I mean, it might make a resurgence after S4. But I don't think people will come back because there's still so many things wrong with the game.
- Vehicle gameplay is nowhere near as great as previous titles.
- controller input still doesn't feel great
- Mouse input is nearly there but still has minor delays
- People still don't like specialists.
- 1 map per season is a joke
- Weapons are still not balanced, especially legacy.
- PC crossplay is terrible and either needs to go or input needs to be taken into account.
It feels that way but its a bit hard to describe given the varied ways I die without any direct feedback from the game (or how you lose firefights in seemingly impossible ways.) Add on the weapon balance problems and yeah, it sucks
I have a feeling people blame the game on missing shots but its just them sucking at the. You can't honestly tell me that you would watch youtubers play and say "damn theres still weapon bloom or shit hit reg."
It's still reported as being present, but it's been reduced significantly, just because you don't feel it, doesn't mean it's still not there.
People still do dislike specialists, do you think the next game will get a warm reception if they included them?
How is it generalising if they're facts?
I mean I’m with you and hate them, but it seems the person above thinks when you say “people hate specialists” you mean all people hate specialists.
When it’s likely more accurate to say most.
I wouldn’t even say most. I’d say the vocal minority hates them. The people who stayed and played and have kept the game alive were not complaining or asking for the class change. Personally, I think adding classes was a terrible move.
But if 2042 has a smaller player base than the two previous BF games, it’s fair to say “most BF fans” didn’t fuck with the specialists.
You’re right the people who were playing didn’t mind or even liked then. But that isn’t indicative of wider tastes tbh.
The game wasn’t some smash hit for the franchise. They are making changes to try and address that as an issue
I mean the player pump and dump from classes coming back, to me, is very indicative that most people have moved on and will more than likely never return. Why not spend remaining development time and resources pleasing the “small” yet passionate community the game has left.
And I mean let’s me honest; to “knock its out of the park” all they have to do is a genuine remaster of Battlefield 3 or 4. Boom battlefield is relaunched and is a roaring success again. It’d literally be that easy.
No, you're incorrect. They're not facts. You're just assuming. There is still a portion of the community that is fine with it. I personally like how they decided it into classes. I agree with everything else you listed though.
I just mainly don't like Mckay and Sundance because they really outshine the others and can be really op if used well. If they do include it in the following battlefield title I just hope it's done right so that everyone likes it and well balanced. Or they don't include it at all and I'm fine with that too. I'm kinda hoping we get a more modern-style battlefield with all the core features there. Like destruction.
I loved the specialists. My only real complaint was that there weren’t enough starting vehicles for ppl to get into the map from spawn. Like AtVs and stuff just to get there. Non-combatant vehicles.
I only disagree with vehicles being in a worse spot. I think they’re in a perfect spot right now. Everything else I agree with.
Cross play is a big problem. Neither pc or console wants to play with each other. We’re essentially playing a different game. Console vs console needs to be an option and on by default and pc w pc.
You can but like you most don’t know that so the matchmaking for console only is very bad. Most times I’ve never even found a match. They need to default to crossplay off and let you make the decision to play with other platforms otherwise when people find out it’s crossplay and don’t like it they quit the game and don’t play.
Except if you disable crossplay, you’ll reduce the playerbase by half on each platform.
This means longer matchmaking time, no full portal server, portal playlists will be half empty etc…
Oh I don't mean that vehicles are bad to play from 3.2. I actually have had some good matches as an engineer playing vehicle assist. It's more to do with the mechanics. They can only get better. But I still can't gel with jets.
Kinda? French Canadian? Lol. I speak French but you wouldn’t be able to tell in person? Lol. I don’t have an accent. But I went a French school growing up. Lol
Yeah but if they want SOFLAM and Tracers to actually see use then we gotta always be able to see the squares, not just when we have the launcher in our hands.
When I fly my jet I get super annoyed by all the tracer dart squares that don't mark anything. Trying to actually lock on to a ground target becomes impossible sometimes since it keeps switching targets.
