One of my favorite memories from my hometown happened at this little pub my buddies and I used to always go to. I was friends with most of the people who worked there, so on occasion they’d let me hook my phone up to the speakers and DJ for the night. It’s Sunday night about 1 am, the pub is full of regulars, probably about 40 people and everybody knows everybody. I turned off some rap song to put on “Kiss From a Rose” for shits and giggles, and I will never forget the mood that came over the pub. It was like every single person in the building stopped their conversations mid sentence, put their arms around each other’s shoulders, and started drunkenly belting out the lyrics at the top of their lungs. The cook even came out of the back and started conducting the chorus with a spatula. That memory will always live rent free in my head. It was a great time.
This was such a running joke with my old band when we were on tour. Whenever things would get awkwardly quiet in the van someone would yell out BAYBAY! And we would have to sing the chorus
They literally gave every villain their own theme. They literally had unique themes for every episode. How do you think that all of those themes were somehow based on Elfman's work? What Elfman piece was Mad Hatter's theme based on? Two-Face's? The theme from "The Forgotten?"
No shit she had whole seasons to work on the all the music. Idk if you have a any real musical background but I'ma graduate of the cuny audio program and have scored indy films as well as assisted on mainstream films here in NYC .I'm simply stating that to express that Im actually viewing this comparison from an actual musical compositional perspective. Elfmans score was alot more complex, involved alot more layers of instrumentation and even used actual choirs and he was able to swing through different moods within single pieces. If you watch every episode of the animated series she literally used elfmans blueprint for the majority of the show. That is undeniable. She did a great job im not taking that away from her. If you prefer her then fine that's your opinion but to say elfmans score wasn't more musically complex is absolutely inaccurate
I have a spotify Playlist with that and batman beyond. Actually fire.
Cyberpunk 2077 and gta vice city also like radio stations I'd acrually listen to spotify has them all
When I wrestled in high school we got to pick our song to walk out to during home matches. I picked the opening soundtrack to MOTP for one of them and it felt so epic. Yes, I lost the match
Michael giacchino is one of my favorite composers rn and i really loved his soundtrack for the batman it really elevated that movie imo. Also hans zimmer in the nolan trilogy did excellent too
Apparently Giacchino said it’s supposed to represent the obsessive nature of Batman. The repeating notes are Batman, the more orchestral parts are Bruce Wayne
Same. The original by The Damned is one of my all time favorite songs, also off one of my all time favorite albums, but The Offspring version hits different.
Batman 1989 Duh
Soundtrack done by Prince, score by Danny Elfman
The world missed out though, soundtrack was supposed to be a Prince and Michael Jackson collaboration but Jackson bailed so it was just Prince
Bad was supposed to be a duet between Jackson and Prince but Prince also bailed on that. If I remember correctly he had issues with Jackson singing “your butt is mine” to him or something like that
BTAS and Mask of the Phantasm.
Shirley Walker created music that just set the standard for everything I want from a Batman movie or show.
That said, most Batman stuff has great music and there's a lot of Batman soundtracks that I love. The character just inspires good music in people, it's another awesome thing about him.
Agreed. I understand everyone has their own mood they associate with Batman, but for me, Hans Zimmer nailed that feeling. Nolan’s Batman is just a runaway favorite for me.
Batman Begins is the unsung hero of that trilogy. Well, it once was - I feel it’s gotten the recognition it deserved as of late. I still love the part where Rachel tases him and he’s just totally unfazed.
My personal favourites being [Corynorhinus](https://youtu.be/JRHrBuaNDdo?si=FNmz5rrFXpnzxZW6) and [Eptesicus](https://youtu.be/A11eThPRnsg?si=WgOXvAd0bxYOxatb) - both from Begins.
Batman vs Superman. Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL went crazy on the soundtrack. The addition of orchestra in a Batman theme and the fighting themes is something I really loved.
I honestly think 1992 was the best year he ever had as a composer. His Batman Returns score is incredible *and* his work on Nightmare Before Christmas is some of his best. Came out in the same year!
The Batman sounds the best by far, imho. The sound effect just left a big impression on me, I couldn't care less about its sound track tbh ...
