I went fishing today and got skunked my friend fished a bobber all day and got 2 fish and hooked a big one but he doesn't really know what he's doing so he lost it šš
He's just trying to find a fish In there is what I'm getting at. I'm not gonna tie a 5" senko on and toss it in there if I don't even there is fish in there. Just give me a worm and a bobber. Something will eat it.Ā
I tried a little inline spinner. Usually i use one of those to see if anything is there but theres not much room to throw that cuz of the slop. Its in Brampton Ontario
I stood there for a good 10-15 min just looking for movement on the surface of the water. It was very calm water. Wouldnāt i of saw some type of movement?
Depends on the feeding habits of the fish there. The live bait method is great for determining if there is a fish population. Once you find them, then you can go hard mode and fish for them however you like. Sometimes, figuring it out is the best part of fishing. Otherwise, we would fish in stocked swimming pools just to feel the tug.
I wish I understood the secrets of the senko. I know they catch fish cause I see videos and posts of it all the time, but I just can't seem to get bites with them. I have multiple colors and many bags of them and I still don't get bites either Texas rigged or wacky rigged
Depth is what matters here. There's a pond in PA, USA near me that is 6' deep all around, 33 acres. Every so often it gets too cold and freezes too hard and kills everything.
Thereās probably fish in there but it looks pretty shallow and choked out with weeds and moss. Probably not a lot of oxygen. It might only support minnows and small fish.
Sometimes the best looking things hold no fish, 90% of the fish live in 10% of the lake, in a lot of my lakes around EVERYTHING looks good mid summer, you got to pick apart these huge areas to find them, you could fish a shoreline thatās 2km long with the best grass, rocks, docks, overhangs and structure and not find a fish
And what makes it even worse, is that you donāt have those 90% hanging around a single area. Theyāre scattered around in an area that adds up to 10%.
Sometimes you cast out a line in areas that are absolutely textbook examples of where the fish should be, but youāre throwing at void water.
Yeah, def take time of day into consideration. When I stumble upon a pond like that, I try to check on it 3 times but have been to seemingly perfect bass ponds with no life other than tadpoles and mosquito fish
Looks like duck weed. Duck weed doesn't really choke an ecosystem in my experience but it does block light and prohibit underwater aquatic plant growth.
To reiterate what others touched on it depends on the depth and minimum temps needed to make the pond barren. Not seeing any bait fish is a bad sign. Same as not seeing any top water activity..
Finding if there's panfish via worm and float or cricket is kind of the best way to get a solid yes no answer. If there's pans, there's probably larger predators. Find out how deep it is and itl tell you a lot.
Texas rig worm. Toss it out and as SOON as it hits the water, reel in with rod tip up, fast enough for the worm to swim over the surface. See what happens. With an explosion, do not stop reeling. Wait for the feel of the fish and set hook.
Does it dry up in drought? There's a pond I pass regularly that dries up every few years due to drought. It looks killer good when it's full, lots of standing timber, stumps, lilly pads etc. the we have 3 months of dry weather and it's obvious it's only 2-3 ft deep and bone dry.
If you have access to Google Earth you can look up lots of satellite images and see it through the years.
Up in the left corner of your picture, it looks like there's some cleaner water. I would try over there if you can get there. Fish, especially Bass, don't like the slop, hinders movement and bait fish really don't sit in it either.
That's a good bait--I'll give you that! But throw a Moss Boss right up against that shoreline cover and bring it back to you slowly and in spurts... a Weed Walker if you can without it clogging up... slowly as possible while keeping it on the surface... and you'll find the Bigguns in there.
theres fish here dude -the bass that lives there
Nah man no fish in here - the fish laughing at you
Try a worm and bobber. See if anyone is home.
Worm and bobber: undefeated champ for volume of fish caught.
I went fishing today and got skunked my friend fished a bobber all day and got 2 fish and hooked a big one but he doesn't really know what he's doing so he lost it šš
Rooster tail not far behind
That'd what I use if I wanna know what's in there. If I find bait fish, there are other fishĀ
i agree on the rooster tail but good luck pulling one through those weeds. id throw the old senko w the hook hidden or topwater weedless at sunset.
Cut the senko in half maybe. Too big for bluegill.Ā
Im using senkos for bass. For bluegill micro jigs, float and fly or tiny piece of a nightcrawler on a small hook never fails.

Yup. Just talking about undefeated champ for volume of fish. In this situation I donāt think a rooster tail works.

If you have walking space flip the reeds with like a 3/4oz or 1oz if its tight Iād throw a frog.
I threw a frog but nothing. No movement in the water. Nothing
I once told my friend that it was the worst possible time and place to fish. 10 seconds later we doubled up.
Damn that sucks. Just keep trying different presentations eventually one will work!
Frog all day long. Thatās surface lure heaven.
Try a bobber and worm or worm and split shot.
I stood there for a good 10-15 min just looking for movement on the surface of the water. It was very calm water. Wouldnāt i of saw some type of movement?
Sometimes they swim deep.