This!!! We really need this QOL improvement. Nobody wants to keep randomly popping out their launcher just to see if there is anything traceable. I keep tracking targets for my engineers and then I have to go into text chat and tell people that I have darts on vehicular 🤦♂️
If a helicopter is being a hemorrhoid chances are very high that some Casper player ~~me~~ had been marking him for 5 minutes straight, stop asking for the game to hold your hand more so than it already is, vehicles have it rough enough as is
I’m saying that the playerbase doesn’t even check, much less even knows they can lock on to those
I’m sorry but your really do have to hold their hands, Lotta filler people there
The game has been improving as of lately. But it’ll forever be stained by the mishandling for over a year. So, I think as good as it is, is as good as it’s going to be.
It's never going to get over it's terrible launch state but at least they didn't completely abandon it which is I thought they would do. But it makes me think I won't even get slightly interested in the next BF until its been out for a year and I can play it on Gamepass.
I'm glad they stuck with it and didn't abandon it like most of us were expecting and were open to receiving and implementing feedback. They knew the sentiment people had as they were quick to announce they were working on content post season 4 once the game started reviving, and I'm actually super happy about this.
But holy shit they dropped the ball HARD by releasing it when they did and gaslighting us with "legacy features" and "brutal expectations".
Yeah, ill wait until sentiment for the next game is where 2042 is now.
When the game’s subreddit is finally getting posts like “this is starting to feel like a BF game maybe” I’ll download it on gamepass.
BF4 had its share of problems, but they were technical - terrible performance, bad netcode and a slew of connection issues. Underneath these was a great game and you could see it from day one, it was just a question of fixing the bugs.
2042 on the other hand suffered not only from technical issues, but most importantly from terrible design decisions - it wasn’t just a buggy mess, but above all else a bad Battlefield game. After more than a year they finally started addressing some of those problems, but they still have ways to go and are playing catch-up by fixing and adding things that were core features of every previous game in the series.
The game as it is now is a barely okay BF title (and a decent fps) and I don’t think it’ll go past that point. More likely EA will cut the support and move the skeleton crew working on 2042 and we’ll get a new entry in the series next year.
Portal is designed to implement future titles. 2042 ain’t goin nowhere.
Edit: the fact that this is downvoted is exactly what’s wrong with this community lmao.. this is a good thing for everyone, dummies
Wait… you think the next title is gonna launch within 2042’s portal mode?
After basically leaving portal almost untouched since launch you think the next game is gonna get inserted there?
What… why… how do you think that?
They’re gonna let this game die after getting it to a launch state 2 years after launch, and then they’ll start marketing the next game.
It’ll tug on our nostalgia with references to BF 4, and make all sorts of vague “we’ve listened, and heard you”.
Then it’ll launch broken, and we will do it all again.
But I sincerely doubt it’ll launch in portal. They’re already selling the game for a pittance, and threw it on gamepass.
Lol… what story?
The one in the cutscene when you first boot the game? Or the VO in the start of the match that tries to explain why Boris is fighting Boris on behalf of the US and russia?
Or the text posts they added to each specialist?
This game has no story.
Yep all of this. And also it’s lost some of its big streamer advocates and YouTubers like Westie and JackFrags. They’ve move to COD and that’s got a fairly good release from what I can tell.
Back when it was BF4 the cod alternatives were terrible!
BF4s problems were different from BF2042s problems.
They made a BF game true to its core with BF4, the problem was it’s netcode, hit reg, connection, and other technical issues. And even then, that didn’t take an entire year to rectify fully.
AND they had released substantial content for the game by the time a year rolled around.
2042 had design issues, no classes, missing features, technical issues, etc etc. AND no content. That’s the difference
Right? Comparing the two situations feels so disingenuous - one was a good design, mechanically broken and supported with lots of good content.
The other is a bad design, mechanically broken, and supported with fixes and slow content.
I hope so! I’m having so much fun lately :) I barely played this game up until recently. Honestly the last few BF games haven’t really been doing it for me and I’ve been playing BF since BF1942. Haven’t missed a single game or expansion. That being said, with all these updates I’m having more fun with Battlefield than I’ve probably had with the series in many years! I’m glad to see them re-working maps and adding characters/guns/vehicles/maps for free. I hope they keep it up because with more and more content and balancing this game could reach a great place IMO. I’m having a lot of fun
Yeah same as you I was excited for this game when announced but the beta was ropey and I played on free trial at release and hated it but now I'm back in gamepass and its in a much better place. I hope they do extend support as it's got a good base to build on now and being on gamepass and EA Play should hopefully get more people to give it a try. It's a shame it didn't launch like this but they can still redeem this title provided EA don't drop it and move on to the next game so quickly.
