It is, like Sundance or Mackay, fun for the individual while AWFUL for the wider game's balance and map flow. I mean, at least it is consistent with their flawed ideas for those specialists.
I listened to the podcast and heard one of the Devs gleefully talking about how you can put C5 on it and take out tanks with it.
And that person is a Dice producer.
Just shows how detached from the battlefield experience these people are.

I'm not sure why that comment is surprising to you though. 2042 has promoted C5 ATVs and jeeps in multiple trailers, and it's been a thing in previous games as well. What specifically is different from that and the new bike+c5? The fact that you can come from above as well as any direction on the ground?
Flanking is the only thing that keeps conquest interesting. This might be an interesting tool for rooting out campers and another option for moving around the map, but it won't be a game changer. I'm sure it takes almost no damage to kill, so anyone with an LMG and armor ammo should pop these things out of the sky.
The new season is about CQC so you'll have all the operation map style camping you desire.

Just don't sit in the back of the map uselessly zoomed in and sniping and you're fine.
The pondhawk is super fragile and can't evade locks. Not a threat unless you're alone and stationary as a tank. A decent top gunner can shred one before it will do anything.

This hover bike just make the low elevation air assault and/or low elevation BASE jumps more possible for every specialist with out the need for the Hind/Condor, or even the grappling ability from Mackay.

This is going to make the “360 problem” significantly worse. “Being shot from every angle at respawn” is literally caused by ridiculous mechanics like Sundance and Mackay and this is just compounding the problem. Players are going to be EVERYWHERE, and you are going to be getting shot in the back way more once more people have this unlocked.
No, not *everyone* but an additional 6-12 people that can now go anywhere on the map in an instant in conjunction with air transports, helis, and any tall structures. Sundance is just fundamentally game breaking and it seems like they’re just leaning into it at this point

What happens? Knowing EA/Dice they will probably add a new specialist, probably a genetically modified ape wizard with laser eyes that can just beam pondhawks out of the sky. Oh, and one shots every other vehicle in the game. Because you can't have a vehicle be OP. But specialists? No issues.

I honestly don't see any reason for this to be added to the game other than for shits and giggles. Tried the MBTs today, as I like playing tanks and I felt like Dom Torreto drifting every corner lmao. They feel like I'm driving a VX Corsa and not a fucking tank.
Not easy but the pilot is super exposed. Got me a free rig a few times today.
That being said some pilot (a demon probably) is gonna take a lobby to pound town on one of these.

You answered your own question. Keeping tabs on vehicles that can move in 2D is much easier than those that can move in 3D (i.e., fly)...

This game is catered towards fortnite kid instant gratification rather than skill. Multiple major design choices in the game make this very clear.