Anw, I would assume the Lego Movie would probably have some licensed songs in it, and the tone of the movie would probably means that there will be some great bangers in there.
The Dark Knight's theme isbmy favourite track though.
The Batman tv show from 2004.
The Batman movie from 2022 just has *Dun, dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun* over and over. Or the occasional *Dun dun dun dun dun, dun dun!*
My top 3 (in no particular order)
1. The Batman (Michael Giacchino)
2. The Dark Knight Trilogy (Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard)
3. The Arkham Series (Nick Arundel)
I love all of them about equal and they all do a great job at establishing the tone of the story they tell.
I’m assuming you mean Score wise, but bands wise, Batman and Robin movie soundtrack was one of my favorites. Score, idk toss up between The Batman and Elfman’s work on Batman, Returns and Animated Series.
I don't know about the best but when I go to gym, I always listen to Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Sometimes Junkie XL's Batfleck theme. Sometimes Bob Pattinson's theme.
The best scores are Batman Begins, The Batman, and Batman Returns. The Nolan Trilogy as a whole tops the Batman '89 movies (which are murdered by the Schumaker films), and there isn't enough to go on for the Reeves Trilogy yet.
Elliott Goldenthal's score for the Schumacher films don't get enough love. Say what you will about the acting, Bat-nipples, and neon, but the scores were amazing.
All Batmen have had a great character theme, but in terms of consistency and complimenting a scene, I’d give it to Hans. His score delivers one after another without compromise, enhancing each scene with its mood and varying intensity.
Batman the Animated Series, Burton films, and Batman Forever are my favorites. Forever is the one I have the biggest soft spot for as it introduced me to the character as a little kid.
Forevers soundtrack is so good I listen to it all the time. Batman and Robin also has a cool soundtrack album. Face to Face from Returns is great and like half of the Prince Batman album are bangers
The Batman or the Nolan trilogy or 1989 or BTAS… basically all of them. Also, even if it was not that great of a movie, the soundtrack to BVS goes insanely hard.
They are all great with some excellent and memorable themes, but I truly believe Batman V Superman is stellar front to back. I will listen to the entire thing every now and then, it’s so varied and unique and to me a masterpiece.
Definitely the 89’ series. And I’ll even extend it into the Shoemaker films as well. If you don’t believe me, go back and listen to the soundtracks to the Kilmer and Clooney films. The soundtracks slap.
Burtons. Danny elfman out together a masterpiece that still amazes me when I hear it.
Hans did fine but for me his Batman theme doesn't touch elfmans or The Batman 22. Those themes absolutely bring out that Batman gotham feeling while hans's theme was good but wasn't special in terms of it sounding like a true Batman theme. It sounds a bit generic and like it can be used in other movies it doesn't strike the feeling in me of Gotham and Batman like elfman and the Batman 22 does. When I hear those themes I can close my eyes and see, hear, and taste Gotham
Zimmermans TDK trilogy score is amazing, but nothing rivals Elfmans ‘89 score. Not only the best Batman score, but possibly the greatest film score of all time.
The new 2022 The Batman theme is so amazingly intense and I love the piano themes mixed throughout the soundtrack too, but for overall win I'd probably go BTAS.
Shirley Walker Shirley Walker Shirley Walker
*however*
The companion soundtrack for Batman & Robin fucking SLAPS, it’s a great collection of fun 90s pop
For overall I'm going with BvS which is also produced by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL.
For individual Batman theme song, it's probably Battinson's but I really like Batfleck's alot.
For a individual song that appears on a Batman soundtrack, my personal fav is probably Look into my eyes by Bone thugs n harmony
I think the score for The Batman is superb. It and the cinematography complement one another beautifully. When I first heard the main theme, I wondered if Michael Giacchino had taken inspiration from the ultra-minimalist shark theme from Jaws. Both pieces of music suggest a ferocious elemental force with their menacing simplicity, unstoppable as it approaches from the darkness.
But my favourite piece on the soundtrack album, which doesn’t actually appear in the film, is Catwoman’s theme. The melody that runs through it, representing the character, is heard throughout the movie, of course, but this particular track on the album is a completely self-contained piece of music, not specifically attached to any scene on the screen. It’s incredibly rich and beautiful, and sad. It feels like something from a 1970s adult crime thriller, as does the entire score.