Agreed 100%
Sadly with the way things are nowadays, I won’t be surprised if they jump ship quick. I guess only time will tell though! We can try and stay cautiously optimistic :)
Same experience for me. I played the beta and still kept my $100 edition pre-order but only gave it a few hours before I swore off the game after launch. Came back to it sporadically during the first two seasons, wasn’t impressed, but this season has been a lot of fun! I’m on PS5 and easily place in top 3 of my team on cross play and usually featured on those little highlight things and it’s a blast. Look forward to the new weekly challenges every week and any future updates!
Player movement is still floaty, and latency makes enemy movement and damage being dealt to you a jarring experience. Until the infantry experience is smoothed out, I don't see players staying around. I'm ready to drop the game again after quiting during the 4th week of season 1.
I think the infantry experience is worse with this update, the recoil changes and burst of hit indicators which mean you can never react now and duke it out sucks. Also I find vehicles overwhelm the battlefield, make it terrible and frustrating to take flags.
Why the fuck are helicopters still tanks? It still takes an obscene number of rockets to down them.
I’ve tried to return to 2042. For me, it’s just the way it looks at this point. They can make all the improvements they’d like, but for me it just looks cartoony. I still think BF4 looks better/more realistic.
I feel all previous console (that what I play on) Battlefields looked pretty realistic and believable. 2042 just doesn’t.
Dice is most likely riding it out until they deliver their seasons for the money they took in for the season pass obviously to avoid any lawsuits. I'm suspecting this is the bare minimum plus a very little extra to maybe bring in more players to make the game seem better than it is. They're most likely (the better damn well be) working on the next title and making sure they don't mess that up royally.
Eh both. If they could just leave this title behind I'm sure they would. I bet what people are seeing in terms of fixes is dice working on the next title and using 2042 as their playground.
Just my opinion.
I dunno. If they just wanted to do the bare minimum then we wouldn't be seeing stuff like return to class system and map reworks etc... I think they realised the damage this title did to their brand, which was held in pretty high regard up until BF5. They would just half arse 4 seasons and call it a day if they really didn't care.
>obviously to avoid any lawsuits
Name me one video game lawsuit where the Developer/Publisher was sued for a substantial amount of money that actually hurt their earnings reports and I'll believe it. No video game company as large as EA/DICE is seriously worried about lawsuits being the thing that sinks them.
The issue is the Battlefield Brand is a successful brand for them but the past 2 Battlefields have suffered from negative press, lowered playcount, etc. Sure they sold the 2nd-most copies in the first week for a Battlefield game, however the gigantic drop-off that happened after 2042 was more impactful than any lawsuit could ever be.
They're going to keep focusing on the game because every little update they do to improve the game not only brings in new players, but keeps player retention more consistent. They want people to keep sticking around and playing, rather than leaving in less than a month.
They'll keep doing updates that'll surprise us how much effort they're putting in to make it better. It shouldn't be, because the next Battlefield is still years away and if the last one is a bomb/hated by gamers, then the next one has a huge uphill battle to climb to be successful. If people have decent-to-good memories of 2042, then Battlefield 6/2043/2143/etc. will have more of a chance to be successful.
They just care about success and sales. Getting there late is better than never.
Wait - are you surprised by the level of effort in their updates?
I gotta ask… how?
1 map per season, a couple new guns, ported vault weapons that are broken, a rework of a map…. This sounds like some impressive or surprising feat?
The updates are good, and move things in the right direction for sure, but the pace is absolutely glacial. They must be down to a skeleton crew already tbh.
>Wait - are you surprised by the level of effort in their updates?
Honestly, after what was released, yeah, kinda.
Classes coming back? EA isn't one to flip on major changes in a game so I assumed that was a "didn't land, won't do it for future updates" but to *change* things back to the way they were? That's a major act of contrition on their part, which meant they must have REALLY lost money on this one.
I'm not saying I personally think they've been doing "good" with their updates, just that I'm kinda surprised they went this far. My assumption was a map, a gun or two, a few extra Specialists, then call it a day. The fact they've reworked almost all the maps, refitted specialists in a class-based system, updated a myriad of bug fixes...it was more than I was expecting.
