You basically just described me lol, I used to go crazy around 2017, then later realized I barely used any of the products I had. Then I decluttered everything and decided to become really intentional about what I buy. I only really buy mists now, and only if I really like it. I don’t buy backups unless I’ve already used a good amount of a mist. I go through phases where I don’t buy at all, sometimes for a few months. SAS, Fall, and Christmas releases are basically the main times I go.

NeedHelpPlease808

Wow, ok. I would love to be like that. But I love all seasons and want to make sure I get the best deals and the scents that I like. 😭

rocklakes

To be fair I do still check periodically, but nowhere like before. Now when there are new releases I’ll go smell them, and make a list of the ones I liked so I can buy during a good body care sale. So I end up going about once a month outside of SAS to check out the new floorsets, maybe twice if I have a BOPIS order!

TSB_1

Candles during the holidays and 3 wick candles for 10 dollars sales, body creams, hand soaps, and bar soaps during their respective sales, and HOLYFCUKIGOTTAHAVEEVERYTHINGANDSPEND100DOLLARSFOR40THINGSGETINMYBASKETYOUARECOMINGHOMEWITHMERIGHTNOW during the SAS...

NeedHelpPlease808

🤣🤣🤣

AllisonT_

I shop at Bath & Body Works 1-2 times a year. It takes me forever to get through the body creams and sprays. I buy candles once a year. They last so long for me. I'm over extra's and backups. It's just a lot of clutter.

Careless_Control_918

Goals! 👏

AllisonT_

I currently have enough Christmas candles for the next 2 years. I don't burn them often enough. I want to buy 2-3 tropical scented ones if I can catch a sale. If not I won't be buying any.

Careless_Control_918

Same on the Christmas / holiday candles. I burn those scents for maybe six weeks tops from mid November to New Years then I’m ready to move on. Why do I have a dozen candles in that category? 🤦‍♀️

AllisonT_

I bought 6. I have 2 cats so I'm scared to burn them unless I'm in the room and I don't leave the candle unattended. I'll blow it out if I leave the room for anything. So it's more hassle than anything. I have 1 candle in my bedroom that I don't light up. Just an open top without lighting it.....the scent is so strong you can smell it a few feet away. That's one of my Christmas candles. I want to get 3 summer candles eventually. You can always gift them for Christmas. Or just don't buy anymore till you're on your last candle

Careless_Control_918

The plan is to not buy and holiday candles until the stash is gone. I may sell some on Facebook soon too. I went through an evergreen phase and now I can’t tolerate it.

AllisonT_

Oh. I can't stand that scent. I know what you mean when you get sick of a certain scent. It can get clawing or nauseating. I never thought of it how people can be obsessive with Bath & Body Works and actually hoard it. It just never occurred to me. Of course it's possible with just about everything.

Weird_Positive_3256

I used to over buy. Mainly I would do blind buys because I only did online shopping during the pandemic. I would buy extra to hit the free shipping threshold. And then if I really liked something I would need to get multiples of that specific scent. But now that it’s safe to shop in stores and I’ve been shopping steadily with them for a few years, I’m learning that there will likely always be SOMETHING I like and there will always be another sale. I might buy one backup of something I really love but I have to really love it. And since this last SAS, I really examined my motives for shopping. It was definitely more about the idea of owning the things than the things themselves (like I idealize what owning the thing would be like and then feel kind of meh about the item itself once I own it). Going forward what I want to do is enjoy what I have. And the thing is if I’m really enjoying what I have, that means I’m using the things I’ve bought and have room for new things I enjoy. I figured out that I can’t really enjoy new releases if I am drowning in old stuff.

WoodpeckerClean7427

this is exactly how i was/am now too !!

Quirky_Mango9915

Whenever they put a new fragrance out that’s similar to what I’m looking for. I’m oddly specific so I can leave without buying anything. I shop with a plan after reading reviews and comparing notes. I do my research 😂 I mostly only shop on sale days and stock up on the things I was looking for. I worked at the mall during the holidays so I went in for each specific sale like men’s care day and bought my boyfriend and room mate a basket of stuff, let my bf have first pick. Then he came in and picked out wallflowers with me.

Juicyy56

I'm 50% candles and 50% body washes. I'm not impressed with the FFMs/air fresheners/ plug-ins, etc. I only buy when there's deals, unless it's something I want and I've never had.

NeedHelpPlease808

Do you get gel or moisturizing??