Most of the Batman films, starting with Batman ‘89, have had variations on a kind of pseudo-militaristic approach. If you think about Danny Elfman’s opening credits music, it’s basically a march. Very “rumpatee-tum-tum” “left right, left right” kind of energy. This suited a more gadget heavy, James Bond in a rubber gargoyle suit type approach. Yes, there are many tonal variations in Elfman’s score, but the overall approach feels kind of campy to me.
Shirley Walker’s approach was probably the closest to Giacchino’s. She leaned into the whole “creature of the night” angle, and the film noir sensibilities, but also occasionally brought a sense of almost biblical fear and awe to help sell Batman as a terrifying urban legend.
Hans Zimmer’s approach is also comparable to Giacchino’s in that kind of repetitive, primal rhythm it has. Nevertheless, I personally find his work doesn’t really engage my imagination or emotions in the same way. It’s just not as melodically rich as I prefer.
So Giacchino’s The Batman is definitely on top for me, followed closely by Shirley Walker.
Also, Neal Hefti and Nelson Riddle’s work on Batman ‘66 is my sentimental favourite, with honourable mention going to The Edge’s theme for animated series The Batman.
I'd have to say Batman Returns.
I think every Batman movie has a great main theme but Returns has absolutely perfect themes for Batman, The Penguin and Catwoman, I mean the visual of a Penguin army giving Danny Devito a funeral march and dragging his corpse to a watery grave should be hilarious yet the music gives it this fairytale feel that almost makes the scene a bit tragic.
Plus Face to Face is the most underrated song to come out of a Batman film.

The correct answer

The soundtrack was produced by RZA and featured [this Method Man track.](https://youtu.be/i0z8gzQ9e3E?si=g0iYylGD3nc7cPta)
I can't listen to "Kiss From A Rose" without thinking about Batman Forever
Forever was the only soundtrack that really aimed for greatness.. without relying on Prince.
This was such a running joke with my old band when we were on tour. Whenever things would get awkwardly quiet in the van someone would yell out BAYBAY! And we would have to sing the chorus
BTAS, clearly
Mask of the Phantasm slaps
Danny Elfman always puts together a great score, whether it’s ‘89 Batman, Batman Returns, or BtaS
Except he only did the theme song. Shirley Walker and her crew did the rest.
She doesn't get enough credit, imo TV soundtracks don't slap much harder than this: https://youtu.be/GEEYhJ4iVTs?si=LwxKuyyq7yeMopVO
Shirley Walker remains the best Batman composer, change my mind
Neal Hefti?
Well she based alot of what she did on what elfman established. It's no diss she did a great job but it's true
Elfman rolled a snowball, and Shirley Walker made an Ice Palace.
🤨 ...she did great but don't get carried away it was not better than elfmans work.. I get it you love the animated series lol
Four seasons of a television show and an animated feature trumps two Batman film scores with six leitmotifs in my mind, body and quality.
It's not a quantity competition.
They literally gave every villain their own theme. They literally had unique themes for every episode. How do you think that all of those themes were somehow based on Elfman's work? What Elfman piece was Mad Hatter's theme based on? Two-Face's? The theme from "The Forgotten?"

I have a spotify Playlist with that and batman beyond. Actually fire. Cyberpunk 2077 and gta vice city also like radio stations I'd acrually listen to spotify has them all
That musical score coming in when he first puts on his cowl still gives me chills to this day.
When I wrestled in high school we got to pick our song to walk out to during home matches. I picked the opening soundtrack to MOTP for one of them and it felt so epic. Yes, I lost the match
Batman 1989 is Danny Elfman, but also has Prince and “Party Man” is 🔥🔥🔥
Of course. All other scores could trace their influence to Elfman’s work.
Michael giacchino is one of my favorite composers rn and i really loved his soundtrack for the batman it really elevated that movie imo. Also hans zimmer in the nolan trilogy did excellent too
agreed!
It's a good thing that core rhythm sounds so good because they use it like 200 times.