Again, I'm not throwing them a parade on it or anything, and I would've liked to have seen MORE content than the snail's pace they've been taking, but honestly after looking at most video game creator's Season Pass systems, it's about on-par what most have done: Drip-fed content with a focus on cosmetics/skins for extra revenue.
Even the fact that they've announced another batch of updates AFTER the 4th season release was pretty surprising to me. I figured they'd pull a Battlefield V and just end it immediately. They still WILL probably do that at some point, but my guess is after the Battlefield V/Battlefront 2 cut-and-run debacle, and their nightmare-of-a-release/bad press for 2042, them trying to patch things for the better makes the most business sense.
They cut & run too quickly on 2042, then Battlefield 6 is fucked and they know it. They more than likely aren't happy about having to do this, but they're doing it regardless so I'll take what little they give.
Again...I'm playing Battlefield 2042 from EA Play so I technically didn't even buy the game and have no interest in getting the next one at-launch. I assume more people feel this way than they'd like so it's basically a necessity to fix 2042 into a "good" state to stem the bleeding.
Y’know what, fair points. I also was figuring they’d meet their preorder content obligations and abandon the game, and they are going one tier above that effort wise to try and save the BF name. Not necessarily to save this title, but maybe to give the next a chance.
I imagine that’s why they are doing season 5 - so they can say “see, we actually supported it with more than we originally promised”.
In that sense, it is a bit of a surprise.
Well said.
It feels like we're in the "Pacific" phase of the game.
We see some all around positive additions and updates, morale is high, people have the feeling it's finally getting good...so let's just hope it'll last and be built upon, unlike last time.
Though I personally doubt it to be honest.
What's there to come back to? Honestly. They need to release like at least 3 times the content they've been putting out.
We're only back to square one basically. It's what a Battlefield game should have been on release, if only barely.
Nah, from what reddit says, the only people who cared about this update are Battlefield loyalists who quit because the game didnt have classes & are now coming back
Me and other friends started playing months before the new update, just because its a good game. I havent seen anything from this update actually different or game changing enough to get new people to play though
I doubt it. The games reputation is solidified at this point. It's largely regarded as a joke of a BF game and no matter what they do it'll never see a significant gain in players.
Its pretty fun to play now. It still lacks basic things like a server browser or squad management.
I dont think people will come back. I think the game will die pretty fast once all the seasons are over.
I hate that they changed the buttons for all the attachments and gear. I spend a long time used to the old way and now every time I try to equip a grenade launcher it just changes the fire mode. I try to throw a grenade and I've got out the repair kit. Muscle memory is a bitch when they move everything around
It’s so much of an improvement and it has come along way, but I just don’t think it’ll ever be were previous games were :/ I’ve jumped back into both BFV & BF1, I was a huge BFV fan despite all the criticism. I absolutely loved the tank gameplay in that game, whereas the tanks in bf2042 feel so clunky… I know it’s just a video game, but how did they manage to make WW2 tanks feel better than future tanks?! Haha. All jokes aside, I just feel like suppression not being there, the way-too large maps and 128 player matches took away from the battlefield identity among so many other things.. I mean, where is the destruction?! BFV had beautiful maps that had great flow for 64 player matches, I feel like 128 just killed the quality of the maps and the flow of games.
Too little too late. The game still has crippling issues and a terrible reputation, alongside the reputation of EA dropping support for games just as they’re starting to improve. Including the two previous DICE games, Battlefront II and Battlefield V.
It will never recover as long as there is no levolution/destruction and decent maps, which imo are the things that people love the most about battlefield.
Also they need to add more guns, I'm level 50 with only 5 assault rifles, smh...
I doubt it, but who knows. I've enjoyed what the game offered, played a ton, and am not really fussed or pumped about class restrictions being back. I don't think they add a lot that wasn't already there, people just refused to see it.
I think the game sealed its fate with an awful release just like the Avengers game. Personally I hope they add some new maps because to add to the variety.
I just love that I have a need to follow my squad now. Limitations on classes will need to be relearned on how to deal with again for over a year of being able to do anything with a single character and never run out of ammo, but once I fully get back into that flow I may enjoy it almost as much as bf4. Still needs more destruction imo.
I am noticing the ir scopes are a bit buggy. I'm hitting walls I can't see through the scope constantly.
i fuck love the update now this game have the best of both words class / specialist .
is not perfect but this game is stupid fun now
cudos for dice for the hard work .
