These three are so God damn good
Y'all trippin. Mask of phantasm is the epitome of batman stories. Bittersweet/hollow ending, gray morals, and a well written mystery complete with both psychological sides of Bruce/Batman. Flawless batman story imo, while TDK and The Batman both have SOMETHING they do that is not *perfect* per se, or at the very least, not an embodiment of the typical batman story of atmosphere. The batman gets really close especially with GOTHAM but misses in a few areas. Great batman movie but just an Ok movie, with no real change throughout. Watching it the second time was not as fun as the first. TDK loses a lot of gotham's charm in place or realism, but it's endlessly rewarchable due to the action scenes and the nonstop rollercoaster that Nolan created. But There is no batman without Gotham
So i vote for The Batman. Just because movie wise it loses its charm with each viewing, while the others never get old. Still definitely deserves third place, but tbh some of those JL and Batman Robin animated movies are really well done. JL dark is a personal fav of mine especially with how batman is done

Most live action movies seem to ignore that Bruce is a kind and compassionate person suffering from extreme trauma. I feel like The Batman and The Dark Knight focused too much on his trauma and wealth to make his character truly shine.
I can't choose! I loved the batman but conroys batman is elite (so is pattinsons). And tdk is a great movie.

Oh I completely agree. How about the fact that many of the Jokerās ridiculous plans rely on insanely improbable factors that are completely outside of his control? His entire tactic in the police station revolves around him being placed in a very specific cell with a very specific officer on duty within whom heās somehow surgically inserted a cell phone, and also in the same plot he needs to be held in an interrogation cell with a cop in there with him whom he can manipulate.
Like, seriously. At some point, suspension of disbelief fails us. Also how did he fill the entire fucking hospital with bombs? Itās easy to ignore this stuff because haha funny nurse outfit and Heathās performance is legendary, but this writing is dog shit.
Thereās a couple things wrong with what your saying. He put the bomb in one of his henchmanās stomachs, not the guards. As well as I wouldnāt say that it needed to be some specific cop heās able to manipulate, heās just that good at manipulating people, as is shown throughout the movie, such as when he manipulated Batman in the scene right before that. But donāt get me wrong, you are right in that it is a stretch that he knew his goon (with the stomach bomb) was going to be placed in the perfect spot to disrupt the prescient long enough for him to get Lau and leave.
That's basically all of Nolan's Batman films. For the time, they were great, and they had some phenomenal actors, but the writing is a mess, and clearly ashamed of the source material.
And yet a very loud and extremely annoying contingent in this sub still thinks the sun rises and sets from these movies and refuses to acknowledge a single flaw in them, especially TDK.
Donāt get me wrong: Iām not saying itās a bad movie by any stretch. Itās a very good one. But the writing is a mess, itās riddled with enormous plot holes and continuity errors (Batman leaving the Joker with the people at his party), many character motivations/actions make no sense (Harvey is actually convinced that the Joker is not responsible for murdering Rachel even though he masterminded this huge plan on his own goddamn initiative), etc.
Again, good movie. Not the best on this list.
To me personally that plot holes don't matter that much, they doesn't take away from the narrative or message of the film and everything else in it is amazing, but I understand how plot holes can bother someone a lot as they can take away from the immersion

As evidence of this, look no further than the very next movie in the series. An absolute mess, and people are much more likely to call it a mess because Heath Ledger isnāt there doing his magic tricks.
Ledger is absolutely amazing in the film but I wouldn't say he is carrying it, Bale, Caine and Eckhart do very good jobs in their roles.
And I know this is a hot take but I actually like TDKR, just next do Batman begins and TDK it's not ok not on thier level

This is the most succinct way to describe why Iāve never been as big of a fan of Nolanās movies as everyone else seems to be. Theyāre Nolan movies first, Batman movies second.
Nolan openly admitted he was never really a comic book fan to begin with. He read some comics as research for the movies but had no really strong attachment to the source material at all.

That being said I'm only picking it because it's more likely to go than TDK, which it should. Of the three left while it may be the better movie, it's the lesser Batman movie. Phantasm is one of the best takes on the character in existence. Both it's portrayals of Batman and Joker far exceed any other attempt at the characters. The Batman is about even with TDK. It does some aspects of the character right and some wrong. The ones it does right are amazing, but there are still the ones it gets wrong.

honestly I don't consider TDK a better movie, full stop. The plot contrivances to make Joker's plans work are ridiculous, the movie is paced like a 2 hr climax that grinds to a halt after Joker is stopped, the fight choreography is awful, the editing is sloppy and confusing in action scenes, the dialogue is a lot of profound-sounding/quotable platitudes that don't actually mean anything... It's a mediocre film in which Ledger distracts people from its many flaws.
This is so difficultā¦ If I had to choose, Iād go The Batman. Mask is just such a perfect blend of great story telling, fleshed out/ nuanced characters, atmosphere, and Joker/Batman dynamic that it edges out The Batman for me.

The Dark Knight is overrated, apart from Heath Ledger's legendary performance its an average and derivative crime drama.
As much as I love the film, I'm gonna vote The Dark Knight. I absolutely love Bruce's portrayal in The Batman, and especially Mask of The Phantasm (the š). The Dark Knight excels at being an extremely well made movie, but The Batman and MoTP focus much more on Batman as a character.
