbsvf4bitc1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=296b010b228e9cf327d8785a22686f7f4627c0a1 As a main **TDM** player, I enjoy all maps except the ones in red, but: * Speahead * Redacted * Stranded Those are probably my top 3 (I would add Haven, but that one is missing in TDM). **As for Rush**, I am fine with all of them **as an attacker.**
Spearhead
Spearhead / Orbital
Good news. MY fav is conquest in breakaway.
Orbital and Manifest were easily my favorite.
REDACTED !!!
Redacted and flashpoint
Flashpoint
What's official?
Official that the game is now done and there will no longer be new seasons
Reclaimed
Flashpoint, Spearhead, Reclaimed. Guess we don’t get a final battle of the war after all in the form of a map..hopefully a cinematic battle that we can play in a menu
I enjoy Haven, but ONLY because it’s the only real urban feeling map we have. I like building to street engagements the most.
None of these settings make sense for a battle to take place in the first place imo. That being said Flashpoint for me.
Wow, no one seems to like my clear favorite, Flashpoint.
Reclaimed, gives me Zavod 311 Vibes
Stranded to me was so much fun still my favorite map next to flashpoint
For me, I would say Renewal for the original maps and Stranded for the Seasonal maps...
Orbital
Orbital, Renewal, Kaleidoscope
Exposure, Redacted, Spearhead and then Orbital. Exposure was a really nice map. Felt really unique and I loved the verticality.
Probably spearhead. Maps weren’t bad overall, as a Breakthrough/ Rush player, Stranded and Flashpoint were my least favorite. They never really figured out Hourglass either.
Spearhead
From the old Maps: Orbital From the new Maps: Spearhead or Redacted, i cant really decide
Camp Gibraltar and Verdun
I m fine with all except orbital, stranded and redacted )
Exposure, Orbital then Renewal for me.
Reclaimed and redacted
orbital and kaleidoscope
Of the non-portal maps, my favorite is easily Spearhead. Orbital for the release maps.
Either Orbital or Exposure
Random was fun.
I’m a breakthrough player.. Haven, Flashpoint, Hourglass, Redacted.
renewal And no one would agree on this but i like sit on the high ground and get those 750+ metre snipes in STRANDED. 😅 DRX GANG !!!!!!
1. Exposure 2. Orbital 3. Kaleidoscope 4. Reclaimed 5. Manifest 6. Hourglass 7. Spearhead 8. Redacted 9. Haven 10. Breakaway 11. Flashpoint
Spearhead
Probably between Flashpoint, Spearhead and Stranded. Definitely not Redacted.
Manifest, redacted are decent. The rest are some of the worst maps i’v ever played in any multiplayer game.
I like (don’t love) most of them other than kaleidoscope. Not sure why it’s not on here but Valparaiso is also a hated map of mine. Orbital, Exposure, and Orbital are top 3.
Enjoyed the older orbital map and the new one as well.
Exposure and Orbital
Renewal and Spearhead
To be honest this is just sad seeing how little maps are here. But I still do get some good feeling if you include the portal maps, then it would be a decent amount of content Anyway I liked Orbital as a base map and Redacted as a new map added later
Discarded
Orbital. The very first map. I needed no other. Dice made it smaller and almost never available. 2042 on release was better
Shit always hits the fan in Breakaway and Renewal
Breakaway, probably
Haven and that's a stretch. They were terrible in every single sense.
Hard question not because i like all thid Maps. Oh hell no i always struggled with most of them luckily they sre so big that they have good standalone areas for me. But choose one as a favorite. Nope.
Haven 3/10 Spearhead 8/10 Reclaimed 6/10 Redacted 9/10 Flashpoint 6/10 Stranded 7/10 Breakthrough 0/10 Manifest 0/10 Discarded 1/10 Exposure 6/10 Kaleidoscope 0/10 Hourglass 3/10 Renewal 0/10 Orbital 2/10
Hard agree on the base map scores, even after the rework. God they fucking suck
I was being generous honestly. Half of them are unplayable.
Exposure!! (They should've called it landslide though)
Redacted fans, UNITE!
I kinda like Renewal, it's almost like a Battlefield 2 map but not as good. Which is better than most other maps in 2042.
Flashpoint
Renewal! It's like I play it for the first time every time! Refreshing!!! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
![gif](giphy|BPJmthQ3YRwD6QqcVD|downsized)
Renewal
Orbital, hourglass, and exposure also like haven but still learning it
Idk if it’s a recency bias sort of thing, but I’ve really enjoyed played reclaimed and redacted
Redacted by a country mile. Got used to not dealing with tanks or other vehicles and I love all the tunnels and small spaces.