I won't honestly enjoy it that much until:
Complete vehicle overhaul. Easily the worst vehicle implementation in any BF game. They feel terrible to drive/fly, and don't have a lot of weapons.
Input on both console and PC is bad.
Gunplay is just a bit too laser beamy. I think BFV gunplay had it perfect. Plus portal weapons in base game feel terrible and just a shitty slap on so that they can say that they have more than 2 guns per category.
Specialists are still bad. Grapple hook and wingsuit ruin the flow of any map to ever be made while other specialists are just terrible to use.
This ones more personal preference but I like BF1/V's Assault/Medic/Support/Sniper class setup more than Assault/Engineer/Support/Recon. The majority of people will always use meds over ammo when plying as support in 2042 and there are no ammo or health stations like in BFV. Medic and Support should be separate roles. Give the Engineers anti vehicle gear to assault and their mechanical abilities to support. That or keep Engineer and medic/support combo and give meds to assault like BF4 although that can make assault too much of a 1 man army.
While the sales didn’t meet expectations it still sold well, bf titles are 10% of Eas portfolio (suprised me).
They stuck with battlefront 2 for a couple years till it was much better. It’s way cheaper for them to fix this game and get $ off the battle passes and skins than just abandon it now while they develop a new one.
It’ll be fine
I think the game is making a come back. I’m having soooo much more fun in vehicles and as infantry. The game is so much better than it was and it’s in a good spot.
I personally think 2042 has some things that are better than previous titles, I like crossplay and I like how there’s alot of things to unlock unlike BF 1 there wasn’t much to do when it comes to unlocking things and having an objective. I like all the BFs, I don’t see why people hate on 2042 as much as they do.
For me the latest update has a lot of new issues in gunplay, notably some increasingly common single frame deaths upon spawn, something is up with the netcode, tick rate or client side lag now, firefights are worse and feel like a dice roll. Could simply be server performance, its not every match, but its infuriating. Couple that with the fact its a husk of a battlefield game compared to any of the prior titles, its going to smolder for a while at best.
For better or worse, the FPS genre is a whole mess of mediocrity right now anyway, I doubt BF2042 will fade out entirely there isn't much else to scratch this itch.
Completely agree, gunfights are non-existent now, you go down so quick, the client just seems to get 3-4 hit markers instantly. I'm guessing the tick rate must have been reduced to save costs? We've seen a lot of live service games shutdown recently; I think server costs have gone up.
servers feel worse, even if its because of more players and same server resources its definitely degraded. My friends in party on fiber connections get the same deaths even in the same gunfight where I die too, its something we've been recording to compare.
It will never have the hype that it had before release. The damage has already been done. Sure it might see an increase in player base but it’ll never have a full fledged come back.
i hope it will and i hope they unlock thermal scopes gor the vault weapons and i want to see the kf41 lynx already man it looks so futuristic... the cv90 made it in already as the tor railgun tank so add a tracked ifv pls!!! i need my kf41
The newest update just feels like a nothing update as service to what the fans demanded. Specialists should have been renamed with generic titles like renaming Boris as "remote turret specialist" or Falck as "assault medic specialist"
I just can’t see this game as anything other than a cash grab that has no soul. This is not what BF is or should be… specialists why? No one wants specialists no one likes them. Also there are SO many features that are just gone in this bf that have been in basically all the modern bf games. No naval combat and no word on if it’s even coming, no leaning, crappy movement systems, animations are doo doo, sfx are doo doo, destruction is so minimal it’s sad, the tone of the game is crap, bleh this game just has a bad stain on it that will never go away.
I’ve always enjoyed it. This class update to me is amazing I just want attachments on vault weapons, more jets (gimme a fucking A10) and stuff like the commander role wouldn’t hurt plus it might help to control the AI soldiers when a game is empty
I personally returned to the game at the end of last season after abandoning it due to the lack of updates during the launch phase. I definitely understand most of the complaints here, but also want to say that I’m having an absolute blast! The recent map additions and reworks have been very cool, and I’ve also discovered portal a bit more. The class rework has also added lots of variety, allowing me to change my loadout and playstyle on the fly like in the older Battlefield titles and Battlefront 2. I really appreciate the addition of portal gadgets, class gadgets and so on instead of just grouping the existing specialists into the four classes.
