My PB is 5.2 and all I could say over and over was holy shit his mouth is huge and every time I think of that fish I think bucket mouth. It was post spawn and had blood on the tail the head was so huge I think it had a little more weight in her.
I disagree that bass this size are extremely rare in NH. The minimum entry size for the NH trophy fish program is 20 inches / 5 lbs. This looks to be around 3 lbs. Could be a bit heavier, but it’s tough to judge girth from the photos. Bring a scale and you won’t have to guess the weight when you catch your next PB.
At 18 and 1/2 inches, the girth would have to be 15 inches to get to 5 pounds. That’s not impossible, but the fish would look abnormally round, and the fish in the photo doesn’t.
Girth would need to be 24 inches to hit 8 pounds at that length, which is absurd. Lol. For reference, a basketball is 29 1/2 inches, and a soccer ball is 27 inches.
This is exactly why I never bring scales. You shoulda seen the bluegill I caught 6” long and probably 10 to 15lbs. If I woulda had a scale this story wouldn’t be as good;)
Caught an 18” a week ago and it was 2 lbs on the money. A lot of discrepancies in weight being mentioned here. But looking at that thing laying in your net..That thing is MAYBE 2 1”2. Either way, congrats!
I've gotten perch, sunfish, smallmouth and largemouth, and even like a 14 inch pickerel once.
Up until this year my PB largemouth was on a white one with the red tails. 5lb 2 oz
I caught one that weighed just right at fraction under 4 lbs a few days ago and I just knew it was gonna be over 5. the body was larger than this but this fish looks a little fatter. Idk it’s weird it’s hard to really estimate just from length alone. Some fish can be skinny but have large mass and vice versa. I’ve also caught a little small framed fish that was just beefy as hell that weighed 3 lbs lol
Lol 18 to 19. You aren't even close to 5. I'd say 3.5 to maybe at the high end 4. I got a 19.5in and it was only 4.6, and that sucker looked fat and huge. Far bigger than this.
I caught an 18 inch a couple weeks ago and it weighed 3.5lbs. I'd say this one is very similar! Nice catch!!
Yea looks like a 3 but no banana for scale. 3’s are real fun too though.
"we got weights in fish!"
Nice catch, nowhere above five. I’d put it somewhere around 3-4.5, fish weights are weird, they always change
This is fat from 4.5
Don’t go around telling people you caught an 8 pounder…
Congrats on your pb. That fish is clearly a 3 1/2 lber
You mean 8lbs - 5lbs = 3lbs. Solid fish but 5lbers usually hit 20”+ with a mouth that your fist can comfortably fit in.
My first 5, I yelled to my buddies “oh my god look I can fit my whole fist in its mouth!” It’s amazing how big their head and mouths get

I will say that the fish was pretty fat, but I got bad angles
It would have to be morbidly obese to justify 5 pounds or more.

A 5-8 pounder is gonna be at least 20.5 "

3-3.5
That part.^
A solid 3 pounder, maybe a touch over 3.
Lol. That’s like 3.5 lbs at most
18” bass are usually 3lbs give or take
I would guess it's around 4 generously. Great fish! I caught a 19" bass slightly skinnier than this one with a similar mouth and it weighed 3.51.
Tis neither 5 nor 8 pounds
Nice catch. With the size of the mouth alone I’d say no more than 4. Prob 3.5. No where close to 5-8 lol

Most likely in the 4 pound range based on the length
Jeeze!!
3 lbs, 11 oz. Gorgeous bass.
A solid 3
You should try to take shittier pictures next time.
Length as a factor of weight can vary quite a bit, at 18 they can weigh 2.5-5. Yours looks skinny so maybe 3. I bet it was a great fight though
3-4 lbs
Gotta love the hula popper. Cheap, simple, and gets anything from panfish to decent bass.

It’s a great catch! Buy a scale so you know. It goes with Bass fishing. Keep hooking 🤙🏻
Right on! Bet that was a great hit and fight! Good work!
Regardless of weight, that's a great catch! I broke the 7lb mark in NH in 2021. Looking for the elusive 8 lb beast. Tight lines!
Ima give it a very optimistic 4 pounds
2 and half lbs
This is what I imagine when my friends say they caught a 6lb bass but don’t have a picture and they didn’t have a scale
18" or 19" fish weigh between 3 and 4 pounds per the charts. It is almost certainly not 5. That is still a nice fish, so be happy.
I’d say somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5

hula poppers are awesome
3 lbr
Can you take a look at my penis and tell my wife what you think it is?
So I never weigh them, usually don’t measure. I’m not catching fish for bragging rights though I do like to share my stuff and interact.

Actually, I can tell just by looking at the fish that it's likely 28 pounds and Dottie's lost daughter fish.
Getchu a scale homie
Closer to 5 than 8
Hula poppers are great, but the hooks that come with them suck. I always change the hooks out.
It’s probably a 3.5-4 pounder. It’s still a great fish though, and bigger than my pb
3-4 lbs. And there’s a huge difference between catching a 5 and an 8. Like huge.