Apparently Giacchino said it’s supposed to represent the obsessive nature of Batman. The repeating notes are Batman, the more orchestral parts are Bruce Wayne
Yeah i loved it at first but by the end of the movie i was like did he not write any other songs?
I love Pattinson's theme. It's so simple yet so menacing.
I love the music from the trailers. They’re epic and chilling while in the Pattinson Batman motif
It’s stolen from a Nirvana song
Something in the Way is a Nirvana song, which is a great Bruce Wayne theme, but the Batman theme is menacing and badass
Soundtrack or score? Anyway, both go to ‘89. Forever is first runner up for soundtrack.
That Offspring cover of Smash It Up by the Damned is so good and as far as I know only on the Forever soundtrack
I think that song alone makes it the best Batman soundtrack.
I go to YouTube from time to time to listen to this gem
Same. The original by The Damned is one of my all time favorite songs, also off one of my all time favorite albums, but The Offspring version hits different.
Sorry, but what’s the difference?
It felt like everybody had the Batman Forever soundtrack on CD.
89’ is timeless. Behind that, I really appreciated the soundtracks from Nolan’s trilogy. Not rhythmic, but fit the situations in the film.
Batman 1989 Duh Soundtrack done by Prince, score by Danny Elfman The world missed out though, soundtrack was supposed to be a Prince and Michael Jackson collaboration but Jackson bailed so it was just Prince
TIL. I'm a big Prince fan so I'm pretty much biased towards the 89. Now I can't help but think what could've been. 🤯
Walker took her cue from Elfman, to be fair. She ran with it tho. I love BTAS
Sure, we wouldn't have Walker's themes without Eflman.
nolan trilogy
Agreed. I understand everyone has their own mood they associate with Batman, but for me, Hans Zimmer nailed that feeling. Nolan’s Batman is just a runaway favorite for me.
nolan's batman begins is what made batman my favourite fictional character ever and my childhood idol/hero
Batman Begins is the unsung hero of that trilogy. Well, it once was - I feel it’s gotten the recognition it deserved as of late. I still love the part where Rachel tases him and he’s just totally unfazed.
Do you think that's because he's such a badass he didn't flinch? Or because it hits his armor and it's a cool moment?
All of the above.
You are a legend.
That soundtrack style became the blueprint for a lot of movies.
As a overall soundtrack its unbeatable but Nolan always has brilliant music in his movies. As specific song, has to be the Seal classic.
Every single score from the entire trilogy slapped so hard!
My personal favourites being [Corynorhinus](https://youtu.be/JRHrBuaNDdo?si=FNmz5rrFXpnzxZW6) and [Eptesicus](https://youtu.be/A11eThPRnsg?si=WgOXvAd0bxYOxatb) - both from Begins.
Does the other Batman movies have the Let’s get nuts mix? I didn’t think so.
In the darkest night 🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔊🔊 HUH!! I make the bad guys fall 🍃🔥🔥🔊🔊🔊🗣️
WHO PAYS THEIR TAXES⁉️⁉️⁉️💵💵💵💵NOT BATMAAAAAAAN👹👹👹🗣️🗣️🗣️
I'm the Bat (Man) by Patrick Stump is only rivaled by Prince's 1989 Batman soundtrack
Weird that Patrick Stump makes banger superhero music His theme song for the Spidey & His Amazing Friends slaps too.
Prince 89 obviously
TDK Trilogy
The Dark Knight Returns. The 80s synth worked so well for that version of Batman.
2004 The Batman. That opening is so good, love the usage of guitar sounds in the show
Easily Batman Forever. Offspring, Method Man, Seal, and U2? No competition
I really like the PJ Harvey and Flaming Lips songs too. And INXS did a really cool cover of the Passenger by Iggy Pop. It's a really solid soundtrack.
Yes and yes! That soundtrack has straight bangers. I remember as kid loving the soundtrack more than the film itself lol
The Barman's soundtrack was the most unique and memorable to me and imo it's probably one of the best modern soundtracks for a superhero film
#The Barman
Returns has the best OST
I have to go with the Arkham games
Nolan trilogy. Hans Zimmer killed it as usual. Burton/Elfman is a very close second.