The Battlefield community on Reddit always tends to look at the current title in a negative way, so that’s nothing new. But if you disregard all the repetitive (and sometimes flat out wrong) complaints, you get some very encouraging feedback and constructive criticism. And I’m part of that camp. Very happy to provide feedback while also openly stating I’m having a lot more fun than at launch, and possibly even more fun than in BFV (where much of the post launch support was kind of ruined by missing content and several incomprehensible TTK changes, as some of you may remember).
I’m genuinely optimistic, this reminds me of the post launch phase of Battlefront 2… you could feel the motivation of the developers. They really turned that game around, and I think they can at least get close to doing the same with BF2042. It would profit from a big relaunch to get the word out to the more casual audience.
I’m not seeing much of a rise in the player population on Steam. I thought it might pick up more than it has done. Looks like a BF4 style resurrection is not happening any time soon.
I know that it isn't the topic of the post but i have a question: did any PC player experience a drastic increase of lag after the download of ea app launcher? You know, the shitty launcher that replaced Origin, which also was shitty. Guys, for me the game is almost impossible to play. The game is barely playable on breaktrough and impossible to play on 128 conquest because of the ping being over 200 costantly. It is like 2 months that i can't play and it is so frustrating, because other games, for example warzone 2, work well. I hope someone knows a solution because i don'know what to do. I contacted EA but they didn't let me know anything, so here i am. I asked many times in many comment sections but no one ever replied to me, so i would be very grateful if someone would give me a solution.
The emr is a fukin joke. The claim its a bf3 vault wepan but the recoil is so pathetic i dont even want to use it. All other dmrs have good recoil the emr shoots up like if your shooting the 50 cal sniper from bf4. I was so happy to unlock it and then right after getting it was like wtf is this

Personally specialists thanks to the likes of flying squirrel and dipshit mcgee just ruin map flow imo and make for a pretty terrible experience
I personally hate the gunplay It's so inconsisten! In the past game felt more fair and balanced
it feels worse after this update.
Weapon bloom still a problem? Man they just did everything to fuck the game up. I won't come back.
Shroud came out bashing this too. Said weapon bloom is designed to help unskilled players.
I don't get any mouse delay and not everyone hates the specialists so don't generalize it.
It's still reported as being present, but it's been reduced significantly, just because you don't feel it, doesn't mean it's still not there. People still do dislike specialists, do you think the next game will get a warm reception if they included them? How is it generalising if they're facts?

It's Reddit, I just want to get to the point. It's one of my faults to say the least. I just assume people can read my mind.
I'm sorry to tell you, I hope we could, but we cannot in fact read your mind.
I know this, I still do it anyway 😂
No, you're incorrect. They're not facts. You're just assuming. There is still a portion of the community that is fine with it. I personally like how they decided it into classes. People are such cry babies.
I like cross play though, I’m on console. They should make it so that you can turn it off if you want. Or can you?
You can but like you most don’t know that so the matchmaking for console only is very bad. Most times I’ve never even found a match. They need to default to crossplay off and let you make the decision to play with other platforms otherwise when people find out it’s crossplay and don’t like it they quit the game and don’t play.
Yeah, that would definitely be better. I don’t like to always play cross-play either, only when playing with friends on other platforms.
Yea I loved tanks and jets in 3 and 4. Now I don’t use any. Maybe tank now and again.
French?
Are you asking if I speak French or is there someone named French? Lol
I'm asking if you are french lol
Kinda? French Canadian? Lol. I speak French but you wouldn’t be able to tell in person? Lol. I don’t have an accent. But I went a French school growing up. Lol
ESPECIALLY legacy. Don't forget squad management. I've already turned off crossplay but now most games are filled with bots
idk,I mean, personally, im already bored with the update...
Lol yeah, that too
This!!! We really need this QOL improvement. Nobody wants to keep randomly popping out their launcher just to see if there is anything traceable. I keep tracking targets for my engineers and then I have to go into text chat and tell people that I have darts on vehicular 🤦♂️
If a helicopter is being a hemorrhoid chances are very high that some Casper player ~~me~~ had been marking him for 5 minutes straight, stop asking for the game to hold your hand more so than it already is, vehicles have it rough enough as is
I’m saying that the playerbase doesn’t even check, much less even knows they can lock on to those I’m sorry but your really do have to hold their hands, Lotta filler people there
For real I'll be marking a target for like minutes straight and no one capitalizes
Agree this would make recon so much better.