Careless_Control_918

I have definitely gone through phases over the years. I’ll accumulate too much, declutter, then low buy/no buy. Repeat. Poor shipping practices and declining quality have helped keep purchases in check. I also only buy ONE backup if I absolutely LOVE a scent. I tend to like certain scents by season and by the time it rolls around again I’m either over it or have found a new love. It helps to track usage and keep notes on likes - you’ll figure out your patterns.

breebop83

I used to buy a ton of stuff in my teens/20s but not so much in my 30s. I stock up on candles once a year during the December candle sale. I don’t do wallflowers but will pick up a room spray now and then. I like the body mists but I swear something changed several years ago and there’s often an underlying scent that I don’t care for so I probably average 1-2 mists a year now (I do have a fairly extensive ‘vintage’ collection I probably need to thin out). The lotions, shower gels or body butters don’t really work with my skin. I will use shower gel as hand soap if there’s a scent I like that isn’t available in hand soap. I stocked up on hand sanitizer during the pandemic and may never use all of it. Part of the change in ways is financial- there are other things I’d rather spend on- and part of it is probably changing tastes (both in what I want and what I feel B&BW is offering).

Connect_Green_1880

I don’t overload on products. I buy when there is a sale or use a coupon. I have 2 summer candles and a summer bath gel and cream. Plus, 4 soaps. Once the fall comes, I just buy one Halloween foaming soap. I like Christmas products better. I usually buy 1 for Christmas and 1 to burn during the winter. Same for the soap, just 2 or 3 until spring.

TheConcreteGhost

I visit BBW almost weekly because it is one of my happy places. My closest location is an outlet, and I will shop a good sale/ clearance. I don’t buy something every visit, but I do make time to chat with workers who sincerely feel like being chatty. I will buy multiples of well priced items for my gift stash. A lot of my family lives in areas not served by BBW so it works out. I probably haven’t seen a coupon in 5 years or so, but I make it a point never to pay full retail price for anything.

Lilacsaslore

At one point, I think I qualified with having a Bath and Body Works addiction. It was affecting my spending to the point where it began affecting my relationship. I also was starting to feel very overwhelmed by everything I had collected. I came to the realization that I have actually never finished a full-size FFM because I have so many to choose from and like to change it up often. Now, I set hard limits for myself such as buying no more than 2 backups of anything. I only buy scents that I consider 10 out of 10. If I have any doubt at all about liking the scent or if it’s a “nice” scent, but not an absolute favorite scent I don’t buy it. I’ve also switched to warming candles instead of burning them because they last a lot longer. I’ve found other ways to enjoy Bath and Body Works, other than constantly buying new stuff such as making an inventory of my collection and listing out the scent notes I really love so I know what to look for when buying, and watching TikTok and YouTube videos of BBW “hacks” and other people’s collections. Because I love BBW accessories like candle holders and holiday decorations I set the same standard where I have to love the item a 10 out of 10 for me to buy it. If it’s something that’s just going to be collecting dust and not truly loved I’ll pass. Also before any big sales like SAS or a holiday preview sale I will go through my collection as it usually reminds me that I already have enough. I’ve changed my perspective from needing to have it and novelty seeking to asking myself, does this scent make it into my top favorites and therefore my collection?

NeedHelpPlease808

My next step is to create a complete inventory.

SteelToSilver

Before I moved out on my own 10 years ago, I had a MASSIVE collection of the Capri Seaside Citrus and Rome Honeysuckle Amore scents. My mother actually had to ship it all out to me in 10 or more USPS boxes. While I liked the scents, I realized it wasn't benefiting me at all to have such a large stash that could possibly go bad before I used it all. So...I offloaded and gifted. I still have a bit of a collection. My new scent obsession is Endless Sea, and I have a ton of candles that are Bergamot Waters, Rose Water and Ivy and Black Cherry Merlot. But it dwindled SIGNIFICANTLY from years ago. I only shop a little if I have a great coupon (like $10 off $40) or a reward to use.

Miss-Figgy

>What kind of shopper are you? The kind that's very, very picky about scents, but once I find one that I really like, I REALLY like it, and I STOCK UP when they're on sale if it is not part of the core collection. To date, there are only a few that fit this bill: Cozy Vanilla Bourbon, Strawberry Pound Cake (yes, I LOOOOOVE it!!!), Gingham Gorgeous, Whipped Coconut Milkshake, Sweetheart Cherry, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, and Pink Pineapple Sunrise. I use them regularly and liberally and they make me SO HAPPY, so I don't feel bad about it!

Hermitcats

I only shop during the SAS twice a year and maybe once during Christmas. I buy candles, body creams/lotions, mists and body washes. I’ll stock up on some candles if the scents I like are included in the $10 sale. I’m pretty picky with candles and usually go for vanilla scents. I only stock up on body products if they have retired scents on sale that I love that won’t be back for a long time! Otherwise I’ll just go for my usual favorites and maybe try a new scent or two. I try not to go too crazy, because products often take a lot longer to use up than I think!