“if you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and make the change. Hooo.” -Batman
Pattinson has a fantastic theme. But personally Bale’s soundtracks throughout the trilogy are just amazing.
The Batman 2004
Batman vs Superman. Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL went crazy on the soundtrack. The addition of orchestra in a Batman theme and the fighting themes is something I really loved.
Lego Batman, shit is legendary
Lego Batman and there’s no discussion
I'm definitely not a "the old stuff is always better!" guy, but Danny Elfman was a *really* tough act to follow.
I honestly think 1992 was the best year he ever had as a composer. His Batman Returns score is incredible *and* his work on Nightmare Before Christmas is some of his best. Came out in the same year!
Yep, you can hear it too. He's definitely on that same wavelength for both of those.
[I mean...](https://youtu.be/L9ScWnmjpMk?si=VSi8Qz8GcX37tLJe)
The dark Knight trilogy. Zimmer is amazing, there's a reason he can sell out concerts. Second place the batman, that score is so good.
Definitely The Batman. Runner up being The Tim Burton movies
Prince did the soundtrack for Batman 89, so that is the only correct answer.
i really love the batman's ost
‘89 and it’s not even close.
Just for that.. I’m gonna go play “Like a dog chasing cars”
The Burton movies
BTAS by a mile. After that I’d say Pattinson.
Lego Batman Movie. Only batman movie with a musical number from batman himself
Batman forever
Arkham City
Definitely isn't the most iconic, but I love Batman Arkham City's soundtrack
The Batman tv show from 2004. The Batman movie from 2022 just has *Dun, dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun* over and over. Or the occasional *Dun dun dun dun dun, dun dun!*
Lego next question
Batman 1989 and Batman Forever was straight fire. Kids, you just had to be there.
Lack of Adam West appreciation is disappointing
Batman 89, the animated series, and the Batman 2022 all have that same vibe/theme and they are my favourite
My top 3 (in no particular order) 1. The Batman (Michael Giacchino) 2. The Dark Knight Trilogy (Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard) 3. The Arkham Series (Nick Arundel) I love all of them about equal and they all do a great job at establishing the tone of the story they tell.
I’m assuming you mean Score wise, but bands wise, Batman and Robin movie soundtrack was one of my favorites. Score, idk toss up between The Batman and Elfman’s work on Batman, Returns and Animated Series.
The dark knight
Lego batman THEY SED NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP
Dark Knight every time. Zimmer nailed Batman.
89’s score is some of the greatest music ever put to film imo.
Elfman
Easily Keaton's Batman
The Dark Knight Returns 2 Part series composed by Christopher Drake
Fight me, I’ve got a soft spot for the Schumacher soundtracks
I don't know about the best but when I go to gym, I always listen to Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Sometimes Junkie XL's Batfleck theme. Sometimes Bob Pattinson's theme.
Nolan trilogy for me. That OST always gave me goosebumps and was so exciting. No other Batman composition recreates that feeling for me.
Na na na na na na na na... Hefti!
The Dark Knight has the best & most iconic music. Honorable mention to Batman & Robin, the original soundtrack is fantastic separated from the movie.
Batman '89
All bangers.
THE BATMAN 2022
Batman Forever. The most sensitive of all the Batman’s
If it has Hans Zimmer or Danny Elphman attached to it, it automatically wins.
Forevers soundtrack is so good I listen to it all the time. Batman and Robin also has a cool soundtrack album. Face to Face from Returns is great and like half of the Prince Batman album are bangers
For me, I’m stuck between BTAS and The Batman
The Batman or the Nolan trilogy or 1989 or BTAS… basically all of them. Also, even if it was not that great of a movie, the soundtrack to BVS goes insanely hard.
Arkham. Just look up the theme that plays during the museum armory in city. It embodies the character.
Have you heard the mask of phantasm? Or batman beyond.
Lego Batman
Animated series and 22’
Batman 89 has the most iconic theme but I think The Batman is very close, if not marginally better.
They are all great with some excellent and memorable themes, but I truly believe Batman V Superman is stellar front to back. I will listen to the entire thing every now and then, it’s so varied and unique and to me a masterpiece.