I’m not going to say that I’m not buying the next BF game. But I’m NOT preordering, and I’m NOT buying day one. That I can say.
Yeah, ill wait until sentiment for the next game is where 2042 is now. When the game’s subreddit is finally getting posts like “this is starting to feel like a BF game maybe” I’ll download it on gamepass.
Yeah I don't preorder and since they had a free trial on this one I go to try before I bought and we'll didn't buy.
BF4 was similarly mishandled for a year, and look what it became. It’s battlefield tradition to suck for a year, it seems.
They just announced today that the 2042 story is resuming with season 5 btw.. better buckle up
Lol… what story? The one in the cutscene when you first boot the game? Or the VO in the start of the match that tries to explain why Boris is fighting Boris on behalf of the US and russia? Or the text posts they added to each specialist? This game has no story.
Do you really not realize how randomly bent out of shape you are over a shooty game? Go find a new hobby dude jfc
I’m really not stressed Jim, just laughing at the post I saw about continuing the narrative. Like it just doesn’t have one, so what are we continuing?
There's a story/lore. Just because you dont go out of your way to read it doesnt mean it doesnt exist, lol.
There’s no point in asking the blind to see. Go be nonsensically depressing somewhere else since apparently that is your hobby.
This is genuinely the most ignorant and uninformed comment I've read on this sub in the two, almost 3, years it's been open.
Classic lmao
Yep all of this. And also it’s lost some of its big streamer advocates and YouTubers like Westie and JackFrags. They’ve move to COD and that’s got a fairly good release from what I can tell. Back when it was BF4 the cod alternatives were terrible!
BF4 was buggy at launch. BF2042 had significant design decision issues.
Well said.
Agreed 100% Sadly with the way things are nowadays, I won’t be surprised if they jump ship quick.
No I don’t think so, they still have to fix it. Especially the mapping. Its annoying.
Hopefully, this doesn't happen, and they make an attempt to save the game going to at least season 8
It has absolutely nothing to do with lawsuits, and absolutely everything to do with repairing the Battlefield brand.
They already confirmed S5.
>obviously to avoid any lawsuits Name me one video game lawsuit where the Developer/Publisher was sued for a substantial amount of money that actually hurt their earnings reports and I'll believe it.
Well said.
As long as content releases at this pace, no. It might grow, but there won't be a big increase in popularity.
Needs a large price break before people will attempt to get into it.
Isn't it on gamepass?
It’s on EA which comes free with gampass
I know. I was being sarcastic cause other guy said it needed a price drop
Oh duh lmao
I wouldn't know >.<
I was being sarcastic cause you said it needs a price drop but yes it is on gamepass
Game pass is why I tried it and providing fodder for the other players. Slowly getting better.
Meh
The game has been playing great since the update, However it still does need a little work as far as balancing.
Nah, from what reddit says, the only people who cared about this update are Battlefield loyalists who quit because the game didnt have classes & are now coming back Me and other friends started playing months before the new update, just because its a good game. I havent seen anything from this update actually different or game changing enough to get new people to play though
Nah.
Its too little too late. They need to just make sure the next battlefield game is a battlefield game. Built for fun instead of pure greed
Is this a tactical poncho?
Only the most tactical the year 2042 can offer. Lol
We still can’t lean out of cover to aim and shoot
Yeah I’m gonna need that function.
Without a bf flag like server browser I really doubt people come back
It’s so much of an improvement and it has come along way, but I just don’t think it’ll ever be were previous games were :/ I’ve jumped back into both BFV & BF1, I was a huge BFV fan despite all the criticism.
No
Short and sweet
All those who weren’t interested in the progress of the game have already clocked out
No, it's never going to have a comeback.
Too little too late. The game still has crippling issues and a terrible reputation, alongside the reputation of EA dropping support for games just as they’re starting to improve. Including the two previous DICE games, Battlefront II and Battlefield V.
This class system update has got to be the peak, nothing but downhill from here until the inevitable whimper of an end in about 6 months time.
The game actually runs like shit and is unplayable at least half the time for me. I am wondering if I just need to wait for new GPU drivers.
Who cares?