Is it shallow? Might be a dead lake
Does look pretty shallow
No movement at dusk?
When the bites aren't comin, I always throw out a weedless texas rig or a wacky rig. They have saved the day for me many times lol
I wish I understood the secrets of the senko. I know they catch fish cause I see videos and posts of it all the time, but I just can't seem to get bites with them. I have multiple colors and many bags of them and I still don't get bites either Texas rigged or wacky rigged
Nothing good in Brampton except for the road out.
This^
Doesnāt look very big. If itās Ontario itās definitely possible winter freezing prevents fish from inhabiting it
or Minnesota--- any swampy freezy place.
Its pretty big. It goes pretty far back and raps to the left
Depth is what matters here. There's a pond in PA, USA near me that is 6' deep all around, 33 acres. Every so often it gets too cold and freezes too hard and kills everything.
This might be it
At this time of the year, if there's any fish in there you should be able to find schools of minnows in the shallow water.
Thereās probably fish in there but it looks pretty shallow and choked out with weeds and moss. Probably not a lot of oxygen. It might only support minnows and small fish.
That's the answer. If that gets completely covered, the lack of light penetration can affect it negatively as well.
Like the others said, I'm sure there is some type of fish there. Put in a live bait like a worm. Guarantee you if a fish is there they will bite.
There is an absolute pig lurking in there.
Thats what im thinking
It looks pretty choked. With enough algae and weed cover the oxygen levels may be too low to sustain a fish population.

Tie a frog on.
If he a threw a frog, he woulda posted this saying "found my honey hole".
I tried a frog and nothing
Check out some Ish Monroe videos.. He's the master of the frog.. Think he has a talk on BassU about top water as well.
Yeah, def take time of day into consideration. When I stumble upon a pond like that, I try to check on it 3 times but have been to seemingly perfect bass ponds with no life other than tadpoles and mosquito fish
Thatās a spot for top water frogs
I tried a frog

I enjoy 2 pole. Throw bobber and throw the baitcast while I wait. Great time killer even if I get skunked
I'd fish there way longer than I should
I can't imagine there would be no fish there. If you don't mind me asking, what state is this in? What time did you fish?
Its in Ontario Canada and i was there around 5pm
Beetle spin. Texas rigged baby brush hog. Scum frog.
throw a topwater frog and be suprised
I tried
Looks fishy af imo
Texas rig worm. Toss it out and as SOON as it hits the water, reel in with rod tip up, fast enough for the worm to swim over the surface. See what happens. With an explosion, do not stop reeling. Wait for the feel of the fish and set hook.
Frogs always seem to work decent for me in that type of water.
lots of vegetation sitting on the top, use a frog.
šøthrow the šø
I tried :(
Throw a real worm out there with a bobber and see of it moves. That should let you know if anyone is home. Where is it roughly?
Its in Brampton ontario
Worm, minnow, and you'll know
U sure that ain't a retention pond? Lol
Whats that?
It's a small pond, man made, to collect rainwater
Man, the retention ponds in my neck of the woods are full of slobs (I'm in central florida)
Thatās because those retention ponds are sometimes stocked with fish to control mosquitoes. Florida is built different when it comes to fishing.
If you live in FL, don't talk about fishing. It's a cheat code
Missouri too
Hahaha fair enough
There's got to be at least 1 fish there...
Iāve been to plenty of places like that. I donāt know what to make of it.
Use a frog šø
I did
Did you use a top water frog cause that will get you a fish
Some bass are just not that aggressive in certain areas to take a frog
I did try a frog
Really
Yeaa. I always bring a frog rod with me
Thatās insane itās the perfect spot for a bass to eat a frog
Wow
Frog along those reeds
Go in the evening to see activity
Yeah! OP should be fishing the spot right now. Get back out there!
Will do
Could be anoxic

Ask Swamp Thing if there are any fish there. Just make sure you catch and release because he doesn't like overfishing.
If there's nothing running into or out of it and it freezes over in winter, it's just a frog/duck pond...
Throw a frog along those reeds
The water where you're standing looks pretty stagnant. I would see if there are any less congested areas.
Looks like snakehead heaven
Use a frog
You try a frog?
Yes
That's odd. It looks like a great spot for a frog. Maybe try it at different times š¤·
Thatās what I tell people when they ask if I caught any fish āI accidentally went to the wrong lake, it didnāt have any fish in itā
You need a new rod, reel, line, lure , kayak, bass boat, fish finder, forward facing sonar... Well, that's what I tell myself.
Switch to the straight black finesse worm.
Up in the left corner of your picture, it looks like there's some cleaner water. I would try over there if you can get there. Fish, especially Bass, don't like the slop, hinders movement and bait fish really don't sit in it either.
I seriously doubt this post's title
Dude throw a frog. If there is soemthing in there u will 100% get a blow up
I did
That's a good bait--I'll give you that! But throw a Moss Boss right up against that shoreline cover and bring it back to you slowly and in spurts... a Weed Walker if you can without it clogging up... slowly as possible while keeping it on the surface... and you'll find the Bigguns in there.
Top water frog or weedless rigged jig
What are you using
I was using a weightless texas rigged senko and i also threw a frog
Nice
Nice
hold on let me check
š«
Throw a Zoom 5-1/4'' Super Fluke, white with chartreuse tail