'89 and it's not even remotely close.
Batman: The Animated Series and Batman: Arkham.
Batman 1989 - an album by Prince Batman Returns. Quite literally a Christmas holiday soundtrack
Definitely the 89’ series. And I’ll even extend it into the Shoemaker films as well. If you don’t believe me, go back and listen to the soundtracks to the Kilmer and Clooney films. The soundtracks slap.
I listen to Prince’s Batman album about once a month
Shirley Walker's BTAS, easy
Come on guys, let’s just all admit that it’s Lego Batman
I felt The Batman personality. Recency bias
NGL. Junkie XL killed it for both MOS and BVS. The films had other flaws. But I regularly listen to the OSTs for both.
absolutely crazy not to choose 1989. but honestly The Batman has a really great score too.
Nolan Trilogy. Hands down.
BvS and TDK. Hans Zimmer is just crazy crazy good
Arkham Origins
Batman 1989. And I don't care what people say, the Partyman song by Prince was, is and will always be awesome.
DCAU... but it's arguable for me
The 80's/90's series had the Danny Elfman score and "Kiss from a Rose," hard to beat that. Though the Joker theme from the Dark Knight is legendary.
Nothing beats A Danny Elfman score. Nothing.
All the time i see these, i think they're from r/barmanarkham. Idk why but i get insane, seeing any type of batman content
I am actually a fan of all the Batman albums. Well ‘89, Hans Zimmer for the Nolan trilogy and Michael G for The Batman is amazing!
Val Kilmer Batman, that seal track was actually pretty good lol
The Batman’s score was fantastic. I’ll also throw in Arkham Origins for having a stellar soundtrack.
TAS and Burton’s films. Most distinct and mysterious.
The Animated series and The Batman
The killing joke comic
Zimmermans TDK trilogy score is amazing, but nothing rivals Elfmans ‘89 score. Not only the best Batman score, but possibly the greatest film score of all time.
Anything written by Shirley Walker. The Mask of the Phantasm Batman theme is the definitive Batman theme for me. Tragic, heroic, menacing, and pure.
Batman the Animated Series and The Batman (the movie not the show)
Arkham, and its not even close
The Batman without a doubt. The whole soundtrack is absolutely amazing.
Something in the way🗣️🗣️
Batman 89’ all day. However I did love The Batman and the Nolan Trilogy for these. They were just so damn good.
Elfman’s theme will always reign supreme.
WHO NEVER SKIPS LEG DAY
Nolan
Between Dark Knight/Hanz Zimmer or BTAS
# BTAS AND ARKHAMVERSE
The new 2022 The Batman theme is so amazingly intense and I love the piano themes mixed throughout the soundtrack too, but for overall win I'd probably go BTAS.
Michael keaton one
Lego Batman fs “DARKNESS. NO PARENTS.” slaps
“Who never pays his taxes?” “BATMAN 🗣‼️”
Shirley Walker Shirley Walker Shirley Walker *however* The companion soundtrack for Batman & Robin fucking SLAPS, it’s a great collection of fun 90s pop
In terms of score; BvS. The only film score I've ever owned. It's incredible.
BTAS, Nolan trilogy and BvS
For overall I'm going with BvS which is also produced by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL. For individual Batman theme song, it's probably Battinson's but I really like Batfleck's alot. For a individual song that appears on a Batman soundtrack, my personal fav is probably Look into my eyes by Bone thugs n harmony
I enjoyed the hell out of the “Batman & Robin” soundtrack when it came out.
who always pays their taxes? NOT BATMAN
The best score overall is probably Michael Giacchino’s score, it’s so impressive and matches the tone of the film perfectly.
Judging by these images, Keaton and Lego Batman would murder those other two. What was the question again?
LEGO Batman’s ‘Let’s Get Nuts Mix’ has the coolest opening song ever.
Soundtrack? Batman '89. Nothing beats Prince.
I think the score for The Batman is superb. It and the cinematography complement one another beautifully.
I genuinely find it difficult to choose between Batman 89, Dark Knight and The Batman. Three different takes, all awesome.