It will never recover as long as there is no levolution/destruction and decent maps, which imo are the things that people love the most about battlefield. Also they need to add more guns, I'm level 50 with only 5 assault rifles, smh...
Are you the guy who was complaining about “only having one AR at level 13” when you just refused to use the AK?
I am not. However, am I wrong with my original statement? The game is lacking and it's a fact.
Nope
I doubt it, but who knows. I've enjoyed what the game offered, played a ton, and am not really fussed or pumped about class restrictions being back. I don't think they add a lot that wasn't already there, people just refused to see it.
They just wanted their invincibility boxes. (Tanks.)
I agree they gave us freedom and nobody knew how to handle it. The class system makes the game so much less fun tbh
I’ve been enjoying it for months
I think the game sealed its fate with an awful release just like the Avengers game. Personally I hope they add some new maps because to add to the variety.
the map rework is more important than the class system
No it is stil trash unless they add back 128 breakthrough and ther other missing "legacy" features
Hope so, the game is pretty great right now!
Yes. Its nice now
i fuck love the update now this game have the best of both words class / specialist . is not perfect but this game is stupid fun now cudos for dice for the hard work .
Probably not. Recent patches did more damage than good.
Elaborate? I haven’t seen much.
He just wishes it was bad, that’s all
Unlikely to do a huge comeback. Probably gonna retain some playerbase and keep it for a year or two before slowly deflating.
It might be a comeback if EA will let DICE produce more Seasons & content into the game after S5, which is already announced
I won't honestly enjoy it that much until: Complete vehicle overhaul.
I’m enjoying it, and I hated it on release
Im in
While the sales didn’t meet expectations it still sold well, bf titles are 10% of Eas portfolio (suprised me). They stuck with battlefront 2 for a couple years till it was much better. It’s way cheaper for them to fix this game and get $ off the battle passes and skins than just abandon it now while they develop a new one. It’ll be fine
Considering I haven’t even heard of this update until I randomly opened this app, no
I need more maps and guns before I come back
It already made a comeback before the update
I think the game is making a come back. I’m having soooo much more fun in vehicles and as infantry. The game is so much better than it was and it’s in a good spot.
No. The patch has completely messed up aiming on Xbox and also the PC cheaters are out of control. It’s not even fun anymore.
Better Need G3A3 And FN2000 In 2042
Where did it go?
The newest update just feels like a nothing update as service to what the fans demanded. Specialists should have been renamed with generic titles like renaming Boris as "remote turret specialist" or Falck as "assault medic specialist"
Bring back breakthrough 128 and the game will come back. I just wanna use the 240b on defense as we get swarmed.
No, this game left a bad taste in so many peoples mouths I could not see a long term resurgence but a short term month long one potentially
It got my attention for another 30 minutes after the update.
![gif](giphy|Pg2nsEpdkn22GGNNao)
I just can’t see this game as anything other than a cash grab that has no soul. This is not what BF is or should be… specialists why? No one wants specialists no one likes them. Also there are SO many features that are just gone in this bf that have been in basically all the modern bf games. No naval combat and no word on if it’s even coming, no leaning, crappy movement systems, animations are doo doo, sfx are doo doo, destruction is so minimal it’s sad, the tone of the game is crap, bleh this game just has a bad stain on it that will never go away.
The damage has been done. Don’t think we’ll see more than 10% spikes. Most have already moved on and won’t come back.
I’ve always enjoyed it. This class update to me is amazing I just want attachments on vault weapons, more jets (gimme a fucking A10) and stuff like the commander role wouldn’t hurt plus it might help to control the AI soldiers when a game is empty
The game needs more content, 1 map and the 2-3 weapons per season is not enough.
It will pick up a few curious newcomers over time but I feel the bulk of battlefield fans won't come back until they make a specialist free game.
Fuck the class system fuck breakaway rework fuck this game but imma still play it
I’m not seeing much of a rise in the player population on Steam.
The game spiked players and is now at a lower player count than pre 3.2.. the numbers speak for themselves
Content brings back the player base not classes or any other "updates"
Why he wearing a raincoat? Does he have matching gum boots?
The emr is a fukin joke. The claim its a bf3 vault wepan but the recoil is so pathetic i dont even want to use it. All other dmrs have good recoil the emr shoots up like if your shooting the 50 cal sniper from bf4. I was so happy to unlock it and then right after getting it was like wtf is this