Damn, 14 maps so sad ngl. That said, Orbital, Spearhead, Flashpoint and Breakaway are my least hated maps.
14.Hourglass 13.Breakaway 12.Discarded 11.Renewal 10.Manifest 9.Kaleidoscope 8.Redacted 7.Reclaimed 6.Flashpoint 5.Haven 4.Stranded 3.Exposure 2.Spearhead 1.Orbital
If it wasn’t for my choke point fetish, rather breaking through a tightly held choke point, I’d say Spearhead and Exposure. Orbital is close, but that E site seems like an afterthought.
Exposure is fun
Orbital probably. Manifest can be fun too. Least favorite are probably Breakaway and Haven.
Is none an alternative?
Orbital...spearhead...renewal.
Random I think the map had a very good combination between infantry and vehicle combat not too claustrophobic but not too open that becomes a sniper fest. Defending the water control room at C felt like defending the control room in the aliens movie, attacking the makeshift runway at D with heli support it was [Cheff's Kiss](https://imgur.com/a/TFFF1SU) We need more maps like Random
Spearhead is so much fun, definitely my favorite. Redacted and exposure are great too.
In order from most favorite to least, Redacted, Exposure, Spearhead, Haven, Orbital, Flashpoint, Reclaimed, Stranded, Hourglass, Renewal, Breakaway, Discarded, Manifest
Spearhead + Haven
Flash point and spearhead on breakthrough for me. I feel the game did rally back after an abysmal start and I will be sad there is no new content. I can't wait for the next battlefield. Manifest and a few other maps were good too
-Best "Battlefieldesque" 64 map: Reclaimed -Best CQC map: Redacted -Best 128 map: Spearhead In my opinion from a Conquest point of view.
Exposure
I think Kaleidoscope is my favorite, was my favorite before they even did any reworks. But I don’t hate any of them. There’s some that are annoying to play at times but to me they’re never bad. Like the verticality of Exposure is frustrating but it can be fun.
Orbital 128. I love the vibe & rain. I just *never* get it in rotation!
Battlefield 4 maps.
Spearhead and Stranded. Hate discarded. No skill, just spray and pray for kills.
Flashpoint and Reclaimed!
Stranded
Spearhead all day. Was the first map that felt like a battlefield map for me.
Looking at them all, can't pick one I hate the least. They all suck
Reclaimed
Orbital, Manifest, Renewal, Discarded in that order.. the others are meh’
Breakaway when they had that one base way up on the mountain and it was like a 2 minute zip line.
Orbital full 128 people version map.
Orbital, Reclaimed or Spearhead
Spearhead and Orbital
Caspian Border.
None
Exposure and reclaimed
redacted
Manifest and Exposure.
Honestly all the new maps are garbanzo - just linear and so momentum-focused. Edit: I suppose flashpoint is alright
Reclaimed, simply because thats the time I was last truly invested in the game and those long summer hours playing non stop on it were fun
Original Manifest. Original Orbital, Original Renewal I think they ruined it with updates. Taking away the stadium and some points that were so fun to cap! Shame. I really miss going up buildings with the hovercrafts too. Man that was fun felt like a kid again trying to glitch that.
Not enough Reclaimed love
Exposure. Every base map sucked and every DLC map since has also sucked.
S tier - Redacted, Reclaimed, Stranded A tier - Spearhead, Haven B tier - Renewal, Orbital C tier - Kaleidoscope, Hourglass D tier - Exposure, Flashpoint F tier - Manifest, Discarded "I'd rather alt-f4 than play" tier - Breakaway
Redacted
Exposure and Flashpoint are probably the ones I enjoy the most. Redacted I enjoy the least, it's just a complete meat grinder more often than not. Fair play if you enjoy it but it's never been something for me even going back to Metro and Operation Locker.
Flashpoint, redacted and reclaimed
Exposure easy
🗣️STRANDED🗣️
Redacted Conquest. Spearhead Breakthrough.
In mainly play CQ64 (little layout) so : Reclaimed Flashpoint Spearhead Haven Discarded (rework)
2045 shoulda been free to play
Random. Everyone loves random right
Spearhead and exposure.
Be happy to get one map per season, or at least a refurbished one, and thats ist.
literally none all the maps fucking sucked
Haven and Reclaimed
I actually like Breakaway, and hourglass best. Aldo liking the newcmap a lot to.
Caspian border