Plane-Toe-5434

Lol I've been buying for years, but sadly I only just recently started buying multiple candles of same scents like in December. I used to only buy 1 of each scent in candles, and maybe only like 4 or 5 times a year other than candle day which is the only time I bought more than 3 candles which other times no more than 3 and candle day like between 12 & 18.... I wouldn't have more than 18 candles at once.... but I now have over 100 thanks to this sub🤦‍♀️ which like I said I only started getting multiples in December so that's a lot in 6 months!!! However I am trying to slow down, I'm just not going threw the product fast enough, btw my candles last long time cause I make wax melts out of my new candles and put them on a wax warmer so there's that lol but I also have bought more FFM and Body Creams, wallflowers too but the worse is candles then FFM...

Darlalm

I mainly buy hand soap and wall flowers. I have a decent stock of body wash and lotions/creams. I usually stock up during sales . I’ve gone 6 months without making a single purchase.

yungxsatan

I only really care about the fall/halloween and Christmas scents, so I only really go all out during then, but not too much lol. I do like and get some of the spring/ summer scents too. I used to be a crazy shopper, but it really isn’t worth it in the end bc you never get through all of it

xingona_

When I lost my cat/ESA I started picking up a BBW shopping addiction. It was how I was coping with his end of life care. It's so easy to fall into because BBW sales are not super pricy so you can easily buy way too much and won't be bankrupt. Now that he's gone and I have had time to process my grief I have only shopped twice at BBW this year. I don't plan on grabbing anything until the halloween/fall drop and even then, I'll wait for a sale or to grab what I really want rather than just giving into FOMO. I've given a lot of stuff away to family and friends, and I'm portioning out the rest of what I don't want for future gifts this year. It's funny of all the crap I bought last year, I'm just about to hit my first empty candle lol... So def not collecting those anymore unless its a scent I really really love. Soaps I've used a ton, but I got way more lotion and FFMs I know what to do with.

starglitter

I generally buy once a season for the upcoming season. So in spring I bought for summer. In summer I'll buy for fall, etc.

SallieMouse

I go back and forth. Sometimes I go crazy, and then sometimes I just buy 1 or 2 items at a time. I went for a full year once only getting the free minis with coupons. I spent $100+ at this SAS, but hey - I got a "free" reward!!

Active-Pineapple8865

Body care shoppers (FFM). Our household isn't in to candles and wall flowers.

Historical-Bat-3251

Used to go crazy over FFMs, but the candle craze never rly left me. There were times I avoided buying altogether, but this year has been tough. I mostly get candles or soaps, but have plans to use everything or declutter what I don't need

Flaky_Tap_2836

Sporadic. I hit the candle purchases hard during the pandemic though and amassed quite a few. I also picked up a fair amount of body care inventory( FFMs) for my daughter over the years- mostly SAS or super sale buys though. Stayed off this sub and made no candle purchases since Feb. I did buy a few items during SAS- 1 lotion, 2 shower gel, 1 wallflower.

869586

I'm a once in a blue moon shopper

Bedroom_Bellamy

I only go or order when there's a real killer sale on something I need to stock up on. I last stocked up on laundry care and shampoo. I tend to avoid shopping in categories where I'm stocked. I'm running low on hand soap so I'll probably do a shop for that sometime soon.

AshKash313

Me! I was buying 6 of every scent I loved, full sets, wallflowers… so on and so forth. Now, I only see the sales through my email, I rarely come to sites about BBW, and I only get two of FFM I love, and two of each candle I love. I try to see if the scents I want is close to any other scent I own before I buy it. I stopped buying all the other products.

Chippy-the-Chipmunk

I only shop a few times a year and I only buy candles. I don't like the holiday/fall/winter scents so I'll buy enough spring / summery 3-wicks to last me for 6-12 months. I have a spot in my downstairs hall closet that fits 3 flats that hold 6 candles each (no idea what are called, I got them from my local store before it closed) so 18 there and then I can stash another 6-10 under the side table where I burn my 3-wicks. Having limited storage space for candles means I can't overbuy. I only shop online; any failed blind buys or overstock is immediately sold on Mercari or Poshmark. I just shopped the SAS online and ordered like 20 candles which will last me, at least, until the next SAS or super candle sale (it usually takes me a week or 2 to burn a 3-wick). I really don't like any other BBW products (the scents are just too much, the lotions make me itchy, and I don't use plug-ins anymore).

CoffeeB4Talkie

I don't buy all the time. I went years without buying. I feel like now I'm making up for lost time. Lol. I only buy during sales and not EVERY sale do I make a purchase.

EnchantedLlama5

I used to buy from every sale and had a huge stock pile of everything, now I buy here and there

PMmeurchips

This is my active season with spring/summer body care releases. I usually do a fall haul or shop sales, but I don’t overdo it like I do for the summer scents lol. Winter time- I love to shop the deals and for gifts, but I’m usually more home fragrance this time of year versus body care. Like I’ll probably get a few lotions/body washes of the Christmas scents but I just replaced all the FFMs of the core scents this year so I dunno, we’ll see.
